Touch pad and keyboard not working!

Just the other day while my computer was starting up i took a tissue and started to clean it. Then the password screen popped up. I typed in the password and started to browse the web. After about 1 minute, my touch pad and keyboard stopped working! I tried to restart the computer and it did nothing. I then restored the computer to this morning ( the update my computer did while it was turning on also the time i was cleaning it. ) and it still did nothin. Please help with this problem, right now im using a USB mouse and a on screen keyboard!

Yes I installed the right drivers before trying to dual-boot with Linux. The issue was there from the beginning. But the issue appears only after 1 or 2 hours of use. It was mandatory for me to install Linux, for my studies. So I hope it doesn't break the warranty, because it would be unfair for people who need to do what I did.
The problem is that I am right now in Finland, but I am French and I bought my netbook when I was in France. So if I send it back to HP France, it will take weeks and weeks to get it back here, and shipping cost will be really expensive, and I will be without computer during several weeks, which is impossible for me as I need it for my studies. That is why I want to go to HP Finland and ask them. I know I could call them but the last timeI called HP France, I waited for hours and didn't get any answer on the phone.

It may well be a driver issue but considering the loading: Xorg trying to load different drivers is somewhat normal. @cafe you can see that these are autoconfigured by X above the loading in the log:

My Macbok Air 2011, I brought in Aug. 2011 on Apple Store, was broken. After checking by apple engineer, touch pad and keyboard is not working.
From 9/17 to date, my computer is still repairing and I cannot use it.
I think apple should compensate this and extend my warranty...........
After this, I think apple already lose the credit for me. If I can return for this goods, I would like to return my AIR and get my money back.
The Macbook air waste my time and let me very very unhappy now.

Dell Inspiron 5547 laptop touch pad issue

I have Dell inspiron 5547 laptop. I have touch pad issue. Touch pad is looks it's working but It's not working properly. I can't click on file or any where else. I call dell for support they first uninstall all drivers for Touch pad and re install it. After that it works goods for 2-3 days and once again problem is same.
After that I call once again dell support and they send technician to my house to change touch pad after he change, in few days problem is same.
After that I send my laptop to support center and after getting system back I have same issue.
so I call once more times and they send technician to change hard drive with inbuilt OS. After that In just 2 days I have same problem. Now I request dell to replace my system and I am waiting for their approval But If any One have Any solution then please Reply me

My FF was updated automatically. I'm unable to scroll down the page using the laptop touch pad scroll option.
It was working fine on FF before upgrade and after upgrade on IE browser. But, in FF 9 it is not working. Any help is appreciated.

Touch pad and mouse

My Microsoft wireless mouse and my laptop touch pad are not working properly. Example: when I click a link in an email, I normally would left click & the link would open. Now, with both devices, I must right click the link & choose the open command, which isn't that big of a deal but some links won't open with any kind of click. It would correct itself if I did a system restore, but restore doesn't work anymore because my computer had a vius. I have uninstalled & reinstalled, drives are up to date. I have checked the settings for both, normal right hand set up. Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly apprecciated.

I grasp that you mouse and TouchPad are not functioning correctly as you have no left click on either. You have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and checking the settings but no change.
You did state you are unable to do a recovery as you had a virus and is no longer available.
I would check again for viruses and malware just to be sure.
Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Although this is not a recommendation many people have used Malwarebytes for removal of unwanted software with much success.
Windows 8 has a new option which does reinstall your Windows and should leave your personal information.
HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8)
Before doing a refresh, I suggest you do a backup just to be on the safe side.
If the issue remains, I would do a recovery back to factory.

If you did not previously backup your data, you will notice an opportunity to do just that during the backup.

After updating to Firefox 7, i've lost scrolling feature on my laptop touch pad

After I updated to Firefox 7, the scrolling feature on the laptop touch pad would not work. My OS is Windows 7. I also updated my other laptop and the same thing happened. That one has Windows Vista as it's OS

Try to modify the pref ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the scroll pad work.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

To return the functionality back to your touchpad, I recommend following the steps in this document on Using and Configuring the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista). This should help prevent your touchpad from locking up in the future.

New Multitouch touch pad and old t500

Just saw the new multitouch new T series touch pad and was wondering if it could be integrated to the older t500. Would be nice to have the ability on my T series

Sorry, the newer panels aren't backward compatable with the current generation of machines.
You could simply buy a new Thinkpad !!

Ideapad S400 left touch pad and clicker not working

I've had this device for less than a year now, and all of a sudden the left touch pad and clicker are not properly working. If i try to click on something sometimes it doesnt work. I've tried about anything I can think of to see if it would help and so far nothing is working. Now let me mention that it doesnt happen all the time sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.

My MacBook's built in touch pad and keyboard is not working.

Am using a MacBook. It was working perfectly before i plug in a Non Apple USB standard keyboard
into it. when i did that,an error occurred like "please pressing the just after the Right Shift Key Button"
but there was not such kind of button on that keyboard.so i pressed the Shift key instead.
it works that time,but after some time i discovered that,my build in track pad and build in keyboard
stop responding permanently. Now i have to use my MacBook using both USB mouse and keyboard.
Is there any way to fix it?? If there is,would someone please help me,PLEASE!!!!

I don't have an answer, but have suddenly developed a similar problem. Early today we got a new Verizon FIOS router to replace an older one. Once the tech fired the thing up and we got everything in the house logged into it, I noticed that my iPhone 4S wifi speed was mighty low. Using the Speed Test app, I was getting a wavering average of between 4 and 7 Mbps. Even on the old router I was usually getting 20-30 Mbps. I checked all the other devices in my house and noted all were getting at least 25-35 Mbps--including my wife's iPhone 4S, my kids iPod 5, and our iPad 2. The wired Windows desktop gets more than 60 Mbps and the wireless laptop gets more than 40. I tried all the tricks on my iPhone--restarting, forgetting the network and the resetting it, and even resetting all of the network settings. Nothing gets me any faster, yet my wife's iPhone 4s blazes away at 25-35+. I even went into the router and played with disabling WMM and switching (briefly) to b/g mode. No luck. Finally, I decided to take out the new router and put back the old one--the verizon tech was nice enough to leave the old one with me--but my speed did not increase one iota. I'm stumped. It worked fine two days ago, and all of our other Apple devices (including an identical iPhone 4S) are fine and run at super speeds. What happened to my phone?

Yoga 2 Keyboard not working, but touch pad and touch screen fine

I've lost the use of my keyboard, but not the touch pad. Restarting and converting to table mode and back doesn't correct the issue. Thoughts? I'm not sur where to go from here. Could the keyboard be physically dead?

You should test the keyboard in the BIOS menu and see whether it works.
1) Press on the recovery button (next to the power button, you may need a small screwdriver).

2) Then there is an option menu for entering recovery, bios, etc.

Use your keyboard and see whether it works in that option menu. If it doesn't work then it is a faulty keyboard.

Keyboard, Touch pad and battery are not working.

I cannot turn on my Macbook (10.4.11) without the power adapter connected. The keyboard does not work nor does the touch pad. I've searched the forums for anyone else with this problem, there are similar instances but mostly related to Leopard. I'm having to use an external keyboard and mouse to continue working. Looking for fixes.

The left click will not work to highlight text, copy, paste.   The tap and rt click, window pull down, work fine.
Funny... the story matches all of you.   Wanted to remove/install driver, I suggested we look for issues first or ck the dates of drivers.   Seemed to hose my EXPLORER window and speed.   Then the bios change and I said should we ck the dates/Revs and we moved forward.   No reading of fix, or this has been issue and I asked many times is this a issue.   I also saw this on the store demo unit when I was cking them out. NO REPLY.... wish I looked here first and pushed to talk to tech/svc manager.
Phone help tried to take over my computer and link/web would not work it failed!!
Tech also wanted me to do system restore and I declined.   I replied I have not loaded anything yet, only updated Norton and did a little web searching, windows update, HP update.   I also looked at the pad and button settings ... found nothing I missed.   I called them incase there was odd box/set I missed.   I hate being lied to, they know from I am reading here... two threads so far and 2-3 people on each.    I did not want to restor.... nothing is changed.... do not want to exersise the Hard Drive.   Asked her to research problem and find the fix... rather than just keep changing stuff.   The bios was flashed for the same bios rev.
While doing this work with tech.... the pointer went to top and not moved from top right.   The parts of screen starting to flash, the curser would lock, IExplorer got very slow... to 30 sec to load the internet page vs 2 sec
I also just found..... you can switch the fuctions of rt/left button and still copy paste.   But the left button will not pull down the pull down windows.   What a mess!
You can go to system information and print of your currrent list of soft and hard.   That will tell you what is up todate and what is not.

G570 laptop touch pad

I don't know if I'm in the right place. What do they mean by' think' and' idea' topics?
Anyway, I've had problems with my touch pad since I got my laptop. I've tried installing new drivers several times. Each time it works for awhile then the same problems return.
For example, as I am typing this even though I'm staying away from the touchpad, the 'right click' menu keeps opening. but there are many other weird things happening.
The last time I installed the new driver, my laptop completely froze up and I had turn my laptop off and it did not fix anything. in fact it seems like my keyboard is being weird too.
This is getting very old. Isn't there a permanent fix for this problem?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
If you're navigating around and suddenly you get a right click context menu suddenly pops-up without doing a physical right click, try to do the following:
1. Uninstall the Synaptics / Elantech touchpad driver under Start > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program and restart the PC (this will use the built-in Microsoft Touchpad Driver)
2. After the reboot, open Device Manager (click Start > type Device Manager) and under Mice and Other Pointing Devices, make sure it's not set to Lenovo Pointing Device, otherwise uninstall the driver and reboot.
If the issue persists after using the microsoft touchpad driver, then the Touchpad / Touchpad Board and/or Touchpad cable needs to be replaced as there's a short between the said parts and you need to contact Lenovo for service. Support phone list here.
