Laptop freezes every 2-3 seconds
i have a dual boot laptop(toshiba) ubuntu 12.04and win 7 home premium. the laptop suddenly started running very slow. when i restarted first it showed grub rescue> console. from next restart it started showing "exiting pxe rom no bootable device insert boot disk...." after searchin in internet i found that MBR is the problem and should fix it. so i booted from windows installation disc and did fix the mbr(used these commands bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot). the laptop started but there was no grub.
then i installed a copy of ubuntu 12.04.
the lap top now switches on (sometimes it shows "exiting pxe rom no bootable device insert boot disk....") when it is switched on it ll work sometimes bu tmost of the times it freezes every 2-3 seconds. i performed a SMART analysis in UBUNTU. it showed HDD is having some bad sectors (count 174).
Is there any repair softwares for my HDD(Model Toshiba mk5061gsyn). my lapto warranty is over.
Download a program such as CPU-Z and leave it running on a separate screen (or on the same screen and have your game windowed) and see if your CPU is being throttled abnormally. If that is the case, go ahead and download ThrottleStop and fiddle around with the settings. I have an Envy 14 that was displaying similar behavior. Although I haven't gotten it to completely stop (I'm hoping it helps if I fiddle a bit more), ThrottleStop helped immensely and games are very playable now!

Audio cuts out and video "freezes" every 10-15 seconds
So I recently switched to Verizon (about 2 weeks ago) for internet and tv. After about a week (with no video or audio issues), I decided that I wanted to get a DVR. So they shipped me a DVR Set Top Box - model is CHS 435HDC.
When watching live TV the problem isnt THAT bad...every 1-2 minutes the audio will cut out and the video will pixelate for about 1 second, and then it continues right along.
When watching a TV show that I recorded on the DVR it is REALLY bad...basically unwatchable. The audio and video will cut out briefly every 10-15 seconds, then it continues along normally for another 10 seconds or so then it cuts out for a second and continues again.
Obviously I'm going to ask for a different DVR to be sent to me but if it happens again with the next box I may just cancel and switch back to the "other guy". This is a pretty bad start to what I thought would be a new and better experience. (Im not even going to go into the horrible on-demand menu system.)
Wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem before with their DVR?

Go to Solution.Generally but not always pixelation and picture break up is an issue with the signal to the set top box. Sometimes it's as simple as a loose coax cable, or the connector has come loose from the cable itself. There are other causes, but those are the easiest to start checking. Skype freezes every about 10 seconds.
Does anybody knows a fix? It's mostly happen when I'm in call with a friend or interacting with skype(chats and overlay) and Skype will not be responsive every few seconds and my voice will cut off whenever I'm speaking and sometimes disconnects , then reconnects the call after its freezes.
I really appreciate if you guys can help.

Laptop freezes every time i try to print
so i posted before about issues getting my laptop to print over the network. my dad sent me this link http://macs.about.com/od/macwindows/ss/printsharevista.htm and i followed the steps. only issue i had was i accidentally deleted the printer i already had install. seemed like no issue, i reinstalled it, however, now anytime i try to print the computer freezes. i didnt have this issue before. and i didnt have it until after i had to reinstall it. any ideas? oh and it still wont print over the network. i live three hours away from a apple store a freaking number would be nice to have to call support.
if it is out of warranty it will cost you for the call.

Win 8.1 upgrade, laptop freeze for 10 second

Anyone experiences this, after upgrading for Win 8.1, my laptop freezes 10 seconds every now and then. It doesn't matter if I am running just the browser or working in excel. Anyone have similar problems and any solutions?Can you please give full notebook model but also BIOS and ME version please?
It sounds like some incompatibility with drivers. -
Toshiba Qosmio X505 Q8102 freezes every few seconds in games.
Again i have to post in this forums, so im not satisfied and dissapointed..
The laptop is freezing every few seconds in most 3D games, i thought it's the OS problem, so installed a fresh copy of Windows7 (original), downloaded newest drivers from toshiba support site, and installed every one of the without problem. But the problem is still here.. Don't know what to do, gave 1800$ for this pice of junk and ill i got is problems..
I'm not a newbie within computers, working with them for past 15 years (at the moment Network Administrator in Croatian Military).
Tried replacing the memory, hdd, and still nothing, same problem.. The warranty expired and doesn't work in Europe.. Contacted US support and asked for recovery disks because this **bleep** recovery partition is damaged and can't boot from recovery.. tried with Toshiba media builder but same problem, doesn't work -_-... One thing is for sure.. im never gonna buy Toshiba again. Oh yeah, forggot tu mention, I've contacted Toshiba Croatia for recovery disks and support, and they said to me that thy don't give recovery disks and don't sell them (than why can i buy recovery dvd's from toshiba us?, and can't from Croatia)..
Anyway, if no one can tell me any solution it will be crashed with hammer and burn it (because i have no nerves for it any more).. I use the laptop very often and i need it for my job..
Before i buyed this laptop i was in doubt, buy toshiba or alienware? Hmm, made a huge mistake..

Yeah, i know the procedure with the zerro key, and with toshiba media creator to make backup dvd-s etc, but non of that work because my recovery partition is kinda damaged, don't know why is that so. Didn't mess with the hdd or anything else. But that's not the problem, installed a fresh copy of windows, updated it and installed drivers and everything i need, than made a acronis secure zone on my hdd and made recovery by my self and works great.
But bigger problem is why the hell is he freezing every now and than in games, just stops for half of a second and than continues normaly for few seconds, another thing, while its frozen the sound freezes aswell, tried another sound driver, updated everything and still got same problem.. -
I have been having this problem with elements ever since the last OS upgrade, but it wasn't all the time and it wasn't very bad. Now, I have upgraded my macbook again, and I cannot even edit a photo!! I open the photo, choose an action, say "smooth skin", then choose the paint brush, I start to "paint" over their face and it won't paint a line, I have to keep clicking it, click - it paints, move brush, click again - it paints. Plus, every time I choose a tool or an action, it freezes for about 10 seconds, then catches up to what I am doing, 30 seconds later, it freezes again. HELP!! I have 8 sessions to finish editing by this weekend!! I just want to cry!!

My macbook pro freezes every few seconds

About a week ago my MBP started freezing every few seconds showing the well known spinning beach balls every time, even when running no apps, I've sepnt plenty of time looking for a solution, I've read this problem might be due to a physically damaged hard drive, bt I've tested it several times using different apps and it shows no error, I've read from another discussion about Etrecheck as a useful app to quickly gather certain system information that may help point to a cause of this problem, so I hope some of you guys can help me checking the log output. Firefox freezes every few minutes for a few seconds.
Firefox keeps freezing every few minutes, for a few seconds at a time. It's infuriating. It just happened right now while I was typing "infuriating". It's happened since I installed the Facebook Video Chat Plug-In, but I uninstalled that and it keeps happening.
Probably an over active security or "cleaning" program that's kicking in every few minutes and messing with Firefox.

Video freezes every few seconds
My new iPad video playback freezes every few seconds. I have a decentish Internet speed (2.3MB) and have turned all apps off and even reset. Any ideas?
Does it always take a long time to buffer the video? Can take several minutes for a video of the same length.

Itunes literally freezes every 10 seconds doing anything
Itunes literally freezes every 5 seconds, anything that i click on eg. music, deleting a song, renaming a song, clicking on the movies tab, basically any basic function of clicking something on itunes. It freezes up for 10-15 secs then works again. At this rate, it is almost impossible to even transfer songs or edit them. Please help! I look forward to ur responses!
Ps. I have uninstalled and reinstaslled programs such as Bonjour, Quicktime and Itunes itself over and over three times. Same thing happens again.Lets see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working? -
Premier pro play back screen goes black a freezes every 15 minute . This is my second mac pro with identical problems.
SOLVED!!!!!
SO I did some more digging around and read ATI cards seem to overheat easily. I knew the fan was working, but after closer inspection I realised there was ALOT of built up dust on the card and clogging the fan and airflow. Blew it out with alot of compressed air, stuck it back in the Mac and BAM...no black screens. I tested it by streaming 6 video sources...doing 2 screen captures at once as well as watching a HD movie in fullscreen. Did all this for 30 minutes and no crashes. I also downloaded an app to monitor the temps inside the computer and the expansion bay stays at 41 degrees. No clue what it was before but obviously it was hotter than that. So my problem is solved! Funny that 10.7.5 made the card work harder. I wonder if its off loading some CPU stuff to the GPU for processing more than 10.7.4 so its just working a bit harder and so it heats up faster.... -
OS X Mavericks freezes every 15 seconds
Hi community , in brief ,after 2 forced shutdowns , my mac keeps freezing every laps of time(between 15 to 1minute), especialy when i open google chrome or lunch video or music.
No Google drive and no Logitech Mouse connected to my MacBook pr mid 2012 device.
I tried safe mode , guest user and both are freezing.

it solves my problem.
i think it's not OS it's just chrome or other things make it happen.
why don't you try re-install chrome or other programs.
