Laptop just goes off sometimes several times a day. It has always been plugged into the wall.

This problem has been happening in the last several weeks. It has a cooler under it, but will do this even with the cooler on or off. Could the power source plug be getting bad????

Just taking a stab here but do you have IPv6 enabled? Many of us had a problem with our RG rebooting throughout the week when IPv6 was enabled (which is the default setting). Disabling IPv6 has resolved that issue for me and some others. If you are using the NVG-589, you can change this setting by going to Home Network menu, then Configure menu on the router.

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Do NOT use an iPod/iPhone charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know.  If the above test does, in fact, indicate a problem, read this.
    Also, according to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • I am going to japan with an Ipod nano and Iphone 4. Do I need a converter? or does the one the iphone comes with that plugs into the wall enough?

I am going to japan with an Ipod nano and Iphone 4. Do I need a converter? or does the one the iphone comes with that plugs into the wall enough? I know i wont need an adapter because it will fit into the wall outlet, but voltage wise, will i need a converter? Japan runs on 100 V. I am so confused on all of this...

As long as the adapter is 2 pronged, then you should be able to use it without any problems.

  • If my laptop battery dies for good, can I still have my laptop work while plugged into the wall?

It's a Toshiba Satellite laptop, made this year, Windows vista, yadda yadda. Look my point is, if my battery gets wasted to a point where it won't charge anymore, will my computer still work plugged into the wall? I can't afford to get another battery. I can't afford a pack of cigarettes.

  • My iphone wont fully turn off unless plugged into the wall charger! help! it is causing battery drains

my iphone has been experiencing poor battery life. i have restored it twice now, and nothing seems to be helping. i am wondering if the fact taht the phone wont shut down has something to do with this problem. i cant get it to fully turn off unless it is plugged into the wall! help! i have tried restarting it holding down the hold and home button nothing works.

Restore as new, does the problem continue?  If so, take it to Apple for evaluation.

    You do not have insurance.
You do have a one year warranty on workmanship and materials.
Call Apple and set up an appointment to have them look at it.
They should fix it ot replace it for you.

  • Intermittent Uverse Outages Happening Several Times a Week, Sometimes Several Times a Day

Hi. Pretty much every day (but not every single day), and several times a day, our AT&T Uverse service goes out for 60 seconds or so -- everything, including cable, broadband, and telephone is affected. For example, it's happened three times today. This has been happening for about a month or so. When it happens, our computers' browsers bring up an AT&T/Motorola Diagnostics page. Lately, the message has been saying "Warning: DSL Failed to Connect," but in the past, it's been a little different. Can you help?

  • HT1386 When an iPhone is plugged into the wall outlet and is synced with iTunes, does the phone need to be ejected on iTunes like it would be if connected to the computer, or is it just fine to disconnect from the wall?

I am wondering if I need to eject my iPhone from iTunes or if it is fine to unplug the phone without ejecting.

If it's connected to your computer and synced with iTunes you should eject it.  If it's only plugged into a wall outlet and not your computer, just unplug it (since there's nothing to eject it from).

  • After upgrading to firefox 4.0, why does it have to update atleast daily, sometimes several times a day

I cant help but notice the security updates on a daily basis because it stops whatever Im doing to download the update, like I said it happens on some days several times. I click to download & the screen never goes away. It downloads & states in order to install them it must re-start. I do then on most occasions after it comes back up it states its connecting again to the server for additional updates. by then I upset when it wants to download again.

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0.1] and download the installation file to your desktop.<br><br>
#Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
#Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox<br><br>
#Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.<br>
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br><br>
After you complete the installation, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update where necessary.

  • 2500 box shuts off about 4 times per week when i try to sign into the Facebook widget

basically what the title says.. I have the old 2500 boxes (and slow guide navigation issues as well).. but another problem I face is that I use the Facebook widget daily to look at my photo albums.. but about 4 times or so per week, upon clicking the Facebook widget, my box will turn itself off and go through the initial download all over again, which takes about two minutes..  more frustrating is that this resets my Facebook login so I have to log in again, which takes another few minutes..  anyone have this happen to them?

    Hi Anthony_VZ,
Oh I do so very wish that I could provide you with a detailed sequence of navigation that would repeat the box reboot ‘X’ many times out of 100. That would be awesome. Unfortunately that’s not usually my goal as a TV addict. I am usually looking to forget my troubles, not go looking for more. What I can tell you is this: box reboots can happen at any time of day or night. They can be caused by the type of activity I am doing or they can happen when I’m doing nothing at all. They can be generated from your end, my end, or happen seemingly spontaneously. And because no error messages are displayed either before or after, I have no idea what just happened.
As far as the ones that I have been able to reproduce, these happen mostly when I am using the search feature or the On Demand menus. Sometimes they happen while I am scrolling. But the most reproducible are usually when I use the OK button to select a program for its information page. I press OK, the box goes “click”. After the reboot, I remember what program I wanted to see, navigate all the way back to it, press OK and the box goes “click”. At this point I have to be a real meathead or glutton for punishment to go back again. But I have just to see what would happen. And what happened was “click”. I’m not sure I’ve ever gone back more than a third time. Or if I did, it was working by then.
So, was it a certain combination of buttons? Was it some bad code? Was it the gremlins that live inside the mysterious black box? (I hate those little guys. And yes, they do multiply when you get them wet.) I don’t have a clue. It’s irritating. I live with it. Life goes on.
Ideally, you would have a software program installed on the boxes that logs the last ‘X’ many commands given by the user and the last menus or options accessed before a crash. A sort of black box for the black box. Then after a reboot, an error report containing this information would be uploaded to a central server that would in turn have a program to analyze these reports for similarities and notify you when it finds them. Perhaps something you might want to suggest to your developers while they are working on the next generation of devices.
Now, if you want to pay me for my time and effort, I’d be more than happy to troubleshoot and log. I already have a half-dozen issues with STB/DVR malfunctions and limited functionality that I haven’t taken the time to write out and post to the Idea board yet. For starters, you are telling avemaria92 that she can “change an option to remember the last guide setting”. While this is true, the last viewed guide state is forgotten every time the box gets rebooted, and the guide reverts back to “All Channels”. If she is having an issue with her box getting rebooted all the time, telling her that this will fix her issue might not be the best idea, as it will only last till the next reboot. This problem also used to happen to the channel change mode as well. But a recent update made this setting persistent beyond the reboot. Wherever this setting is now saved, you need to put the guide setting right with it so that it remains persistent after a reboot as well.
Thanks for listening, Anthony_VZ. I will try your SET TOP BOX AUTO CORRECTION and let you know if I continue having issues.

  • Does the power cable from my 24" CinemaDisplay have to connected for the display to work.  I just had it repaired and now it seems to have to be plugged into the laptop  I dont remember it being like that before.

Is the power cable from the display required to be plugged into my MBP for my display to work.  Recently had work done on the display (power supply replaced twice, glass replaced twice).  Also since I got it back from repair  my system goes to sleep sleeps even though I have it set not to.  Frustrated

awesome, so you sound like you know what your going on about. im guessing its a Software fault tbh, because its like the phone is dead.. very upsetting..but with it not being the screen if they dont ask me to replace it and to send it off for repair what can i say as to a loan phone, mind a ease a little bit now i will just now wait for tommorrow to see what happens thank you

  • When I plug my iPhone into my computer it doesn't show up at all. Not on the computer or iTunes nor does it charge when plugged into the computer. It charges just fine when it's plugged into the wall .

When I plug my phone into the computer nothing happens. The phone doesn't respond the computer doesn't show anything and ITunes doesn't show anything!

I would not worry too much about the charging aspect of the computer connection for now.  I did notice that the last time I connected my iPhone to my computer the iTunes had changed and the only way I could determine that my iPhone was connected was by noticing a box at the upper right on the computer screen vs. the older graphical interface which showed the connected iPhone in a column on the left of screen.  My iPhone did not turn on and did not charge.  However the iPhone was connected and I could in-fact select Sync from one of the iTunes pull-down menus.  Again, for quite some time I though my iPhone was not triggering the computer at all when I connected it.  I use an iMac.

  • My iphone 4 won't turn on unless it is plugged into the wall. Also, my iphone won't let me turn on the wi-fi. And another problem is that it sometimes says "searching..." but it still works. And I already reseted the network setting and all settings.

    Please help

    Hello there, JP3199.
You've mentioned a few issues in your post so I will try to offer up some recommendations for troubleshooting each. In regards to the issue of not powering on unless plugged in the following Knowledge Base article offers some practical steps to try:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
In regard to being unable to turn on Wi-Fi, if you mean that the button is grayed out, then this article should prove useful:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options. If you can turn Wi-Fi on but are experiencing other issues with Wi-Fi, see how to resolve those Wi-Fi issues.
Lastly, this article should help with troubleshooting cellular network connection on your iOS device:

  • So i have this macbook pro and when i put my phone on the left side of the touch (pad?) my laptop just goes to sleep every time.

When ever I put my Iphone on the left side of the (Pad?) my laptop goes to sleep, sometimes does come back on until I change the position of the phone. Can anyone explain this?

Sleep function in the MBP is triggered by magnets placed in the lid.
There is an advisory from Apple against stacking portable computers to prevent this.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2917
Just keep gadgets that have magnets away from the computer.
    Best.

  • How can I make my computer not turn off (sleep mode, or hybernate)? While plugged into the wall.

I have two dogs, and i am trying to see which one is tearing up my couch while im away by recording via my built in camera and "iMovie". But after a few times trying, I relised that my computer "sleeps" or "hybernates" after only a half an hour. It is plugged in, and i went to System Prefrences > energy saver > then clicked on power adapter and moved both "computer sleep and display sleep" to never. turned off my screen saver. and still having issues with this. Am i missing somthing?
    Tony

Thank you Courcoul, i appericate your help. but if you would have read my whole description, you would have noticed i already tried that. "It is plugged in, and i went to System Prefrences > energy saver > then clicked on power adapter and moved both "computer sleep and display sleep" to never." i also did check the schedule times, and it is off, both wake up times, and sleep times.
