Laptop randomly (as far a I can tell) shutsdown when on battery.
So my laptop has been just randomly (as far as i can tell) shuting down, and i mean shutting down like someone yanked a PCs cord out of the wall shutdown. But only when running on battery and i get no warnings or anything just working away and then bang shutdown. and it acts like the battery is dead and won't let me power on until i plug it in for a while. but even when it has a full charge this still happens . I have runs scan after scan and because it is one of those ones that i can't open to fix myself i can't check to see if my dog dammaged it when she pulled in off the desk and onto the couch.
I am having the same issue with my iPhone 4. I can hear everyone but they can't hear me. Visited Apple Store and they said speakers were out, both bottom mic and top one for speaker phone. Said they were busted. Reloaded all software and didn't work. Got in parking lot and worked for 1 call. Now it's out again. Wanted $150 for new phone, haven't done it yet. don't know what to do.

You have the Mid 2010 15-inch MacBook Pro and the GPU is damaged. If you have a look at the log, you will see "GPU Panic", which indicates a GPU problem, and all graphic extensions under "Kernel Extensions in Backtrace", the ones that crashed.
Mid 2010 15-inch MacBooks Pro have got a defective NVIDIA GPU which may cause unexpected restarts, black screens, kernel panics... See > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
Apple is repairing all these MacBooks Pro for free if they were purchased less than 3 years ago, so make a backup of your files with Time Machine, and take it to an Apple Store or reseller. Print your log and show it to them if they refuse to repair the MacBook -

Updated to iTunes 11.1 and many of my podcasts were, as far as I can tell, deleted from my account. 'This American Life' in particular, cannot be redownloaded for free and I want the unlistened podcasts I accrued to come back! I'm also afraid that if I sync my iPod now, the podcasts that I have on there but have been removed from the computer, will also be removed from the iPod.
Any tips or suggestions? What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization. With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options. If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast. I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why? How is this making it a better program? I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was). But to not give users the option to delete that list? It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating. I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature. It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway? There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions. Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution. I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS. -
Is there any way to change the color of the Firefox 4 menu button away from orange? It attracts my attention and as far as I can tell personas change everything but the menu button color.
You can change it with the App Button Color extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/app-button-color

I'm trying to install Microsoft Office for Mac 2011. Halfway through the installation, the MacBook Air tells me that I must close Safari for the installation to continue. As far as I can tell, Safari IS closed. I can't discover any process that will close it any more than it is now. Installer won't let me shut down or re-start the computer because it (Installer) is still running.
What am I missing? The MS installer seems to think Safari is active so try the following...
Right-click on the Safari icon in the Dock and if applicable, select Quit.
or
Try Utilities > Activity Monitor and look for Safari in the Process Name column. If present, highlight Safari and then click the Quit Process icon. -
Please if you can tell me, when the iphone 5 will be available in Croatia?
Please if you can tell me when will the iphone 5 be available in Croatia? Please if someone can answer on my question! Thx!
Hi,
iPhone has come to Croatia as You know it but there are limited so it would be good to reserve the iPhone which You wish to buy because i had this kind of problem:
-I have reserved my iPhone 5 64GB as soon as the T-mobile let the commercials for that and i had to wait for a month almost to get my iPhone-and almost lost it because the carrier calls you just one time and if you don't pick up your phone, they will sell it to anyone who come into store! So, if they call you that your iPhone has comed-hurry as much as you can! -
HT5922 As far as I can tell, this article is not correct, for a MacBook Pro.
As far as I've been able to discover, on a MacBook Pro, iTunes will not send audio from a movie/video to an Airplay device. (I can do it with my iPad, but not with the MacBook). Or is there some way to get it to work?
Yes, I've gone through the troubleshooting and nothing works.
I have no problem sending music to the Airplay device, but when I play a movie, there is no option to send the audio to an airplay device (the Airplay icon disappears). There are many web pages that say this is not just me, but is the way the MacBook iTunes works (or fails to).
Strange that this got posted to the windows forum. I only commented on the article. There's nothing in the article that says it is specific to Windows. -
I upgraded to Lion last month AFTER wiping the hard drive for the second time on my 2011 macbook pro. I am now suspecting that transferring my photos (I have over 8,000 saved on sd cards) to my computer is bringing all this trouble.
I was able to rectify some problems by dragging import file from library to desktop etc... But I am worried that these Copied Libraries and recovered photo files and AlbumData.xml file are a sign of something darker loomng ahead...Sorry but we have no idea what's going on, or gone on, on your machine. Neither can we see it. We only have your somewhat sketchy post. You mention that you can rectify "some problems", you mention "all this trouble" but neglect to mention what these problems and trouble actually are. So, I'm afraid it's hard to respond to your post in a meaningful way.
A couple of thoughts: 8,000 photos is not a problem. iPhoto is good for 250,000 in any one library. So, unless you have very limited HD disk space, this is not the source of whatever issues you are having.
If you're dragging parts of the iPhoto Library around the place, yes there could be trouble ahead. Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
There are two ways to get a copied library: one is to duplicate the Library yourself (either accidentally or deliberately) or while restoring from back up.

Clean install of Firefox on clean install of Win7 x86. Previous bookmarks lost due to hdd crash. Trying to configure Firefox 4 like my previous Firefox 3 and finding it difficult. This was my favorite feature of the previous Firefox and I'm dismayed that it's either gone or well-hidden.
Some menu entries are hidden by default and only show up if you use the keyboard to open the menu. Bookmark All Tabs is one of them and you see that entry if you use Alt + B to open the Bookmarks menu. You can see the same if you use Alt + F to open the File menu instead of pressing Alt and click the menu entry.

I receive email messages without problems. The typed words are fine. No pictures will display. I receive pictures and video in my browser. Only my email is a problem.
Here is another suggestion.
If you can never see remote images because the "Show Remote Images" button is always missing check that permissions.default.image is set to 1 using the config editor. It was here that I saw it:

This has worked for another person. It seems a bit involved but take your time and do what it says. -

need help updating the firefox 4. have tried to download. Each time we think we have done it but then the next time we og on, we get the ame prompt asking us to upgrade to Firefox 4. need help
First, you might want to make a backup of your Firefox, just in case. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, download directly from this page:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
After downloading, view the Downloads Manager (if it doesn't open automatically, press Ctrl+j or use Tools > Downloads). Right-click the latest entry and choose Open Containing Folder. When that opens, double-click the installer file to install Firefox 4.
Does that work? -
I've had this Imac for a year and have had no problems until the mouse and trackpad both stopped scrolling a few weeks ago. I'm guessing it is some setting that is causing this since both are not working but I'm about to toss this out the window cause Apple makes it nearly impossible to use the software without the ability to scroll and swipe. I have checked the obvious settings. Please Help!!
how do you try to scroll ?
some people are used to trackpads scrolling when they move their finger out in the right side or the likes
with newer macs one scroll by placing 2 fingers beside eachother and moving them up and down -
Thanks.
Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing. The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as). The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue). However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens. It will not change to highlight that user.
