If the file was not originally from iTunes, you'll need to redownload it from it's original source or rerip it from the CD.  Files can sometimes go bad and become corrupted.  As to how or why that happens, there are a number of ways.

If you do happen to run into a bad file, try converting it to a different format and resyncing the new version over to your iPod.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I have just brought an ATV and have the up to date software on everything. When trying to sync my itunes library with ATV after 45 mins -90 mins i lose my wifi connection on everything (mac computer, apple tv, iphone) this has not happened before I got the Apple TV and I have always have a strong and perfect connection, even when I am syncing itunes & ATV it is perfect for the first 45 mins.
I have tried resetting the ATV to its factory settings and switching all other devices off when syncing. this hasn't worked.

without knowing the make/model of your router, then no.
and even then, unless someone here has that specific router, then we can't give you a 100% step-by-step instructions for doing it.

  • When trying to sync my iPod, it says that it cannot be done because the required file cannot be found. What does that mean?

I added a few songs to my iTunes and my computer started moving slow. So I took a break by shutting down the computer then waiting 20 mins before I restarted it and continued downloading songs. When I tried to sync the iPod, a small windiw apeared saying that my iPod could not be synced because the required file could not be found. What does this mean? What do I do?

When you updated your iPhone did you also update the iTunes on your computer?

  • ITunes quits unexpectedly when trying to sync my iPod classic

I have been trying to sync my iPod with iTunes and I keep getting the message "The application iTunes quit unexpectedly". I can relaunch, report or ignore. If I relaunch, it just quits again. I recently purchased an iPhone and I have been syncing it and have not synced the iPod since I got the iPhone. Now when I try, I get this message. I can sync the iPhone with no problem but as soon as I plug in the iPod, iTunes quits.
I have uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled, to no avail. I am not sure what else to do. I would restore the iPod, but iTunes quits before I can. I do not want to lose my entire music library so I don't want to do anything drastic. I also want to be able to sync my iPod.
Does anyone know what I can do? Also, I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8. Should I update?

I don't really have anything else running and it works when I sync my iPhone, so I doubt it is the RAM. My computer is less than a year old, so I don't think it is that either. It is like it doesn't 'like' the iPod since I got the iPhone. I know that sounds crazy, but it worked fine prior to getting the iPhone, but now, since I have the iPhone, it doesn't want to 'play' with the iPod.

  • When trying to sync my Ipod, it tells me that I have to erase the contents of the ipod to continue

I had to reformat my hard drive and therefore I lost my ITunes library. When I download ITunes again and tried to sync my Ipod, it tells me the following,"You can only sync with one library. Click here to erase the contents of the Ipod and sync the library.
What can I do to correct this problem. I do not want to lose my music, movies or videos. Help me please.

If you moved your iTunes library by simply copying it to another drive, you may not be able to access your music even if you reconnect to that library, you may get a lot of "not found" errors because the music is not where the library thinks it should be. First thing to do is put it back where it was.  Then reconnect it. Then follow the steps in this link:

  • Itunes locks up when trying to sync new 80gb iPod

I just bought a new iPod. And keep trying to sync it to my computer, but iTunes keeps locking up on me and there is no activity. It lets me start registration then the program freezes before I can submit. Sometimes it starts to sync files but then freezes. I let it stay that way for hours, then shut it off and find nothing updated.
What's the deal? My computer has 2 GB of ram, hundreds of GB of free space and a 3 ghz processor so I doubt it's hardware limitations

Yes, worth a try. It's probably worth doing a complete uninstall of all related programs too, prior to reinstalling iTunes. for instructions on that, see:
[Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923]
Note ... at the time of me making this reply, the instructions in there aren't quite complete for 64-bit systems. After step 14 of *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled,* I'd also include the following two steps:
(14-1/3) Open the Common Files folder.
(14-2/3) Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
(There's a Common Files folder where Apple stuff is stashed in the program files folder as well as the Program files (x86) folder.)
