Laptop and printer

This may be a Windows 8 question but I have a question on our laptop and printer, which are both HP products. I just purchased a touchsmart laptop.  We have an HP officejet pro 8600 printer.  The software cannot be downloaded onto Windows 8.  The printer has the capability for wireless.  We currently have the printer directly connected to our obsolete desktop.  Can I set the printer to wireless without having to worry about installing the software, or do I need to somehow get updated software?

Hi NordicSki,
I understand you are interested in installing wireless on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer. The HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows was created to help Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users download and install the latest and most appropriate HP software solution for their HP Printer. Here is a link to download and install this software.

Let me know how this goes.
Thanks

  • Print from wireless laptop and print comes out hours later

My wife has a wirelessly connected laptop and when she prints from it, the printer doesn't print for a few hours.  When I print from the desktop which is connected directly to the router it prints right away.    We have a Netgear router, windows 7 and the Printer is an HP C5180 All In One.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you are able to print from your desktop properly, then the printer has been setup correctly. The issue could be with AV or Firewall programs installed on your wife's laptop, or some connectivity issue between her laptop and your router. These are the only 2 possibilities I can think of at this point. Try to disable the firewall and AV and they try printing.

  • Do I need a router to interface with my wireless laptop and printer, or can booth tooth.

Im having a problem interfacing the HP B210 all in one wireless printer to my ASUS wireless Laptop. Do I need a router or can I some hoe make the wireless connection using my blue tooth on my laptop. Please help.

Well, the printer does not have bluetooth so that will not work.
However, you can connect to it directly via wi-fi on your laptop.  From the front of the printer go to: Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults.
Now, on your PC, look for a wireless network beginning with "HP".  Join it.  There is no password.
Now, go to Control Panel > Printers and Add a Printer.

  • Laptop and printer connection for printing

I have had this printer connected to my laptop for over a year now and have never had any proble,s printing until now. My printer and laptop are connected to my wifi and my printer app says that my printer is online and I've downloaded the software needed for the printer on my laptop, but when I try to print something it tells me to check my printers internet connection over and over with everything I try to do. When I disconnect and reconnect my printer to the internet it says the connection is Excelent so I try tp print agian and it still says that the printer is offline when it's not, isn't connected to my wifi when it is, and other things like that. Can anyone help me fix this problem so I can print again? I've tried everything I can for hours and I've gotten no where. I've also reconnected the wifi to my laptop aswell and reset my router but I still have the same problem and I don't know what to do to fix it. Please help me!!

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that you cannot print with your HP Envy 4500, on Windows 8.1 using a wireless connection. I am happy to look into this printing issue for you!  A question for you, are you able to print a test page? Video: Printing a Test Page. In the meantime, please try the steps within the following guides:  'Offline' Printer Status Message Displays (Windows 8).Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal. Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router. If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals. You will also want to make sure that your router is only broadcasting at 2.4 ghz and not switching between 5 ghz.  Hope these guides, and information is helpful!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Is the IPhone 4GS capable of printing to my printer via WiFi? My laptop and printer uses WiFi connection

Is the iPhone 4G is capable of printing via Wi-Fi to my printer

It can if your printer is AirPrint compatible:

If not, there are applications like Print Central, Printopia, etc.

Hello. I have an iphone5 and I use it for a hotspot for mylaptop and printer. Does any one know a device that will extend its range? I have tried a Netgear and Belkin range extenders without any luck. The Belkin was closest to working. IT could find my iphone but when it create a new network, both the laptop and printer could not find the new extended network. Thank you!

Hi - you can do what you want to do with AirPlay from your iPhone - but unfortunately it is not as easy as the people in the Apple store told you - your first problem is that you have a non Apple router - you cannot extend a non Apple router wirelessly with the Express - you can only join the network and connect an ethernet device to it - you can however connect via ethernet and have it create a wireless network of its' own - you can set this up from your iPhone or the XP - but this is a complicated setup and would involve many different discussion areas of this forum - therefore I would suggest that you use your 90 days of support and consult directly with Apple to do this - go to this link - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

  • I have bought an airport express after being assured that I will be able to print from my IPad. I have installed airport utility on my Hp laptop and it is configured correctly but the printer I have is showing neither on laptop nor on IPad. Can u tell how

I bought an airport express after being assured that I will be able to AirPrint from my IPad. I have set up airport utility on my Hp laptop and configured it properly with the express. But still I'm not able to detect the printer attached to the USB port of airport express, neither on my laptop nor on my IPad. Can someone tell me if and how it can be done?

Who assured you that an AirPort Express would allow you to use AirPrint from an iPad. They were incorrect.
AirPrint from iPads and other iOS devices is only supported on a select few wireless network printers that expressly advertise that feature. An AirPort Express will not add that feature to a printer that does not support AirPrint. Also, for printers that do support AirPrint a wireless access point is not required since the printer needs to support wireless networks connections internally.
The HP laptop should however be able to print to the printer connected to the AirPort Express. Try also installing the Bonjour Print Services for Windows. It will make printer discovery a lot easier when using Bonjour enable devices like an AirPort Express.

  • HP Photosmart c309 and printing from Vista laptop on wired/wireless network

Ok going to be as thorough at possible here.
Its a brand new HP Photosmart c309 which I received this past Weds, so far so good both my Wife and I are enjoying it. Now I have it wired into my home network which consists of a Linksys switch in our home office and Netgear wireless router in the basement. The Linksys switch is wired to the router in the basement for internet/network connection...I have my Dell workstation running Windows XP SP3 (with all the latest patches from Microsoft, Mcafee AV) and the photosmart printer wired to the switch. I installed the HP software and drivers from the disk on the XP workstation and all is well...prints, scans and I'm able to view the printer settings, ink levels and what not.
NOW my Wife's Dell Vista laptop (which is patched to the latest from Microsoft, Mcafee AV) is getting really annoying. First I hate Vista but that’s another story...the Vista laptop connects to our home network via the wireless network through the Netgear router. So I followed the same steps as my XP workstation, it finds the printer during setup and all is well till the part when it wants to send a test page...so I opt to skip the photo test page and just do a standard one. Well it "sends" a test page or at least it looks like it does but nothing comes out of the printer (ie no activity from printer). The printer icon shows up in the system tray in the lower right hand corner of the screen near the time and when I put the mouse pointer over the icon is says "0 in queue" so I double click the icon to see if I can get more info and nothing happens. Right click the icon and choose open all active printers and again nothing. The printer icon is in the system tray for about 10-15 seconds and then disappears.
So I'm a little confused here, I check the printer in "printers & faxes" and both it and the fax part are listed...the printer even says it’s in "ready" status. I start the HP solution software on the laptop and I am able to scan from the printer to the Vista laptop fine, I'm able to view printer settings, network settings, ink levels and what not. I JUST CAN'T printer to it.
I tried another test page from the printer properties within Windows, again the icon shows up in the system tray and it says "0 in queue" and the icon disappears after 10-15 seconds. I then try to print a picture using the HP software and the same thing...icon shows up in system tray "0 in queue" and it disappears.
Did I do something wrong or am I missing a special step for Vista machines? I did uninstall and reinstall software/drivers and manually removed the printer and then reinstalled everything with no luck and no change...still acts the same.
I'm lost at what else to try. I think I tried the obvious stuff. I've searched the web to come up blank with a similar situation like mine...I've seen others complain about printing 1 page documents and the printer prints 3,6,16 pages at a time which is the opposite from my situation.
Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bruno

Have you received an answer to this question?  I'm having the exact same problem.  Spent 4 hours on the phone with HP tech support and no solution.

  • I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Standard DC andf upgraded from Acrobat XI. When I instalkled it on my PC the print Production Tools were there and functional. I installed it on my Laptop and those tolls are not there. What do I need to do to have Print Pro

I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Standard DC andf upgraded from Acrobat XI. When I instalkled it on my PC the print Production Tools were there and functional. I installed it on my Laptop and those tolls are not there. What do I need to do to have Print Production Tools on both computers?

This is quite odd. I wonder if you could try something for me on EACH computer.
Use Help > About Adobe Acrobat DC.
At the top of the box it should say Adobe Acrobat Pro DC or Adobe Acrobat Standard DC.
On each of the two machines, what does it say? (I think something odd has happened)

  • I have a HP Pavilion dv 2000 laptop and an HP Photosmart C7280 wireless printer.

I have an HP Pavilllion dv2000 laptop and an HP Photosmart C7280 wireless printer. They have worked well together until I reformatted and added Windows 7 on the laptop. I went online and downloaded the Windows 7 Printer Wizard. It recognizes my printer and says it has been installed. I have followed their directions and plugged USB cable into printer from laptop.  It prints that way. How can I get this to print wirelessly?

Hi I have an HP printer. I use an APP called print central from APP Store. Used this for the last 2 years on 2 IPhones & 3 iPads with no problems. Cheers Brian

  • Downloaded Canon printer/scanner drivers for Canon PIXMA MP520 and MX860 on Mac Book laptop, and they worked.  However, when I downloaded the same two drivers on Mac Book Air, neither worked.

Downloaded Canon printer/scanner drivers for Canon PIXMA MP520 and MX860 on Mac Book laptop, and they worked.  However, when I downloaded the same two drivers on Mac Book Air, neither worked.

I wasn't aware that VueScan charged a yearly license.
You simply launch Image Capture and if the scanner is recognized it will be listed in the SHARED list in the left display column.  Select the scanner name and the app will start an overview scan.  You will also see a list of scanning options in the right display column (resolution, paper size, file output format, etc.
The above description is when everything is working correctly, which has been the case for me.
    Good luck.

  • Laptop and Officejet 6500A Plus printer can't communicate using HP software

When I use Windows 7's built-in "Find New Printer" utility, I have no problem establishing communication between my laptop and my OfficeJet 6500 A Plus printer/scanner/fax. It works fine for printing, but I really need a scanner, so I try to use the HP software. I've tried both the full software package and the basic driver option, but the printer and the laptop can't seem to find each other, whether I use my Google fiber-based home Wi-Fi network or connect with a USB.
Both the laptop and the printer say they're connected to my home network. Any advice?

    Hello dionrwall,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are trying to install the 6500a Plus so you can scan, however you can not get the software to find the printer. I would like you to try using the HP Printer Install Wizard, this will act similar to the Windows installer for Plug N' Play.
Let me know if this is able to install the software correctly or if it fails.
    Cheers,

  • Deskjet 4480 and "Printer Offline" message after moving laptop and re-plugging.

I have an HP 4480 deskjet All-In-One printer wired to my HP dv6-2150us laptop (Win 7) with an USB cable. The printer is the network printer for my HP laptop and an Acer Aspire netbook (XP).
Often, when I unplug my laptop from the power source and from the printer's USB cable to take my laptop to another area to do some work and then bring it back to the computer table, and and reattach the cables to power and printer OR when I shut down or put into sleep mode my compter, the next time I attempt to print I will get a Printer Offline message.
At that point, I have to turn off the printer, unplug it from the laptop and power source, shut down the laptop and netbook, reattach everthing and plug all in again.
Then, my laptop, to which the laptop is plugged in by USB, will show that the printer is reinstalling, just as if it was the first time install.; I am even asked to re-register the printer.
Note that when the netbook is shut dow or, unplugged  to use elsewhere, it is often unabale to print, showing "no installed printer." Then I have to  search for a network printer and re-link it to the netbook.
All this is quite frustrating. I have read the forum for similar posts, but nothing quite seems to match.
As to a link offering a download for a printer trouble shooting link, i cannot seem to actually find the way to begin the download. I see a questionaire form but no download link. Hmm.
i am not a newbie, but stumped about this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
