Laptop looks to be deleted

My wife has an IBook. She said that she turned it on this morning, and everything is gone. Itunes, pictures, everything. What would cause this, and how do we recover it?

Ahh! That's nice! Shame about the repercussions though. As long as you can still find the files you need to follow the steps outlined by Apple Here.

p.s. FWIW and with absolutely no disrespect to you or your wife, I've recently submitted a feedback to Apple regarding this issue. I cannot understand why they provide the means to, so simply & unintentionally, devastate one's Mac.

Follow the instructions in this article and then delete the songs from your computer; they will not be deleted from the iPod automatically. You should have or make another copy of the songs before deleting them from the computer, as they can easily be lost if they are only on the iPod.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

How can I look at recently deleted history on my iPod touch 4? Google says to go to settings, go to safari, then go to advanced. Well the problem is my iPods don't say advanced, they say developer. Deleted means deleted. You can't get it back without going really out of your way, and if you want to do that then Apple Support Communities probably doesn't have the experts you're looking for.

Newsfeed tags on a sub-site - keep getting "Looks like somebody deleted this conversation"

I am using Newsfeed with key suppliers and customers tagged. If I click on a tagged customer I get a list of posts that contain the tag. I hover over the post I want, and relevant parts of the conversation appear on the right, including an option
to View Conversation.
However when I click on View Conversation all I get is a message saying "Looks like somebody deleted this conversation". As I only posted the discussion 10 minutes prior and no-one has deleted it, then why can't I view the conversation. It's
still there in my newsfeed - I posted it and I can still see it there - so why does this option not work?

To much music on my laptop. Sync and delete my CD's without losing next time I sync.

I have a new ipod classic, I love it, I have downloaded my personal CD collection on my itunes account and snyced my ipod. All that music is slowing down my laptop. If I delete my music from my laptop is there a way to sync new music without losing the old stuff?

If you do not have access to the iTunes Library on your Old computer... or its Backup...

You free to choose the make of HDD ( and you could install a 750Gb HDD - see maintenance guide below ), but as an example, the drives on the link below would be fine for your notebook.

The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 57 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Once done, simply use your Recovery DVDs to reinstall the Operating System on the new drive.

i got a new laptop. I used to hae a PC and then got a Mac. my old laptop crashed and I had so much music on it. So when I plugged my iphone into my Mac I was able to put my purchased music on my iphone but nothing else. Some how my old laptop worked again so I was able to get my old music on my iphone. But when i went to plug my iphone into my new Mac it said I have to delete all of my old music off my iphone or i will not be able to transfer any of my new music from my mac. My old laptop has broken and at the same time my music has been deleted from my iphone5 (silly mistake by my husband to free more space for newborn photos!). I am not very technologically advanced with this sort of thing - can anyone tell me if it is possible for me to retrieve my itunes somehow? I can use another laptop. My itunes library was made up of a mixture of imported CDs and tunes purchased from itunes store. Just music on there. Any help greatly appreciated.

Depends on exactly what happened to the old laptop, but it may well be possible to extract the drive, put it in an enclosure, then retrieve your iTunes library and other data from it.

The way I have done this in the past is:
1. Connect desktop to the iPhone.
2. Navigate to your iPhone in the left pane
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page under the heading Options
4. Check the box following the option manually manage music and videos.
This will alter your current iCloud Settings*
Let me know if any of this is unclear.

Trash doesn't look empty after delete - looks like there is trash

New to Leopard, empty trash (nothing in folder) but icon still looks full.
Any ideas?

FWIW, in list view the file shows up (for a second, it says alias) then deletes and the trash is empty.
It then reappears in a few minutes which leads me to believe its some sort of system process.

Wondering if something like mainmenu or oynx can fix this.
I also have a TIGER BACKUP IMAGE and a LEOPARD INSTALL IMAGE on an external HD and wondering if I can use CCopy to erase my MBP HD and just use that although I would want to change the root user name. Its things like LOGIC being better in Leopard that I like but things like this (BUGS) that make me leary...
Its too bad I can't access the TIME MACHINE as on the LEOPARD INSTALL bootup (external) I ran time machine for a few days and it backed up the whole computer. Although, I want to get rid of this bug more so seeing how I just bought an iPod (my first) and synched it up. Actually, it was after this process and deleting some songs NOT authorized for this MAC that this problem started to come up.
Help appreciated.
