Laptop wont charge.

So my battery stopped working about a month ago. The laptop would say "plugged in, not charging" and would not stay or turn on unless I had he charger plugged into it. I was told that all I needed was a new battery, so I bought one from amazon. I just recieved my new battery and when i plugged it in, it said "plugged in, charging". But it was 0% then after a while it jumped to 100%, but when I unplug my charger it jumps back to 0 and turns off. I read online that my problem could be that i didnt buy an hp battery, but I want to be sure before I go and spend more money on another battery. I also read that I may need a new charger, please help.

I have similar problem with my Pavilion DV4-1225DX, originally with Windows Vista, but upgraded to Windows 7 Professional.
I tried everything and have the same message: "0% available, plugged in, not charging"
Ive updated Bios, the battery is new(its ok but totally discharged), the charger is ok too(the light near the plug is On) and the front bolt light is blinking.
Tryin to uninstall the ACPI battery from Device Manager, remove and reinstall the battery, I resolved the problem but only for few seconds then the same as the beggining.
I dont know what else to do, please your help.
Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
the steps provided above helps you to remove the static charge stored on your computer. it may resolve several issue caused by static charge storage. however in your case it might be an issue with the battery connectors or the damaged AC adapter which is not providing enough power to charge the battery or power on the laptop or both.
please try with another AC adapter.

  • Pavilion dv7 laptop wont charge

I have the aformentioned laptop, which I got in february. This morning, it would not charge, the charger was also making a beeping noise but when I tried to use a replacement, it still would not charge. I have been led to believe this is a problem with a piece on the motherboard, but I do not know what piece it is, where or how to replace it, or if it is even something I can fix without having to do some sort of system restore.

To be more specific, this is a pavilion dv7t-7000

  • My laptop wont charge

I am having the same problem. I have unplugged the adapter and taken out the battery. I push the power button and held for 30 seconds. Put the battery back in, plugged in the adapter and it still will not come on. I replaced the adapter with a new one about a month ago. It worked fine until Monday.

Could be a bad battery, a bad power supply, or just need reset and/or reseat of your battery. And, yes, your system should work with the AC plugged in and the battery removed. But, let's just try a system reset. Power off the laptop, unplug the AC from the unit, remove the battery, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds, replace the battery and AC, power on, as soon as you see the Toshiba logo, press the 'F2' key to enter the BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, and then boot into Windows. Please let us know what happens. Good luck. Mike

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • My laptop wont start up! it wont even charge!! help me!

so my laptop fell off my bed and landed on the side where i charge it, so now there is a dent where i charge it. so sometimes i have to hold the charger in or else it wont charge or i have to leave it there and not move the computer, if im lucky. so then it got to the point where it would only charge if it was green. so now, when i hold it in till it turns green to just turn it on, it wont turn on! when i try to turn it on it makes this beep sound like four times and it just sits there... nothing on the screen, nothing. i dont know whats wrong and i most importantly dont know how to fix this! can someone please help me?

Hi, Appletrouble. What's wrong is that you dropped and damaged your computer, and now it needs to be repaired before it will work again.
At a minimum, you'll probably have to replace the DC-In card to which the power port is supposed to be securely soldered; the impact probably broke those solder joints and/or caused electrical contacts to short out against the dented case. You may also need to replace your AC adapter, if its plug is bent or its cord is kinked or lumpy; the latter indicates fraying of the conductors inside the insulation, and will be followed sooner or later by shorting out, sparking and smoking — things you don't want to see anywhere, especially not in bed.
The four beeps at startup indicate another problem that will probably prevent the machine from starting up even after you replace the obviously-damaged power system components. If I were you, I'd take the Powerbook to an authorized Apple service provider for evaluation, to find out whether it's going to need more hardware repairs than just the DC-In card and AC adapter.

  • Wont charge or connect to my laptop

my ipad wont charge or connect to my itunes on my laptop please help

The best way to charge the iPad is via the wall plg - most computers, especially older ones, do not provide enough power to their USB ports in order to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate (it may still be charging but slowly; it will probably be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off).
In terms of connecting to your computer's iTunes, then there is troubleshooting help here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

Try removing the battery and then plugging in the power adapter. Does the led light up and can you press the power button and  boot up to the Windows logon screen?

  • Ipad wont charge when connected to laptop but charges when connected to wall outlet

ipad wont charge when connected to laptop but charges when connected to wall outlet

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My ipad wont charged when connected to laptop. HELP?!!!

my ipad wont charged when connected to my laptop. Anyone know how to fix that. thanks, much appreciated
Also, just noticed this now....i have it connected and its got no battery. It will shut off like it died (while connected to the laptop) and then after a few minuted it will turn on. with the battery icon saying "not charging"

Chances are your USB port is charging but only when the screen is off. This is e behaviour i get from our pcs.
Make a note of the battery level, plug it in and make sure the screen is off, after and hour check the battery level.
It should have charged a bit but very, VERY slowly.
Your computer port normally only delivers 500mha of power. Some modern macs deliver 1100mha. Anything less than 1000mha wont charge with the screen in.
The iPhone charge delivers 1000mha and the iPad charger delivers 2100mha.
So it not charging via the computer is normal.

  • 6735s.Failed Charger, Now Battery Playing Up? Laptop Wont Boot with Charger Plugged in!

    Hi,
I have a HP Compaq 6735s and have owned it for around 2 years. The OS is windows 7 Ultimate, I have the installation CD.
The other week my charger for the laptop broke, and I ordered a new one from Amazon. The charger was advertised as an orginal/genuine HP charger (although I doubt it is).
As soon as I got the charger, I put my laptop on charge, The orange light around the charging socket came on to indicate it was charging. I leave it half hour to an hour and try to turn on the laptop. All i get is the fan on and nothing else, I pulled out the charger for a split second and the laptop boots fine. However, I left the laptop on charge overnight, and it gained only 9% charge!
When the laptop is on, and plugged in, the fan is on. As soon as I unplug the charger, the fan turns off. When the charger is unplugged, the ring around the charging socket will flash orange, and the battery will decrease very fast! Once the laptop has been powered on, and the charger unplugged, if it gets plugged in again, it doesnt charge, it just says "plugged in, not charging".
This is very frustating, and it makes me want to not use the laptop, which is not an option, as I need it.
    Hopefully someone can help me!
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Here is a link to your notebook's support portal. Use the troubleshooting in the solve a problem section.
Did you ever calibrate your battery?
Chances are that your battery is no longer serviceable. Two to three years is a reasonable amount of service life for a Lion battery if it was never calibrated and/or has been left plugged in for extended periods of time. A battery that will not charge beyond 9% probably has issues.
Use the HP Support assistant to perform a battery status check. Also consider calibrating your battery. Calibration  resets the 100% to the maximum actual battery capacity.
    Best regards,
    erico
