Laptop HP 14d-006La has only one audio jack (mic/headset)

Laptop HP 14d-006La has only one audio jack (mic/headset)
How can I solve this?
I need to use my headset built-in mic instead of the laptop intengrated mic but it has only 1 audio jack, Can I solve this by software? or at least can I choose wether use the jack as mic or use it as external speaker?
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi EdgarNaranjo,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP 14-d006la Notebook  and having issues with connecting a microphone. Audio-out (headphone)/Audio-in (microphone) jack connects optional powered stereo speakers, headphones, earbuds, a headset, or a television audio cable. Also connects an optional headset microphone. This jack does not support optional microphone-only devices. Be sure that the device cable has a 4-conductor, a connector that supports both audio-out (headphone) and audio-in (microphone). Here is a document on connecting a microphone.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

I will be using a HDMI cable to connect an Apple TV box and a Comcast cable TV box to my TV. My TV has only one HDMI port.
To do this I will need a 2x1 HDMI splitter or a 2x1 HDMI auto switch (preferred).
?Is there any Apple TV HDMI port voltage?
When using a HDMI auto switch to connect two devices to a HDMI TV, the
Auto switch cable box only works for components that do not output continuous voltage over HDMI port when turned off.
Do you know of any other solutions? Componets? Actual expierances?
    Full text below.
Cable : HDMI switches expand the number of available HDMI ports on a high definition television allowing connection of cable boxes, Blu-ray players, and game consoles. A side benefit is that cable clutter is also eliminated by running a single HDMI cable to your HDTV from a switch and relocating the HDMI ports to a concealed location. The problem with most HDMI switches is that you have to either get up to push a button, or hunt for the remote control, to switch sources. The true mark of any great switching component is an ability to perform its function and remain transparent in its operation. This automatic HDMI switch is a plug-and-play away from offering everything you are looking for in an HDMI switch. Select a single output from up to three devices for signal delivery to your HDTV. Smart operation provides complete control for connect-and-forget operation. Powering on a device gives it output priority over the other devices. By powering down the device in use, output priority is returned to the last powered on device. Note: Auto switch function only works for components that do not output continuous voltage over HDMI port when turned off.

    Hi Erico,
I tried what you said again but without success. I even updated the driver so that that audio driver is the same as the graphics driver i.e.. NVIDIA but this has not helped either:
Do you have any other ideas?

  • Two jack headset, but only one audio port

My son has an HP Mini 110-3100 Notebook PC, which contains only one audio port.  He also has a headset with two jacks:  one for the microphone and one for the headphones.  Is there a way that he can use this headset such that both the microphone AND headphones work properly?  Please advise as he is home-schooled and is taking courses through a virtual (online) school as part of his curriculum, which includes live lessons conducted through the network...this is where the headset becomes vital.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
My suggestion is to use the output for the headphones jack and use internal microphone for.

  • I added a new post to my iTunes U course and it is not showing up on one of my student's iPads.  She has only one Apple ID on the iPad. Any assistance is appreciated.

A new post to my iTunes U course shows up in my course both on my Mac and my iPad Air, as well as on other students' iPads, but for one single student.  We have closed the app and forced shutdown.  Student recently added more icloud space, but that is all.  iPad is up-to-date in terms of iOS and iTunesU app.  The student has only one Apple ID associated with her iPad.
We have reposted two more times.  The second time the post showed up for a few seconds, but then disappeared.  It does not show up under any other section (assignments, discussions, etc).  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Have you contacted Apple support?
I don't know if these will work, but you could have the student try the following:
logout of his or her iTunes U (i.e., iTunes Store) account using Settings
    force-quit iTunes U
    relaunch iTunes U
sign in to the newly launched app when prompted
    I hope that helps!

  • The 16G IPOD catalog entry should have in bold THIS THING HAS ONLY ONE CAMERA.  I bought one for my dad thinking it was same as the last one i bought.  my fault, but also theirs.

I just ordered a new 16G iPod touch for my dad.  the bigger models said they had an hd camera, so i assumed this one did not BUT AT LEAST HAD A REAR FACING CAMERA.
So it arrives and he says it only has one camera and I say of course it has two cameras.
it turns out just a front-facing camera (so i guess thats what Facetime camera meant).
so now he wants to return it
be careful ordering. my fault, but also theirs.  it's like selling a car without a windshield.  their should be a giant sign that says, this thing has only one windshield

    Disagree for three reasons:
    1) this is a KEY feature that was removed from prior models.  removing something that cutomers depend upon requires more than burying in a cryptic spec.
    2) even spec does not use clear generic terms like "front-facing camera" "rear-facing camera" or "has one camera" - instead it used Apple-terms like Facetime camera and isite camera, which on a casual glance appears like just upgrade/downgrade camera version.  16g model says facetime camera, and cell next to it it says isite camera (instead of also showing both models have facetime camera on the same row) and that's not a proper comparison grid, comparing  apples to apples, so to speak...
    3) you presume every person that orders finds this page (which i contend is not clear).  i don't want to spend an hour learning what apple-jargon translates to "this model has only  one camera"
No reply needed.  Just posting for awareness.  I am guessing there will be more dissatisfaction and returns for this product, so just giving you feedback.

  • Security Filter fails when level has only one member

    Hi.
This is Essbase version 9.3. I have a forecast app\db to allow users enter\modify the forecast of the different products. The Product Dimension has the following hierarchy.
    All Products
    Planner 1
    Supplier A
    Product_A1
    Product_A2Supplier B
    Product_B1
Product is the lowest level, level 0, or Gen 4.
I need to allow the "Planner 1" to write only to his products, where the member is "My Scenario" from Scenario Dimension, and where the UDA's for the month is Forecast. The same planner can't write to the "All Products", "Planner" and "Supplier" levels.
I have created the following filter:
    None: "All Products"
    Read: @IDESCENDANTS("Planner 1")
    Write: @REMOVE(@LIST(@DESCENDANTS("Planner 1")),@LIST(@LEVMBRS ("Planner 1", 1))), "My Scenario",@UDA("Time","FORECAST")
Basically, this is the portion most relevant of the filter: @REMOVE(@LIST(@DESCENDANTS("Planner 1")),@LIST(@LEVMBRS ("Planner 1", 1)))
    where
@LIST(@DESCENDANTS("Planner 1") = List of descendants members from Planner 1, excluding Planner 1. = "FIRST LIST"
@LIST(@LEVMBRS ("Planner 1", 1)) = List of level 1 members from Product Dimension. = "SECOND LIST"
@REMOVE will remove values or members in the "SECOND LIST" from the "FIRST LIST".
This filter works perfectly but it has a little\big exception...
Based on the example, the filter works fine for Supllier A. Meaning that the user can modifiy the forecast for the products under Supplier A (Product_A1 and Product_A2), and the user can't modify the upper levels, "Supplier A", "Planner 1", "All Products". This is GOOD!
Now. For Supplier B, Essbase will allow write back to the Product_B1, OK. But will also allow write back to Supplier B, the upper level.
So. When the supplier has only one product, Essbase presents this exception that allows write to the upper level. This happens everywhere a supplier has only one product. When there are more than one product per supplier, the filter works as expected.
Is there a missing piece in my filter? Is there a different, better approach to accomplish this?
    Thanks.

It's probably an implied share problem. That is, because Supplier B has only one child it is treated as a shared member. You can use the "never share" storage property setting to avoid that problem.

  • Hearing only one audio channel in source window & in timeline

    Hi all,
As most of you I get a lot of footage where the audio is split - left channel for gun-mic\\front-mic and right channel for neck mic.
A lot of times I want to preview only one audio channel in the source window.
I cant find a way to do it.
Also whan I try to hear\monitor only one channel when the clip is in the timeline - its a problem -
the only way I know is by using the fill Left\Fill right effect - it is good when I do the final mix
but sometimes I just want to hear one of the channels.
without the tidius way of adding an effect just to preview something and then deleting it.
I'm sure there a way to do this - right?
    thanks!

Thank you very much for replying
Select the clip in the Project Window and duplicate.
Select duplicated clip > clip > Audio Options > Source Channel Mapping.
Disable one of the channel and hit OK
Place this clip on the timeline and ALT + double click so it will open in the Source Monitor.
This is a very messy and unconfterble way to work - because I need to toggle this every time I want to switch channels to monitor.
Instead of adding the effect fill left/right you can toggle the effect on and off for the whole track in the Audio mixer.
This is a nice solution when I work on the timeline - but it won't help when I go on the source footage.
I think the only way to switch channels for a quick preview in premiere is by buying a Sound card with a channel switcher - or using a mixer...
    so dissapointing...

  • Only One FireWire Jack on MacBook Pro - will daisy chaining work?

So I installed L8 on my MacBook Pro and put all the Content and GarageBand Loops on my external Lacie drive via Firewire. I also plan to record to the external drive via FireWire. However I also connect my Onyx 1640 to my MacBook Pro via Firewire.
I've only one FireWire Jack on my MacBook Pro but need two. Is there a work around for this? Can I just plug my Onyx into the External HD and only the HD to my Mac? (Is this daisy chaining?)

Daisy chaining as you described is possible with firewire (as long as you have a device with two firewire ports, of course!), but too much I/O and you can saturate the firewire bus. (How often this happens in reality, I don't know. Anyone?)
If your MacBook Pro has an express card slot, a solution might be to buy a firewire express card/34. That way, you can have the audio interface on the firewire bus, and the hard drive on the separate express card bus. I also think most of the firewire express cards come with TWO inputs, so you'll even get an extra.

  • Exporting slideshow leaves includes only one audio file, leaves off others

I have a slideshow which is fairly long, and uses several songs from an iTunes playlist. When I play the slideshow in iPhoto, the slideshow works perfectly. However, when I export the slideshow, either by exporting to a Quicktime movie or sending to iDVD, the photos export properly, but only the first audio file from the playlist is included in the slideshow. Therefore, when I play it, either in iDVD or Quicktime, the slideshow has audio until the first song ends, then the slideshow has no audio, and is completely silent.
Is anyone else having this problem, and is there a way around it?
    Brad

    Hi Bradley,
Yes, others are experiencing it and it is a new bug introduced from one of the updates. apple is aware of it and so far no solution has been found.
Only one song exporting with Slideshows
Right now, this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
-From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
-Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
-Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
This worked well and was fast to do too.
-Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow

  • Sending Sequence to Motion - Only One Audio Track Goes

When I send a sequence in FCP over to Motion (using the "Send To" function), the sequence only has one audio channel in Motion even though the original sequence has a stereo pair of tracks. I'm sure I'm missing something easy but sure can't find an answer after digging around here and in other sources.
    Suggestions?

The single audio channel in Motion can act as a Stereo Bus, so the audio clip is probably stereo. Click on it and have a look at Audio Track in the Inspector. If it is a mono track, and i do get this from time to time, i usually export an AIFF from fcp and import that into motion.

  • Only one audio out for a speaker set that requires 3 ??

    Hi,
I just got my splendid MacBook pro today and I put my PC for sale simultaneously.
Switching to Mac was a charm - I'll save the details - but only one thing is still bugging me :
I've got a Logitech Z-640 speaker set. The center speaker is the one to connect to the computer (or audio card whatsoever).
Well, it has three plugs, since it's a surround speaker set.
But, my MacBook only has one (the earphone plug indeed).
So if I plug the "green" plug, everything seems to work.
I unpress the "matrix" button on the center speaker and they all work, including the subwoofer.
On my PC I used to have a small application that would "test" them (make each speaker play one by one, so you could tell that they are all controlled independently and therefore that surround sound is enabled).
I couldn't find anything like that on OSX - is there a feature like that ?
And do you think I'll still be getting surround sound effects even though I could only connect one of the three plugs ?
    Any other suggestions ?
And is there some kind of devide, like a USB one, that would let me connect the three plugs ? Is it worth it ?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWERS !!!

Congratulations on your new mac. It is a great machine.
First of all, the MacBook Pro actually has 2 audio outputs -- they are just collocated. One is the analog headphone jack and the other is a mini toslink digital optical port.
The "green" plug you refer to is just a stereo analog input. The "matrix" feature of your speaker system is just simulating surround sound. If this is OK with you and you don't want or need true surround sound that is just fine.
There is equipment available that can separate and convert the digital optical output signal into discrete analog channels, but this equipment is highly specialized professional gear. You're not going to spend $1000 to hook up a $50 speaker set.
If you want true surround sound, you should upgrade to a speaker system that will accept a digital optical input, normally referred to as toslink or s/pdif.

  • Using sequence as source, but only one audio track avail

So I have created a "raw" sequence containing multiple source clips. The source clips have 4 channels of audio and 1 channel of video. When I create my sequence, I see all of my channels....great.
However, when I load the "raw" sequence into the source monitor...I no longer have access to my 4 channels of audio independently. I simply get one audio source track and the audio is mixed....as it appears in the timeline.
When I create a new "raw" sequence, I select multichannel for the master. I've tried every track type (mono, standard, adaptive)...and still I only get one audio channel when the sequence is loaded into the source monitor.
I watched several tutorials about nesting, but there is little discussion about multiple audio tracks.
    Thanks...

Its kind of the point of using a a nest.  ( a pre comp if you like)
Nothing stops the editor going back to the source of the nest to work on the individual assets.  These will update automatically into the nest.

  • Only one audio canal works

Hello folks, I've had my iPhone 3G for over a year now, but now the first problem has occured. When have my headphones plugged in, there is only sound on the left of them. The same thing happens when I want to listen to music through the speakers. Only one of them work. How can I get back to stereo sound?

The iPhone includes a single external speaker. The opposite grill that appears the same is the microphone.
Do you have access to another set of earbuds to try to determine if the problem is with your earbuds or with the iPhone?
