Laptop editors any out there?

I am in the market for a new Laptop to replace an old dual core that has treated me well for over 5 years. My current laptop specs listed below. (not the one i am replacing. The one I am replacing isn't worth mentioning.)
HP i7q720 quad core @ 1.60ghz
     8gb ram
     1 tb hard drive
     win 7 64bit OS
    Geforce GT 230m Video card
    Running CS5 Premiere Pro
It works pretty good with CS5. I can do 3 multicam edit streams in realtime.   I haven't tried 4 but I might be pushing it. When I have 4 Multicam Edit Streams I use the 8 core Mac in my office. (not by choice it is what the company is making me use, It use to have final cut pro on it but seeing that is a thing of the past i convinced them to go CS5 Suite.)
But I edit a lot on the road and it is nice to have the laptop to do edits with the client watching.
Seeing HP doesn't offer Nvidia cards anymore (which is a bad move on their part IMHO) I am looking else where for a new Laptop.
I saw this MSI computer that got pretty decent reviews on AOTS but seems to be a bit pricey for what ya get Link here
The MSI Computer has a nice video card Nvidia Geforce GTX 570m DDR5 1.5gb VRam, 1tb hard drive, 12GB DDR3 Ram and a i7-2630QM (amazon says it is only a 2 core system but I looked up that processor and it says quad core.) It also has a 17 inch Screen.

              i7-2670QM quad core (4x2.20ghz/6mb cache)
               8 gigs of ram (i can add another 8 to make it 16 later on if needed)
               NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560m 1.5gb GDDR5 video card
               750 gig at 7200rpm
I am leaning more towards the ibuypower 15inch laptop seeing I already have a 17" laptop and it is nice to have the smaller size if needed.
Let me know your thoughts.   I also will be buying CS5.5 for this so i will have two machines to edit DSLR and Panasonic HMC 150 that both use the AVCHD codec.

I have two 500gig in my HP one for OS, Program Files one for video/project Storage.
The Ibuypower laptop will only have one 750gig hard drive. So that might be an issue.
I would have to get a 17" laptop from them to get two drives in there. So you think that is a good idea?

P.S. Believe you me. I have on my wish list a great i7 2700k, 16gig ram, 8tb hard drive, HAF case, etc on my wish list but I am never home to edit and under the circumstances I can't disclose right now. I need to be as moble as possible with an editing machine.

Do a time lapse of a whole group painting a graffiti of JOEY BONDI on a brick wall. Intercut it with POV footage.
Duct tape the camera to Joey's Helmet, and intercut that with the Graffiti. At the end of the sequence have your son take the helmet off, turn it around, and Mug for the camera, maybe even introduce himself.
Do green screen of the letters of the name written with different colored sharpies (not Green!) on cardboard or newpaper or the pages of a skate magazine. Crumple up the letters gradually. Run the result backward a 1000% (or more) so the letters reveal from the crumpled paper. Chroma key these letters over the POV footage of your camera smashing into the wall at the bottom of the hill to signal the end of the title sequence.
Or just fire up LiveType and Motion, and play with textures and fonts and effects and filters. Listen to the music you will be cutting to while you work in the graphics applications.

Thunderbolt docks for external video cards. Any out there?

I am finally retiring my Mac Pro 1,1 for a stacked i7 Mac Mini. The only downside to the Mini is the onboard Intel HD Graphics 4000. I've already upgraded to the ATI Radeon HD 5770 and would like to keep that power.
To that end, I've been looking for a Mac-compatible Thunderbolt-enabled external graphics dock. Across the web, I've read about upcoming products from LucidLogix, MSI (GUS II) and Village Instruments (ViDock), but none of these seem to be available to market. I also realize that there are a lot of docks that could be used with a PCIe to Thunderbolt adapter, but that just seems like a costly pain.
Any good solutions out there?

You should check out the Silverstone T004. It can supply up to 450 watts to a graphics card and will cost between $200 and $300. Of, course I'm hoping for the $200 price.
I emailed a Silverstone representative and he said that they're hoping to be able to release it in the first quarter of 2014.

Bluetooth stereo headsets - any out there better than S9-HD, 9xxbackbeat

and jaybird? I have owned all three brands in the last month trying to find the best pair possible (thanks to best buys return policy) however, I'm looking for something a little more high end. I can not find any other ones that are higher priced or appear to be better than these "big three" at the moment.

I just got my S9-HD with the D650. I followed the directions from Motorola to set up the D650 for iPod.
Turn off Bluetooth on the iPhone.
Plug in the D650.
Put the phone in iPod mode, start a song and press PAUSE.
Then turn on the S9-HD power to put it in search mode.
Let the D650 find the headset and pair it. The light starts flashing slowly when it's paired.
Then, unplug the D650, turn off iPod mode, and go to Settings on the iPhone and turn Bluetooth on.
Restart the S9 headset back in search mode until the iPhone finds it an pairs.
Now, the phone headset works fine. When you plug the D650 in and listen to the iPod (works fine). But when you try to go to the phone mode while the D650 is plugged in, it won't stay in the phone mode. It just pops up and shuts right back down. So it doesn't appear that the phone headset will interrupt the music and allow you to use the phone as long as the D650 is plugged in.
Any help?

Any good lab setups out there?

I've been tinkering with my desktop lab, a nested workstation running vsphere instances, virtual center, iscsi, etc....
I'm kind of stuck though, I want to do some labs, but there's not really any out there that seem to be interesting, without being a "pay for" lab book. Any ideas?

I have an inexpensive Motorola BT headset, model HS815 that I got for my cell phone. It works just fine with Skype and iChat.

Since downloading Iphoto 11, we now cannot import photos from our Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ-15 camera. Any ideas out there as to why this is occuring. I can still import them onto my laptop which is running Iphoto9

Since downloading Iphoto 11 onto our desktop computer we now cannot import the photos from our Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ15 into Iphoto. However I can import them from the camera onto my Macbook which is still running Iphoto 9.
When I connect the camera and IPhoto loads, the spinning wheel just keeps on spinning and nothing happens, I have to Force Quit Iphoto to get out of the program. Totally frustrated, it would seem that it is an Iphoto 11 software problem. Any suggestions out there?

not sure what happens here right now, I didn't mean to be offensive. So please let's stay calm. There are some issues with Panasonics described in these threads, and they do sound similar to the issue I'm facing (somewhat hard to say, as a) these people do not use exactly the same camera as I do and b) the descriptions of their problems are not very detailed). I would retract the term "a LOT of issues". Sorry.

but then the discussion there stopped. Since we were still able to import images manually into iPhoto (and took care of leaving out already imported pictures ourselves), we could live with this as a workaround.
Since everything worked well recently on my machine with the latest iPhoto version, I decided to upgrade iPhoto on my wife's Mac (where the import problems occured) from '09 to latest '11 (9.2.1). However, after that iPhoto still could not import from the Panasonic's SD card (rotating ball when inserting the card reader, and rotating ball after starting up iPhoto afterwards even w/o card reader plugged in, until the next reboot). So I re-built iPhoto's database (32000 images - 12 hours). Didn't help either. It worked however with a Casio Z-1000's SD card. Thus I re-formatted the Panasonic card yesterday and it seems to work since then.
My point is that I consider it weird that a SD card works with one Mac and doesn't work with another, although both use the same version of OS X and iPhoto. And, I'm somewhat doubtfull that re-formatting the card will solve this issue permanently. I believe that I tried to re-format the card already back in September, when I dealt with the issue for the first time, but I have no prove of that.
I will keep an eye on it and will report here if the problem comes up again.

Update: An Apple rep called me today to update the status of my return. I was told that the replacements for the BLACK iPad 2's was still another 3 weeks out (at least) so they offered me a brand new WHITE 16GB iPad 2. I could have that or continue waiting. I opted to go ahead and accept the offer of a new white one. Worst case scenario if I don't like the white one I have buddy that just bought a 16GB black one that he would be willing to swap it.

There is no reason to not port a number from another provider (unless leaving a contract early and being charged the ETF) for if one does decide to switch back to their previous provider within the first 30 days after making the switch, the previous provider will take one back with welcome arms and the same phone number can be used this way.
Your way required getting a new phone number which can't be changed or potted after the fact for single line account.

This has three fans, two of which are dedicated to the CPU and GPU, one for each. The laptop is designed specifically for gaming.

If you select a mailbox, you should get an Edit button (easier to see in landscape mode). Clicking the button will provide you with check circles for the messages. You also get Delete and Move buttons at the bottom. Check the messages you want to move and then navigate to the mailbox you want to drop them into. I think as long as you can navigate to a mailbox you can move the messages to it.
In the Mac Mail application and probably Outlook on the Windows side, you also setup rules to move messages to specific mailboxes. If the mailboxes are stored on the server, then you can have the sorting done on the server and they should appear that way on the iPad. If your later messages do not show up, you may need to have the iPad app pulled down more messages until they are all showing.

It might be logical to someone, but not to me. I agree it's a pain.
How did you change your Apple ID? Creating a new one is not what you want to do, but if you changed the ID associated with your purchases then that might have worked. You would need to sign in with the Apple ID on both your iPod Touch as well as in iTunes. I'm not sure how you changed it but clearly they need to match.
If it's just your password that is not getting recognized reset it here: http://iforgot.apple.com/
It will send an email confirmation to the email address associated with that Apple ID. The email address you elect to use might not look anything like your Apple ID. If you don't appear to get an email check your spam filter.
