Laptop specs suitability for Creative Suite CS3

Hello,
I need to spec up a laptop for a work colleague to run Creative Suite CS3, particularly Premiere CS3. The machine will be used primarily to capture and edit SD video - HD is not a requirement. Our IT department has provided the following specs. Can anyone advise what needs to be added/changed to ensure Premiere will run correctly and efficiently.
I think my main concern is support for the graphics card and whether the machine would be better running XP rather than Vista.
Dell XPS M1730
Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.20 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2-cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English
Base Warranty - 1 Year XPS Premium Hardware Support (incl. Gaming and On-Site Support)
Crimson Red with White LED Backlights
17.0" UltraSharp WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT with TrueLife with Integrated 2.0MP web cam
2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
320GB (7200rpm) SATA RAID 0 Stripe (2x160GB)
Dual 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8700M GT graphics with NVIDIA SLI Technology
Fixed 8x DVD+/-RW Slim Slot Load drive, including SW
Primary 9-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (85 WHr)
Our institution primarily deal with Dell and this spec was provided by our IT department. Personally I prefer HP machines so if anyone has any other reccomendations please advise - also anything else I may need to consider.
Budget for the machine is up to about £1500
Thanks

I've been working with my new Dell XPS M1330 for a week now.
T7500, 2 G RAM, nVidia 8400, 160 SATA 7200rpm drive, Vista Home Premium.
Prem CS3 with Cineform AspectHD worked fine on HDV short 2 to 3 minute stuff...did not attempt longer.
Today my external SATA 7200rpm drive and SATA ExpressCard arrived. Using it, with my internal drive used now for system/programs only, I just captured 10 minutes HDV, applied a few titles and transitions, and output to 1440 x 1080i 29.97 High Quality.
No problems...yet.
Almost as fast as my Desktop with Pentium 940D, two striped Raid sets and 4G RAM on WindowsXP Pro.

  • Need replacement disc for Creative Suite CS3 Design Standard

My hard drive on my MacBook Pro is crapping out on me and refuses to let me make a full bootable backup so I can replace the disk. Problem is that I've foolishly managed to lose my physical disks for Creative Suite CS3 Design Standard so I can't do a reinstall. Can anyone on the forum help? Thanks in advance.

If you still have your serial number somewhere, you may call Adobe Tech Support and provide them with the details that you have. If you are really nice to them, they may send you a replacement disc. Good Luck.

I have a license for Creative Suite CS3 and bought an upgrade for CS5 a few years later. Would the original serial number for CS3 be the same for my CS5 version?

No... if you do not have CS3 installed, you will enter your CS3 serial number when asked for proof of a qualifying product... and then you will enter your different CS5 serial number... every version, new or upgrade, has a unique serial number

  • My serial number for creative suite CS3 production premium student edition is not being accepted.

I forgot to deactivate it on my last computer before selling it. I now do not have access to it. I am wondering if this is why it won't work. now what do i do? there does not seem to be a phone number advertised that I can call.

Unfortunately, phone support isn't available for CS3 however you can start a chat by selecting Photoshop from the list here: Contact Customer Care.

  • Is this Laptop Spec suitable for CS6?

    Hello all!
Ideally I'd like to purchase this laptop this week, before I go freelance (need something to potentially take to jobs that'll be powerful enough to cope!) And just wanted to see if I was needing to change anything to make it ready for CS6. My main programs will be AE, PhotoShop & Illustrator. (Ill also likely have C4D on there).
Really appreciate any advice. I've trawled the forums, here & on laptop building/ benchmark sites to try to get the best advice, so just want to check if I've missed anything glaring that'll help me work better (& faster). Appreciate your time folks, cheers!

  • Installed, licensed, and working Creative Suite CS3 fails.  How do I clean Adobe off my system for new installation?

I run Macbook Pro with Mavericks.  I have a licensed copy of Creative Suite CS3 installed.  It simply stopped working.  InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator close upon opening.  Tried repairing the installation, uninstalling, and reinstalling.  Didn't work. The reinstallation did no provide an opportunity to enter the serial number. Tried CS5cleaner.  Didn't work.  It left the applications installed and deleted the uninstall application.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The system requirement for CS3 is :
    Macintosh
PowerPC® G4 or G5 or multicore Intel processor (Adobe Premiere® Pro, Encore®, and Soundbooth™ require a multicore Intel processor; Adobe OnLocation™ CS3 is a Windows application and may be used with Boot Camp)
Mac OS X v.10.4.9; Java™ Runtime Environment 1.5 required for Adobe Version Cue® CS3 Server
1GB of RAM for DV; 2GB of RAM for HDV and HD; more RAM recommended when running multiple components
24GB of available hard-disk space to install all core components (up to 1GB of additional free space may be required during installation); custom installing select components requires less space
Dedicated 7,200 RPM hard drive for DV and HDV editing; striped disk array storage (RAID 0) for HD; SCSI disk subsystem preferred
    Core Audio compatible sound card
1,280x1,024 monitor resolution with 32-bit video card; Adobe recommended graphics card for GPU-accelerated playback
For OpenGL support: Some 3D features in Photoshop CS3 Extended require an OpenGL 1.4 capable graphics card with at least 64MB of VRAM; Adobe After Effects® supported OpenGL 2.0 card (NVIDIA recommended)
    DVD-ROM drive
Blu-ray burner required for Blu-ray Disc creation
    SuperDrive required for DVD burning
QuickTime 7.1.5 software required to use QuickTime features
Internet or phone connection required for product activation
Broadband Internet connection required for Adobe Stock Photos* and other services
Please compare it with your system specification.

    Dear all,
I bought a new laptop for higher performance but it is with Windows 8 Pro.
Do you know if Creative Suite CS3 is compatible with Windows 8 Pro? If not how many costs the upgrade? I weekly use Photoshop almost, the other ones less than monthly.
    Thank you for your support,
    Kind regards,
    Sandra

yes, it's compatible though you may need to install using compatibility mode.

  • Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Design Premium Student Upgrade?

I bought a student edition of CS3 Design Premium.
After purchasing it I found that I only use the Photoshop part of the Suite.
Am I able to upgrade the Photoshop portion, upgrade the complete Suite or do I have to purchase a new student copy of  CS5 Photoshop.
    Thanks in advance.

Bob -- I appreciate your bad news
Looks like I'll qualify for a teachers copy of CS5 -- I guess I'll pick one of those up.
I had a quick glance at your article & am sure that both I & my children (students) will find it of use.
Best to you & thanks again.

Subject: Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Design Premium Student Upgrade?
First things first...there are no student upgrades. If you're still eligible you can buy the software at student prices.
In the case of actual upgrades, no, you can't upgrade an individual sutie component.
I have an article on my web site that might be of interest to you: http://www.theindesignguy.com/purchase-advice.shtml

  • Adobe creative suite cs3 design premium

    Hi there,
I've recently bought the new macbook pro (10.9.2) and was wondering if the ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE CS3 DESIGN PREMIUM software would still work on the new laptop? If anybody could help me, it would be most appreciated.
    Regards,
    Amy

I just had a look at some of the Adobe CS3 products at Roaring Apps (http://roaringapps.com/apps?index=a) and it seems that most of the apps in the CS3 Design Premium Suite will, surprisingly, work with Mavericks.
Not you'll just have to find a way to install it (unless you're restoring from a backup - in which case you'll probably still need your activation code).
    Good luck,
    Clinton

after reloading adobe creative suite cs3 on my mac 10.4.11 acrobat will not open any pdfs it previously opened. help!

hello.   hey, thanks very much for writing back.  i got some good info with a search or two.  (info about what regedit is and what corresponds to it in OS X -- regedit allows you to edit "preference" keys for individual programs,  OSX's equivalent for these keys are the .plists in User & System: Preferences and Application Support)
what i ended up doing was uninstalling Premiere Pro (not the suite, just PPro).   Then i deleted a few preference files:
    from User /Preferences/Adobe:
    com.adobe.AdobePremierePro.plist
    com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.5.0.plist
    and from System Preferences:
the file:  Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs
    and..
    /.../Premiere Pro/5.0/...
AMEPrefs.xml     (i noticed that there's also a preference file in Media Encoder's own folder so i didn't sweat this one)
    Debug Database.txt
    Placeholder Preset.epr
    PostEncodeCmds.pref
    PresetCache.xml
    Trace Database.txt
    NOTE:
of course i don't know if deleting any files beyond the 2 .plist files in User Prefs was necessary, but...  it seems to have worked.
I then reinstalled Premiere Pro CS5, and fired up an old project and i've got playback of HD and DV files, and snappy editing and rendering,  so hopefully i'm good to go.   I'm just going to stick with v5.0.0 because i actually don't remember ever having any trouble with it, and i don't remember v5.0.4 adding anything i was 'missing' or 'needed'
hopefully, this thread will be useful for any future folks that run into trouble - and it's got a solution for both Windows and OS X
    happy editing,
    peace

  • Can you install Adobe Creative Suite CS3 on a 2012 Macbook Air running Lion?

Can you install Adobe Creative Suite CS3 on a 2012 Macbook Air running Lion?

Are you talking about adobe creative cloud?
If you are, the Adobe Creative Cloud give you most of Adobe's tools (and all that most would need) to do anything.  I will warn you about this though, is that it is a subscription, and you are basically renting it.  that means you really do not own it.
About the hard disk space, all Adobe apps seem to take up at least a GB (and this does not matter if you get the master collection or the Creative Cloud).  so ether way, it will take some space.
Also, if you want to try-before-you-buy, you can go to creative.adobe.com, and get a free account and try out all of he adobe apps available for creative cloud.  The best part of it, your apps will be updated to CS7 (if or when it comes out) instead of buying the apps again in your subscriptions.  if you need even more information, you can go to adobe's site to find out more (www.adobe.com)

  • Requirements for Creative Suite 4

We have a Apple iMac G4/1.0, w/ OS X upgrade & an added 1GB RAM. Do you think we have the minimum requirements for Creative Suite 4?

Hello Sgtgold30 and welcome to discussions,
" Do you think we have the minimum requirements for Creative Suite 4? "
I doubt that buying, installing and using this software is going to be a pleasing experience on that particular Mac. The following " specs " are pasted from the Adobe website...
    Mac OS
    PowerPC® G5 or multicore Intel® processor
    Mac OS X v10.4.11–10.5.4
Java™ Runtime Environment 1.5 required for Adobe Version Cue® Server
1GB of RAM or more recommended
10.3GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional hard-disk space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on flash-based storage devices)
1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
    DVD-ROM drive
QuickTime 7.4.5 software required for multimedia features
Broadband Internet connection required for online services
It might just work. It might take hours and hours to work though.
    Regards.
    Ian.

  • Creative Suite CS3 and InDesign CS4 Issues

    Hi,
I'm hoping this is the right place to post. I installed parts of Creative Suite CS3 on my system (just the basics, PS, ID, Illustrator, etc.).
Later on I just got Photoshop CS4 and Installed that.
Now, months later, I want to instally the rest of CS 3 on my system, yet half way through Disk 1, it ejects the disk and asks me to install the InDesign CS4 disk. I don't have InDesign CS4! I did install the trial version but then uninstalled it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    A,
Uninstall anything CS4 (use Adobe's uninstaller; do not just drag to trash). Install your CS3 components; then install Photoshop CS4 again. It would seem there is either some dependence upon certain components shared by both versions; or maybe it's the way some data is transfered behind the scenes from one version to the other.
Remember to repair permissions and run DiskWarrior to fix any permissions, disk or directory issues that sometimes crop up.
On a slightly different note, on my well-maintained system, I had the Master Collection CS3 on my Mac; then installed the Master Collection CS4. When I recently decided to uninstall most of CS3 (per instructions), I found that for a few CS4 apps, I had to enter my password the first time I launched them. But Photoshop would tell me some scripts were missing, and the solution was to uninstall Photoshop CS4 and reinstall it.
    Go figure!
    Neil
