Laptop takes over Bluetooth mouse

I have the wireless Apple mouse connected to my iMac (flatpanel) and an oldfashioned Apple mouse (with a cord) to my laptop. When I put my MacBook on my desk and start up both computers, it happens often that the wireless mouse is robbed by the MacBook. I have to switch off Bluetooth on the MacBook and not until then, I am able to walk through the procedure of connecting the iMac with the mouse. Is there a way to prevent the mouse from this interaction?

And what happens if I buy an extra wireless mouse, to be used on my two Macs? Will they interfere?
Pair one mouse per computer. They will not interfere with each other.

  • Stream Audio to Laptop Speakers over Bluetooth

    Hey everyone,
So I'm having an issue where I can't stream audio from any of my portable devices to playback through the laptop speakers, over bluetooth. I have no issues pairing devices to the laptop, nor sendng or recieving files using bluetooth. The only problem is streaming audio through the laptops speakers
I have the latest Bluetooth drivers installed for the ' Ralink rt3290 01 adapter'. I got the drivers from the official HP website (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5386... yet audio streaming over bluetooth stll does not work
For testing purposes, I paired the same portable devices to another laptop from a different manufacturer, running windows 8.1 pro, and the audio streaming worked perfectly. All I did was pair the other laptop to my portable device, and press play.
I've spent some time browsing various forums looking for solutions, but nothing has worked so far. I don't know what else to try
Any and all help resolving this issue is greatly apprecited. I really want to show off the great speakers that this laptop has

     Hello @cipegwa,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your notebook computer is not able to stream audio from any of your portable devices to playback through the notebook speakers, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure that the Bluetooth software is installed correctly on your computer, I recommend removing the drivers from Programs and Features or the Device Manager. Once the old software is removed, please restart your computer.
When the notebook has booted back into Windows, I recommend downloading the HP Wireless Button Driver, as well as any applicable wireless or Bluetooth drivers needed from the HP Support Assistant.
Additionally, I also suggest following the steps below:
Step 1. Go to device manager
Step 2. Right click on "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" that you want
Step 3. Select "Update Driver Software..."
Step 4. Choose "Browse my computer for driver software"
Step 5. Choose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Step 6. Select "Ports (COM & LPT)"
Step 7. Select "Microsoft" at "Manufacturer" list
Step 8. Finally select "Standard Serial over Bluetooth link"
If you are still unable to pair with a Bluetooth device try the following:
Step 1. Search for "Change device" in the Windows 8 Start menu.
Step 2. Click on where it says Change device installation settings.
Step 3. Select the No, let me choose what to do option.
Step 4. Check the automatically get the device app option
Step 5. Click Save changes to save the settings you just chose
As well you can try this:
Step 1: Go to RUN (Windows Logo + R) and type “services.msc” and Enter
Step 2: Now find “Bluetooth Support Service” and double click on it
Step 3: Now click on Log On Tab and Type in "Local Service" without quotes
Step 4. Click on “This Account”
Step 5: Now remove any passwords leave the password field blank
Step 6: Underneath the upper left title should be a hyperlink "Start"
    Step 7. Click "Start"
You can also check Power Management tab and unchecked the box that said "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • IPhone plugged into laptop interferes with Bluetooth mouse

    iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.1
    iTunes version 10.0.1.22
Laptop is an HP Envy 15 running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Mouse is a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000
The mouse works fine when the iPhone is sitting next to the laptop, but not plugged in, so I don't think it's EMI/wireless interference. When I plug in the iPhone to the laptop to charge it or sync it, the mouse begins acting funny. There is momentary interference (for maybe a second about every 5 seconds) where the cursor will stop moving and the buttons on the mouse won't do anything. If I go into iTunes and click on the iPhone under devices, the mouse will sometimes lock up and eventually disconnect (I know it disconnects, because I have my laptop's touchpad set to turn back on after the wireless mouse disconnects).
As far as I know, this only happens with the iPhone plugged into USB. I don't have many other USB devices to try it with. Though, I did try it with just a USB DVD drive plugged in, and the interference did not occur. Once the iPhone was plugged back in, the interference resumed.
I need to be able to charge my work phone when at work, or I will miss important calls. Also, I need the mouse for better maneuverability since I use this computer to design circuit boards (CAD is impossible with a touchpad only).
Any suggestions, other than the usual driver updates/reinstall (I've done that several times already)? Any help is appreciated.
    -Tom

I noticed the same kind of interference that you're experiencing on my logitec wireless laser mouse. On top of that, I only experience the lag while my iPhone is plugged in AND while iTunes 10 is open (even though as of right now iTunes isn't even detecting my iPhone) I gave up trying to fix it myself.
All in all iTunes 10 is full of bugs <.<

  • Problems with HP Bluetooth Mouse x4000b with HP Elitebook laptop

Hi - I bought an HP EliteBook laptop earlier this year and a few months ago purchased a HP Bluetooth Mouse x4000b (after losing a different mouse during travel).  I've had terrible problems, almost since the beginning, with the mouse just not working.  Sometimes it works if I switch the batteries (flip the positions of the existing ones) but that tends to last only for a short time.  I replaced the originally batteries (which were supposedly good for 9 months) after just 3 months; and have just replaced the replacements and the problem is still unsolved.  I've checked the drivers; I can't find a power setting for Bluetooth on my HP laptop (someone with a Dell had that).  I've turned the mouse off, rebooted, turned the mouse on and reconnected; I've tried turning the mouse off and on again; I've tried to ensure that the batteries are in snugly with the plastic piece that sits over that batteries inserted as far back into the body of the mouse as possible (replicating the setup that I found when I first opened the mouse up to deal with this problem).  Any suggestions?  Or can anyone suggest a better mouse?

    Hello ayd135,
It is helpful if you would post the full model number of your Elitebook please.
Read through this HP Bluetooth manual to see how to use the HP Wireless assistant to help troubleshoot issues.
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01948661
Read through the info above first and try the steps.
If this still does not solve the problem, then it sounds like you have a faulty mouse considering the battery issue you described. In which case, the only fix would be to replace the mouse.
    Pundravac,
Even though you have an Elitebook also, your's could be a completely different issue. Did you install all the latest drivers for your old XP machine after installing Windows 7 on it?
Please post your question in a new thread and post the full model number of that laptop also.
    Thank you.

Whenever I try to install itunes on my windows 7 laptop, itunes takes over all my other programs. What can I do?

First I'd set up a System Restore point. Then try applying the LNK registry fix from the following document:

  • Laptop to Internet via iPhone over Bluetooth?

Has anyone experimented with getting a laptop on the Internet using an iPhone (connected to EDGE) via a Bluetooth link to the laptop?
    Thanks
    G3s, G4s, G5s & XServe   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   Non iPhone owner.

I think bluetooth should be upgraded to allow to use
iPhone to connect to the Internet with any laptop
(i.e. Powerbooks or MacBooks), this is the only
feature I am really missing with the iPhone! Do you
think will be any software upgrade or third party
software allowing to do that? Thanks for sharing.
Wireless access from the iPhone is $20 a month. AT&T's unlimited access for laptops is $80 a month, and for other devices (PDAs, Blackberry, etc; the TOS forbids you to use the PDA as a wireless modem for a laptop) is $50 a month. Thus, if the iPhone COULD be used as a modem it would undercut all of the other wireless data services.
Anyway, you wouldn't really want wireless laptop access over EDGE; believe me, I've tried it. If you really need wireless access get a 3G aircard with a separate data plan. It's really worth the price to have DSL speeds over the cellular network.

  • Bluetooth mouse issue. laptop wont pick it up

Hello everyone, i bouth a z8000 bluetooth mouse yesterday for my Envy dv7-7270ca, but the mouse will not show up anywhere when i have the computer looking for it. i need help or advice. windows 8.1 64bit

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Check your batteries, make sure they are charged and that you have removed the piece of plastic that was included that blocks their connection inside.
Insert the receiver into a USB port on the computer (not a hub), turn mouse on, then press the "Connect" button while the mouse is sitting right next to the receiver.
The lights on the mouse should change when the connection is made.

  • Apple bluetooth mouse slow, possibly even sluggish?

Ok, my bluetooth apple mouse has started to annoy me, it seems to be quite slow (i usually use a MS wirless mouse, but decided to try out the apple one again) basically its just quite slow and very hard to move it just a small distance.
    To fix it I have:
    cleaned the optical sensor
    changed batteries
moved it to fastest tracking speed
    re-set it
    used it on different surfaces
    updated bluetooth firmware
basically everything I can think of but no joy, it still seems slow, is there anything I can do or is it likely to need to be replaced?
Also my microsoft one is on full speed, and its just about right although i would like it a bit faster, is there anything I can do?
also what does the small + and - switch do its the one under the battery cover
    Cheers for the help guys

I am experiencing the same issue. I have done a good bit of troubleshooting to narrow down the problem, and i wanted to share those results with this thread in hopes that we can come to a conclusion and hopefully fix it.
First off, this issue seems to be isolated to bluetooth wireless devices and wireless network traffic. I have a Logitech G7 bluetooth wireless mouse, and my Macbook is the 5.1 version
I have seen other threads that are trying to blame their mouse lag on their monitor, and have said that plugging the monitor's power to a different wall jack fixed their problem. This made no difference in my situation. Even having my External monitor completely out of the loop, i still experienced issues with bluetooth mouse + traffic over the wireless causing significant hitching and lagging of the mouse during the period of the traffic (i.e. copying 500mb file over network).
When i have my bluetooth mouse hooked up and i am copying a large file over the wireless, it lags horribly. If i take my hand and use the trackpad on the laptop itself *during the same copy*, it works fine... it is ONLY the bluetooth mouse.
If i hook an ethernet cable directly to the laptop, all issues with lag are gone when i use the network.
    So to recap:
ethernet cable + bluetooth mouse + network traffic = no mouse lag
wireless ethernet + trackpad + network traffic = no mouse lag
wireless ethernet + bluetooth mouse + network traffic = HORRIBLE MOUSE LAG
ON TOP OF THAT.... the issue is EXACTLY the same in Vista as it is in OSX

  • Bluetooth Mouse and Thinkpad T520 not working together at all

    Hi All (first post),
    System:
    Lenovo T520
    Windows 7
    Microsoft Bluetooth mouse
Problem: Not working at all, or working only sporadically.
History: Laptop is a bit over year old (warranty ends in June 2015 IIRC). The sales clerk recommended a bluetooth mouse, so I bought a Microsoft Bluetooth 5000. After the initial pairing difficulties were resolved, they worked swimmingly for about a year. Then I started more and more frequently having to re-pair them (remove device, let Windows find it again, pair them,...). As the mouse had taken a bit of beating, I bought another one a week ago. Didn't really help. The first time I asked Win7 to find the device, it couldn't. The Bluetooth radio was on, and the mouse had a fresh set of batteries, and all the other braindead suggestions of Win7 were eliminated. The bluetooth radio was working, because it detected the neighbors daughter's smartphone through a concrete wall, but not the mouse. I kept pressing the button in the bottom of the mouse that presumably makes it broadcast "I'm here".
I moved to another room. This time detection and pairing up the device went fine. But after I had switched the laptop and the mouse off, and rebooted - nothing happened. I had to go through the remove/add device cycle again. Moving to a different room again. At first nothing. Then Windows finds the device, but gives the error code 0x800070015 (or something like that, not sure about the number of zeros), and fails to configure it.
Any idea what is going on? Why is this becoming progressively worse?
Elsewhere in this forum it was suggested that I should disallow windows to power off USB root hubs. I tried that but it had no effect.
    Regards,
    Jyrki

Sorry. The error code was 0x80004005. This is the code I get from Add Device ->, when I try to enter 0000 as the paring code (suggested by the mouse start guide. If I try to pari them without a code, Control Panel first indicates that the piece of Hardware was added ok, but it before I get any use out of the mouse, the freshly added pic of the mouse disappears. The red/green light on the mouse never stops blinking.

    Another update (more symptoms):
Today the computer, while in use, has began to randomly turn off (as if it's going to sleep) when connected to my Cinema display.  When I unhook everything, pull it out from the desk and open it the screen comes on and everything else is locked up.  The only way to make the computer functional again is to reboot it at which time you receive a message that the computer was shutdown because of a problem.  The bluetooth issue described above has happened twice today already and this current issue has now happened four times.
Called AppleCare again and spoke to a senior advisor and first she tried to attribute it to a hardware issue and setup an repair.  During the process of setting up the repair, she said it is now a software issue and had me verify the hard disk and repair it.  She then asked me to create a new partition and reload Mavericks onto it to see if I could reproduce the issue but this was going to take upwards of three hours.
Anyone else experiencing anything in this ballpark?
