  • Build & Capture TS (MDT) - Capture fails at PrepareOS (sysprep) with "Boot Image package not found"

    Hi all,
I'm searching for a while on this one now... I'm unable to perform a "ZeroTouch" Build & Capture of my reference machine to get a master image, with Capture Media it seems to be working, but this is a manual step...
While running a W7SP1 Build & Capture task sequence, the "Capture the reference machine" group fails at "PrepareOS". The step before "PrepareOS",  "Prepare ConfigMgr Client" runs without any issues.
The only error I can find, shows up in the report "OSD - history of a TS":

I've searched the smsts.log file hundreds of times for errors, nothing there...
Can anyone give me a clue or just something...? I really don't know what my next step, to make this work, could be...
    Thanks!

The error Torsten pointed out gave me some clue... After much digging around on the web, I've stumbled upon this
article which led me into adding the following TS-variables:
    SMSTSDownloadRetryCount: 5
    SMSTSDownloadRetryDelay: 15
It seems to be working now on all types of hardware...
Case closed, thank you for the assistance!
Let's hope this article can save someone a couple of days... :)

  • Bluetooth peripheral device driver not found-samsung fascinate

I have a samsung fascinate and a brand new dell inspiron laptop.  I cannot get these two together via bluetooth.  The laptop states the "bluetooth peripheral device driver not found."
Are there any solutions for this?
    Thanks!

Sure! Try this: First, make sure you have activated Bluetooth pairing on your Fascinate. You can do this by going to your home screen, select Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth. Once Bluetooth is on, have your Fascinate scan for your computer by going to Bluetooth settings > Scan for devices. You might be able to pair them that way, instead of trying to find the phone using your computer.

    Please Help.

    Hi Pazza,
As Torsten said,  please ensure that you have an x86 and x64 boot image configured and deployed, regardless of the architecture of the OS that
you wish to deploy. Secondly, ensure that the boot images for both architectures have the network drivers for the respective model that you are imaging injected.
Otherwise, please review the link below:

  • USB flash drive defined as boot device but not visible by the boot driver.

I have installed Mountain Lion (10.8.2) over Lion a few days ago. In the follow-up operations, I tried to create a USB flash drive recovery device, using methods widely advertised over the web. I first tried this with an 8 GB "Kingston DT 101 G2" device. The creation of the device either manually through the use of the Disk Utility or using a small utility called Lion DiskMaker 2.0.2 worked OK.
However, after setting the resulting device as the boot device through "System Preference", it never booted on it, but instead on the normal system disk. Conversely, when booting with the option key depressed, I could only see as option the normal system disk or its recovery partition, but never the USB flash drive, although it was present.
After numerous tests, through the so-called "trial and error" method, I eventually found out that I obtained perfectly bootable USB devices with either a generic device seen as "USB 2 USB Flash Drive" by the disk utility, or with a "Kingston Data Traveler G3" USB flash drive (both being 8 GB devices).
Now, I can understand that, for whatever reason, some USB devices, although formatted as boot devices, will not be seen by the boot driver. But, in such a case, it is a serious issue that "System Preference" accepts to set them as boot devices. I would suggest that "System Preference" tests whether the boot driver is able to see them and, if not, issues an error message instead of accepting them as boot device.
I also have an unrelated side question: when restoring a disk through the Disk Utility, is the resulting new volume defragmented and compacted by the process or not?

I can only tell you that some USB flash drives don't work as expected on Macs, and I don't believe it is specifically related to the product since they often work for others. I have five flash drives from a particular manufacturer that when plugged into one of my computers are not recognized, yet they are on all my other computers. I have six or seven older ones from the same manufacturer, same model, that work fine on all my computers. I have two Kingston Travelers that would not work as a bootable device on any of my computers. Many other users here have had issues with San Disk flash drives.
I don't know if this helps any, but at least you can know that you aren't alone.
One thing I can suggest is when you prepare a new flash drive that you go through this process:
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
This may fix boot problems with new flash drives because they are often prepared by the manufacturer with NTFS. To fully clear the drive you must both partition and format the device. Writing zeros has in some cases helped make a drive bootable when at first it was not.

Also, when I go the Map application, the iphone indicate that I'm locateded in China while I'm in Tunisia. Now, I can't connect to my iphone to itunes, and I can't reset it because it ask me to enter a password that I didn't set.

  • Old iPod mini can't be recognized after formatting, and iTunes 'Apple Mobile Device Driver not found.'

My roommate gave me an old iPod Mini a few days ago. It was working fine 'til I plugged it into my computer and it asked me to format it. I did, and now it cannot be recognized by iTunes or my computer. My computer views it as a "removable disk" which cannot be accessed. In devices, it is listed as an Apple iPod though, so I'm hoping not all is lost. I have tried many quick fixes I've read on internet (including changing disk letter) but to no avail. I have reinstalled the new iTunes and now that is telling me it has not installed properly, and when I ran diagnostics, it reads that the Apple Mobile Device Driver not found. I will copy & paste all the info from the diagnostic run below, and if anybody can help me with my new (old) iPod, I'd be everly greatful!

What i knew about iPhone before buying it:
    What You Need
    To use iPhone, you need:
A new two-year wireless service plan with AT&T
A Mac or a PC with a USB 2.0 port and one of the following operating systems:
Mac OS X version10.4.10 or later
Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition
iTunes 7.3 or later, available at www.itunes.com
    An iTunes Store account
    An Internet connection
You must be at least 18 years old to open a new AT&T wireless account. You will need a
major credit card to open a new iTunes Store account.
    Yeahyeah check all that stuff;
Oh well; just when i thought i'd finally cross over to the beautiful packaging of APPLE. I remember in design school that form follows function. Thanks.

  • My ipad mini says to connect to itunes, and I try to restore it, but after its done extracting a message comes up saying that device is not found, is there anyway i can fix this? I don't care if i don't get my stuff back

My iPad mini says to connect to iTunes, and I try to restore it, but after its done extracting a message comes up saying that device is not found, is there anyway i can fix this? I don't care if i don't get my stuff back, i just want my iPad restored to its starting settings.

If everything else that you try fails, I would try using another computer. Since you don't care about saving any data, any computer that is running the latest version of iTunes might be able to restore the iPad. You could make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar and they can do it for you.
If that isn't feasible for you, try using a different cable, a different USB port. reboot the computer, and reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Then try again.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909G – The HP Imaging Device was not found

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless A909G.  My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit that was upgraded from the original Windows Vista 64bit that came installed on my HP Pavilion Elite m9400t CTO Desktop PC.
After performing the Windows 7 upgrade I installed OJP8500vA909_Full_13 to support the 8500, and everything worked fine.
I recently noticed that the scanner function had stopped working from Solution Center, and uninstalled V13.  I downloaded and installed OJP8500vA909_Full_14.  The install completes without error, but then I get scanner error “The HP imaging device was not found”  with extended error code 8, [(1,0, -2147221164)].
I have performed all the suggested Solution Center steps to resolve the error without success. Including:
    1) Updated the firmware to OfficejetPro8500A909g_R1006B_ENG
    2) Ran OJP8500vA909_Corporate_Scrubber_14
    3) Uninstalled all programs, deleted %temp% files, and changed the startup using MSCONFIG.
    4) Deleted all other imaging programs including camera software, and reinstalled.
    5) Performed HP Update and installed network fix.
I have performed these steps many times and keep getting the same error.   The scanner works using the front panel function “Scan to network folder.

RMAN-20206: log sequence not found in the repository

Apart from the output being hardly readable (please refer to the FAQ in the right upper hand corner how to post output), I don't see any sequence 10.
You seem to mistake the column recid for the sequence column.
The sequences are listed in -not surprisingly- the sequence# column.

  • HT4097 The Pad "iPad" could not be restored. The device could not found

I try to update my Ipad IOS in ver6. Every thing was fine but in the last stage after software extraction i am having message "The Pad "iPad" could not be restored. The device could not found"
    Please give me a solution.

If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • [Solvd]hd0,gpt1error: file /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi' not found

I'm trying to configure GRUB2 to load Windows 8 on UEFI system.
    os-prober does not detect it.
grub-mkconfig creates only for Linux (tried both with mounted and unmounted Windows partition).
So I went for manual entry.
    I executed the following
    $ mount /dev/sde1 /boot/efi/
    $ grub-probe --target=fs_uuid /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    69DB-D2EB
    # grub-probe --target=hints_string /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    --hint-bios=hd4,gpt1 --hint-efi=hd4,gpt1 --hint-baremetal=ahci4,gpt1
    Created menuentry for /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    menuentry "Microsoft Windows 8" {
    insmod part_gpt
    insmod fat
    insmod search_fs_uuid
    insmod chain
    search --fs-uuid --hint-bios=hd4,gpt1 --hint-efi=hd4,gpt1 --hint-baremetal=ahci4,gpt1 69DB-D2EB
    chainloader /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
And when I choose it it says
    hd0,gpt1error: file /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi' not found
Note that EFI partition is not mounted is fstab (does it make a difference for GRUB?).
    Also, specifying
    chainloader /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    Gives the same not found.
P.S. Windows "fast start" is disabled

    Thank you, the.ridikulus.rat.
I just booted back from windows to tell the same.
I just found the solution here
    http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions … th-windows
I was configuring according to the ArchWiki.
The ArchWiki was missing that point.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR … I-GPT_Mode
    it said
    menuentry "Microsoft Windows Vista/7/8 x86_64 UEFI-GPT" {
    insmod part_gpt
    insmod fat
    insmod search_fs_uuid
    insmod chain
    search --fs-uuid $hints_string $uuid
    chainloader /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    Just edited the wiki. Thanks!
I initially wrote that section of the wiki (with "--set=root" included), but someone had changed it recently ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?ti … did=276742 ).
