Laptop wont recognise Ipod

my Ipod 5G won't be recognised my laptop. the laptop makes the noise signalling when i plug it in but it wont show up in devices??

See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
- I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • Itunes/laptop wont recognise Iphone

My itunes/laptop wont recognise my Iphone 4s since Itunes update. It would let me charge and makes a funny noise when I try to connect. I've deleted Itunes and restarted again, rebooted my phone, reset it, and checked my firewall and still nothing..

That just happened to me too which caused my iphone to restore.  Now its locked.  My apple id isn't working to restore my phone.

  • Laptop wont recognise charger

My laptop wont't recoginse the charger, we have tried taking the battery out and holding the power for 30 seconds and then putting the charger back in technique.  How do I fix this?

Try removing the battery and then plugging in the power adapter. Does the led light up and can you press the power button and  boot up to the Windows logon screen?

  • Windows 8 laptop not recognising iPod Touch

    Hi,
I have an old 2nd gen ipod touch and a 5th gen, I bought a new laptop a few months ago and neither iPod works with it. When I connect via USB it is recognised on my computer as an external storage device, but it doesn't register with iTunes at all.
I have de-authorised my old laptop, I've tried uninstalling iTunes, I've done all the updates necessary... I'm stuck as to what else I can do. I have the same problem with my iPad... can anyone advise?
    Many thanks

  • Help! iTunes wont recognise iPod and ive tried everything..

I seem to have this ongoing drama with iTunes. I thought it was all over last week when I updated iTunes with the latest version. Everything was sweet for a couple of days. Now its back!
    Whats happenning is this:
    I connect iPod.
Nothing happens, it doenst start up iTunes.
    So I manually open iTunes.
iTunes is very slow. Finally opens up.
Then it spends another 5mins "frozen".
Finally the iPod pops up but its asking me to re-name it.
It asks me this every time.
When it syncs it takes a long time.
When I ask it to eject, it takes probably 20min.
Sometimes i have to eject it from My Computer.
This is what I have tried to do:
    Restart the computer.
    Restart iPod.
    Change USB ports.
Restore iPod from iTunes - it never actually completed this as after 2 hrs of watching the progress bar not going past the first stage I gave up!
Re-install iTunes. Couldnt get it to go past the part where it was stopping a service? Dont know what this means but it wouldnt re-install.
So can anyone suggest what I should try now cause I am stuck.
Please if you have a suggestion I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks.

Update - I have discovered that iTunes will only recognise my iPod if I open it in the following order 1)Connect iPod, and 2)Open iTunes. If I already have iTunes open and then plug the iPod in it wont work.
Its still asking me to set up the iPod and it takes around 5mins to detect the iPod is connected.
    Please can anyone help me?????

  • Wont recognise ipod nano and reinstalling query

Hiya I have bought a nano 8gb and was very excited as my mini is starting to fail me (after 4 years). My computer wont however recognise the **** thing the nano that is...will recognise the mini no worries though! Have looked at the whole restart reinstall re.... document but i cant even get the apple symble up??? Any ideas? Also if I uninstall itunes do I need to back up all my tracks onto CD or will they stay in the itunes folder on my comp??? Please help as Im really annoyed and if its a major problem I will return the thing and buy a different product as never had issue with my mini at anytime!

'An Ipod has been detected . But it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the IPod. Then try again. If the problem presists, uninstall ITunes , then reinstall Itunes again.'
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • New laptop not recognising ipod

I recently bought a new laptop. I have installed itunes on this machine. when i open itunes and log into may account and connect my ipod itunes does not seem to recognise my ipod. What do I do.
Also I bought my children an ipod shuffle each for christmas. How do I register thieer ipods so that they can put songs on their ipods from my itunes account?
    Thanks

I'm in the same boat, my iPod Touch worked fine before this lousy update. None of Apple's online solutions work and I haven't been able to use it since Monday. It ***** that I will have to send it off to Apple to be replaced (apparently they send you a new or refurbished replacement rather than fixing your one). I feel like I should be compensated for Apple ruining my iPod Touch.

  • Laptop wont recognise i-pod

trying to transfer music laptop to i-pod, message reads applianc switched off.IT IS NOT.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - reboot the computer
    - Try another cable and USB port
The following may result in not regaining use of the iPod
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Laptop wont recognise USB cable

Had a new work laptop and I can not install my HP3050a printer.
I have downloaded the driver but can not connect the printer to the laptop.
I normally use it via USB cable but when I plug the USB in it doesn't appear to recognise it although it does make a noise to say it's been inserted.
The usb wire works fine with my other laptop so am really stumped?????
I have tried connected to the printer wireless but as part of the installation you have to insert the usb before clicking next. The next button is greyed out so I can not click it????????
REALLY need this printer as I work from home and use it on a daily basis
    Can someone please help me

    Hi SWMel,
I found an HP document that can help to connect your printer wirelessly and a YouTube video from HP's YouTube channel, HP Printer Support, to connect by USB.
Here is the LINK to the wireless connection document.
Here is the LINK to the video for the USB connection.
Let me know if this solves your problem.

  • OSX 10.3.9 G4 wont recognise Ipod nano at installation!

I am working with an Power Book G4 - OSX 10.3.9 system and it appears it will not recognise nor work with Ipods, (within the Itunes Software), as it may be too old an operating system. Is this true? What can I do to upgrade this system to make it work with Ipod nano's, (an early generation nano and a 5th. Generation Nano? Do I need to buy/download new operating system? What is best option for me to use? What are the risks of this? Any clever/realistic solutions/options?
    Tahnks.

Here's the requirements page for the various iPod Nano models. http://support.apple.com/specs/#ipod You need at least Tiger 10.4.11 & iTunes 9. There is no free download of Tiger - you have to buy.
Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store *but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753)*. For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) (See Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac? ). Expect to pay (possibly a lot) more than the Apple list price of $129.
Also check these web stores: http://www.lacomputercompany.com/cgi-bin/rpcart/index.cgi?command=dispitem&type= sku&sku=19521 http://www.allmac.com/shop/index.php?cPath=5_10003
Possible Alternative if you are currently using Panther 10.3 – Do a Google search for Tiger 10.4 Upgrade DVD . It will upgrade your 10.3 to 10.4, but it doesn’t contain the full retail Tiger installer. Should be cheaper than the retail Tiger install DVD.
After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Look at this link Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Installing Software Support Page
    http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/install/
You can also download the Tiger Installation and Setup Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/TigerInstall_SetupGuide.pdf
When you upgrade the OS, do it via Archive & Install. See About the Archive and Install feature http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
Be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. Also, repair permissions before and after the install.

  • Windows 8.1 laptop not recognising Ipod, showing error 21 in device manger

I have tried uninstalling the current driver (original dated 2006) and updating but nothing seems to be available.  Error 21 says trying to uninstall device.
