Laptop wont boot up after downloading SP2 - Vista

Hello
I am hoping that someone will be able to help.
I have a Toshiba A200-H01N I recently downloaded Windows SP2 as it went through the instal process it had to be restarted.  During this process white numbers flash up on the screen and then it stops on !!0x0190036!! 391/58566 (srcore.dll)
I have tried running startup repair however it does not fix the problem, it just says problem fixed restart.  Once restarting the system it goes back to the same issue as above.
Please any advice will be great.
Regards
Ben

Try it this way, Ben. Turn the computer on and immediately press and hold the F8 key.
On the Advanced Boot Options menu, choose Repair Your Computer.
When you reach the System Recovery Options menu, do a System Restore.
If that doesn't fix things, go back to the System Recovery Options menu, choose Command Prompt, and follow the directions here
How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair start...
What's the part number of that computer? It probably looks something like PSAF6A-02H01N.

My HP laptop wont boot for no reason. I can read my hard drive in my enclosure attached to my desktop but it wont boot in the laptop. Can anyone advise on this issue if you have experience this before? Greeks can jump in too.

My suspicion is that somehow the order of the boot table in the bios is off. What is the computer set to boot from first?

  • Pavillion zv5000 laptop wont boot from cd after mobo and hdd replace

So I inherited a dead zv5000 laptop with no hdd.  I replaced the motherboard and CPU, and it powered up and booted from the cd drive with no hdd installed.  I was able to run memtek and the original hp os recovery discs, with no hdd installed.
Then I put in an empty hdd.  The bios sees the hdd ok, but I suddenly can't boot from the cd drive.  The bios settings are correct, and the discs spin in the cd drive, but it wont boot with the recovery discs, memtek, or an original xp install disc.
When I remove the hdd, it still wont boot from the cd drive.
So I google and I read stuff about hp tattoos on hdds and motheboards and dmi, and no passwords for the average person to do the tattoo.
So what do I need to do ?  I don't understand why it was good with the new motherboard, but as soon as I plugged in an hdd it wont do anyting.  I cant update bios because I cant boot past the bios, and not sure how that would help anyway.

If you have an open firmware password, delete it. It will not boot off anything but HD with OF password. Or at least thats what it was for me.

  • PC wont boot up after installing playbook via USB

Well. This morning I connected for the first time the Bb Playbook to my Dell M1730 Vista Laptop. I had already preinstalled the Bb desktop software to my PC. As soon as I connected my Playbook via USB, the computer detected it and proceeded to "install drivers" on the lower right side of the desktop next to where the clock is. It then booted up the Bb Desktop software which asked me to restart computer. I did, my computer did not boot up, lights came on but the screen never showed me anything. My Playbook which was still connected to the PC showed a screen that says: Installing Drivers. It shows a Monitor to the left and the playbook sign on the right with arrows between them. However I see nothing telling me its working on something, no % or status bar. Further more it tells me to open up the driver installation on my PC if it hasnt opened it yet. But my comp continues to show nothing. I disconected the Bb and tried to turn on comp again, now it does the same with or without thr blackberry plugged, it just stays there lights on but no screen or sounds. Only diff between when the Bb is attached or not is that the Bb automatically shows the screen previously described. I waited 20 min to see if it was really installing something but nothing happens.
    Help? Thanks!!

  • Satellite P100-240 wont boot up after failed BIOS update

Hi, let me just start by saying im an idiot....
Dowloaded a few drivers for my toshiba p100 240 and noticed there was a BIOS update, i downloaded it and ran the program only for it to come up with
an error that it will only allow the Administrator to run program. My laptop became slow and would not allow me to turn it off by any means. In the end i took out the
battery and restarted only to find a blank screen, no start up or anything on screen.
I fear i have totally killed my machine and its about 4 months out of warrenty, Im sure there is no cheap miricle cure for this but if anyone can give me my options here I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks for your time,
    Martin.

    Hi mate,
Thats a bit of a problem... If your machine really wont boot up and no screen comes up, then your BIOS was probably damaged.
I would really recommend you to contact an [authorized service partner|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and tell them your problem. Maybe they can do something for. I mean, your machines hardware is ok, and its just some BIOS related thing.
Hope your machine will work again..

  • Hp Laptop wont boot!

Hello! I had shut off my laptop to travel and when I tried to turn it on my laptop wouldn't boot up properly. My laptop would turn on and the HP logo would appear normally but after loading for a few moments an error would appear.  "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.... KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE" The message would apear for about 3 seconds then would disapear back to the HP logo start up. It would then repeat.  I tried these various teqniques and none of which have worked:1. Press f11 to get setup help.2. Press f2 to get a diagnosis3. Press f10 to make sure information is correct. My sister (Who has the same laptop model) had a very similar problem except she was able to reset her laptop and she didnt have the repeating pattern that I did.  I would like to reset my laptop to factory settings as I do not have very many personal documents or items on the laptop. I am still under waranty for until about October and I also want to know if that would help anything. **Almost forgot, I didnt download any recent things and I cant get anywhere past the things i mentioned. I cannot get tothe login.**  PLEASE HELP ASAP! I HAVE IMPORTANT THINGS TO GET TO!

Try removing a/c adapter and battery and then hold down the power on/off key for few seconds.
Also, if possible try accessing BIOS by pressing F10 key repeatedly.
If BIOS you can access BIOS then try using computer in VGA mode, by pressing F8 for advance boot options.
Also if you have any external monitor/display then try connecting it, so that video driver can be reinstalled.
You also mentioned about some stripes which shows some kind of damage to LCD, Please check on that as well

  • Laptop wont boot past Toshiba screen

I have the Satellite c855-s5123. I shut it down and when I went to turn it back on it wouldn't boot past the initial startup screen. The Toshiba screen came on, it said it was repairing (i believe that was the word it used) the C: drive. It began counting up with % until 100% then went on to the blank screen (mine is pink) that always comes up when booting up. After that it turned black, then blue back and forth and never went on to boot like normal. I don't know anything about computers. The only thing I did after this was press control alt delete...when I did this a message came up that said "the instruction at 0x04fe9006 referenced memory at 0x0000001d. the memory could not be written" and an "okay" box to click. i clicked okay and it went back to switching from blue to black blank screen. I turned it off and on once again and this time it didn't have the repair C: it just went to the Toshiba screen then straight to the black and then blue once again. I have only had my laptop about 8 months and I take perfect care of it. I have no idea what is going on. And as I said earlier, I know nothing about computers. Any help would be appreciated!!

  • My macbook wont boot up after a software update (2/8/2012)

My MacBook Pro will not reboot after a failed software update that was attempted on 2/8/2012. I am not sure if other users have experienced similar issues. It will not go past the white screen.   I have powered down the computer few times already to no avail. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.   Thanks

    Do the following:
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • 6735s.Failed Charger, Now Battery Playing Up? Laptop Wont Boot with Charger Plugged in!

    Hi,
I have a HP Compaq 6735s and have owned it for around 2 years. The OS is windows 7 Ultimate, I have the installation CD.
The other week my charger for the laptop broke, and I ordered a new one from Amazon. The charger was advertised as an orginal/genuine HP charger (although I doubt it is).
As soon as I got the charger, I put my laptop on charge, The orange light around the charging socket came on to indicate it was charging. I leave it half hour to an hour and try to turn on the laptop. All i get is the fan on and nothing else, I pulled out the charger for a split second and the laptop boots fine. However, I left the laptop on charge overnight, and it gained only 9% charge!
When the laptop is on, and plugged in, the fan is on. As soon as I unplug the charger, the fan turns off. When the charger is unplugged, the ring around the charging socket will flash orange, and the battery will decrease very fast! Once the laptop has been powered on, and the charger unplugged, if it gets plugged in again, it doesnt charge, it just says "plugged in, not charging".
This is very frustating, and it makes me want to not use the laptop, which is not an option, as I need it.
    Hopefully someone can help me!
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Here is a link to your notebook's support portal. Use the troubleshooting in the solve a problem section.
Did you ever calibrate your battery?
Chances are that your battery is no longer serviceable. Two to three years is a reasonable amount of service life for a Lion battery if it was never calibrated and/or has been left plugged in for extended periods of time. A battery that will not charge beyond 9% probably has issues.
Use the HP Support assistant to perform a battery status check. Also consider calibrating your battery. Calibration  resets the 100% to the maximum actual battery capacity.

  • Satellite Pro L300 wont boot up after updating BIOS from 1.30 to 1.50

    Dear All,
I own a Toshiba Satelklite Pro L300 and had no problems for the past 4 years. Last Monday I replaced my Hard Drive with a new one and after installing a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro, I downloaded all the drivers from the offical website. Upon finishing my last update, I updated the BIOS from version 1.30 to 1.50. After a few seconds my laptop restarted and was unable to load Windows and/ or recognise my new Hard Disk.
I tried several methods, being Safe Mode, Bios Optimun Defaults etc but was unsuccesful. IO could not even re-install Windows as the Hard Drive is not being recognised by the Laptop. I formatted the HD again via my desktop Pc but still have the same problem.
I am really worried and would appreciate immediate help!
    Best Regards,

    > I formatted the HD again via my desktop Pc but still have the same problem.
What happen exactly when you switch your notebook on?
Set BIOS to deult settings and try to install original recovery image that you got with your notebook. If everything works OK that means HDD upgrade was successful and there is no some serious hardware problem.
After this check you can try to install WXP again.
    Please post some feedback.
