Laptop sleeps every 15 minutes with sleep mode turned off

I have a Satellite U305-S5077 that won't continue to run for more than about 15 minutes if I'm not using the mouse or keyboard, even when I'm using it plugged in.  The screen blanks and the power out stops to the TV to which it is hooked up.  If I hit the mouse or keyboard it starts back up. I have set the screen saver to over 1000 minutes, I have set all the power management methods when plugged in to Off, and this hasn't affected this problem.  Is there something else that I need to change or turn off in some setting?  If so, what?  Or any other diagnostic tips to track down what is causing the problem?
Thanks.

Sorry, I just figured this out.  My wife had not fully plugged the laptop in so it was running on battery power without us realizing it.  Problem solved.

How in Ipad 3.2 setup time go to sleep mode[turn off but not shut down]?

Go to Settings>General>Auto Lock - tap the arrow and then choose your time setting to put the iPad to sleep.

  • HT1430 In iPad terms does "control lock" refer to sleep mode - turning off the screen?

Just getting familiar with the iPad.

Sorry, wrong term! I should have said "Auto Lock" not Control Lock. Auto Lock is in "Settings" "General", about half way down the menu.  I'm looking for a way to lengthen the time it takes to enter sleep mode. There are 5 options in Auto Lock. 2,5,10,15 minutes and Never.

  • Please ship future iPod Shuffles with Shuffle Mode TURNED OFF

I just got my iPod and loaded it full of podcasts. It kept flashing orange indicating that it was empty. I spent more than 4 frustrating hours restoring, reloading, reading, forums etc etc.
Finally, I found a post that said the iPod will not play Podcasts when switched to shuffle mode. WHY NOT! Man! That was frustrating. At least it works now... like a charm.
    Apple,
Please ship future iPods with Shuffle turned off and/or mention this issue in the quick reference cards and the .pdf manual so that others don't waste hours because of this quirk.
    Thanks

    Thanks, 0Ari0
I looked again at the .pdf and insert and still found nothing mentioning podcasts not playing in shuffle mode.
I suppose that I am once again the exceptional user in that I only loaded podcasts onto it and could not get them to play until researching the "problem/feature" regarding podcasts and shuffle mode.
I realize that podcasts are something that you typically don't want played randomly. I do want them to play in an order. However I want them to play in an order that I specify. I have tried creating playlists, dragging each file individually to the iPod to get them in an order I want. Regardless of how I intertwine different episodes of different shows for a varied playlist the iPod somehow groups them, I believe, by release date.
sadly they also get played backwards from most recent to the oldest regardless of how I load them. I want to listen from oldest to newest. Another, quirk that doesn't work for me personally. But, that is something I still have to research and figure out. I'm hopeful that it can do that.
Anyway, thanks for responding. I have reading to do.

  • 8520 : Battery draining in sleep mode/turned off

    Hi Guys,
    Happy new year!
I am now confused with what happened to my Blackberry device. Here is the problem. I charge the blackberrry battery up to 50%, then I unplug the charger then I turn it off. When I sleep, the battery drains so fast, I don't know what's happening, then my battery completely low, so I can't turn on the device.
Here I attach you 2 screenshots, hopefully it will helps you to understand.
    Thank you.

Did the battery drain previously? Have you installed any new applications? Try removing your battery and reinserting it after 30 minutes, or backup the stuff you need and completely wiping your phone. As a last resort you might have to buy a new battery, unless its a problem with the phone.

  • Bedside Mode Turning Off?

Has anyone had a problem with Bedside Mode turning off sometime in the middle of the night?  This is my second BBZ10 and the first one did not do this.  (I had a battery issue with the first one, so Verizon swapped my entire phone since it had only been a week.)  Everything else seems to work OK, but this is just one kind of frustrating issue.
Thanks for any thoughts or commiseration!

Look at the free memory; I've written on this here -- the unit is likely running out of free RAM and watchdog-restarting, which beats a hang.
It's a problem that Blackberry needs to find and fix, but you can defend against it to some degree by looking at free RAM before you retire and if its low (under 800MB or so) and/or you have a large number of backgrounded apps running, reboot the phone.  Yeah, you shouldn't have to and Blackberry ought to make fixing this a priority.
I've yet to have an overnight blowup.

  • My MacBook wont turn on but the sleep mode turn on

Yeah, if you're having that many problems, I would either go to an Apple Store or call Apple and demand a new one. Something doesn't sound right with your MacBook at all.

  • I cant find my pdf/ibooks on computer after backing up my iPad (they are on my iPad).   Also, I'm having issues with my Ipad turning off about every 2 minutes so I want to restore it.  Dont want to lose my files from my iPad.

Actually I have 2 problems:  I cant find my pdf/ibooks on computer after backing up my iPad (they are on my iPad).  I looked under Ipad, I Books, PDFs, and it doesn't show them on the computer. How do I manually transfer these files?
Also, I'm having issues with my Ipad turning off about every 2 minutes, and I want to restore it.  I want to make sure all of the files are backed up before I restore.  My trouble started when I was trying to update my IPad but it was taking too long (internet was scetchy) so I powered off...now Im having problems.  I haven't tried to update again since this problem. Any suggestions?  Should I restore? Should I update to 7.0.6?  (currently 7.0.3).

  • G4 MDD 1.25 does not sleep but turns off instead.

I have a G4 1.25 MDD single running 10.3.9 with 80GB and 20GB HD, 1.5GB RAM which is mated to a 20" Apple cinema monitor.
Both hard drives have been erased and verified using the disk utility from the software install CD and the OSX installed cleanly. I have run the Apple hardware test and all the results are okay.
However, if i try to sleep the computer from the pulldown menu, the computer performs the motions as if it's going to sleep but turns off instead. If i try to sleep it with the power button on the monitor nothing happens. Other than this, the computer is in perfect working order.
Does anyone know what the problem can be??
    Many thanks

    Hi-
Steps to take are replacing the PRAM battery with a new one, followed by a PMU reset:

  • Which is better for computer and program... sleep or turn off?

When not using, which is better for the program, sleep or turn off the computer and any explanations are welcome...

I advise shutting down rather than sleep. A good shut down often clears up nascent problems, and of course you're saving electricity by not running your machine and also saving those precious MTBF hours on all the mechanical components. Think of the hours it would sleep vs. the number of hours you actually use the machine. Even though sleep consumes less electricity, it still consumes.

  • When I click sleep, Imac turns off not just sleep

When I click sleep, Imac turns off not just sleep. Any fix?

    Hi Hank,
    Some things to try...
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
(SMC reset=  Shut down, disconnect power cord for 10 seconds, reconnect power cord, wait 5 more seconds, turn computer back on)
but it is slightly different:   (PMU REST = Shut computer down, disconnect power cord for 10+ seconds, reconnect power cord WHILE SIMULTANEOOUSLY PRESSING POWER BUTTON, let off power button for a few seconds, then press power button again to restart the mac mini.)
Can also be caused by USB or Firewire devices.

Have my MacBook Pro plugged into a monitor and also using a wireless keyboard. I want to close the MacBook but every time I do the monitor turns off - is there a way to avoid this?

Press any key on the wireless keyboard after you close the MBP and it goes to sleep. The computer will wake up with the external monitor as its display. This is called Clamshell mode.

  • Everyone 5 or 10 minutes I have to turn off and on the wifi.

Hi... Every 5 or 10 minutes I have to turn off and on the wifi if im using safari or anything else, like email or apps that need the wifi. Also if im not using the ipad and i pick it up to use it i first have to turn off and on the wifi otherwise it will not load the pages. I only have my ipad a month now and its been like it from the first day.Any solutions to this problem?

mhmediaonline I had tried that before but it didn't change anything. About two days I went to a cafeteria and I couldn't connect to the wifi but two friends who also have iPads connected without a problem. I also noticed yesterday that it took a whole day for the wifi to get stuck and that I didn't have to turn off and on the wifi,I just pressed Renew Lease and the wifi was ok. Have any other iPad users encountered the same problem? Any other suggestions?

  • When i connect ipod 2 minutes later my computer turns off

when i connect my ipod to my computer 2 minutes later my computer turns off. It doesnt shut down, my screen goes blank and i cant do anything but turn my computer off at the wall. I have a healthy computer with service pack 2 so should be fine. Itunes recognises my ipod but because of this problem I have attempted the 5 r's to no avail.
Help why would it do this i cant find anyone with a similar problem.

    hmmmmm.
let's see if there's a blue screen lurking behind the display problem.
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
now plug the ipod in. do you get a blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
