laptop no sound HP Pavilion g6t-1d00 CTO Notebook PC Windows 7 64bit everything enabled. I don't want to try to install wrong code from forum searches.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55036.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Satellite C55-A5300 64 bit Laptop Lousy Sound From Headphones

Purchased a Satellite C55-A5300 64 bit Laptop from Best Buy.Speakers work great, headphone sounds LOUSY.Tried 3 different headphones, then went back to Best Buy and tried headphones on floor model.Still lousy. It's not the headphones, or the jack.Downloaded updates for Windows 8.0 (but not 8.1).Downloaded relevent driver updates from Toshiba website. No improvement. The headphones icon does not even show up in the sound tab/Control Panel,or in the RealTek assistant software but the Speaker icon does.Going back to generic RealTek driver from RealTek website.Restarting my computer now.

I went back to Best Buy and tested headphones on the floor model of the computer I purchased. It has the exact same problem-LOUSY headphone sound.I can't believe Toshiba put out bad hardware-it has to be the RealTek driver, which is specific for this Toshiba laptop.I actually downloaded and installed the generic driver from the RealTek website, and suddenly the RealTek card was MISSING in the Device Manager list.So I reinstalled the Toshiba driver, and I'm back to square one.

  • HP pavillion Dv6700 laptop no sound

Okay, so this just started happening yesterday. My sound just died. My speakers aren't detected. I've tried alot of things. Chatted with HP reps. And just no luck. I really do not want to send it in to be repaired for the price of 500$.
I can't seem to fix this problem.
Would it be possible to use a usb headset to hear audio ? As my mic still functions and people can hear me on skype.
Would  a usb headset work for audio ? Or is the sound card still going to be affected by the laptops sound card.
Wouldn't a usb headset have it's own sound card.
Also if anyone has a solution for this problem.. Please help.

You should have a regular headset port on the front of your laptop. Mine came with a set of earbuds which plug into it.That would be a cheaper way to see if you have audio through headset.

  • HP laptops diverting sounds from external speakers when headphones connected

    Hi there,
The problem is reproduced in several cases, but the most annoying is the following:
    1. Headphones are connected to the laptop (I assume all sounds must go to the headphones, not to the speaker)
    2. Have skype (or googletalk or several other apps) run in background
    3. Have browser (chrome, firefox) open and youtube video is being showed
    4. Message comes to IM (skype, gtalk...) and when BEEP from the application is played - it is played not in headphones, but in external speakers!
I though the issue was with skype - but after some time I faced with the same problem in other apps - and it is not reproduced on other laptops (not HP).
The problem is being seen on several different HP laptops. Here is details of my laptop:
    HP ProBook 6550b WD700EA#ACB
    Windows7 Enterprise 64bit, SP1

Ok I have it Fixed on my computer.
In the control panel then sound there are 3 devices.
    AMD HDMI Output
    AMD High Definition Audio Device
    Speakers and Headphones
    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
    Communications Headphones
    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
What apears to happen is that as soon as a communications type program starts it devides the audio inbetween 2 mixers and seperated the headphone jack from the main audio card. As soon as I right clicked and disabled the "Communications Headphones" Then there is only one mixer that focres all applications to use the heaphone jack instead of the regular applications through the external speakers and communication applications to the headphone.
If for any reason you want to reactivate the "Communications Headphones" one you disable you will need to right click in the sound windows and select show disabled devices.

  • G580 Laptop - No Sound From Speakers

I just got my new G580 (model 20157 - Windows 7 Home Premium)  yesterday and I've been trying since then to fix the audio problem.
There is no sound coming out from the speakers, but there is sound  when I use headphones.
I've restarted the laptop many times due to installing Windows updates, but I noticed sound coming from the speakers only about twice.
I've deactivated and reinstalled the drivers from Lenovo website, I did a system restore (speakers worked for a while after that) and I even did a factory default restore, but to no avail.
In another thread someone suggested to make a gentle rotary motion with a toothpick or headphones and I have tried that with my headphones and I didn't get any result. I might have done it wrong, but I don't think so.
I would like to take it to a technician to check, but the problem is that I am going to be traveling abroad from next week for the next few months, so I don't think I have enough time to wait for the technicians to fix it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    hi brightday,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
Since you already did a factory reset, this rules out the possibility of a driver problem. From the looks of it, there's a big possibility that there's a problem with the speaker or the wires that connects the speaker to the motherboard. What you can try is to reseat the speaker connectors. If you're up for it, you could check page 59 of the hardware maintenance manual.
Here's the layout of the speakers:

  • Hp laptop plays sound in mute

    HP Pavilion DV7 6011tx
    Windows 7 home premium
Problem: I mute my laptop and I can still hear system sounds, like skype start and quit actions. Windows start and shutdown actions. Why laptop is making sounds after being in mute?

    Hey Siouxfalls,
Right-Click on your Sound icon > Open the sound volume mixer.
There are System Sounds and Program sounds.  You can mute them separately.
If you have more than just these showing, you can control the others separately, as well.

  • New beats laptop crackle sound

I just got this laptop yesterday I absolutely love it, but when I have music playing or any other sound source there is a static or crackle noise near the right speaker. Subtle but completely annoying.

I've been posting my tip around the site, but I thought posting it here would be easier than you guys having to look for suggestions.
I just got my laptop yesterday and I've been trying to figure why the beats audio sounds like doo-doo.
I found a way to make the sound balanced and not uber choppy.
Go to Control Panel > Sound
Click Speakers and Headphones > Properties
Under Enhancements choose what you would like to enhance.
I clicked Bass Boost, Virtual Surround, and Loudness Equilization.
Next is the most important, click Levels.
When I first clicked this my Bass was set to -20 and my Treble to 4. 100% polar opposites and this was the default settings!
I set my bass to 4 and treble to 0 and I don't hear and crackling or clipping. I'm happy now.
You may also need to play around with the equalizer levels in the Beats Interface to get it just right for you, but the Beats Tour setting sounds decent now.
    I hope this helps.

Try a system reset. Power off your unit, unplug everything including the AC, remove the battery, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds, replace the battery and AC, power on, at the Toshiba logo press the 'F2' key to enter setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, boot into Windows and test your sound.
If this doesn't work give us your current operating system version, like Windows XP 32bit.
Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • How to line out laptop to sound board

These newer laptops have no line out. What is the best way to connect a laptop to a sound board ? We need to be able to get sound from the computer through the sound board out to the main speakers? Will a USB interface work? The headphone jack would produce poor sound quality I am thinking..

    Vlakslee wrote:

    Hi,
I think not really true, they all have at least one output for headphones which can be treated as line out. If your laptop had HDMI you can get sound from there too.

  • HP DV6 DV6184CA windows 7 laptop no sound from laptop speakers

Yesterday I was having no issues, as all normal sounds were present (i.e. Windows start-up/shut-down, as well as able to hear mp3 music played on Media Player).  Then I accidently pressed the mute button and now I no longer hear sounds...advanced PC user ...tried everything. I can not hear any system sounds, nor manually force any sounds to be heard.  When I look at the volume mixer, I can see the green bar rising and falling (when playing music) so it seems like the sound is being generated but just not being relayed to the internal speakers and/or headphone jacks.  Likewise when I open the "Sound" window, my default device is the "Speakers and Headphones, IDT High Definition Audio CODEC", and it shows the same activity on the green verticle bars.  I do not use any external speakers. I need the latest audio drivers for my chipset (AMD) I tried the ones on the HP support web-site and they didn't work. I uninstalled the old drivers and reinstalled  using Device Manager and Software Maintenance ...nothing is helping.
The audio troubleshooter did not identify any issues.  All drivers/etc appear to be running properly with no problems noted.  I have not installed any new programs in the recent past (but I honestly don't know if some update occured without my knowledge).
Something similar to this happened to me a couple months ago.  Sound randomly disappeared that time too, but came back just as randomly several days later.  Now that it has happened again, I would like to not only fix it but determine the cause so it doesn't re-appear again and again in the future.
Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  And if there is any further information I should provide to give a better view of the situation, just let me know and I'll do my best.  Thanks!

    Hi,
First of all, you can certainly try the procedure but skip the step of reinstalling the AMD package - after uninstalling the current IDT driver from its entry in Device Manager, just go straight to:
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Then the next procedure - this in no way updates the bios, just resets the default values.  As the bios provides the interface between your notebooks hardware and the operating system, resetting the default values can correct issues that may be present here.
Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button.
