Laptop frozen

I was able to use my laptop last night and shut down, then when i tried to turn it on the next day it gets stuck with the hp logo on the screen and seems like it is trying to load/open but remains stuck that way. It will do that for a few seconds then the screen goes black and the logo pops up as if it trying to go to the login screen but fails. What can i do? I tried to hit ctrl/alt/delete and nothing happens. Ive shut off completely and turn back on and get no results.

Try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Plug in the AC Adapter ( leave the battery out for the moment ) and see if the notebook will start. If it still doesn't start, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, reinsert the battery and the tap away at f2 as soon as you power on to access the Diagnostic Menu and run a full set of tests - post back with the results including any error code that may be generated.

Deauthorize all 5 existing authorized computers with one of the computers you know is currently authorized with your iTunes account. Follow this be re-authorizing each existing available computer that you want or need to be authorized with your iTunes account.

Closed Lid == Laptop Frozen

Hello:
Everytime I close the lid on my laptop the screen goes back, the mouse either disappears or freezes and I have to press the power button to restart it or turn it off. This happen even if xorg is not running or if I close it a little bit before the shutdown process finishes.
Any ideas on how to fix/debug?
Laptop: Dell Latitude x300
Kernel: 2.6.32-ARCH

Another quick question, I have 'cpufreq_ondemand' in my module array and this is my /etc/conf.d/cpufreq file:

Any ideas why I must write ' sudo cpufreq-set -g ondemand' to give the the govenor ondemand pecedance over the 'performance' one every time I start the laptop? Did I miss something in the configuration?

Jonathan , I am experiencing the same exact problems with my Macbook Pro 15 inch. I first started noticing about a month ago that the computer was getting unusually HOT to the touch , and after one day I set the lid down, when I tried to open it back up, it remained on , but no screen, and unresponsive. I have had to restart it everytime since then. It also now takes a lot longer than usual to reboot. I hope the people at Apple resolve this soon, because this is WAY too expensive to be having these problems on a new machine Ive only had for 5 months.

Laptop frozen while Repairing Disk: how do i get out?

Yesterday I had some problems with my PowerBook G4 not wanting to boot from the install CD. (Thanks to Kenichi Wantanabe and Dale Weisshaar for helping me out with the PRAM solution).
The first thing I did once I got the computer to accept the install disk was to repair permissions and attempt to repair the hard drive. That's when my current problem began.
The computer seems to be hung up in one spot on 'Repairing disk' for about half an hour or more now and I can't stop the repair or force quit. The only thing I can think of to do is to boot down manually but I'd rather only do this as a last resort. Anyone have any other suggstions?

I'm afraid that there is no other way to shutdown the system.
Just hold down the power button or a view seconds to shut it down.

Try this repair for Keynote 6.2, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

empty the trash: Finder > Empty Trash

Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.
Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive

when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click repair disc permissions

when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart

Have you tried a hard reset yet to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. This may take a couple of tries.

Whenever I connect my Ipod Nano to my Dell Laptop, the iTunes appears and gets frozen. When I disconnect it, the iTunes works normally. I connect the Ipod, the iTunes does not work. What do I do????

First try forcing it to shut down: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds.
If you don't get anywhere, restoring it is the next step:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector)release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.

If you are having the same issue on several computers then it is a hardware issue! Not a software issue! Replacement is the only resolution!
