Laptop rebooted after virus

My laptop needed rebooting after it got infected and i lost everything. I have loaded itunes 8 and want my ipod nano to be syncd with the laptop but it is still linked to the laptop as was before it crashed HELP.

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

You are talking about the menu bar of Itunes, right?
Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.
where exactly is the Store/synck you iphone option?
After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone.

Attempted to re-install the original Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro from the disk provided with the purchase; and it has put me in a trial; and is requesting that I purchase the software I already paid for, two years ago.

You can try a repair (may need to go to Control Panel>Programs & Features). A reinstall is a last resort, but if you go there be sure to uninstall from the control panel, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, and remove any part left of the Acrobat folder. Then reboot as the administrator and reinstall. Be sure to disable antivirus during the install.

  • My laptop has a virus, how can i get rid of it?

My laptop has a virus on it and its called AntiVirus 360. I looked up on google what it is and its a virus that disguises itself as a program to help detect viruses when itself is the virus. I've tried many different programs to try and delete it off my computer but nothing seems to work. I also read that sometimes this virus can appear to have been deleted but then when you reboot the computer it re-installs itself. How can I get rid of it completely and permenantly? I have a friend that works at Best Buy and he said you guys could repair it but it costs about $200. I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that you know of. Please help because it keeps messing with my internet pages and is making my computer slower than it should be.
    Thank you for your time!

Stuff like that is better known as "spyware/malware" - There are categories of malware not consider viruses (although often they are installed by a virus as a larger payload).
I would suggest trying Malwarebytes.  If Malwarebytes can't fix it, your best bet is probably to nuke and repave.  (i.e. backup your data files and then reinstall Windows and all applications from scratch.)

  • IPod rebooting after 1.2...

I updated my iPod from 1.1 to 1.2 last sunday... It seemed to work fine, but today, after skiping a few songs on "shouffle songs", it rebooted after finishing some songs (Tool - Schisim and Garbage - Cherry Lips)...
It still works, but it's anoying to wait until it rebbots to start listening songs again...

My shut down problem is a bit more complicated. I purchased Old Time Radio (OTR) shows in MP3 format from various dealers. I can transfer these OTR shows to my 5th Gen iPod from every dealer successfully...except files from one specific dealer! Files from this one particular dealer, when transferred and played, forces my iPod to shut down. More specifically, as soon as I click on the file to begin playing it, the device immediately shuts down and resets itself! Even more strange, is that, when my iPod is plugged in to my laptop, I can play the file (the one stored on my device) from iTunes successfully!! Weird. And yes, I am running iTunes 7.0! Other OTR shows, videos and songs (converted to MP3 and transferred to my iPod) play fine. This is a very unique and unusual puzzle I cannot seem to solve. I get the strange feeling from reading these posts that the problem is iTunes Version 7.0 is very buggy! Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!

  • Fresh Win7, freeze while rebooting after video driver installation

Yesterday when I opened my laptop it froze while booting when the Win7 logo appears. Rebooted in safemode, all was good, didn't know what to look for exactly.
Today, I decided it was time for a new Win7 reinstall so I did it. Also, did a complete format of my SSD where I keep only my OS.
While it was rebooting after installing the AMD video driver it froze again, in the same spot. Restarted the laptop, chose last known good config and noticed in device manager that one of the video cards had error 43 (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43))
I tried to install the driver for Intel then, but I got an error saying my laptop does not have the minimum requierments (even for older versions of the driver)
I tried every possible combination of installing, uninstalling, enabling, disabling one of the cards.
When I install the AMD driver, the Intel driver installs itself too.
When I leave AMD graphics  enabled, it freezez at Win7 logo while booting,
When I disable AMD and leave just Intel enabled, then it boots normally, but right after the reboot, device manager shows them both with yellow triangle and "!" with error "This device cannot work properly until you restart your computer. (Code 14)", and of course, if I reboot then it freezes again.
I have already spent 10h on this and couldn't find a way to fix it.

    Hi
Using Advanced boot options  ( F8 at start up )  go into Safe Mode with Command prompt , Once Safe mode loads with command prompt type      rstrui.exe           hit Enter   ....        This will take you into  System Restore ...  Follow the onscreen instructions to Restore your system to the time  before the AMD driver was installed .    You can choose from multiple restore points  if they have been created by you or your system .

  • My laptop has a virus

My macbook air laptop has several pop ups that occur whenever I use the internet. Anytime I click on something it will bring me to a screen claiming I have won something or it says something along the lines of "we detect that you laptop has a virus, click here to clean your laptop." I can not listen to pandora any more because there is several pop up and adds all over the page. Sometimes those adds even have videos that play while I am trying to listen to my music. Please help me get rid of this virus.

Oh by the way, if your computer should be contaminated by an item known as
Downlite aka V-Search, that may prevent your browser from accessing content
from TheSafeMac site, there are other links to get the information. This is to say,
the makers of such malware are hard pressed to keep this junkware from being
expelled from your computer with this knowledge they're willing to mess up
other web sites where the cures may be obtained.
If you could not access the remedies from site linked web pages noted above
or get the recognition files from Adware, read this quote from Thomas R. the
author of TheSafeMac and Adware Medic sites... (excerpt)
"You should know that the Downlite (aka VSearch) adware is currently doing its best to block Adware
Medic site. If you try to load the main page with Downlite installed on your machine, you'll see:
{if image fails to appear, it says: Safari can't find the Server,
    can't open page/find server at adwaremedic.com/index, etc}
Direct download links posted on other sites still work:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/AdwareMedic.dmg
Folks can also either download it on another machine or start up their computer in safe mode to down
load it. Or, of course, they can follow either Linc's manual Downlite removal instructions or my own:
    http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-downlite/
Also, just to clarify - the site itself is not affected, it's just machines that are already infected
with Downlite aka V-Search that have these behaviors added in their browsers..." - Thomas R.
Recently, when I looked into these sites, there was no trouble accessing anything; but if I had one
of these Downlite or V-Search malware items installed, then I'd likely been unable to access the
SafeMac site or get content from Adware Medic site. If you are able to go to either or both, note
the has been effort to block content by the bad guys and other efforts to keep good content on
line and available (for free) to remove the adware and malware content from several sources.
[Some issues with access have been addressed with the above situation.
The cures are available in the methods and means as cited in resource.]
Since you did not get back to say if you tried anything, or what, I found this info later from yesterday
and thought to add it; since if you found this symptom after attempting to go there, or get the Adware
Medic part to help identify issues (a safe file) this would help let you know about Downlite or VSearch.
Hopefully you have managed to read through and identify the issue with information given in
theSafeMac tech guides; malware, adware, and maintenance. Also adware medic.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • IPhone 6Plus on every reboot after putting in my password it opens to a small window asking for apple id password

everything works on phone and wow it's big compared to my iPhone 5s. went with space grey since i have had 3 white phones in a row. restored via iCloud backup. updated iTunes as i have about 3,000 songs. 250 bought the rest ripped to AAC from my cc's....what a pain but switched from my windows desktop to this new rMBP late 2013 for xmas and iTunes is slightly different on a mac than windows and where everything is stored on drive.
anyhow problem is every time i reboot after putting in my password and arriving at whatever page i left at i get a very small window asking for my Apple id password. Now the top half is pre filled in with the email address i use for iCloud/itunes/apple/etc.
i did see in settings there is a checkmark i cannot remove that says for apple password "ask immediately" there are no other choices. it can't be unchecked by any method i found.
    any help appreciated.

In case anyone else gets this I hit cancel once and it has never come back.

  • Fix for continuous reboot after installing Service Pack 3 in Windows XP

After contacting HP Technical Support and speaking to a supervisor we were able to solve the problem of Windows continuously rebooting after installing SP3. Here are the steps that fixed the problem with my HP Pavilion running on an AMD processor. The steps are actually fairly straight forward and easy....
Issue: The computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3
Computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3 on AMD systems. The problem is that with some configurations, SP3 causes the computer to crash during boot, and Windows XP, by default, is set up to automatically reboot when it crashes. That is why you end up in the endless rebooting scenario.
    Cause:
On HP computers, the same Windows installation disc image for Intel processor based PC's is deployed for the AMD processor based computers as well. Because the original installation image for both Intel and AMD is the same, all have the intelppm.sys driver installed and running. That driver provides power management on Intel-based computers. On an AMD-based computer, amdk8.sys provides the same functionality for power management.
    Symptoms:
Ordinarily, having intelppm.sys running on an AMD-based computer appears to cause no problems. However, on the first reboot after a Service Pack 3 installation, it causes a big problem. The computer either fails to boot, or crashes with a STOP error code of 0x0000007e.
You may not see the error code because the computer reboots too fast. In order to get the error message, you need to set an option during startup. To do so, open the windows advanced menu by tapping the f8 key on startup. Then select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option.
    Solution:
If you have an AMD-based computer, however, you do not need the intelppm.sys driver and can disable it. There are three methods in order to do this.
Step 1: Please try to log on the system in safe mode.
    1. While using Safe mode open the command prompt....  Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt
Run the following command in the command prompt just like it's typed: sc config intelppm start= disabled
    Step 2:
If the issue persists, please try to log on or boot the system in recovery console (refer to the web document)
    2. Using recovery console:
If you booted into the recovery console, from a command prompt, type: disable intelppm
Step 3: Please check in registry.
    3. Using windows registry:
    1. Run regedit
    2. Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    3. From the File menu, select "Load hive"
    4. Navigate to %systemdriver%\Windows\System32\Config on the dead system and select the file name System
    5. Name it something you can remember, such as "horked"
    6. Navigate to horked\ControlSet001\Services\IntelPPM
    7. Double click the Start value and set it to 4
    8. If you did what I did and completely messed things up by running a disk check previously, navigate to ControlSet001\Control\SessionManager. Open the BootExecute value and clear out the autochk entries.
    9. Repeat steps 6-8 for the other control sets.
    10. Reboot

For future reference: Service pack 3 Installation steps:
Before installing the service pack 3 update, please follow the steps listed above and save yourself much time and effort.
To uninstall service pack 3, I suggest that you uninstall it from add/remove programs.
    Step 1:
Uninstall service pack 3 from add/remove programs:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Select Run.
    3. Type appwiz.cpl in the run field.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click change or remove programs.
    6. Select the program -service pack 3 that you want to uninstall or remove.
    7. Click Remove button.
    8. It will pop up the message stating that "Are you sure you want to remove the programs".
    9. Click Yes. It will help you to remove or uninstall the installed programs from add and remove programs.
Step 2: If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform system restore and then try to install the service pack 3 after performing the steps mentioned above in regards to removing the intelppm.sys Driver.

  • Slow reboot after 10.2.1.2977 update to Z10

    Hello,
The first reboot after updating to software release 10.2.1.2977 (OS 10.2.1.3247) is taking a very long time (just over 22 hours now). The boot screen showed 97% before I went to sleep last night, and has been at 98% since I woke up ~6hrs ago..
I'm a fairly new BB owner, and this is the first OS update I've done besides the one after I first got my z10 - but I'm assuming this isn't normal. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any idea what's going on, or have suggestions on what I should do?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Pat

No, it most definitely does NOT take anyway near that long to reboot; you should expect to wait about one minute usually (except immediately after an OS reload in which case a few minutes is normal).
If it's not completely rebooted yet, remove the battery for a few seconds then put it back in. If it's completely rebooted, you can either leave it for now or you can reset your phone. To do this, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds until BlackBerry appears on the screen. Don't release the power button until you see BlackBerry, ignoring anything that appears before that.
    I hope that helps you.
