Laptop to sleep while charging ipod?

So, is it possible for the ipod to charge while the Macbook pro is sleeping? I tried this once, but then my whole computer froze when I woke it up.
Has anyone been able to do this successfully?

No, it will not charge while your laptop is sleeping, and may actually deplete the battery on the iPod. Either turn off sleep mode or buy a wall charger. This is a limitation of the USB spec.

So after the last update i did regarding the hasback virus; the update that apple issued few days ago(i think it was yesterday). I updated today, my mac is not sleeping while charging!

Do I have faulty hardware?
Some 15-inch PowerBooks with 1.5 and 1.67ghz processors do have a logic board problem but it usually doesn't cause the optical drive to go walkabout while asleep. The known issue is that one RAM slot goes bad, reducing your RAM available to one-half. It's a matter of opening the RAM door and seeing what is physically installed and then comparing that to what "About ths Mac" says for installed RAM.

Had you not reinstalled the OS, I would say the previous owner had some FAX software installed or some form of third party backup software that was looking for a no-longer-attached device.
If any USB devices (printers, keyboads, mice, external drives) are connected, pull them as see if the condition changes.

Safe to listen to music while charging Ipod mini?

I been trying to find information (google and this forum) about this but had no luck.
I was wondering if it's safe to listen to music while you are charging the Ipod?
The equipment that I have is a 2nd Gen Ipod mini. I also use the USB Power adapter (good thing to have).

Thanks for you reply. I have been reading a lot that you can do to save the IPod's battery life and how to take care of it but I could not find anything related to use it while it's been charged.
It also looks like there are accessories, like speakers and car lighter adapters that allows you to use your IPod while is being charged.
In the mean time, I'll use my trusty AC Adapter and use my IPod while is charging.

Electric shock while charging IPod Nano 3rd Gen

Hello.
I bought a new IPod Nano 3rd Generation (4 gigabytes) and I noticed that, if I touch it while it's connected to my PC, it gives me an electrical shock. It's not a hard shock, but you can feel your finger shake and your arm weakens (it's kinda funny. xD)
To experience this, you mustn't have shoes, obviously.
I'd like to know if this is natural or if I should change it for a new one.
I believe it's something bad because the IPod runs out of battery quickly, but I play Solitaire a lot, so I don't know if it's my fault. :s

BTW this same problem came up back in August and then I suggested to the poster that a bad line cord might be the issue. Turns out that is exactly what it was...

Sorry, but if you see the "connect to iTunes" screen on your phone, the only option is to restore, backing up the phone is not possible at this point, even importing the photos might not work anymore.

Then put a SIM in. You cannot activate an iPhone without a compatible Sim.
If your iPhone was hacked/jailbroken the update restore the lock.

no buddy, when my i pod touch 4 is off i press its power button then it display a black screen in which there is an empty battery with red marking in side an,,

Yes, I do this all the time.
You need a USB power adapter that connects an AC outlet to your USB cable and then to your iPod.
You can get one from Apple here:

No harm is done. There is enough power from the adapter to run the laptop and charge the battery. There is hardware and software in place which prevents any problems. The laptop will not take power from the battery while the AC adapter is plugged in.

Hi, I have an ipod mini that is frozen. I was charging it on a laptop w/out any apple ipod software installed, (does that make a difference?). When I woke up, it looked frozen and non responsive. I then hooked it up to my software installed computer, and it was not recognized. Also the plug does not disconnect from the unit. Help. Paula

Let's clear up a misunderstanding here first of all.
The iPod software is not "installed" on a computer, it's installed on the iPod. See my previous post on how to install the software to the iPod. Sure, the iPod updater is installed to the computer, but this is only a program that installs the software to the iPod.
You can connect an iPod that has the software installed on it to any computer, the only thing that computer would need to work correctly with the iPod is to have iTunes installed on it.
Have you tried resetting the iPod? It may take several attempts.
