Laptop issue

The wireless zero configuration service does not start automatically even though it is set up to. is the router overriding this service? I cannot connect to the internet unless I restart the service and change the wireless settings to have windows configure. I have searched everywhere for an answer and updated my network device drivers, updated the router firmware and still have to manually start the wzc every time the laptop is turned on.

The router does not interfere with automatic login of your computer. From the router's point of view, automatic login is no different from any other login.
Windows Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) does not work with all wireless adapters and with all drivers. Generally, you should use either the wireless adapter setup software (from the manufacturer of the wireless adapter), or WZC, to configure your wireless adapter, but not both at the same time.
So to fix your problem, try turning off WZC, and just using your wireless adapter setup software from the manufacturer.
If that fails, turn off the wireless adapter setup software from the manufacturer, and turn on WZC, and see if that works.
If you still have trouble, uninstall all the wireless adapter software, reboot computer, then re-install only the driver (not the other software) from the manufacturer, then try using WZC.

Hp photosmart b109n-z on a mac 10.5.8 having already installed on win7 2nd laptop - issue

Hi, I have a HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z printer. I setup the printer for the wireless network and then the first laptop has windows 7 op system. I installed this in the usual way and it worked fine. However, i tried to install the printer on the 2nd laptop with a Mac 10.5.8 operating system. This can be found using the IP address in system preferences which i got from the other PC. The Printer at first printed a test page but not anything else. I have tried to re-install a few times but with the same result. I have also re-installed the driver and this had no success. Previously we changed the wireless provider and due to the short nature of the change (2 months) we never installed the printer on this. Ever since we changed back to the original wireless provider the issue has been seen. It should be noted that it is the same provider but different id. Any help on this would be great.

First, you will have to re-install the printer just like you did originally. Do not use the CD for software, get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
Now that the printer is installed, on the Mac reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Click on the Default tab, not the IP tab. Look for the printer with Bonjour next to it, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Home Hub 3 - Sony Viao Laptop issue

Hi All
Yester I had my BT homehub 3 installed. I am a new BT customer.
It all works and I am getting super fast broad band on my Ipad, smart tv and HP laptop. So i know that it is work.
My issue - My Sony Vaio with windows 7 connects to the hub but does not get internet access.
when i search for a fault it says DNS error.... it allows me to long onto the router and see the home network but wont let me onto the internet.
If i hard wire the laptop it conntects.
I have tried to connect with BT cd and manually.
Can anyone please help me work this out??

SOLVED... I WAS LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION... Here it is for Sony Viao users W7...
It could be that you Laptop has IPv6 selected. Try disconnecting it by doing the following.
Select Start
In the Start Search field type ncpa.cpl and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
In the new window, right-click on your Wireless Network Connection and select Properties.
In the This connection uses the following items section, remove the tick beside (i.e. disable) Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and then press OK.
Left click on Internet Protocol IPV4, click on properties. Check the options to obtain IP address and DNS server address automatically.

N95 3G/hsdpa connection via laptop issues

Hi folks,
I have a UK (t-mobile) N95 on the web n walk plus tariff (3gig limit) and you can use it on your laptop.
First off I notice an issue with speed, connection speed for a start. The laptop reports 420kbps though I know I can up this to 900 odd kbps by adjusting the settings. However the USB Orange 3G connector that the guys at work use is regularly giving 7.2MBPS speed ? why is the N95's so slow?
Secondly ('NOT' on wifi by the way) but when my N95 is attached to my laptop and I am connected using pc suite to my 3G/HSDPA connection, my n95 behaves oddly.
I 'can' play world of warcraft fine for hours with no issues,I can browse for hours on various sites and download with no issues,however if i try and stream any video my connection drops after a few seconds/ sometimes a few minutes,but will always at some point halt. The only way to sort this is to disconnect via the pc suite software and reconnect,this then reconnects straight away once more fine, and will allow hours of browsing or WOW.If I try and stream again however it will once again last a few seconds or so.
this is the same on most sites that stream you tube google video myspace video etc.
I open cmd and do a 'ping www.bbc.co.uk -t'
to keep an eye on the connection and it always drops when trying to stream.
with t-mobile I seem to be restricted also to firmware V12 which isnt fun also.
Have you guys seen this before at all?

The streaming problem could well be network-related. T-Mobile could be detecting the traffic and not liking it (take a closer look at T-Mobile's T&C).
You're correct in saying that T-Mobile's latest version of the N95's firmware is v12.0.14.

Thanks HP Support For Nothing - Windows 10 Update - Laptop Issues!

I am one of many who has posted on here over the past couple about the issues with laptops shutting down / going into sleep after the Windows 10 update last week. There are now so many threads on the HP Forums I’ve lost count. I’ve tried all the recommended tricks, including updating the BIOS Driver from the HP Website, but nothing works! I’ve also updated all other drivers. I’ve spoken to HP Support who couldn’t care less about the issue and are not working on a fix – they seem to blame Microsoft for the problem and tell me to speak to them! Better still return my laptop back to the shop because it is still under warranty. Thanks HP for being supportive with this problem. BTW being informed that you are now telling people not to update to Windows 10 until Microsoft have ironed out the bugs and created fixes is really not helpful! Perhaps I’ll think again about buying a HP product in the future. Really poor customer service!

One laptop issue and one partition table request.

Title says is all.
I'd like one partition table. I want to install Windows Vista (HomeBasic - HP's OEM) with ArchLinux (dualboot). My hard disk has only 160GBs.
I surely want a partition for my data files.

[Solved] Startx won't work! Laptop issues.

Okay, here is what Ididin as much detail as possible.
Dual boot: Windws XP + Archlinux
the partition is like this
80 GB XP
80 GB arch
*10 GB root
*70 GB /home
Video Card: nVidia Geforce Go 6100
Okay, so after I installed, I decided to and uncomment all available US repositories with HTTP on them, not FTP. Then I did a full system update, and got the latest nvidia drivers. So I run nvidia-xconfig, got a little confused when it didn't work and I noticed /etc/X11/xorg.conf was missing. After a while I realized I forgot to download Xorg, once I ran the command it worked. I downloaded HAL, started it and it worked. Then I ran startx, and it wouldn't work. I went into the IRC channel, and tried showed all the errors I got, after a while I was told I shouldn't be using root under any circumstances and the first thing I should have done is create my user ID, which I did, then made myself a Sudoer. Obviously, the errors still appeared, no matter what I did with Xorg. -.-

Nope I didn't install freetype.
Also, I noticed whenever I try to install nvidia I get an error that says these files already exist, and that there is a: Errors occured. No packages were upgraded. In a list of a bunch of files I can't even really list out at the moment.
Pacman -S nvidia gets me that error, when I tried reinstalling xorg, it worked fine. Even when I deleted the cache, and uninstalled files it had the same issue.
I was told to install the latest version available though (again). since I installed some version I got back in 2008 in December. But I've been too hesitant since I felt I might need one of those extra CDs later. So I figured out how to do it through USB, not sure if I should just yet though.
And sorry, didn't notice that long error the last time I thought it meant it was already installed.
But I did do a full system update at least though.

Running vmware server on laptop issues

Hey Forum.
I'm using my laptop also as Vmware server for beeing able to have a windows machine.
But I have both and wired connection and wireless.
I can get a bridged connection on the wired LAN. But would also wan on the wireless network.
But I cannot get it to work.
I got iwl3945 up and running with great problems. But cannot get it to run.
I've set the wmnet0 bridged to eth0
wnet1 --> Host-only
vmnet3 bridged to wlan0
vmnet8 NAT
But how I do I cannot get the IP from the wireless, no matter what! So how can I fix this ?
Running Kernel 2.6.24.2TP on a IBM X60s.
Is there anything special I need to do to get it rigth - or can someone just explain it to me.

might be off topic but for problems with vmware I moved to virtualbox (from repo) and I forgot about problems
but running vmware I used host only networking - this seems to be easier than bridged

PE 6 to PE 12 desktop to laptop issues

I transferred my PE6 library on my desktop to PE12 on my desktop in January. My desktop computer has died and I recently bought a new laptop and loaded PE12, and have tried without success to load the desktop drive with my photos to my new laptop, I have most of the photos on cds saved through PE6, but when I load a disk, none of the tags are there. Am I back to square 1 with tagging, or is there something else I can try? I'm not sure if I should load the PE12 library to my laptop and try to reconnect the cd photos that way since they were saved to the cds with PE6 or what I should do. Help!

my TOSHIBA SATALLITE R580-12R was working fine with dual boot (pre installed win7 and linux mint) for about 2 weeks. Than, starting from yesterday, laptop was randomly poping out blue screen of death to culminate today, with it's last blue screen. After BS happend, i tried to turn it no, but power led below touchpad was blinking (which has NEVER happend) before, and i have just heard a lot of noise (fan spinning probably) and nothing happening on screen. I have tried gooling similar problem, haven't really luck.

That doesn't appear to be a US model, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. You may want to contact Toshiba in your region. If it's a European model, you could check the Toshiba Europe forums.

Wrt54g wireless laptop issue

I have cable internet access from cox. I have the router on and it works fine either with a cable or with my laptop (the one i originally used to set it up). Unfortunately when I try to use other laptops via wireless, it keeps trying to find a connection and never does. I'm using a WEP encryption 64. I need to know what how to go about this to allow my other laptops to connect wireless to my router. Anybody can help me with this?

hi....i'd suggest that u change a few wireless settings on the router itself....first hardwire the router to any PC....and then access the setup page using http://192.168.1.1 "admin" is the default password....go to the wireless section and ensure u have selected channel 11 as it does not overlap with the others ....and specify an SSID of your choosing....save settings and then go to the advanced wireless settings....here reduce the beacon interval to 50 and reduce the RTS and fragmentation threshold by 40 each....save settings.....also confirm the network key under wireless security....once done , try and connect to the wireless network and see if u are able to do so.

i recently bought i new sony vario e serie laptop. i install arch x64 and i have some problems:
1.- Audio
alsamixer said to me that cannot open mixer. i run alsaconf but nothing happens. with hwdetect, i load all modules, it solved alsamixer, but i only hear a very low sound when i connect my headphones. Of course my user is in the audio group and all alsamixer bars are on top.
2.- Video [SOLVED] (with amdcccle)
catalyst-test with xorg1.8, i probed xf68-video-x but when i change to another terminal, black screen,,, so it runs well but brightness is at maximum, and xbacklight don't work.

OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.6.0 installation on Windows 7 64 bit laptop issue

I have managed to install the suite but during the final stages: 13 of 14 configuration process I got an error with the restarting of the Admin Server. I aborted the installation. Now it took hours to get to this point so I was wondering if there is possibly a way of just restarting the installation at this configuration process stage or Must I uninstall everything and start from scratch?
On checking the Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control I see that there are a number of things missing from the screen:
Everything is up and running, however the Weblogic domain doesn't show the WLS_ related objects. There is no webcenter object. etc. This is obviously due to the fact that the recommended configuration process didn't complete.
The weblogic server works fine, the Administration tool works fine. However, when I try to get the Analytics web page it gives me the following error:
Error 500--Internal Server Error
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
Can somebody please advise me on what I can do to either fix the error or restart the configuration process stage, 13 of 14, of the installation?

HI,
10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error
The above error says Presentation services not running.
Using this command you can check:
Open --> Run--> Cd OBIEE_Home\Instance/Intstace / bin> opmnctl status
Try to stop services and again restart the all services.
stop the all services = opmnctl stop all
Start the services = opmnctl start all
I guess you installation not done completely.
Please refer the below link try to install freshly.
