Laptop microphone G4 pavilion

Does anyone know why my Microphone for a G4 Pavilion stopped working after I was able to get on and use Skype. I get good video but they can't hear me. I downloaded the sudio driver again. All the settings are good on skpye. I try to use sound recorder and still nothing works. I know the laptop does not have a sound card so does anyone have a suggestion. Hp is not very help from what I have read so far. Thanks

try to check the settings in the skype By going into Tool then audio settings
thn select internal microphone
after that try to make a test call and see what happnens ?

No upgradtion of software or no upgradation of BIOS or no upgradation of hardware elements since i bought .

After 2-3 years laptops may need to have the cooling fan and heatsink area cleaned out and have new cooling paste applied on the processor. I just did this on my own laptop which will be 3 years old in September. It is a fairly advanced procedure. We can provide material that will tell you how to do it, but more likely you need to find a local computer shop to perform the task. Expect to pay $50-100.

Internal microphone in Pavilion dv9700 ?

My control panel the sound device states the microphone is not plugged in. Is there an internal mike? If so how to turn on? or do I need an external mike?

I'm running into a similar issue. I have Pavilion dv6000 and I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and my internal mic isn't working either. I have downloaded the most recent driver from Realtek and still no luck. The system shows it is working correctly, however when i test by recording using accessories recorder and skype - i get a message stating the computer cannot hear me. first I heard static when using the mic now after updating driver, no static, but still no mic.
I have been unable to figure out what is wrong. HP doesn't offer support for Windows 7 for my system. Do I really need to downgrade back to Vista to get my mic back?
I've seen there are many others who have the same problem - and i've tried several of the fixes, checked device manager and made sure settings are correct. This worked beautifully before the upgrade now, pc is faster, but mic is out of order.
any assistance for what seems to be a common problem after upgrade would be appreciated.

Disabling laptop microphone and enabling microphone attached to mike jack

Hi, I am using a Satlellite model A505-S69803 model and am having problems with my microphones. I am getting an echo with the laptop and want to disable that and just use my mike attached to the jack. I use Windows 7. I cannot disable the laptop mike without disabling both. Any help would be appreciated.

okay have you checked your device manager whether there's any device error for your MIC?
or open command prompt type this and check the settings of your microphone:

Gx70 Laptop microphone problem

Hey guys, so I just recently brought the GX70 laptop and the inbuilt mic is really quiet, my friends cant here me in Skype or in Teamspeak and I have put it all to the highest setting that I can.
Im not really good with computers or laptops any help would be great thanks
Oh and ps to any League of Legend players with this laptop? What is the average fps in highest settings for you guys cause mine is only 40ish is that normal?

Just a quick update. I was able to get the microphone to work in tolerable levels by installing the latest realtek driver-only setup. Please refer to the image below that shows the download high definition audio codec page of the realtek website. There is a download that says Driver only.

[Solved] Built-in laptop microphone not working

Hey Arch users, ever since I've installed Arch, it has been running beautifully, but I'm clueless as to how to get my mic to work. I got Audacity, ran it, and it wouldn't record sound. I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1525, using Intel cards.

Audacity's set to use "default" on playback and recording, apparently recording being set to card 0, which is the only card, and device 0. I alsa tried to record with arecord, and got nothing. Either the kernel (or something else) isn't recognizing my microphone, or I've got some serious configuration to do. I don't know if it's a usb mic, can't tell, so any help would be something. Also, I'm not sure if I should post this here, but when I run audacity from the terminal, I get

Is it a bug, or just misconfiguration? I haven't touched any of Audacity's config files, so yeah.

Well, it was simply a matter of firing up alsamixer under normal user, and unmuting everything under Capture. Yay!

It could be a DNS issue. Do you have a Skype or any IM account? Have a check of the IP settings.

Another reason could be a system firewall or your router is not connected to the ISP. It means that you are connected to your home network but there is no connection from your ISP. Go to the router settings (type in a web browser http://192.168.1.254 or http://192.168.1.1) and have a look if the router is connected to the ISP (your internet service provider). In case that you have an IM account or Skype run it and see if you can connect to the server (online). If yes, it's definitely a DNS issue.

Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load. Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services. Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
Audio Service
Multimedia Class Scheduler
Windows Audio
Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type', select Automatic and click Apply to save the change. Then click the Start button.

URGENT QUESTION concerning Pavilion DV6 laptop charger

Hey I have a question: I have two HP laptops; one is the Pavilion dv6 and has a charger with the series number PPP009L-E, with input 1.6A and 65W;
The other laptop is the Pavilion dv6-3236NR, with the charger having the series number PPP009D, with input 1.7A and 65W.
My question is, can I use the second charger for the first charger's laptop? My first Pavilion dv6 won't charge at all! Could someone PLEASE help me ASAP and tell me if it's the charger's problem, battery problem, or both, and whether I could use the second charger on the laptop!

Well the error code would certainly indicate that the drive has started to fail, but just in case, you could try wiping the entire Hard Drive first and then reinstalling the Operating System as described below.
Download and install Killdisk on the link below - ( this application will write zeros to the entire drive ).

Download and install ImgBurn on the link below.
http://download.cnet.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html
Go to the Kill Disk application you have installed in All Programs, open the main folder, then select Bootable Disk creators and from that select Bootable DOS CD Creator which will burn the bootable ISO to a blank CD.
During the next process do not worry about any warnings as your Windows 7 installation disc will reformat the HDD.
Insert this CD in to your PC that is unable to load Operating System properly. Shut the notebook down, then start it again to boot from the Killdisk CD and follow the on screen instructions for Kill Disk.
A brief description of the process is here Killdisk.
Use this to wipe the whole of the Hard Drive, highlight (80h) and press f10 ( you will also have to type a confirmation and hit enter ) - ( this will make sure you include all partitions and then start the process - this may take a couple of hours! ).
When the process is complete, remove the Killdisk CD and try installing Windows 7 again.
If it still fails, I think your only option is to replace the HDD.

Laptop hp pavilion g6 2016 tx not charging or booting

My laptop is hp pavilion g6 2016tx ( Intel i 5 with 1GB AMD graphics 4 GB RAM, 500GB HDD 15'' screen ) which is around 2 years old and now out of warranty. I had a strange problem with it. I used it till last Sunday ( 24/08/2014) and after use I properly shut it down and kept in my laptop bag. On Monday evening when I was switching on it was not booting. I plugged in the charger and then noticed that it was not charing and no LED light for charging. I did hard reset ( by pressing the power on button mor than 30 sec by removing battery and charger and then trying to power on) but system not booted nor charging. I checked output voltage of charger and it was OK, battery is also fine.
I took my system to authorised hp service centre on 28/08/2014, and in front of me they tried to switch it on and then told that there can be motherborad problem, and they will diagnose and tell me next day what is the exact problem.
Next day, 29/08/2014 evening they told me that some liquid spill is there on keyboard and NOT A SINGLE KEY is working. I told them that there is no chance of liquid spill as I am the only one using the laptop and until last shut down on Sunday ( 24/08/2014) laptop worked very well and all keys were OK.
Then they told that they tried to boot with a different motherboard and got error screen (blue) while booting, and toldme that I have not shut down my system properly last time and even if they replace motherboard I may have a corrupt OS. They also told that they don't have spare Processor for checking my laptop (intel i 5 CPU) and have to order for new one. I asked them whether processor is faulty, then they said nothing.
I am a graduate in Electronics and Post Graduate in Computer Applications, and for past 20 years working in IT dept of a Bank and have experience in harware trouble shooting as well as on Software.
I told the service center people that I cannot believe that there is any liquid spill on key board and NONE of MY KEYS are working, because until my last use and shutdown on Sunday, system was working fine and no one else touches it other than me. I told them that when you replace motherboard, OS may give blue screen because of HW compatibility, but they are telling me that I did not shut down my system properly.
They are telling all unbelievable nonsense (as telling to a layman who doesn't know anything) to me which cannot be digested by me.
I feel my system can have some shorted component at power supply area on mother board or maximum a faulty mother board. But the service center people are trying to tell that my keyboard, motherborad , cpu as well as graphics card etc..( list can grow since they have not given me quotation as promised on 29/08/2014).
I doubt some foul play by the service center and they are trying to cheat me by removing good components and making me pay more than half of my laptop purchase price ( Rs. 46500/-) .
I have made some markings on my motherborad , battery , HDD and RAM to identify it in case some one changes it. But how will I know if they are removing my good Processor, as well as graphics card or even mother board which may have component failure at power area which is serviceable.( Like MOSFET, Capacitor etc).
How I can get the serial nos of all components of my laptop or identify if someone replaces it.
What could be the booting/charging problem . since my system worked fine until last shutdown.
I request help and suggestions on this, like what to do if the service centre cheats me. Please Help!

Thank you for the reply. I am waiting for the quotation from hp. Sure I will contact hp directly. But the call centre support in these kinds of tech issues are of no use, at least from my experience. I did talk to the head of service dept (at service centre), and he told me that they don't have spare board or processor and have to order to hp once I accept quotation, but I can choose to go for replacement of any faulty components, once they receive the items from hp or I can opt for just walk away from them without service by just paying their service charge of Rs. 850/-. In that case I have to find out some reliable fellow who does chip level service ( if at all possible.)

HP Pavilion G6 (G6-2313AX) automatically stops music when I put the laptop lid down, please help?

My Laptop is a Pavilion G6-2313AX (AMD A10-4600M with 7660G+7670M Dual Graphics) with genuine Windows 8. I use this laptop a lot in the school bus, while going in cars etc to listen to music. Problem is whenever I put my laptop screen down (It is set NOT to go to sleep mode), the track pauses on Windows Media Player, iTunes, any program. Someone please help me on what I should do to prevent this from happening!

I understand that the music pauses when the notebook is closed. When the notebook is closed, this is usually to move it from one place to another. This may be triggering HP ProtectSmart which physically stops the HDD from spinning causing everything to pause until the HDD is stable. Newser systems are more sensitive to protect the HDD and the data on it.
This sounds like it's more in relation to ProtectSmart more so than a power plan. Review this thread as it looks similar to your issue. Disabling HP ProtectSmart is what fixed it for them.

Decided to go ahead and pull the CMOS battery and clear the password which worked fine. When I went into the BIOS, I realized that the first password given me - (generic Phoenix) pkxdirv actually worked because I had pressed F2 and not F10. F2 apparently only brings up the Diagnostics part of the setup, at least on this laptop. Thanks for the help ...

Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your original Audio Driver ( probably IDT ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
