Laptop wont start - \Boot\BCD 0xc000000f

So I did a Windows update, then restarted and now this error appears. I also deselected "Enable tab groups" in Internet Options under tab settings. I dont know if this could affect it but thats all the changes I did since the last restart, I cant think of anything else except for Windows and McAfee updates. I have Vista 32, Satellite laptop, McAfee firewall. Does model matters? On the sticker there's A500 - 13F
This is what I get. I was already googling for this error but I cant find anything useful other than same questions.
Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1.   Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2.   Choose your language settings, and then click “Next.”
3.   Click “Repair your computer.”
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

I dont have this boot CD and no blank CDs or DVDs to burn on until I buy some tomorrow. I also dont have any installation disk, the OS was already installed and I dont remember getting any recovery disk with it (unless if I lost it). What can I do? Is using boot CD the only option?
Now I've tried F12 for Boot menu. I get 3 options, HDD1/SSD1, CD/DVD and LAN, but none of them work, I still get the same error screen. I've also tried with F8 after reading few posts with the same error, but I still end with the same error message. F2 is for Setup but I dont find anything useful. I also have HDD recovery on D partition on the current laptop and on the other one that has this error, can this fix it?

Hi! Has anyone that is replying on this thread created a system repair disc?? If you have boot with it and try each method to fix your problem.

If Windows 7 won't start or starts with significant problems, you may need to use the System Repair Disc to fix problems with Windows 7. The System Repair Disc is designed to let you boot up Windows — even if nothing else works — and provides you with several options for repairing your failing system.
You need to create the system repair disc. If you don’t create one, you limit your recovery options. The system repair disc is not the same thing as the recovery disc that came with your computer. It won’t reinstall Windows 7 and it won’t reformat your computer. It's simply a gateway to Windows' built-in recovery tools.

I understand that your notebook will not successfully power on, and that there is a blinking CAPS Lock button on the keyboard. I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To determine the significance behind the blinking light pattern, I suggest following the steps in this document on Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps. This should help identify the issue causing the blinking light on your notebook.
Please re-post with the pattern of blinking lights, and I look forward to your reply!

  • My laptop wont start up! it wont even charge!! help me!

so my laptop fell off my bed and landed on the side where i charge it, so now there is a dent where i charge it. so sometimes i have to hold the charger in or else it wont charge or i have to leave it there and not move the computer, if im lucky. so then it got to the point where it would only charge if it was green. so now, when i hold it in till it turns green to just turn it on, it wont turn on! when i try to turn it on it makes this beep sound like four times and it just sits there... nothing on the screen, nothing. i dont know whats wrong and i most importantly dont know how to fix this! can someone please help me?

Hi, Appletrouble. What's wrong is that you dropped and damaged your computer, and now it needs to be repaired before it will work again.
At a minimum, you'll probably have to replace the DC-In card to which the power port is supposed to be securely soldered; the impact probably broke those solder joints and/or caused electrical contacts to short out against the dented case. You may also need to replace your AC adapter, if its plug is bent or its cord is kinked or lumpy; the latter indicates fraying of the conductors inside the insulation, and will be followed sooner or later by shorting out, sparking and smoking — things you don't want to see anywhere, especially not in bed.
The four beeps at startup indicate another problem that will probably prevent the machine from starting up even after you replace the obviously-damaged power system components. If I were you, I'd take the Powerbook to an authorized Apple service provider for evaluation, to find out whether it's going to need more hardware repairs than just the DC-In card and AC adapter.

  • Laptop wont start after shut down.

Hello, i got problem with HP Pavilion g6.
Yesterday i watched youtube, and laptop was on side, when i got too tired, then i shut down and left it on side for the night. In the morning i got home and thinked that battery is too low to start but when i plugged in power cable then the light even didnt turn on that's next to plug in hole. I have checked my power cable,it works fine but laptop dont do a single thing, even not the single light wont work.
Sorry for bad English, and its hard to write with phone.
    Thank you.

    Hello Uku,
Welcome back to the HP Forums!
I understand your HP Pavilion G6 notebook does not turn on. If the light around the power connector on the notebook does not light up, either the connector is not functioning or is not getting power from the adapter. If the LED indicator on the adapter is lit, it's a good sign that the adapter is functional, but is not a 100% fool-proof way to determine if it is working.
If possible, try another power adapter. Any adapter that fits will work for testing purposes. Once you have determined if the adapter works or not, discontinue use immediately and replace the original adapter if an alternate adapter works. You can order parts here: HP Part Surfer. You will need the exact model or product number to use this website. For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
You may also want to try reconnecting the power connector inside the notebook. For steps on removing and re-seating the power connector you can check out our Maintenance and Service Guide. The steps you're looking for can be found on page 63. Simply remove and reconnect the power connector and see if that resolves the issue.
If the above suggestions do not resolve the issue, I recommend you contact phone support for available service options. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Laptop wont start right

When I boot my laptop, it shows the logo, then it goes to a black screen with a lot of white text that keeps coming, more text is constantly being added. It never finishes starting. I have tried a windows recovery disk, it wouldn't do anything. I tried to start it in safe mode but f8 doesn't work. This all started after the computer died and it wouldn't start right. I also took out the ram and holding down the power button to drain it.
    Nothing has worked pleas help!!

Power down the computer, flip it over, and remove the battery.  There is a panel towards the front held in place by 2 screws.  Loosen these screws(they are capture screws, they will not come out), and remove the panel.  There will be 2 screws that hold the hard drive caddy in place.  Remove the screws, and slide the hard drive caddy out.  Plug it back in, put the screws back in, return the cover and battery.
Try to power the system up, and see if you get the same error.  If you still get the error, then it is a good possibility that your hard drive is the issue.

  • Laptop wont start until it heats up

    Hi ,
I own a Hp dv6-2020ax it wont boot until it heats up a bit.Till that the wireless and mute led's remain red, touchpad led remains on.After abt 10 min later when i restart (the temperature reaches abt 72 deg C) it boots instantly and remains on until i shut it down. Then i have to start again.
What should i do ,is some solder loose,or my cooling fans damaged.
    please suggest for repair options.
    Thanks
    Subu8146

    Hey @Subu8146 ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand you're experiencing issues booting up your dv6-2020ax notebook.
Does your PC boot into the BIOS before it warms up? To load the BIOS tap F10 repeatedly after pressing power to turn on the PC.
If the BIOS loads check for a setting to delay the HDD. It's usually under Advanced BIOS features. If you have access to it add a few seconds to the HDD detection (5 seconds should be enough) and let me know if that helps.
You may also want to try changing the RAM. If you have 2 DIMMs installed, remove one and try to boot. If the same issue occurs, try the same card and try it in the other DIMM slot. If this also fails, try the other RAM card.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • My monitor won't light up, my laptop wont start

Yeaterday, after leaving my laptop perfectly fine for about an hour, I returned, opened it and nothing. It wouldn't wake up. The screen stays dark, the keyboard won't light up, even though it sounds like the motor's running, so to speak. After turning it off, pulling the cord + the battery out, and turning it on again, same thing. No monitor or keyboard even though the harddrive sounds like its starting up, except for the fact that its not making that "ping" sound when I first start it up. Turn off again, hold option and power, same thing. Hold down command +control, then power (after locating my user's manual and them suggesting that) still nothing. Unplugging for a few hours, hoping maybe if everything cools off, still the same. I'm going to call apple after I post this but my warranty has expired + I dont have apple care (idk if I can get apple care after my regular warrenty has expired) + I'm afraid they won't help me. Plz help.

    Hi moonstar,
    It could be this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
seems like your MBP is one of the ones in this recall. This applies even w/o Apple Care.
I'm afraid they won't help me
Well there are Apple stores and there are Apple stores. Keep trying until you find a sympathetic ear and have them run the GPU test. If it fails that it will kick out a code that will authorize a free repair.

To zap the PRAM, hold down Command-Option-P-R after the startup chime.
However, you might want to do the following. Hold down Command-Option-O-F to go into Open Firmware. Once in there, type "reset-nvram" and hit return. Once returned to the prompt, typr "reset-all", hit Return, and the Mac will reboot. Be sure to leave out the quotes on both commands. Hope this helps.

    RTT try this:
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
    1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
    2. Press the power button.
    3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
    4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Once booted up go to this link and follow the procedures.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464
If you have any software (diagnostic) such as tech tools pro (v4.1 or newer) or mechwarrior, you should be able to start up off these CD's if this doesn't work.
