Laptop not able to get the wireless signal from the lightweightAP

Brief idea of the installation.
One WLC 5500 active -> second not yet installed
36 AP active, at the end they will be 45 (9 not installed)
Everything on the configuration look active and the light AP are registred to th
e WLC.
RF Channel definition done by WLC on all AP
Power definition done by WLC on all AP
Detection of rouge AP
But the laptops can't even detect the RF signal.
I try to detect the signal with 2 laptop which they where working in other sites with wireless in place.
We ara using 3 different application or client: Ippass, Odyssey, wiresquark Any of this application detect the signal.
However, on the WLC and on the light AP are up and running. Status up, channel and power automatic definition.
On the log I can see the detection of some Rouge AP around.

Did you enable "Broadcast SSID"?

Does a second airport express extend the wireless signal from the first?

After a long search on his forum and not finding an answer, this is my question:
I have a Time Capsule connected to a Speedtouch router/modem. The Time Capsule has its own network. Because of the distances in my house, I use an Airport Express to extend the wireless range for my MBP. This doesn't seem to be enough to cover the whole distance (app. 35 meter) there is poor or no connection. So, my question is: can I use a second AE to extend the range even further? Will it pick up the signal from the first AE or do all the AE's in use need to connect with the Time Capsule?
The first AE is app. 12 meter from the TC.

The answer is yes and no.
No, if you are using the "extend a wireless network" feature because each AirPort Express communicates directly to the Time Capsule, not to another AirPort Express. It's like the hub and spokes on a wheel. The Time Capsule is the hub and the Express devices are at the ends of the spokes. The devices at the ends of the spokes communicate directly to the hub, not to another spoke.
Yes, if you are using the "WDS" feature because this type of setup allows a "main", "relay", and "remote" device to be configured. But, there is a big penalty with this type of system:
o The network will operate at "g" wireless speeds only
o The bandwidth on the network will drop 50% for each "relay" or "remote" device. So, with two devices, the first cuts half of the bandwidth. The second devices cuts half again. So, you are down to only 25% of the original bandwidth.

Temporarily connecting your AirPort Express to one of the Time Capsule's Etherent LAN <-> ports...as LaPastenagure suggests....is always a good way to setup and configure other network devices.
If you want to configure the Express using wireless, remember that the Express broadcasts a default wireless signal with a name like Apple Network xxxxxx. You must log on to this network first....no password is required....then open AirPort Utility to "see" the AirPort Express.

I've tried going through my new MacBook Pro settings and it the diagnostics check, it says network changes detected, I tell it that it "yes" does connect to a cable modem, it tells me to restart it, after I do it asks if there are any other devices hooked up ( firewall) and when I say no it tells me that it can't fix the problem.
Now I know that I probably have a new IP address because of the cable company switching the boxes but it was working fine with the other box, now there isn't a signal to be had on it!
Please anybody out there that can help!!!??

Sender File Adapter not able to get file via FTP from an external system

Hi,
I have a Sender File Adapter using FTP which polls a server every 10 seconds looking for a file ".xml". The adapter will connect and pick up the waiting file, but sometimes the adapter not able to get file via FTP from an external system. The file is on the server, but despite the polling, the adapter does not pick up it. There is no return error.
The connect mode is Permanently and the transfer mode is Binary.
Can you help me?

does this case appears with a file size higher the others?
Personally, I do not recommend to have a polling under 1min.
10s could be too just, if the file is not small and/or if the file server is far (several kilometers) to where the Adapter Engine is, and/or this file server is beside a firewall. Do not forget also that, with previous points, you could have like a conflict, betwen the 1st polling and the 2nd polling, if in less 10s PI adapter has not enough time: to connect to the FTP server (several Km), find the file (perhaps among 100 other files in the directory), go back to the file to Adapter Engine server (several Km again), convert your file to XML message (with a complex Content Conversion), then check the XML structure, and when all that is done, return back to FTP server (several Km), to archive the source file... Well It's my understanding of a FTP exchange with FILE adapter...
If you really need a 10s polling, that's mean your have a pseudo real time interface. In that case, in my mind file should not be used! but we should use a Web service, JDBC JMS (any exchange without a physical object like a file). For me, it's a non-sens to have a file in that case.

I'm trying to use AirPort Untility to configure the old APExtreme to extend the network, but it won't let me.
"Extend" is only used if the two AirPort Extremes are connecting using wireless only.
"Create" is the correct setting to use since the AirPort Exremes are connecting using Ethernet.
Configure the second AirPort Extreme to create a wireless network using the exact same wireless network name, same security setttings and same wireless password as the "main" AirPort Extreme and make sure that you are choosing the Bridge Mode option for the second AirPort Extreme before clicking Update to save the settings.
When you do this, everything will act like one big wireless network and computers will automatically pick up a signal from the AirPort with the strongest signal based on their location.
This Apple document more details on this....which is called a Roaming Network.

Also, how strong is the wireless signal? If placed in a basement of a residential property, is it likely that the signal would reach two floors above?

Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab located just under the row of icons
Wireless Mode = None
Update to save your new settings
You can reverse the process to turn the wireless back on when you are ready.

It's just not possible to accurately predict wireless performance in advance for any installation. A guess would be that the signal will be very weak, and likely unusable, but you won't know for sure until you try it out in your house.

Not able to get values/send values from RT FIFO

Hi All
I ahve created a custom device (asynchronous) which tries to read values of channels and also write the values of channels.
when I am running my custom device to communicate with PLC , I am not able to see any data transfer between the two.
So for debugging , instead of sending the values coming from the RT FIFO i am sending constant array values to PLC. In this case I am able to get values on PLC side. Which means RT FIFO not giving me channel values to send to PLC.
What could be the reason for such behaviour?
I am running my custom device on windows system only. I dont have RT system.

So it sounds like your output channels for your custom device, but not your input channels, correct? How many input channels did you configure in your host side custom device Initialization VI?
I could probably help you figure it out a bit faster if you posted up some of your code as well!
On a last note, you may want to say PCL and not PLC

Why is the Analog signal from the FPGA is distorted?

I am using the PXI-7831R board with LabView 2010. I'm trying to transmit TDMS files from the computer hard drive via the analog output of the 7831R. I've used the "Basic DMA output - R series" example and replaced the generated signal with a TDMS file. When I tried it on a synthesized pure sine file, it transmitted the positive part of the sine wave (which was a little distorted) but instead of the negative part I saw 0V DC. When I tried to use a "real" TDMS file (that I sampled earlier) the signal came out completely distorted. In both cases I used a graphic output in the host VI and checked that the data coming from the file is ok. Can anyone help me with that?
I would also appreciate some explanations on the "Update Rate" block (I suspect that he's the one causing all my trouble) - how am I supposed to use it and is it mandatory?

It sounds like when you are using the sine wave, you are clipping the data. I am assuming that this is because you are sending it negative values. R-Series cards can not handle fixed point values, so try to offset the signal so that the lowest point of the signal is at 0. See how that works for you. As far as the Update Rate goes that controls the speed of your loop. If you do not set it high enough, the loop will simply run as fast as it can. I hope you find this helpful.

Can the progressive signal from the mini be coverted to interlaced?

Is there any way to make the video output from the Mac mini interlaced, because my HDTV will only accept 1080i?

Yes, the mini for sure can output interlace. I have done this over an S-Video connection. What I am less sure of is whether it can also output interlaced video via DVI or VGA. In theory, there is no reason it shouldn't be able to. In other words, both those standards support interlace.
Programs like DisplayConfigX and SwitchRes X give you access to an interlace setting, but I have not ever had any need to try to use it over a DVI connection, so I can't tell you if it will perform the desired trick or not if that bit is set.

Not able to estabish connection with SQLServer2005 from the Topology Manage

I have installed Oracle Data Integrator 10.1.3.4.0 and and Microsoft Sqlserver 2005 Management Studio Express in my windows system and created repository in Oracle Database 11g. I have also downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver Version 1.0 and placed the jar file in the <odi_home>/drivers Folder.
I have to do a migration POC from Oracle DB 8i to Sqlserver(2005 express Edition) using ODI. In the Topology manager ,in the Physical Architecture
I give the connections details : UserName :sa Password:sa that is the user of Sqlserver.
Now in the JDBC Properties i give under jdbc Driver
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
and jdbc URL
jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.177.62.148:1084
The jdbc driver is not listed in the dropdown. I hardcode with com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver which i found in ODI discussion forum.
But I am getting the error ava.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver
at java.sql.DriverManager.getDriver(Unknown Source)
Can anybody point me where I would be going wrong or is there any extra configuration I have to do.

I have followed whatever you all have suggested. But could not succeed. Then I decided to use SQLServer 2000 express edition. Installed this in SQL authentication mode and I am able to connect from the management studio with the user sa and also from the command prompt. But again from ODI in the Topology manager I am facing the same problem.
Now I select the default driver for sqlserver 2000 ie driver:com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
and URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.177.62.148:1433
or jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.177.62.148:1433;SelectMethod=cursor

HP DV6500 Laptop - Not able to get sound working properly.

I had this running arch fine about a year ago, I just recently reinstalled Arch and everything is good except for the sound card, which is giving me fits. What I would be used to seeing in say, amixer, would be PCM, Front Center etc etc, now it only shows PC Speaker, BAseFRQ, and Master. Initially it would play sounds but made an -awful- screeching sound, after some tweaking and trying to follow some things on the wiki it just makes the screeching sound now and doesn't ever play the sound.
Running alsaconf does come up with hda-intel, Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller, which sounds right, but it just doesn't seem to work properly.
Rather than flood the initial post with what may or may not be entirely useless information, if anyone can give me some commands to run to get any information that would help I'd appreciate it.

Actually, that bit of information is the most important, remember you will help the Chakra project, and help yourself asking in their forums, they might just get the click on what is going on, or if this is a known issue. Even though we support community projects to be created, is not that easy to give support to users of community projects, as they might have introduced a change that makes it all behave differently.
My only advice would be to put "!snd_pcsp" (without quotes) in the MODULES array of /etc/rc.conf
