Laptop unable to startup when plugged in
Hi, I have a laptop operating on Vista that won't startup properly when plugged in to power but will start up when operating on batteries. Once the computer has booted up and windows completes its startup I can plug it in and there doesn't seem to be any other problems but it is very annoying. Has anyone experienced this before?
No replies- can I be a bit more specific- When I say it doesn't start up properly, I mean that it hangs on the bios start screen and won't go any further. Then I have to close down, wait for the battery to charge, start up again and let "windows" go through the diagnostic crap for 10 minutes then restart it again only on batteries. After the machine has started, ...completely loading "windows" I can plug in the power cord and operate normally. Any ideas??

I purchased HP Pavilion dv6-3049TX from, Punjab India through authorised HP world outlet last week only .This laptop is giving mild to strong shocks when power adapter is plugged in. The shock produces real sensation and sometimes unbearable too.. This defect is very serious in nature . I am using the 4th laptop of the company never faced such problem.( last was 1414TX). Definitely there is some technical fault and it is not expected from such a reputed multinational company.
What all my friends suggest to do?
Complaint already registered with HP and still pending.
Improper earthing in home is being assigned reason for this.
If this is the reason for shocks from this laptop dont you think company should Boldly paste label on this laptop model that " ONLY PERSONS WHO HAVE PROPER EARTHING IN THEIR HOME AND WHERE EVER THEY WANT TO TAKE THIS LAPTOP FOR WORK IN THE WORLD SHOULD HAVE PROPER EARTHING should purchase OTHERWISE READY FOR SHOCK OR DONT PURCHASE"
I feel if this the techanical fault HP should recall all this models and refund money with compensation. Please advice me ? Is any body elese facing problem. Four units of same model tested at 3 different locations . All were producing vibrations and shocks and tester( Testpin) clear showing neon lamp lighting quite brightly( I wish i can paste pics here . Of course I can mail to any one who pvtly msg me their email). The service centre deliberately delaying. Why don't HP not accepting and refund money?
As already submitted that laptop notebook not a desktop it is a mobile unit can be taken any where in India or in world. Will HP engineers accompany the shocking notebooks ? and check earth/ grounding every where where ever the poor unlucky owner of this laptop will go.
I have gone through all electronic and hard printed Brochure of this laptop and couldn't find the warning or information that " This laptop needs proper grounding and earthing at all places where you want to use this laptop"
I appeal all of you to please provide solution to me as well to HP what to do?

I cannot access the iTunes store from any of my computers. When I updated to v. 10.7 it made my laptop unable to access just like with my two desktops. I have installed and uninstalled numerous times.
Nothing happens. iTunes just hangs up every time, saying "Accessing iTunes Store." It does that for a very, very long time, then nothing. Here is what happens when I run diagnostics.

Hi guys.Got a problem with my iPhone 5. I bought it in a shop 4 month ago. After I got a visitor with iOS 7 on his phone he would like to charge his phone with my Laptop and cable.But when he plugged it in it showed a message wich says: " This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this phone".
How is this possible? I then phoned the shop and told them my problem. When I gave them the details I also found out that the imei No. in the iPhone is the same as on the original box. But the the Serial numbers are different. I already try the support centre but I’m over the 90 days.And there is no Apple Store in Namibia. I hope someone can help me here. Old laptop died, got latest itunes on new laptop and recovered all music from external hard drive but ipad2 not being recognised as a device when plugged in so can't sync? Do i reset my ipad2?!!!! Its only taken 7 months to get to this point.

Sony Smartwatch 2 - device not detected when plugging into laptop
Hi, When plugging my smartwatch 2 into my laptop I get that the USB device cannot be detected / no driver error and PC companion doesn't recognise it too. I know it's not a laptop issue as I connect my Xperia Z tablet and Z1 phone to it fine. Any help would be much appreciated. Gavin

Go to Solution.The SW2 isn't a device that will be detected as an external device being connected - Updates are done via an app update and apps are done via the phone - So you can't transfer files to it merely charge it via your Laptop

Could be a poor ground. Try plugging the monitor directly into the wall (no power strip) and see what happens.

Touch Screen not working when plugged in via usb to laptop
I am hoping someone can help me figure out what to do because I have run out of ideas... When I plug the phone into my laptop via the USB cable provided with the phone (2006 Dell 1710 Inspiron, Windows Vista) the touch screen does not work. The phone is functioning but I just can't use the touch screen to do anything, more specifically, I want to connect as a mass storage device so I can transfer files, music, pictures, etc.
I have downloaded the drives, installed and reinstalled the drivers, soft rest, used all 5 USB ports on the laptop and made sure the ports were up to date for drivers and software on the laptop. Still the screen won't work when plugged in.
My next step was to try it on a different computer so I used an HP desktop running Windows 7. Downloaded the drivers when prompted and low and behold the screen worked just fine when plugged in. It also works when plugged into my computer at work.
Considering the phone works fine on another computer I am guessing it might be the USB ports on my laptop or the software associated with it.
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!I would definitely agree with you, Funkytown. If we know the phone works properly with two other computers and you've run through all the troubleshooting (awesome job!), then we can determine there is something with the computer that is causing the issue.

I can't turn on my MacBook Air despite trying to hold down the power button and using the SMC method. BTW my battery charger lights up to a green when plugged into the laptop.

Apple 10.7 lion - macbook does not turn off when plugged in. I put the laptop on "sleep" or close the screen and the computer stays on and stays hot! Spilled water on Laptop- it works only when power cord NOT plugged in.
HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop I spilled plenty of water on the right side where the power cord is. I removed that and took the battery out. (12 cell i think) Dried out the laptop for about a day or so. The laptop is fine except when I'm trying to charge while ON, it automatically turns OFF. So, what gives? How much money do I have to pour into it to fix it?
Thanks!Water and electricity do not mix (obviously ). When you are plugging in the adapter into your computer, there may be a short somewhere where the water was.
Maybe let it dry out some more, otherwise, I would take it to a local repair shop to look at it (if you're out of warrnty). -

Hi There,
We have a wide number of Toshiba Dynadock u3.0's working with a number of Sony Vaio Laptops. In the main they have worked pretty well, and have improved over time as new releases have come out.
At the moment we are rolling out the new Sony Vaio Pro laptops, and Dynadock is almost essential for users because the Vaio Pro's do not have an ethernet adapter. We are also downgrading them to Windows 7 from Windows 8 as we are not ready for Windows 8 on a large rollout, and holding off till 8.1 goes live.
We have had a couple of blue screen of deaths on 2 Vaio Pro's when plugging into the Dynadock. Both have the latest dynadock drivers, and we have obtained the memory dump for the machines. Before they were plugged in, they were on the WLAN in the office.
The other half a dozen devices we have in use at the moment have not yet reported this issue, and the BSOD has appeared on these two devices only once each, but I was asked to report this issue on these forums to just confirm there is no obvious issue with the Dynadocks.
In the meantime we have 3 other Vaio pros which are being tested and have not yet experinced the same issue.

Turning on the laptop when plugged into the dynadock, and he gets a BSOD. I've pasted the bugcheck in below. We are in the process of uninstalling and reinstalling all the drivers, and replacing his dynadock with a known good one to determine if the issue resides with the laptop or not.
