Laptop not turning on

Hi I have a HP Pavillion DV6- 3110SA . The issue I am having is that when I turn the laptop on the power button lights up however the screen remains black, nothing turns on the screen, however when I plug in the charger it responds and turns orange to show its charging. It makes the noise of turning on but does not show anything on the screen. Please can you advise how to solve this. I have lots of saved work on it which I need.

Hi,
Do a hard reset:
http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01684768
Remove the battery , but connect the AC adapter to power supply and power on. Check if it is working. What is the color of LED in power connector now?
Please connect the notebook to an external monitor and power on, see if it glows up.

  • Laptop not turning on at all! Charger adapter is working fine....what's wrong?

    PLEASE HELP!
My HP Envy 17 laptop is not turning on at all. It's been 1 month since this problem and within that month I've tried doing the following:
I checked the AC adapter by plugging it on my PC (HP brand) and my adapter seems to be working well.
I have tried the hard reset (hold power and beats buttons for 8 to 10 seconds) MULTIPLE TIMES and still not working.
When I plug the AC adapter and attempt to switch the laptop back on, there is no wifi light, no power light, no light to indicate the device is charging. There is also no fan sound (or whatever it is I've seen some people say they hear when they try to reset). There is absolutely no sign of life! And I'm worried.
I have not attempted to remove the non-removable battery as I hear it voids the warrant. (although seeing as I bought it on ebay brand new, I don't think it came with a warranty...not sure).
What are my options? and what could possibly be causing this problem?
    PLEASE HELP!!

    Hi Jemini3,
I'll be honest I am not sure how easy a fix that is. In the Maintenance and Service guide on page 73 it will show you how to remove the power connecter. However, you do have to remove the battery, subwoofer, hard drive and top cover. All the directions are included on how to do that, so if you are up for DIY project all the information is there. The part number for the piece is 665907-001.
You can always try a local technician or can call HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or visit this link if you are outside North America, there would be a charge as it sounds as if you are out of warranty.

  • Laptop not turning on at all. PLEASE HELP

Hello, last night i was on my laptop and it was working fine. I turned it off then in the morning i noticed the the hp logo on the back was on but the computer was off so I disconnected the battery then reconnected it and pressed the power button then nothing happened. When i tried to hard reset it without the battery I noticed that when I plugged in the power cord into the computer i noticed the charging light flashed then turned off but when I unplugged it the charging light glowed then died (when i did this with the battery in no lights turned on). When every I try to turn it on with or without the battery nothing happened; no lights, no sounds, no nothing.
Please help. Thank you in advance.

Did you try a different charger to see if it isn't a charger problem?

Let me know if it allows you in the BIOS.
If not it could be the Motherboard giving you the issue.
    Also, try restoring the BIOS.

  • Brand new laptop not turning on.

Just bought it. Took it out of the box and plastic all of 5 minutes ago, plugged it in and it doesn't turn on.
    No charge light, nothing.
    Very annoyed.

First off, verify that the AC outlet you plugged it into is working by plugging somethine else into it that is known to work.
Unplug it, take the battery out, then hold the power button down for 30 seconds.  Now replace the battery, plug it back in, and see if it powers up.  If it doesn't let it sit on the charger for about 30 minutes or so and try again. If that doesn't work, repeat the process but this time only try it on battery power.
If it still doesn't power up I suggest you return it to place of purchase and exchange if for one that works.

  • HP LAPTOPS NOT TURNING ON OR BLACK SCREEN. FIX ENCLOSED

I placed this post in another thread, but it sounds like you have a damaged GPU.
I had this problem, but I have fixed it now. Fix below.
I have FIXED my misbehaving PC, and it is running better than ever!
I had the common problem that the GPU had overheated and had become unsoldered from the motherboard.
Here is how to fix it without spending hundreds of pounds/dollars!
    Equipment/skills required...
    *Small flat head electrical screwdriver
*Small Heat gun or jet lighter
*basic assembly knowledge of your laptop.
    *know what a GPU is.
Firstly, strip the pc down to it's basic components, IE. screen, keyboard...
remove the motherboard and unscrew the heatsink from the board, leavint the CPU and GPU
    exposed.
Remove the CPU from it's mount to prevent damage to it in the next step.
Surround  the GPU with kitchen foil, making sure not to cover it. (the foil dissipates heat and protects
    the surrounding components)
now use a chef's style heat gun or jet lighter to heat up the GPU evenly, moving the flame in small circles, heating it up evenly. Spend about five minutes on this. (there is a covering of wax on the processor, don't worry about that...)
Remove the foil, but DO NOT throw it away! Fold a part of it up so it is approximately the same length and width as the chip on the GPU, but a little thicker. Put this folded foil onto the GPU to hold it there firmly when you put the heatsink back on. Place the heat sink and fan assembly back on the motherboard. If you cannot feel or see a pressure over the graphics processor unit, make the foil block a little thicker. make sure the foil is not touching any of the little capacitors or solder balls on the GPU. (you want to get lots of pressure with the foil. This will stop the graphics processor from coming loose again.
Put the entire pc back together and try it.
    It worked well for me!
Here's a link to the entire thread.

Have you tested your hard drive? Enter BIOS setup by tapping/holding the F10 key immediately after powering on the laptop.Use Diagnostics to test your hdd.
If you don't have Diagnostics in BIOS-try tapping Esc key immediately after powering on. From the menu that appears (hopefully) tap  F2 System Diagnostics.

  • Compaq 615 Laptop not turning on

    I have a compaq 615.
Yesterday, I noticed the little white LED on the charging port wont come on.Laptop wont even come on, everytime I pressed the power button, the usual white light which has now turned light blue/green comes on for a few seconds and goes off without powering the laptop.
When I plug the charger, the little LED displays light blue/green instead of the usual white light that denotes that its charging properly. the light blue/green light comes on for a few seconds and also the LED on the LAN port blinks red about 10times.
I have tried sitting the memory modules properly, still laptop wont come on.
What could be the problem please?

  • Laptop not turning on at all

    Hey everyone,
    Laptop : HP Pavillion g6
    OS installed : Windows 7, Deepin 2014
    Last Shutdown : Aug 17, 2014 , 05:00 AM
Last State of system: Was Running smoothly Deepin 2014.
It was only when I realized that my system was feeling overheated somehow and its fan wasn't seem to be running at full speed. I thought the problem of dust jamming the fan causing overheat. So, I opened it, following the Disassembly advised by HP  in manual[Online]. I did everything as per manual, cleaned the fan and other HW as well. It was when I assembled it and Powered it, I found that Power LED lit but no display at screen. I checked any loose connection for display and others, tried again but in vain.
Third time, I witnessed Caps lock blinking three times and pause and again so. I checked HP portal for the same and found that the problem could be with the RAM Module. So, I tested the RAM[4gb stick] into my other laptop and it worked fine. I then plugged it into my HP system, but nothing happened. I used my other system RAM as well but in no success.
However, I did noticed that the whole base[laptop base from inside facing upward] and every HW having metal part was receving the current from the power cord. I found that the internal socket[HW] that receives power from Adapter[Plugged into system] was in contact with metal part of laptop base and so, whole laptop was having the current. I separated the HW socket from base[remain plugged to Motherboard] and gor rid of current in whole laptop. But this time, I found no LED[orange or white of connected power chord] state and my system wasn't starting at all, let alone understand the previous CAPS Lock Blinks. I tried with battery only as well but nothing pleasant came out. I also  unplugged any power souce and holded out power button for a while.
FInally, I wonder whether the motherboard is now at fault, but if this is the case then why CAPS Lock three blinks?
One more thing, I wasn't wearing anything in my legs[shoe or something] but I made sure that I don't end up touching the ground while handling the HW. May be occasionally it happened. Could it be in relation with fault.
If Motherboard is faulty now, how do I check which part is at fault and what will be the cost to get it replaced in India.
    RAM,HDD are perfectly fine.

Most likely you damaged motherboard , and another one will be 2x  amount of laptops price.

You can try to create a new Boolean pref with the name network.manage-offline-status and set the value to false.

My iPod does not turn on and it is not recognized by my laptop in iTunes... What can I do?
Model iPod 2 Touch, 8G, It stoped working less than a month after it was purchased but I never sent it back for repairs or warranty to Apple.. Is there still a way to repair it on my own. It just simply does not turn on or charge and it is not recognized by iTunes when I plug it in to my MacBook Pro.
    Please advise...

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The appointment is free.
