Hello IvanST-HR,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the fan is constantly spinning. The fan should always be spinning a little bit. If it spinning heavily all the time, though, you may want to try the steps in this document: Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal
Please let me know your results. Thanks!

    Hi,
I' trying to control the laptop fan on a Lenovo Y500.
I followed the wiki article on fancontrol and also tryied tp-fand, but both dont seem to find any fans.
My laptop is never going into full fan speed, one of the fans isn't working at all I think.
I made a stress test with arch and windows and compared the results.
Are there any other options I can try?

  • The laptop fan makes sound when i play games on my laptop...what could be the problem?

the laptop fan makes sound when i play games on my laptop...what could be the problem?

Then install iStat Menus 4.04 so you can provide us with some temperature and fan speed data.
What about before you start the game? After you start the game do this:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If it's the game causing the problem then either something is wrong with the game or it's not compatible with Lion.

  • My laptop fan speed is always going so high...

    Hello there.
My laptop fan speed is always running so loud most of the time when I don't even have many programs running. How can I control the fan speed?

    Yes, you can:
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23049
However, I'd look at the root cause also. See what processes are running and see if any are hogging the processor

  • Laptop fan problem in X11

It seems that whenever I start X, the laptop fan will keep going on and off, which is really annoying. Can someone give me some help? Is it about acpi?

    Captain Spaulding wrote:
Probably your laptops gets warm while running X and ACPI starts the fan. Or are you talking about hysteresis effects? An easy way to find out is to drop to a terminal whenever the fan starts up and check the temperatures.
    acpi -t
I'm actually talking about hysteresis effects...

    Hey there Saurabh,
I would make sure your vents are clear of debris or dust. Take some compressed air and blast out the vents to make sure nothing is wedge in there that is causing the sound.
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • Is laptop fan supposed to keep spinning after suspend?

    Hi,
Just purchased Asus A53U laptop, wiped the drive, and put Arch on it.
This is the first laptop that I'm actually using on an everyday basis. So I have a question: isn't the laptop fan supposed to spin down after suspend? If so, I have a problem on my hands - it doesn't. I installed laptop mode tools, pm-utils, upower, acpid... nothing helps It looks like suspend is working as the device does turn off the screen and I get a tty-like screen right before that, and it does wake up from it correctly. However, the fan keeps spinning all the time, which is definitely killing the battery.
    Help?

You should search in your netbook's BIOS/UEFI for something like that ; Suspend State : S1 or S3.
S1 suspend state will keep your CPU, GPU ... awake, so with fans on.
S3 states is an really low-energy state : Just the RAM is powered, no fans on.
If your BIOS don't have such an option, check for BIOS/UEFI updates on the Asus website

    Hi.
I failed to configure xorg.conf to get "static" dual head configuration, but I managed to do this with xrandr
2 tricks i had to do:
    1. define sufficiently large "Virtual" size in "Display" subsection in "Screen" Section of your xorg.conf
    2. xrandr -q allowed me to use 1024x768 maximum  resolution, but I found in google setup for 1280x1024 and added it with "newmode" and "addmode" options in randr...
you can find more info at http://www.intellinuxgraphics.org/dualhead.html, and in xrandr manpage.
    I hope it will help...

  • Rattling laptop fan

My laptop fan starts making a rattling noise when it runs at high speed during gaming or whenever it decides to run fast. Could it be bearings? Is this covered under warranty?
    Thanks

    Same here ....
My laptop also having this rattling fan+noise when using it around 15 minutes. Been using this laptop around 10 months & just happen since 2-3 months ago.. haven't check yet wether the fan got dust over it or not. When checked using Everest Ultimate, got the temperature around 90 to 97 celcius

  • HP Laptop Fan Isn't Working

I have an HP Laptop, model G62-367Dx.  A couple days ago, my laptop would turn on, work for 15-minutes, then freeze and shut down.  Looking around on the internet, I found forums suggesting my vent and fan may need dusting.  So, I bought compressed air and dusted out my vents.
After cleaning my laptop, I tried turning it on, only to find the same results.  When I restarted it, I saw the following message on the screen:
"The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly.
Continued operation is not recommended and may cause unpredictable behavior that could result in random shutdown, data loss or possible system damage. The system will shut down in 15 seconds. To prevent shutdown and continue operation, press the Enter key now.
    System Fan (90b)"
While my computer was running, I examine the fan to see that it was not turning at all.  Is there anyway I can get the fan turning again?  Or do I have to replace my fan or computer?

I am also facing the same issue and the same error as you explained. Can any one help...

    i have HP Pavillion dv6-6c65sx

i bought my laptop a few months ago

i took it to the technical support
    they have changed the motherboard
    the problem was solved
    byt anothe proplem appeared
my laptop always on and too loud
    even the processor is cool
it blow cool air out of air vents
thats mean there isn't any overheating inside
i dowloaded a program to show me the processor temp.
it ranged between 43 and 50 celesius
i just want to know if i can change the rage which fan working on
or its a technical issue and i have to go technical support

This is the problem of the fan and not BIOS/System problem.
At such temperature Fan always keep cooling your laptop.
The cooler the laptop is the better working and lifespan!
If fan makes noise, get only the fan replaced.

  • Laptop Fan Noise

Hi, whenever i turn on my laptop, there's this buzzing noise coming from the cpu fan. i sent it to a repair shop to clean the fan, but the problem still exists. i suspect it's more of a hardware issue than the fan, and if so, where can i get a replacement fan for my laptop? Have been using this laptop for about 1/1.5 years now, problem appeared recently.

I would suggest you to do a BIOS update for the unit, and then follow the instructions mentioned in the following links:

  • G61 laptop fan on all the time

(Reposted because the model number was incorrect first time around)
    Hi,
Around a week after I bought it, I have noticed that the fan in my Windows 7 G61 laptop is very loud and constantly on, starting the moment the machine is turned on. I have heard that this can be changed in the BIOS by disabling "Fan Always On" but I am not happy to do this as I am worried that the system will overheat.
The fan noise is not due to dust accumulation as the laptop is brand new, and there is nothing blocking the vents. Furthermore, the fan is on even when the machine is stone cold with nothing but Windows running.
The problem appears to have only just made itself felt as I am sure I would have noticed it earlier.
    I have two questions:
    - Is it safe to disable "Fan Always On" in BIOS while running on battery or AC?
    - Is there any other way to keep the fan quieter?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi I'm also having this problem. Fan will stay on at full speed although cpu and harddrive stay relatively cool. The air getting blown out the vent is also cool indicating that its software and not the hardware since its brand new (under a month old). I have also checked for a bios update which there was one. I updated to it fine but still fan stays at full speed. I have tried turning off the bios option 'fan allways on' but then I find that the fan does not come on enough to cool the internals and gets slightly too hot for comfort. I now think its due to the fan algorithms in the bios being borked and that hp knew about this fault and were lazy and just stuck fan allways on option instead of properly optimizing and alternating the fan speeds. all left to do now is wait for hp to realize consumers are being affected by this and will release a proper bios update. Thanks. Matt
