I have recently upgraded my iMac Intel G5 iSight (iMac5,1) to OS 10.6.8 and now the internal mic does not work with skype or facebook. I can here static when playing back clips. Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?

The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.

  • After upgrading to Lion internal mic does not work with Facetime

After upgrading to Lion internal mic does not work with Facetime.  The mic is picking up sound as noted in System Prefs.  This was working just fine before the updgrade.  Facetime works OK on my iPod.

  • The T61 internal mic does not work when docked

The internal mic does not work when docked. However works fine when undocked.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I go this issue very recently. What I did to solve the problem was probably mentioned before somwehre over the web.
First of all, I degraded Skype from the latest version to skype 6.1.0.129. Then I went in Skype - Tools - Option - Advanced Settings - Automatic Updates and click "Turn off automatic updates" and Save. I closed (Quit Skype) Skype then.
I clicked on Start (in toolbar) and in search area typed Device Meneger. Then in Sound Video and game controlers, highlite and right click on mouse on IDT High Definition Audio Codec and press Unistall. This will unistall IDT drivers from the system. You must restart your computer.
Once you come back after reboot, you must go again to the Sound Video and game controlers and remove the rest part of your driver. After reboot go Sound Video and game controlers and click "Scan for hardware changes" then system find your IDT Sound Card again. Please install the latest driver (6.10.6367.0) and reboot. After reboot you should have mic working while on Skype.

  • CIT200 Internal mic does not work??

I am using the CIT200 under WIndows 7. It connects fine to Skype and drivers are installed OK. When I call, the internal mic does not work (phone's internal speaker is fine), but when I plug in a headset, the headset mic (and speaker) works just fine. Does this mean the internal mic is physically damaged, or is there anything I can do software vise to get it to work?

Hmmm, well never tried to make the CIT200 software on a Virtual PC, but you can give a try and check if that solves your problem or not.

You need to set it up in Skype preferences.

  • Internal mic is not working on DV7

after an update my internal mic stop working and im unable to use it with skype or other programs

The exact same thing happened to me after the same repair. Also the screws in the bottom case are now falling out. I tried doing a PRAM reset (Cmd+option+p+r when loading) but that didn't work. Does anyone have an answer - my macbook is now out of service as there were no genius bar slots available while it was still in service. I feel like Apple purposefully did this to force me to buy a new £2000 computer.

    HI there,
I have an HP Probook 4530s. When I go on MSN messenger or Skpye, the internal webcam works, but the internal mic doesn't. I can't hear them speaking either. However when I tested my internal mic outside of these two places it works perfectly fine - problems?!

  • L355D-7901 internal mic does not work

I just got my laptop 3 weeks ago and have tried to use my mic and have not had any luck. When I check my audio devices it says that my high-definition is working. Do you have any suggestions?

    Satellite L355D-S7901
Test the mic by using Sound Recorder:
       C:\Windows\System32\SoundRecorder.exe
    It's pretty much self-explanatory.

  • Internal mic does not pick up voice

Hi everyone, I tried looking this question up but most people's problem was related to skype.
I noticed my internal mic was not working when I tried to record a video in photobooth and the only audio picked up was the inverted and dull clicking of keys. My voice was totally absent. I tried opening garage band like I saw suggested online and made sure the preferences was set to internal mic, nothing.
This problem definitely occurred after upgrading to OS mavericks by the way. What should I do?

I just got off the phone with Apply support and they told me that the jack is different on the iPhone 4, both from a hardware perspective and a software perspective. I guess any accessory cables you have that work on the 3G series of phones may or may not work on the 4. That *****.

  • T400 Internal mic doesn't work

    brandnew T400, 2 Duo P8700.
The internal mic doesn't work.  I tried to use the sound recorder, and there is no voice.
I clicked      control panel->sound-> recording,   then the screen displays the  interanl Microphone is working.  but when I use the sound recorder, still nothing recorded.
Then I double clicked  the internal microphone -> levels, the drag the bar of microphone and microphone boost all to the very right.  Still the internal microphone doesnt  work.
The speaker is working fine. It is a brandnew laptop.

Good suggestion on removing the driver then clean install the simple driver.
I have been having the same problem with recent new releases of the Conexant Audio Driver for HD on a T500.
Not sure when tech support will get around to fixing the problem. I have tried every combination of Add/Remove, Device Manager Remove, and even Rollback, but the problem persists... The internal microphone gets muted no matter what one does in configuration. You can get playback of audio from CDs and audio files, but the microphone gets disconnected from the system when you install the latest versions.
The following versions will disconnect the internal microphone in T500s:
           v 3.64.10.0
           v 3.64.10.51    (the latest release)
The only stable version appears to be v 3.64.7.0 for T500s.
IBM Lenovo does appear to post previous versions of all Conexant Audio Drivers.
I got lucky, since I keep copies of all previous installs available in order to revert back to a version that is stable.
The suggestion made by this board to install the simple Conexant driver (v 3.53.0.0) is appropriate.
Thanks for the link. I am keeping a copy handy just in case.

  • I Have Bought A New iPhone5 But Its Mic Is not working

    Sir/madam,
I had Purchased a iPhone 5,Black Colour,  from HONGKONG with Serial #DN*******TWD, ON 19/1/2013, AS A PACKED PIECE. I had reached India/Chennai on 22nd Jan 2013 and had opened for use, to my dismay found that the MICROPHONE was not working, it works on handsfree but not on normal use.
I had immediately contacted Apple India support center, and had given them all my details and they tried fixing it by RESET mode and all troubleshooting methods but the MIC did not work. When I had asked them to REPLACE the defective iPhone 5, they categorically refused to support as this set was not purchased in India, hence they would not replace it here, the support center staff were very unprofessional and even their technical head was very arrogant. This is not what I had expected from Apple Support. I am using Apple products such as , iPad, iPhone 4S, MacBook Air, and iTouch 5, had not experienced any defect as of date. My purchased were from NY/USA, SAUDIARABIA, UAE. But this defective Iphone5 has given me a tough time with Apple India Support.
As I know that Apple products are deteft free, but whenever any defect arised a replacement would be provided while under WARRANTY. My iPhone 5 is just a few days old, and has International Warranty, which I had confirmed, while purchasing in HONGKONG.
I WANT THIS DEFECTIVE PHONE BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY AS THIS HAS CAUSED ME MENTAL AGONY, WASTE OF TIME, ENERGY, AND ALL THIS AFTER PAYING A BIG SUM IN DOLLARS.
i AM LOCATED IN CHENNAI, Tamilnadu, India,
    Aman Shah
I URGE  Apple CA/USA, HK for any Apple Store to arrange for an immediate replacement ASAP.
I expect the concerned authorities in Apple SUPPORT Worldwide to look into the ARROGANT, DISRESPECTFUL ATTITUDE and Very Unprofessional manner in handling Clients like us, who have been an Ardent APPLE Product Consumer form its inception.
If needed  can give you the serial nos of all my products in use.
Reply awaited to resolve this matter at the earliest.
    Thanking you,

The warranty on the iPhone has never been international.  Read it. You'll see that for yourself.
Take it back to the country where you purchased it if you want it replaced under warranty.
By the way, you're not talking to Apple. Posting personal information in a public forum is NOT smart.

  • Recently installed Windows 7 on Pavilion dv6748us - internal microphone does not work

    Hi,

I have been searching the web extensively, without success, to find how to resolve this issue.
I recently installed Windows 7, 32 bit, on my wife's HP Pavilion dv6748us laptop. Now her internal microphone does not work.
Have gotten some "roadside" advice to use a Windows Vista driver; Have no idea what the driver is or how to get it.
Have found some information about uninstalling realtek audio driver and reinstalling an older version; Have no idea on this one either.
Would really appreciate a definitive answer with a positive result.
    Thanks for all help.
The drivers for the laptop are located here. select Vista and Driver-audio. The Vista driver should work.  You can uninstall the driver from within the Device manager. Start --> type devmgmt.msc and the device manager will open. Locate the HD audio device and right-click it and update the driver.
After that is done go to Control Panel and Sound and the recording tab up top.  Check to see if the microphone is grayed out. (not grayed out means driver is properly installed). The microphone should also have a green checkmark next to it.  It is now a matter of selecting the microphone then selecting Properties to enable the microphone and then  test and adjust the input level. Look at the tabs (listen, levels and advanced).
Had you considered trying Windows update or the Realtec website as a drivers source?

    Hi:
Looking at your system information you could have one of two possible audio cards:
Conexant HD audio or the RealTek HD Audio
The fact that you couldn't install the RealTek HD audio driver indicates to me that you don't have a RealTek audio card. Check your device manager and look at your sound card and check to make sure which audio card you have.
Here is the Vista 32 bit driver for the Conexant audio card:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
Here is the Vista 32 bit driver for the Realtek audio card:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
If you in fact have the Realtek audio card, I would download and install the latest, greatest HD driver directly from the RealTek site:
Accept the agreement, download and install the first one on the list. Maybe it has been updated to fix the issue you are experiencing.
