  • Satallite Pro L300-1AQ wont charge battery while laptop is in use

    I have a Toshiba SP L300-1AQ.
In the last month we have started having problems with it shutting down unexpectedly, even when on mains power.
This morning I used it for about half an hour. When I started the battery level was 39% full, so I plugged it into the mains. The mains light on the front of the laptop came on and the task bar icon in Windows showed that it was plugged in and charging (battery light was orange).
After half an hour I checked the battery level and it was down to 16%. I turned down the brightness of the screen to try to reduce power usage, but within a minute the battery level was down to 15%. The task bar icon and power light both still showing mains power. The power adapter was cold to the touch. I would have expected it to be warm. It seems to me the power adapter is not providing enough power to run the laptop and charge the battery. If the laptop is in sleep mode the battery will charge.
Do we need a new power adapter?
    Thanks
    Nigel

    Hi
Its really hard to say what the reason is but first of all I think its hardware issue and not software related.
Maybe the mainboard doesnt charge the battery problem anymore or the AC/DC adaptor is faulty. So can you test another AC/DC adaptor from a friend for example? This would be interesting to know because if another AC/DC adaptor works it seems to be a problem of the mainboard.
I dont have Satellite Pro L300, I have only Satellite L300 but it works really good and I cant notice a problem with charging the battery. Its all ok as yet :)

  • Ugent: DM4-1160us laptop not charging battery when battery completely drained

    Hi, all,
I bought it last year and, a month later, I found it does not charge battery when the
battery was completed drained. "completely drained" means when clicking on power on
button, the charging light does not even flash. In such as case, if I plug in the power cord
to charge the battery, the computer will stay in "charging, 0%) forever and the charging
light stays amber and sometimes turns into white later.
Computer can not power up without power cord plugged in. Battery dinostics said battery
is bad and gave an error long error code. HP suppport replaced it with a new battery. But,
I found later the same problem happened again.
Note: the problem only happens when battery is completed drained meaning
the charging light does not flash when trying to turn the computer on.
I suspect the computer itself is defective. Anyone has idea?
    Thanks,
    SZ

THIS IS THE SOLUTION AND IT WILL TAKE 90 SECONDS TO FIX
Power management software in Windows Vista
    Understanding battery charging issues
If the notebook battery is not charging or the notebook does not indicate that the battery is charging, the most likely scenario is that the battery itself is operating correctly, but its power management software may have become corrupt. In order to correct the problem, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the power management software by using the Device Manager. This document will explain how to uninstall and reinstall the ACPI Battery listings in Windows Vista, as well as how to obtain and install updated BIOS files, if needed to correct other battery issues.
Uninstalling and reinstalling power management software in Windows Vista
In order to correct problems with the battery's power management software, follow the steps below.
    1. Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager .
    2. Expand the Batteries category.
    3. Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall .
WARNING: Do not remove the Microsoft AC Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.
    4. On the Device Manager taskbar, click Scan for hardware changes .
Alternately, select Action > Scan for hardware changes .
Windows will scan your computer for hardware that doesn't have drivers installed, and will install the drivers needed to manage your battery's power. The notebook should now indicate that the battery is charging.

  • New laptop not charge battery

I just bought Pro book 440 g1 for 2 day, and now i can not charge the battery.
    1. when the laptop power off, the battery led is not light, and not charge ( i see the battery 97% in windows, after 30 minutes, it's still 97%).
    2. when i am in windows, the power manage said that "it's pluged in but not charging", and my laptop use AC power not battery.
    I've tried:
    1. unistall microsoft battery driver and re install the driver but it's not work.
    2. try to remove the battery then press power button in 1 minutes, and put the battery in, when i put battery in see the battery led light only once, then plugin in adapter but it's not work.
    3. The adapter is woking well.
Please help me! Why the new laptop have problem.

Certainly. Assuming you have being using this PowerBook for some time, I would recommend first backing up any important files to CD, DVD, or external drive, as you will be completely erasing the contents of the hard drive using my method.
The discs that came with your PowerBook should include one labelled something like "PowerBook G4 15-inch and 17-inch Mac OS X Install Disc 1". If you insert this disc into your PowerBook, you will see an application on the disc entitled "Install Mac OS X" (or similar). If you run this program, it will restart your PowerBook and enter the OS X installer.
During the process of going through this installer, at some stage (I can't remember exactly when) a button entitled "Customize" or "Options" will appear. If you click on this, it will give you several options for your new install of OS X - "Upgrade and Install", "Archive and Install", and "Erase and Install".
I don't personally know if the other two would have any effect on your battery issues, as I haven't tried them myself in regard to this particular program. Again, I must stress that if you follow this method you will erase all data from your hard drive during the process, and lose any of your documents etc. I would recommend backing up all of your data prior to trying this as a method. The Apple Store or AppleCare may also be able to offer more information on the Erase & Install method or backing up your data.
I hope that's of some use to you,
    Tim Whitmore

  • My laptop wont charge

I am having the same problem. I have unplugged the adapter and taken out the battery. I push the power button and held for 30 seconds. Put the battery back in, plugged in the adapter and it still will not come on. I replaced the adapter with a new one about a month ago. It worked fine until Monday.

Satellite Pro L300 PSLB9A-02L001 SpecificationsSatellite Pro L300 PSLB9A-02L001 Downloads  Flashing lights with your AC and battery usually indicate a charging problem. Could be a bad battery, a bad power supply, or just need reset and/or reseat of your battery. And, yes, your system should work with the AC plugged in and the battery removed. But, let's just try a system reset. Power off the laptop, unplug the AC from the unit, remove the battery, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds, replace the battery and AC, power on, as soon as you see the Toshiba logo, press the 'F2' key to enter the BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, and then boot into Windows. Please let us know what happens. Good luck. Mike

  • Laptop wont charge.

So my battery stopped working about a month ago. The laptop would say "plugged in, not charging" and would not stay or turn on unless I had he charger plugged into it. I was told that all I needed was a new battery, so I bought one from amazon. I just recieved my new battery and when i plugged it in, it said "plugged in, charging". But it was 0% then after a while it jumped to 100%, but when I unplug my charger it jumps back to 0 and turns off. I read online that my problem could be that i didnt buy an hp battery, but I want to be sure before I go and spend more money on another battery. I also read that I may need a new charger, please help.

I have similar problem with my Pavilion DV4-1225DX, originally with Windows Vista, but upgraded to Windows 7 Professional.
I tried everything and have the same message: "0% available, plugged in, not charging"
Ive updated Bios, the battery is new(its ok but totally discharged), the charger is ok too(the light near the plug is On) and the front bolt light is blinking.
Tryin to uninstall the ACPI battery from Device Manager, remove and reinstall the battery, I resolved the problem but only for few seconds then the same as the beggining.
I dont know what else to do, please your help.
    Thanks in advance.

OK. I think it's fixed. I took your advice. I printed the steps from the link you provided. After the procedure, the battery charge indicator is now displaying the charging icon. The light in the charger socket is now red. I really hope this will fix the problem. The battery is new and I have never had any issues with my iBook before. iBooks are a work of art. Mine is precious to me. Thanks a lot Duane. You do not know how much I appreciate it. As I write this to you the percentage is up to one from zero. I think we are on our way. Cheers!

  • Macbook pro turns it self off, wont charge battery, often wont boot.

Around June, after a couple months of light issues, my macbook pro basically just stopped turning on. I initially thought it was the video card, and since it was one of the earlier core 2 duo models, didnt think it was worth fixing. Just recently I happened to get the torx screwdriver needed to fully open the computer, and after not trying it for a couple of months, it booted up like new. At this time the battery appeared to be charging normally, but again something happened that seemed to coincide with my plugging a usb mouse into the usb port near the magsafe adapter, the light flickered and then it ceased charging. A little while later I was trying to move files off, and it shuts itself off. Then the same problem comes up while trying to boot it, typical noise, and then the apple screen comes up, and the picture is flickering and dims til its off again.
Since then the computer can be used for periods, seemingly doing better after its left off for hours at a time, but only for 30min-1hr max. the battery appears to not be charging at all, and the magsafe light, is either a bright green, or a dim green that has flickers between green and orange. If i press the button on the battery, no lights show up on it at all, and whenever the computer is actually on the batt. monitor says 0%.
The adapter, is in pretty good shape since I replaced it a 18mo ago, so I dont think thats the cause, the battery itself had very little life when it was running before dying in june, but Im not sure how a defective/dead battery could cause any of the other problems. I tried to reset the settings by removing adapter+batt. and holding power for 5 sec, but i dont see any effect.
Im clueless about troubleshooting macbook pros and laptops in general, though i would honestly think that the issue is basically due to the laptop not being able to be powered correctly, but after that I am lost.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi W, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Try removing the battery and booting.

  • Iphone 4 wont charge - battery dead

My iphone 4 has suddenly stopped charging for some reason. I've had no signs of battery problems at all before this.
I've read that some people have managed to fix this problem by doing a hard reset, but my battery was dead before I tried charging it so I can't do this. (when I try I get the connect to power image)
I've checked the phone for any signs of lint etc, and cant see anything obvious.
I've tried multiple cables and adapters and the usb slot on my macbook and none of these get any response at all. When I plug into a speaker dock I have got, I get the connect to power supply image on the screen.
The phone is 2 years old (almost to the day) seems they have made it last the exact length of my contract
Was wanting to hold off upgrading till the next iphone comes out
    any suggestions?

I am not able to tell you how to fix this (because I've not had luck doing this), but a Genius at a local Apple Store may be able to help. If you can not go to an Apple Store, you may want to contact Apple and tell them of the problem. If your iPhone has suffered water damage (even extreme moisture in the air can do that...unfortunately), you are probably out of luck.
I'm sorry I could not help you further.

  • Pavilion dv7 laptop wont charge

I have the aformentioned laptop, which I got in february. This morning, it would not charge, the charger was also making a beeping noise but when I tried to use a replacement, it still would not charge. I have been led to believe this is a problem with a piece on the motherboard, but I do not know what piece it is, where or how to replace it, or if it is even something I can fix without having to do some sort of system restore.

To be more specific, this is a pavilion dv7t-7000

  • ElliteBook 8740w wont charge battery or start. Battery icon blinks in orange color

Hello, suddenly my ElliteBook 8740w won't charge the battery and battery color blinks in orange color. Well, I though battery is dead (it is already 5 years old) so I purchased new. Well, the notebook is not charging new battery too. When it consumed all the power from new battery the situation is the same like with the old one. When I remove battery from dock and plug AC the same problem is vithnessed... baterry icon blinks in orange color. AP power looks good however it is providing consistent 19,94V. What is wrong? Thanks, Ales

    Hello @AlesR ,
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product, here is a link to test the battery.
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.
    Thanks.

  • Laptop not charging battery.

I have a Satellite L505D-S5983 with Windows 7 and have recently replaced my battery that came with it when I first got it. I've tried everything I could find on here to fix it but nothing is working. Is anyone having similar problems or could help me with this issue?
    Thanks

With the computer powered down and the power cord removed, pull the battery. Any corrosion or damage to the battery contacts on the computer or the battery? Any clear tape or anything preventing a good connection between the computer and the battery? Does the battery LED light up when the battery is installed and the power cord is connected? New batteries should be good and last about a year. If you're still having problems with this new battery, get it replaced. Once in awhile it is a computer problem, but mostly it's the battery.
