LAP management questions.

I'm configuring a 2500 series WLC to test some wireless configuration changes we'd like to make on our 5500's that are currently in prodcution.
The 2500 and the 5800's interfaces are configured as a LAG.
One of the primary goals of these configuration changes is to move the LAPs from their current VLAN (the same subnet as our primary WLAN) to two separate VLANs.  Were choosing to move the LAPs to 2 APs based on the WLC best practices document's suggestion to limit the number of LAPs per vlan to 60-100. We've had several issues in the past with LAPs failing to join with their static IPs, releasing them and then joining with DHCP addresses.
LAP's will be on separate vlans using subnets 10.10.10.0/25 and 10.10.10.128/25.  WLC management interface is in the 10.10.1.0/25 subnet.
Should we continue using static IPs for the LAPs or DHCP?
What subnet should the AP management interface be on?
Is it possible to have mutiple AP management interfaces with LAG?
Thanks!

Stephen,
My understanding is that the 2504s don't support LAG. Also, I don't think either the 5508 or the 2504 have ap-manager anymore (deprecated and collapsed into management interface). I believe the 5508 has LAG turned on permanently and the 2504 can only use one interface, so no separate ap-manager function is needed aside from management on either platform.
I definitely agree with you that DHCP is the way to go on APs. It's a much better use of time to configure the DHCP scope for the APs instead of trying to control them through static addressing. It's not worth the hassle and tracking, especially as AP count scales up in the 100s or 1000s.
Jason,
The management interface of your controller can be anywhere as long as your APs can discover and talk to it. I typically set up networks so that there's a "wireless services" vlan and I put WLC management and ap-manager (on older WLCs), location/mse, and wcs/ncs on that same network. This is by no means a requirement, but as a wireless engineer I like to separate the wireless control platforms from other functions on the network.

  • Project Management Question - timelines for Production system deployment

    Hi
    I need an expert advice on setting up timelines for establishing an Oracle Apps Production environment. We are implementing Oracle HR & Payroll at an organization.
    Our system architecture is a 2-node application tier and 2-node DB tier (RAC). RAC is configured by another party and we only have to prepare the application tier (2 nodes)
    We would be installing Oracle Apps R11i (11.5.10) with jserv load balancing on the 2-nodes
    Can anyone suggest how much time this should take to install/configure & patching of the application tier (on 2 nodes)?

  • Another color management question

    Hi folks,
    Apologies for yet another color management question, but Im getting very confused and could do with some help. I use a Canon 10D and Canon 30D. Ive come to LightRoom from Pixmantec Raw Shooter.
    As Ive gotten more serious about producing high quality images for both the web and as prints, I thought Id invest in the Colorvision Spyder2 calibration product. So my monitor is now calibrated (quite a difference from what I was seeing!) and I have a calibration profile applied.
    My needs are pretty obvious I want my images to look the same wherever theyre viewed including exported files (such as JPEGs) whether this be on my monitor (in LightRoom, a web browser, Paint Shop Pro, whatever) and on a printer.
    Perhaps Im getting confused because Im trying to compare what LightRoom does with what RawShooter does.
    In RawShooter, when exporting from RAW to JPEG, I can specify the RGB Working Space Im using and then select my monitor profile. I think that what happens is that the export mechanism takes this profile into account and, low and behold, the JPEG looks fine when viewed in any web browser - the colours are exactly the same as in RawShooter. In Paint Shop Pro they look fine too unless I enable Color Management in which case (Im guessing) the monitor profile is, essentially, applied twice! But the upshot is I seem to get the results I want.
    What I cant figure out is how I do this in LightRoom. I can make the same adjustments to the RAW image as I did in RawShooter, but there doesnt seem an option for me to select my profile on export to JPEG only the standard 3 color spaces. Anyway the result is a JPEG that looks somewhat different when viewed in a web browser, or Paint Shop Pro with Color Management turned off. However, if I turn Color Management on in Paint Shop Pro, then it looks fine. So Im assuming that my profile isnt accounted for when exporting JPEGs from LightRoom.
    So any pointers or explanations would be really appreciated. I also acknowledge that this is my first foray into color management, and feel free to tell me to go and read some introductory article (link please!) and then come back with a sensible question if thats whats needed!
    Thanks in advance.
    - Pete

    Lightroom color management.
    a.) Monitor profile used: The profile set as the default in your operating system (e.g. Windows xp). (your monitor profile software usually does this when you calibrate/profile your monitor).
    b.) Working space: ProPhotoRGB
    c.) Export color space: You can choose one of the following sRGB; Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB.
    There is no option (afaik) to change a.) or b.) the option you choose in c.) will affect how the exported image will be displayed in color managed applications or non-color managed applications.
    Non-color managed applications are not able to display Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB correctly. I guess if you wish a consistent display of your images in color managed and non-color managed applications then the only common factor is sRGB and you should export your images in sRGB color space.
    The benefits of the other expanded color spaces are in printing and you also would have to get this end of your color management correct. Printing profiles to match your printer and each paper being used etc.
    Until you can get this all sorted out you will get better results from sRGB, this is also applicable when using most commercial printing services.

  • Audit Management: Question List (questionnaire)

    Hello,
    There is a scenario where a questionnaire is required to be created at the time of 'Opportunity Creation' in order to perform some checks. This is required to be incorporated within the opportunity flow. example: <i>based on the asnwer in question the status of the opportunity would change.</i>
    In this context:
    <b>1.</b> In configuration <b>IMG --> CRM --> Audit Management --> Question List</b>, there is a option "Question List". Could that be used for this purpose ?. If 'Yes'  than Is it possible to use these questionnaire for other application then Audit Management ?
    <b>2.</b> Is there a option to create a questionnaire in SAP-CRM (sales) and assign it to the opportunity flow ? how this can be achieved?
    <b>3.</b> What can be the other approach options to achieve this functionality ?

  • File management questions with iPhoto 8

    I am new to iPhoto, not just version 8. I need to understand a few basics about the Apple way of handling photos. First off let me say that I have a MacBook Pro and a Windows XP desktop pc. I just set up an external harddrive as my storage space for my photos. They were on my pc, but I want to take advantage of iPhoto and manage them via my mac laptop. So I formatted the external drive as a mac drive, purchased a copy of MacDrive so that my pc can read/write to this drive as well and transferred all of my photos to the external harddrive. 14 gigs. I suppose I should now delete them off my pc...
    Before I moved my photos, I organized them all into appropriate folders, consolidating them and removing any duplicates that occured sometimes when I accidentally re-imported the same photos from my camera.
    I imported the photos on my external harddrive into iPhoto's photo library, using the alias approach instead of having iPhoto make copies of the photos. (I don't need to waste yet another 14 gigs!) So now I have numerous Events, most of which relate directly to the folders I created for my photos. I noticed however that in some instances, iPhoto created multiple events for photos within the same folder.
    Here are my questions...
    If I merge events in iPhoto, I noticed my folders do not change. Am I just messing around with the aliases, sorta like creating playlists in iTunes? Is there any way to keep things in sync between my folders and my events, so that the contents of my folders match the contents of my events, or is this unwise or unnecessary?
    If after I have imported my photos into iPhoto, what happens when I merge my folders of photos on my harddrive, outside of iPhoto? Does iPhoto keep up or do I have to somehow update my iPhoto library? Refresh it? What happens when I add more photos, say with my pc? Do I have to import the new folders of photos into iPhoto each time?
    I also have a question about keywords. From the demo movie I watched on apple.com, I saw that one can search for photos using keywords. In the demo, the presenter typed the name of a person and all the pictures of that person appeared. If I want to do this, does this mean I have to add for example the keyword "David" to every picture David is in? Can the name simply appear in the title for the photo and still get picked up within the search results? Is there an easy way to assign keywords to multiple photos at the same time?
    Thanks for helping me start out on the right foot!
    Paul

    Dani:
    You don't have to duplicate photos when using iPhoto in it normal, copy to library, mode. Once you import the files you can delete the ones used to import. However, if you're a professional then you've probably read the DAM book, Digital Asset Management, and it implies multiple backup copies.
    Files imported in the alias mode retain the color profile that was added by the camera. If you edit in iPhoto then the resulting modified will will have a default profile. In my case the profile went from sRGB IEC1966-2.1 to Camera RGB Profile. But if you use Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto you can manage the profile with it.
    I like iPhoto 7 much more than 6. It's editing capabilities are much improved but still no match for PS. It also writes the metadata, comments, keywords and title to the file when exporting. It also allows you to modify the EXIF Capture Date and write it to the original file.
    As with any application you must have backups and backups. Also always keep a minimum of 10 GB free space, 15 or more if you'll be doing some heavy editing with PS or work with video. That's important. So that means an external FW hard drive or two for redundancy backups. That is if you're serious about it.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Game server: Map managing questions

    Hello everyone,
    I'm trying to develop some kind of RPG. I have different issues, where I need advice:
    1) Map(2D) managment on game server
    The map I want to keep in memory on server will contain objects such as: Item, NPC, Character, etc.
    Item, NPC, Character and other objects going to extend MapObject class, because I want to keep all this data in same place.
    Let's suppose that the map will have 50x50 tiles..
    I want to use Hashtable array to store elements there... So I will have something like this:
    Hashtable <String, MapObject>[][] map = new Hashtable[50][50];
    String(aka key) is going to be object_name + "_" + object_id..
    The questions are:
    - What about performance in this situation?
    - Is there any other data structure which can suite better to this situation?
    2) The other question I have is about sending map object(once in fixed period of time) and updates(for example some character walked or picked an item).
    The architecture I thought for sending data to client is:
    TCP Connection for authentication anc chat
    MultiCast Socket for synchronizing map object and sending updates
    - Is this aceptable architecture for server?
    - Is MultiCast socket good for sending updates and map object?(because there will be significant gain in term of computation on server, comparing to TCP, but what about losses of packets? what about traffic? what kind of protections(excluding timeouts) should I implement on client-side? )
    Thank you in advance.

    How comes?Well, one reason is that your test is broken. The first set of tests will always take longer, cause it's before hotspot has kicked in, etc. I moved the test to a method, precreated the objects (remember, if gc happens in one and not the other it's a huge difference), and called them repeatedly. Once I did that, there wasn't really a noticeable difference between them:
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    import java.util.Map;
    import java.util.Random;
    public class HashMapTest
       private static MapObject[] objs = new MapObject[200000];
       private static Random gen = new Random();
       public static void main(String [] agrs)
          for ( int i = 0; i < objs.length; i++ ) {
             objs[i] = new MapObject("ID" + i, "NAME"+i);
          hashMap();
          hashTable();
          hashMap();
          hashTable();
          hashMap();
          hashTable();
          hashMap();
          hashTable();
       private static void hashMap() {
          doTest(new HashMap<String, MapObject>());
       private static void hashTable() {
          doTest(new Hashtable<String, MapObject>());
       private static void doTest(Map<String, MapObject> map) {
          long start_time = System.currentTimeMillis();
          for (int i = 0; i < objs.length; i++)
             map.put(objs.id , objs[i]);
    for (int i = 0; i < objs.length; i++)
    int randomInt = gen.nextInt(objs.length);
    map.get("ID" + randomInt);
    System.out.println(map.getClass() + ": " + (System.currentTimeMillis() - start_time));
    class MapObject
    String name;
    String id;
    public MapObject (String id, String name)
    this.id = id;
    this.name = name;
    }Results of one arbitrary test:

  • Slackware user - Arch install process and package management questions

    I currently am using Slackware 12 with updates.  It has become increasingly cumbersome to compile new software given the number of dependencies that also have to be compiled, and have their own dependencies compiled, etc and so on.
    Other than the fact that the adoption of new packages is somewhat glacial, and that there is no automatic dependency resolution, I really like Slackware.  Its fast, relatively easy to configure, and easy to use.  I'm conversant in commandline-ese.
    I've been led to understand based on the Arch wiki that Arch is very similar to Slackware in its layout, but with bleeding edge packages and dependency resolution, so I would think it would be about perfect.
    However, I also understand that the install is more difficult that Slackware.  How much more so is my question.  Is it impossibly confusing and unhelpful like Debian installation was, or just slightly more difficult than Slackware or FreeBSD (both of which have very smooth installation scripts)
    Also, for packages that have to be compiled from source, are dependancies easy to satisfy from the arch repository, or do dependencies for new software have to be compiled with their dependencies.
    I'd probably just be trashing everything but /home, and doing a clean reinstall.
    Is Arch the right distro for me, or am I better off staying with Slackware?  Like I said, I really like Slackware except for the package management issues.

    I've been led to understand based on the Arch wiki that Arch is very similar to Slackware in its layout, but with bleeding edge packages and dependency resolution, so I would think it would be about perfect.
    You are right about that.

    They are quite similar, but Slackware provides more help when doing tasks like - how can I partition my harddisk and so on. But If you're comfortable with Slack's install procedure then installing Arch is much easier, just read the install guide.
    I think Arch is good for you, because currently I have both - Slackware and Arch and both suit me fine for my needs.

  • File Manager Question, Airbrowser and others

    Hi There People
    I am new to the BB game and have only had my Bold for 1 month and the PB for 2 weeks. I have to say that the BB telephone support is simply fantastic, even with a newbie like me.
    I use the BBPB strictly for work, no games, no music, no nothing...except repair orders, small (very) repair manuals, and a parts/price list. Imagine my surprise when I tried to find the file system manager and was told by BB support it doesn't exist, and I would have to use a third party app...fine. Now I have a very simple excel made repair order that I loaded successfully into my BBPB via my desktop software. I have installed "airbrowser" successfully. My issue is that after I made a file named "Repair" and moved that excel file into it, I open airbrowser and can see this file, so far so good, but I cannot open it from that location (inside airbrowser) only from the factory PB file icon will it open, in the airbrowser there is not even a button "open" like in the OEM app.
    So my questions are :
    Is my airbrowser app defective?
    For my needs, = make a simple repair order file that I can search through to find a specific customer, then find the repairs in his name.
    Should airbrowser work or should I try something like "Files and Folders" that is talked about here
    Should I scrap this idea, and go to something completely different (laptop), any suggestions? I am a field service tech and my needs are very basic for what I thought the machine was capable of doing. Please I really don't want a laptop.
    Sorry if this post is too long as I am always trying not to forget some detail.  BTW I have used the search button and read 100 posts before writing this.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for that !
    Yup my file is a .xlsb, which from what I am thinking, might not be supported by airbrowser. So basicaly I'll need to try different excel templates that is recognized by that app.
    Yes I saw the "unsupported" button but it was browned out like dissabled so I just thought it was inopperative...of course this was the first time I used the app so I didn't know how it was supposed to look.
    jarviser thank you for your input, if I have more questions I will revive this thred.

  • Manual Font Management Questions

    Hi. First, thanks in advance for any advice. I appreciate it.
    I've recently taken up comic book lettering and as such, have acquired a massive amount of fonts. I've tried a couple of the management software (Suitcase Fusion and FontExplorer X) and haven't been able to work with them the way I'd hoped. Furthermore, they all (including the native FontBook) sandbag my system and grind it to a crawl.
    So, even though it's a giant pain and extremely tedious, I think I'll manually edit and remove unnecessary fonts to pare things down and organize them in apps like Adobe CS5. And group them. My questions are 1) can you have folders inside the font library folder the system draws from (for organization purposes)? I ask because there are none in there. 2) I've been working (I've already started with a small folder elsewhere) with a copy of the font directories. When I finish, would I just delete everything, then copy my altered version (including some renamings) into place (w/ or w/o folders -- tbd)? Or is there a proper way to remove and replace fonts than just moving to trash?
    Thanks again! I (virtually) bow to your vast knowledge. (Pandering works around here, right?)

    Uh...  Kappy, I've got every font on my machine (except for /System/Library/Fonts fonts) in subdirectories inside the assorted Fonts/ directories.  This is a subset of FontFolio11 that we use for editorial:

  • Sun Identity Compliance Manager Questions

    Hi Everyone,
    We are looking for a complete list of supported managed resources for the Sun Identity Compliance Manager (SICM) tool.
    Also we have the following specific questions:
    1.     Does SICM have connectors/adapters to Solaris 8/9/10 and Oracle EBS (as managed resources) to perform access certification of user accounts and associated entitlements/privileges/roles.
    For example: Can SICM be used to analyze/report on the status of current and newly provisioned Solaris unix-level accounts and associated RBAC roles (say) -or- Oracle EBS accounts and associated roles /responsibilities to identify if they have been certified or have any SOD conflicts?
    2.     Can SICM be implemented as a fully functional stand-alone product as opposed to it being integrated with Sun Identity Manager (SIM) ?
    3.     In a scenario where SIM and SICM are integrated, can SIM do a hand-off to SICM for SOD analysis and checking as part of it account provisioning workflows?
    Any insight and/or pointers will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance and please let me know if there is a more relevant forum to post this question.

    I have resolved the problem, the problem is because of the idmmanager attribute. In onsite they are using some other idm 6.0 with some patch, so they are getting the idm manager attribute but in offshore we dont have any patch installed for getting the idm manager attribute. Do you have any idea about how to get the idm manager attribute in the idm 6.0 with some patch? Thanks for your help ya.

  • Package manager - question?

    Hello folks,
    I wish to know why Package manager in openSolaris is so
    slow application. I know that it is written in Python, but
    I still do not understand why somebody did not offer some
    patch for that application. I will help honestly in programming
    if you need coders.
    Uros

    Please send your question to [email protected] That is the best place for discussion OpenSolaris packaging tools such as packagemanager. This forum is better for Solaris installation issues (from Solaris 10 and SXCE, for example).

  • Desktop Manager Question

    Hello, i am using a 8700g currently which is running off of v4.1.0.346 (platform 2.0.0.143), with T-Mobile.
    I purchased a new Bold online with AT&T due to bad reception at my home and i really liked the Bold.
    My question is this: Which version of desktop manager do i download to transfer my 275 contacts to new phone? The newest one 4.7?
    If i have left something out please ask for it. I was told this was the smoothest way to perform this task.

    Problem solved. i went into ATT store and they transfered all contacts over in three minutes. i did not have any luck with pocketmac and wes that due to the sim card not being activated yet? that is all i can think of as to why it was working on the 8700 side and not on the Bold side. if you have "the" answer i would like to hear it, if not no reply is necessary.
    thank you

  • ECC6 - Line item display and Open item management Questions.

    Hi All,
    For SAP ECC6, although I do not maintain line item display and open item management for Recon GL (for Debtor), I still can use FAGLB03 to view the GL balances and even Drill down to line item level by double click the value from FAGLB03 until line item level.
    Questions:
    Could anyone confirm whether my assumption below, true?
    1) If Line item display (Tcode: FS00) is ON, then the data will be stored at table: BSIS
    2) If NO open item management, then there should be no data to be stored at table BSAS for thaty particular GL account
    3) BSAS will only have data, after clearing was carried out ... move from BSIS to BSAS.
    In ECC 6
    4) FAGLB03 can drill down to line item level, although the GL (Tcode: FS00) was NOT set open item management and line item display is because from FAGLB03 when drill down to line item level, it actually extract data from BSEG, right?
    Additionally, we can use FBL3N to check the line item data for NON line item display GL as well.
    In SAP R/3 4.7, if not mistaken, if the GL is NOT line item display and open item management, we cannot drill down the line item reading and CANNOT use FBL3N to check the line item data.
    Kindly advise on these.
    Thanks.
    sbmel

    1) If Line item display (Tcode: FS00) is ON, then the data will be stored at table: BSIS
    BSIS is an open items table. You can see all GL open items there. GL's which are not open item managed can't go here
    2) If NO open item management, then there should be no data to be stored at table BSAS for thaty particular GL account
    Yes. Your understanding is correct
    3) BSAS will only have data, after clearing was carried out ... move from BSIS to BSAS.
    Yes. In case of partial clearing data will be there in both the tables BSIS & BSAS
    4) FAGLB03 can drill down to line item level, although the GL (Tcode: FS00) was NOT set open item management and line item display is because from FAGLB03 when drill down to line item level, it actually extract data from BSEG, right?
    These are New GL reports and report is based on document split object. if your document split is active at segment level then you can see line item report at segment level using FAGLL03. These reports has no link to FS00 settings.
    Hope this helps
