Laptop windows XP; printer HP envy 100; using wireless network; as from today no printing possible;

did not changed anything; unexpected, no printing anymore possible. Everything is placed in waiting que. Status of printer=error.
I have used problem solving program, but this has nothing solved.

This really worked!
Note to others: almost every imaginable HP printer is listed under HPIJS. I highly recommend the procedures highlighted in this note.

Have a 802.11n time capsule, the range of the wireless network has shrunk down to nothing over last few days. Used to be able to use wireless network anywhere in house, but now can only use in my office. Will not connect to iphones, ipad, itouch, or notebook. Worked fine last week, but over weekend just started having issues.

It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference that has appeared recently that is preventing your Time Capsule (TC) from providing a clean RF signal.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like iStumbler, or AirRadar to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible. Look for other Wi-Fis that may be operating nearby. Note those with the strongest signals and which channels they are operating on ... then change the channel used by the TC to be at least 3-5 channels away.

  • Setting the shared templates location by Deploying Office 365 Midsized Business "using a network share" from a on-premise location

I found the question "Deploy Office 365 pro plus using a network share or from a on-premise locaiton" the most useful of the resources
on MS yet - but I am having difficulties getting the files to download for a local deployment.
The root of the issue, that I cannot find anywhere, is how do I set the shared templates location for users in the organization.  First I thought a GPO, but I cannot find that setting in the GPO in MS.
Then I thought modifying the REG- but it is in a binary key which could include other information I may not want modified(Or does it matter?)
Then I looked for ways to download the deployment but launching from an elevated prompt as IT (Domain level) returns a useless error to paraphrase- 'sorry MSOffice didn't install- do you have enough disk space'.
I have downloaded the GPO objects, but not installed them, likely I will need those later though.
Just want to path all the users to a central repository of office/excel/access/outlook templates in addition to their local templates. Concise help in steps or sites that have solved the issue are Greatly appreciated : )

    Hi,
you can use the GPO ADMX templates to configure the "Workgroup templates path".
This actually configures a registry setting named: "sharedtemplates".
    The registry value/type/data is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\15.0\common\general
    Name: sharedtemplates
    Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ (Expandable String Value)
    Data: <UNC path to folder>
From the GPO reference workbook/sheet, for Office:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4976.selected-content-relating-to-group-policy-administrative-templates-adm-and-admx.aspx
    Filename: office15.admx
    Scope: User
    Path: Microsoft Office 2013\Shared paths
Policy Setting Name: Workgroup templates path
Supported on: At least Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7
    Category: Shared paths
Explain Text: Specifies the location of workgroup templates.
    Registry Key: HKCU\software\policies\microsoft\office\15.0\common\general!sharedtemplates
Note: it is supported to populate this setting, with a UNC path, but not with a web path.
    e.g.: \\server01\shared\templates <this is valid>
    e.g.: http://server01/shared/templates <this is not valid>
This constraint (for web URIs) can be difficult to work around. If you are using SharePoint, and think WebDAV might work, it doesn't seem to work for us :(
Of course, if you have SharePoint, there are much better ways to handle document templates, but, our users are familiar with this File -> New -> from template type of method...
It can also be set manually by a user:

  • My PC (Windows) can't see my Time Capsule wireless Network

I just installed a wireless network with a Time Capsule and it's working fine for the three Macs and the printer in the household.  However, I still need to have access to the wireless network for one PC running Windows.  Problem is the PC doesn't "see" the Time Capsule Network.  What am I missing and how can I set up the PC on the wireless network?

Try downloading AirPort Utility for Windows here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1391

  • Can I do this: Use wireless network as WAN and create my own LAN.

I travel quite a bit and many hotels now do not have wired in-room networks.
So I'm looking for a way to use the wireless network as a wide area network and create a local network in-room behind a router/firewall, preferably with a private SSID..
I've been reading for quite some time and am confused about whether this is even possible.
It sounds as if I could use an airport express to join the wireless network then use the Ethernet to connect to another airport or time capsule? It sounds like joining a network on any other airport device (Time Capsule or Airport Extreme) disables all the network functions on hose devices...? I'd like to do this with a time capsule but I'm not really fond of passing my backup all over the hotel network...
Incidentally, this is about security and not dodging charges, I almost never stay in hotels that charge for Internet. Kind of hard to believe I'm the only one that wants to do this... and if it isn't obvious I don't have any airport devices presently.

    Interim update:
I picked up an airport express and joined it to the hotel network. I then connected the router that I carry around to the airport express and was able to connect to the internet using my SSID on the router.
After playing with the airport utility I see that configuring any of the airport devices to replace the current router should be no issue.
I'll maybe pick up a Time Capsule next week and finish the job.

  • Hi, I am using macbook pro 2009 model. In that, there is wifi hardware is not installed. I am not able to use wireless networks. Anybody can help me out.

    Hello,
I am using Macbook pro 2009 model. In that, when I tried to connect wireless network and wifi. I am not able to do. I have done R & D regarding this issue. Some them advice to do some below steps.
    Restart your Mac.
upon start-up, hold down the Opt key until you see your drives.
click on the recovery drive (note: this will not affect or delete any files you currently have).
    login if needed.
in the top right hand corner you will see the Wi-Fi icon (hopefully). Click the icon and then click "turn wifi Off" and then again click "turn wifi ON"
restart your Mac again and start it up normally.
    recover from your near-heart attack.
I've followed your 1 to 4 steps & then after clicking on the wifi icon, I found Wi-Fi: No hardware installed just beneath the icon. That means no Wifi hardware is installed in this machine. Do you have any suggestion about installing it? I mean how can I get that hardware? Is it available on internet? Thanks a lot again.

Apparently you have tried everything except - take the monitor in question to the Apple Store along with your computer.  If it works there, the mystery continues.

I think, actually it should use the private n/w show pick from OCR.
Please let me know how to make the second node to use the interconnect from private network and should pick from OCR.
    Thanks,

Set the cluster_interconnect parameter in DB or ideally, add this to OCR. But question is , even OSD should give you correct value? Did you find as why is it not coming?

  • Creating/Using Wireless Network

I need a step by step tutorial on linking my intel iMac (10.4.6) with my older iMac (10.3.9) with a wireless network. I am using an Airport Extreme to connect each computer to the internet — with no problem. And I have followed instructions on connecting them together (by creating a network) for file sharing. Nuttin happens — no public folders show. What should I see? How do I share files?

    Hi enahs,
    Welcome to Discussions
I have a question for you:
Do you have the firewall running on either of the macs? ]If you do, make sure to turn on "Personal File Sharing". You can do this by opening System Preferences, clicking the "Sharing" tab, and clicking "Firewall". You will see "Personal File Sharing" as one of the selections in the list. If that is turned off, it will prevent your mac from sharing any kind of files. If you click on "Advanced" make sure that "Stealth Mode" is not enabled. This is just a precaution to make sure that the computers will actually see each other. Then click on the "Services" tab and make sure that "Personal File Sharing" is turned on here too. Then see if your iMac recognizes the other iMac through Bonjour. To test this, open Safari, click on the "Bookmarks" bar, and select "Show all bookmarks". Then click on "Bonjour" on the left column, and your should see the other iMac there.

  • Airdrop using wireless network instead of direct connection

    Hello,
Last night my fiancee and I were moving her backed up music folder from my computer onto her new macbook air '11. My computer is an '11 13" pro. When we were both connected to her wireless network and initiated the airdrop file transfer, it was using the wifi network to send the data which caused the older wrt54g router to max out on bandwidth so the transfer was going really slow (1 MB/s).
Then when I realized the transfer (27 GB) was going to take longer than I was going to be there, I decided to try and get the airdrop to work directly. I eventually had to delete her network from my list of favorites in network settings, turn off wi-fi, and turn it back on. Then once my pro was NOT connected to any networks, I initiated the transfer to her computer, and it was going closer to 10 MB/s. Thus, it was using the true direct connection airdrop is SUPPOSED to use.
Now, nowhere does any of the Apple documentation say "...and then you must disconnect from the wireless network common to the computers..." so I am left wondering if this is some bug or why I had to jump through these hoops in order to get the full transfer potential.
Has anyone else experienced this? And/or does this method work for anyone else?
    Thanks,
    William

There are only a few devices that have multiple uses. I use a DLink DWL G703AP on my daughter's iMac for wireless connectivity. If you look it up on the DLink site you can see its capabilities. I am sure there are other devices with similar capabilities.

  • How to access Files / Folders on Mac from XP Laptop Using wireless network?

Hello, I have successfully set up my iMac and XP laptop to access the web via a wireless router. However I am wondering if there is a way for me to wirelessly connect to my files and folders on the Mac from the XP laptop? I am going nuts trying to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can find lots of useful information on iFelix's page "Sharing files between a Windows XP PC and a Mac running OS 10.4.x".
If the folder you want to share isn't viaible, you can use SharePoints to make any folder available to share.

  • How do I sahre a printer on XP with Leopard using wireless network?

    Please help!

We'll start with the assumption that both the XP and Mac computers are connected to the same local network and functioning normally. You will need to so something on both the XP system, and the Mac:
    On the XP computer:
    1. Click on the Start Menu and click on the "My Network Places" icon.
    2. In the list on the left, click "View network connections".
    3. In the "Network Connections" window, find your network connection (probably "Local Area Connection").
    4. Right click on your network connection, and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
    5. Click on the "General" tab.
    6. In the box labeled "This connection uses the following items", check the box labeled "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks", then click on "OK"
    7. Reboot the XP machine (usually not necessary, but there are circumstances where it is).
    8. Click on the Start Menu and select "Printers and Faxes"
    9. Right-click on the icon for the printer you wish to share and select "Sharing..." from the pop-up menu.
    10. On the sharing tab, click on the "Share this printer" bullet, and give the printer a name in the box labeled "Share name" (use something simple), then click on "OK".
    On the Mac:
    1. Go to the Apple menu in the upper left of the screen, click on it, and select "System Preferences..." form the menu.
    2. Click on the "Print & Fax" icon in the second row of icons.
    3. If the little padlock in the bottom left of the window is closed, you need to click on it and provide the administrator password to make your changes -- do that.
    4. Click on the "+" button under the box labeled "Printers".
    5. In the window that pops up, click on the "Windows" icon.
    6. Navigate to your XP computer and printer like you would navigating to a file in Finder, and click on the printer's name (the one you typed in the box labelled "Share name" in the instructions above for setting up XP).
    7. Select a printer model under "Print Using" (if you don't find an exact match, find the closest model by the same manufacturer).
    8. Click "Add".

  • Lenovo G510 Laptop Windows 7 64 bit - no wired or wireless access.

I recently bought a Lenovo G510 laptop and installed windows 7 64 bit onto it. After the install, I had to install all of the drivers, and everything was working fine.
Today I opened my laptop after having closed it ten minutes earlier, only to find that it wouldn't wake up from sleep mode. After trying everything I could think of, I did a hard restart and chose the 'start windows normally' option. However, when Windows started back up, it no longer recognized any internet sources, wired or wireless.
Windows troubleshooter says I need to 'turn on wireless capability'. I don't see a wireless hardware switch anywhere on the laptop. fn+f5 does nothing. No other keys look like they control internet. The device manager says all of the network devices are working normally. I tried reinstalling the drivers, but that didn't do anything either. The Windows Mobility Center says that the wireless is turned off, but the 'turn wireless on' button is greyed out and is not able to be clicked.
I'm all out of ideas. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi nej,
thanks for posting and welcome to the community. As you may already know when it comes to wireless issue there are many factors that can cause that different factors to look at. However in your case I would suggest you to click on "Start" and in the search field type "Services.msc". Click on services and once the services window opens, search for "WLAN AutoConfig". Doulble lick on it and check if the service is started or not? If it is not, ensure that it is started.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards

  • Duplicate printing (using wireless network) when Air reawakens.

OK, I'll print something, using my Macbook Air, but printing wirelessly and using my desktop as a kind of server, with printer sharing on. (The printer is hard-wired to the desktop.)
Then I'll go and do whatever I do, until I'm done, and close the Air.
Then, when I return to the Air, when the computer comes out of sleep, the job will print all. over. again. And there's no way to stop it, since the job is through the spooler and at the printer before I know it's happening. (I think Word has to still be running on the Air for this to happen.)
I end up with two copies of lots of things, and lately they've been long documents that I've been printing for school.

If you open the print queue on the Air and select Jobs > Show Completed Jobs, this should show if the job is being sent twice from the Air. If the job only shows being sent once then you could check the same thing for the shared print queue on the desktop.
If neither shows the job as being sent/received the second time then my only suggestion would be a reset of the printing system on both Mac's. This will delete the all the printer queues in Print & Fax but not the associated printer drivers, so you will only need to add the print queues again.
*How to Reset the Printing System*
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
    4. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    5. Restart your Mac

  • Install Tiger using Wireless network

I just bought a five-license Tiger DVD. One of my machines is G3 without a DVD drive. Can I use airport or some firewire connection to install Tiger on the G3 from either an Ibook G4 or a PowerMac G4?

If your G3 supports being connected to another Mac via Firewire Target Disk mode, you can connect the G3 to a Mac with a DVD drive to install Tiger on the G3.
See How to use FireWire target disk mode.
The G3 will be the Target computer and the Mac with a DVD drive will be the Host computer.

  • File transfer using wireless network

    Hi all
Is it possible to add my 5800 to my home network as a device so I can share files etc. The phone connects automatically for internet access but that's not what I want to do.
    Hope this makes sense.

Hi arkwright617 - yes what you say does make sense, and unfortunately I can't give you a clear yes or no answer as you'd have to try a couple of things to see whether it will work.
Just a bit of background so you know where I'm coming from - Some Nokia phones (like the N95) support a technology called UPnP which allows the filesharing you mention to take place relatively easily and painlessly - unfortunately the 5800 doesn't support this technology.
I've had a look at the technical specification of your phone, and it mentions that you have WiFi, but 3G only and I'm not sure exactly what that means - but if it means for example that you can surf the internet (from your phone) connecting via your wireless router rather than your mobile network provider then this is good and we can progress - otherwise it'll definitely be a no go (although you can still transfer files via cable if required you won't be able to do it wirelessly)
If you can surf the internet from your phone, then you will have to run a piece of software on your PC called a Web server - what you can then do is point your web browser on your phone to your PC and you can then download any files you require to your phone.
There are a couple of VERY VERY VERY important provisos you need to be aware of before doing this :
    1) Although you will be able to download files from your PC, if you misconfigure your web server then everyone else on the internet could potentially do so too - be very very very careful before going down this road.
    2) Even just installing web server software onto your PC could open it up to attacks from the internet - so be very very very careful.
    Regards,
    Edward
