Laptop video cards

been looking online for awhile and was wondering if bestbuy sold video cards for laptops?

No need to argue and tell me that most, some, or no laptops come with an upgradable video, I'm not worried about most other laptops. Laptops that come from a factory are built to make the factory money. If you cant upgrade it then you have to buy a new one. I bought the components for mine, bought the case, OS, software, hardware, addware, spyware, everything and assembled/set-up. All I wanted to know is if this store carried the cards, not get in a debate about whether my laptop was upgradable. I have already purchased a card elsewhere so thank you and please no more replies.
If you want to tell yourself that the Cyberpower notebook you ordered was "built" by you, go right ahead. We'll all just laugh at you and call you a loser. But I know for a fact you don't have the skills to build your own notebook. If you did, you wouldn't have asked the question here because anyone who is knowledgeable enough to have done what you claim would have known better in the first place.

  • Cs5 compatible laptop video cards with hardware acceleration

Is there a list or does anyone know of laptops with compatible video cards for cs5 hardware acceleration? This would be for a windows 7 64bit system.'
    Thanks!

its not so much a space issue as a power issue, but space is a concern too. I suppose I was looking for a list of laptop compatible cs5 cards. I know that there are cards out there that are and it would be wonderful if adobe compiled a list like they have for standard video cards. And yes you are right, a lot of the video cards listed on that page also have mobile counterparts but are not always compatible since they use different drivers.
Does anyone have laptop experience with getting full hardware acceleration support?
    Thanks.

The intel driver requires KMS starting with 2.10. So you're either wrong or all those people are still using 2.9

The i915 kernel module is used for all newer intel cards, including your 3100, so following those instructions should lead you to success.

  • How or Can I upgrade my laptop's video card?

is it possible? First of all I don't know if my laptop video card is intergrated, i heard if it is, you cant upgrade...here are my specs for my Toshiba Satelite L675D
    AMD Phenom™ II dual-core processor N640*
    4GB DDR3 memory
500GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics
    Windows 7
    Processor Platform VISION Premium
    Video Memory256-1917MB (dynamically allocated shared)
thank you..and if it is upgradable..can you please tell me a good graphics card that can probably run Starcraft 2 on high maybe ultra? something i can buy from best buy or wal mart, not online...thanks

Graphics Memory* 128MB-1759MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory
But in my specs it says that i have one free PCI-E slot.  I have no idea how to access it nor do i have any intention. (I'm very un-tech savy )  Anyway, is there anyway i could have someone that knows there way around a computer open it up and see if its possible to add another graphics card?  Or would i be better off just getting a High-Def monitor (this is an option)?
See above - if you have a laptop, then it is almost guaranteed that you cannot upgrade the graphics.  It is 100% guaranteed in the case of laptops with Intel integrated graphics, which you have.
I have no idea why a laptop would advertise a PCI-e slot - Perhaps it has a Mini-PCIe slot that a mobile broadband card can be installed into?  Or do you mean the ExpressCard expansion slot?
If you don't have a laptop and instead have a desktop, you probably should have posted a new thread rather than to a laptop thread to avoid confusion.

I'M PLANNING TO UPGRADE MY LAPTOP SINCE MANY SOFTWARE GAMES REQUIRES HIGHER VIDEO CARD. IS IT POSSIBLE TO UPGRADE MY VIDEO CARD? I'M USING HP PAVILION DV4-1125NR.

Not possible Unfortunately...all cards nowadays are built in only
It was possible in the old days
but laptop manufacturers found it more "profitable" to make it not, this way the user will have to buy a new laptop every few years.
there are some third party solutions but they aren't effective really

  • Question about Video Cards on Laptops

Hi everyone, and sorry if I post this in the wrong area. I own a few computers, some are consider ancient and others are somewhat old but can run Windows XP just fine. I have a question about the computers in the stores today.
I am looking to invest in a new laptop, possibly a desktop in the near future depending on my budget. The question I have about video cards today is that, I enjoy a good MMO game now and then, I don't expect to play heavy intensive games, just maybe some more advance games. I notice that for one game that I want to play, it requires a video card to have (Shadow Rendering, Vertex and Pixle Shaders). Do the computers today have those as standard for thier video card? Or do I have to invest in a little bit more expensive laptop/desktop. I am willing to invest money for some more RAM, if I need to improve its preformance. The reason I ask is because I have a 4 year old Laptop with a broken keyboard, and I was thinking about just replacing the laptop with a newer one. it has some pretty good specs and runs everything fine, but it can not play certain games because of those missing video requirements. (Current laptop incase someone is curious: 1.5Ghz Celeron M, 1GB memory 64MB video (Shared) ) Thanks to anyone who has the answer to this question. (P.S sorry if everything is scrunched together. for some reason the formatting is wierd on Opera web browser

Graphics cards have all those standard today... or at least they should unless you get a really cheap Graphics card. The kind of graphics card and processor and other specs of the computer you want to get should depend on what you want to do with it. It also depends on the kind of games you want to play. If you're playing FPS [first person shooter] then you need a really good graphics card and processor. If you're playing something like Diablo 2 or something that's on the lower end of graphics then you just need decent specs. Graphics cards, I suggest something with aGeForce Nividia card... as of today, they are in the 9 series for high-end cards I believe. For processors... get something like Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 or T9600 or the Core 2 Quatros or Extremes. Extremes are intended for hardcore gaming and would be more expensive. For RAM you should have at least 2GB... you can always upgrade that later.
    For laptops my suggestions are:
    $3k+ get a customized alienware
$2-3 get a customized dell xps, or macbook pro [although if you're gaming i would suggest you dual boot with windows xp or vista]
$1-2k get a cheaper customized dell, or sony vaio
under $1k... well I don't know what to say... you can't really get a nice gaming computer for under that price.
I personally DO NOT like HP computers at all because they are so quirky and have so many problems and break down easily.

  • Dv2000 Laptop Screen go's black .. Video Card?

    Hi
I have a HP Pavilion DV2000 laptop with Vista, and the screen stays black when it goe's into sleep mode. I got it to work when I powered off the laptop and hooked an external monitor to it, then powered it back on.. It worked for awhile until I shut the lid, and it went back into sleep mode.
Now, even when I hook an external monitor to it, the screen is still black.
After reading bookoos of threads, forums, websites and trying tricks, resetting battery, holding pwr button..etc I can only find solutions that tell me that its the integrated video card, and that the motherboard needs to be replaced. BestBuy also gave this advice.
Is there any alternative route here than spending $200+ dollars on a motherboard... and even if I did purchase another motherboard, How would I know that Motherboard is not defective also?
Any advice is welcomed.. I'm at wits end on this!

here a you tube video, its exactly the same mobo as yours.
If the reflow wont fix it, yes you can sell it as parts or just store it somewhere as a "treasure" from Nvidia and HP
    Pavilion DV2922TX, XP-SP3 32bit, Intel T5750 2.0Ghz, Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS with 128MB, 4GB 667 DDR2, 250GB HDD

  • Can laptops get video cards upgraded?

Alot of my friends are telling me laptops have un-upgradable video cards. Is this true?

    General rule of thumb:
If it has Intel GMA integrated graphics, it is definitively not upgradable.
If it has NVidia or ATI discrete graphics, it may be upgradable, but this is getting rarer and rarer.  Even if it is, it is almost always not economically feasible.
As an example, the Dell Inspiron 8000 series (8000, 8100, and 8200) all had interchangeable video cards.  It was actually economically viable to take the GeForce 4 MX designed for an I8200 and put it into the original GeForce 2-based I8000.  However, the I8200 was last made back in 2002 or so.  Newer Dells don't have the interchangeability that older ones had.

  • Xorg configuration over a laptop with iintel video card

    Hi to everybody!!!
I'm a newbie in using archlinux. I decided to use it after my curiosity in learning more about this OS!
I've installed archlinux 0.7.2 in base version and then I upgraded everything.
I've installed KDE, but in configuring my xorg.conf file, I'm having lots of problem.
I've got a notebook, an acer travelmate 611TXV with embedded intel video card (82815 CGC). Typing
    lshwd | less
    , the monitor shows:
VGA compatible controller: Intel Coorp. |82815 CGC [Chipset Graphics Controller] (vesa)
I should consider vesa driver or not?
When I set xorg.conf (generate with
    hwd -xa
command, I create e new device to describe my video card, because there wasn't, like this:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Card0"
    Driver "vesa"
    VendorName "All"
    BoardName "All"
    EndSection
    typing
    startx
kde starts, but it uses a too low video resolution. It should use 1280x768, the lcd is 14.1"
I can't set the right one! how to?
what I have to do with that "Modeline...
that are reater my lcd capabilities? can I delete them?
Over win XP the lcd woks fine at 1280x768 with 60Hz.
Is there someone to help me? Please

  • Ray Traced 3d and MY video card overheats

    Hello,
First off, I am not trying to get support to fix this, although some insight what might be going on would be great if someone has an idea.  I am using a GTX 480 with After Effects.  Yes, I realize this is not a supported GPU but it does work, in my case, not the best.
THE ISSUE:  I created a motion graphic that was basically 3 words and some shadows and reflections. I used the ray trace 3d render option, and when I was close to being done, I tried to render it.  Unfortunately the video card temps skyrocketed from 70-80 to over 100 degrees celsius before rendering 2 seconds of the clip.
Is this something anyone else using a similar video card has experienced?  I just want to see if anyone else has this issue using a GTX 480. Again I understand its not supported by Adobe, but this is what forums are for, to find others that may have had same issue.
I can still render, but it involves me pushing the card to the limit, pausing, and then restarting after the card has cooled down.  I do have the most recent drivers from Nvidia, v 306.23.  The ambient temps in my house are around 70 degrees Farenhiet, and my card idles at around 45-50degrees celcius.  I have 24 gigs of ram and a i7 920. just for comparison sake, not sure if this is needed.
It might be an air flow problem too.  I plan on getting a new pc when the new i7's come out next year, but this is putting a hamper on my work now. I am only a hobbyist/part time freelance at the moment.
    Thanks for any input.

I believe standard maintenance for air cooled electronic equipment that has no air filtration system built in should be a monthly light cleaning and a semi annual thorough cleaning. One of the facilities that I occasionally work for on a freelance basis only cleans their machines when they fail. Something has failed on almost a third of my visits.
The last PC I built I put a filter in the air inlets. There's all kinds of materials you can get that do a good job of catching most of the lint without fouling up the air flow.
I have my laptops cleaned at least semi annually but I vacuum out the air vents twice a month with a low power device that doesn't spin up the internal fans. You've got to be careful that you don't damage the equipment by over revving rotating parts with too much air pressure.
If I were to set up an office workspace I'd put an electrostatic air cleaner in the office to minimize dust. One equipment failure on a project with a deadline would pay for a really high end filtration system. I run electrostatic air filtration in my home instead of the paper air filters on the HVAC system. It's amazing how little dust and lint we get in the house.

  • High Temp. AMD Video Card

Hello,i bought my Lenovo B50-70 Laptop at 3/1/2015 (at the begin of the new year)its Spec: Intel Core i7 4510U 2GHz4 GB Ram500 GB HDD ( Toshiba)Video Card:Intel HD Graphics ( i think that it is Intel HD 4400)AMD Radeon R5 M230 i installed the newest driver for the AMD  graphics card from the web site of AMD 15.5 (Beta)it showed up that my card is M8500 and its wrong but no problem with itYesterday i was opening PES 13 it told me that my Laptop doesn't meet the minimum requirement (GPU:VRAM 128)i opened the settings of it and it told me that the Card is just 32 MB !!!and the game can't runi checked its Temp. from the Speecy Program it showed up that my Laptop's graphics card (AMD) is 511 !!! i want a solution for it please thanks and sorry for the too much writing  Screen Shots:

The temperature sensor is obviously wrong I found mine reads that too when the amd graphics are not active. as for the ram that is dynamicly assigned to either the intel or amd graphics you will need to make sure your pro soccer is set to max performance in the switching graphics setting so it uses the amd gpu... the ram should get assigned to it when it is active...

  • S540: Video card got warm, case bent

I was working on a WebGL application, then my laptop (I assume it's the video card) got pretty warm. Temperature monitor said it got about 75 degrees Celsius, which should be fine.
    NOT!
My laptop bent... the right front corner (with the little ThinkPad logo and the red light) comes up 3-4 mm now.
This isn't the first issue with my ThinkPad, the score after less than half a year:
    motherboard broke down, got replaced
    touchpad broke down, got replaced
battery (connection) broke, laptop got replaced
    casing bent... now what?
After half a year I've been able two use my ThinkPad for just a few months, for the rest it's been in the repair center or at DHL/UPS.

well, i'm cannot give you a direct answer since you're description of your scenario is unclear.
    1) you have both video cards installed? and you flashed bios to which card? if you AGP card is dead, and are using the PCI, are you sure you flashed the AGP and not the PCI?
    2) how old is your AGP card? if it is under 1 year it is stil under warrenty, RMA to MSI. search the MSI site for RMA instruction or your card should have instructions on RMA'ing the card. emailing them will do nothing.
