Large attachments -- now deleted -- still causing problems in Outlook

If anyone routes a Gmail account to Microsoft Outlook on a MacBook Pro, I could sure use your expertise.
I made a huge mistake of trying to email out large video files as attachments.  It didn't work, which I was prepared for, but I had no idea the ongoing problems it could cause.  I located the email messages containing the large attachments in my Outbox and deleted them and emptied the trash. Thought that would do it, but apparently not.
Now, when I open Outlook, as soon as I make my first click to do anything at all, I get the swirling rainbow circle and eventually this error message from Gmail:
[ALERT] Message too large. http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?8770 ... which is an unhelpful blurb about large attachments not working.
Then, Outlook remains completely frozen, and the only thing I can do is force quit it.  It's completely unusable.
Do these huge files still reside somewhere they are trying to be sent?  How can I find them and delete them?
If anyone has ideas, I would be truly grateful.  I'm not even sure whether I should be contacting Apple, MS or Google for help.  Thank you for any suggestions!

Unfortunately the references to the deleted items are still there. It is the users default calendar and we have a naming convention for these. :-(I see the same thing after re-creating the calendar. sigh
It seems no triggers are fired when i delete the calendar to remove entries in the ics50deletelog.db It does seem there is no way to individually purge delete log entries for a user. You should log a Sun support request for this issue/limitation.
From another post on these forums it seems that purging the ics50deletelog.db is not a good idea when you have outlook connector clients. Is this true? You can (and should) purge the delete log database -- however you need to consider how far back you go with delete log entries. There is a discussion on this very topic here:

  • Does adding V-Card to signature cause problems for Outlook (Windows) users?

    Hi -
I want to add a V-Card to my signature in Apple Mail (by drag and drop from address book to signature pane in Mail>Preferences).  I have read that, in the past, this can caused problems for some recipients who use Windows Outlook.
Is this still the case?  If so, how can I add a V-Card to my signature without causing problems for recipients?
    Thanks -
    Doug

I take note of your WNLB recommendation but in this case the error start on one of the CAS server first and client connected to the CAS that does not have any errors continue to work as normal.
I upgraded to SP3 late last year.  This problem first happened in Feb 2014.
Have you checked the DNS settings on the VM - yes, and both of them are pointing to one of our DC's.
I would set the client with a Host file to just one CAS to rule out the WNLB - this would be too hard
to manage as when the issue happens again it could happen on CAS1 but the client could be connected to CAS2 so it wont experience the issue.

  • How do I totally remove the 'ghost' of mountain lion from my ibook G4? I erased and restored to panther then Snow Leopard but ML still causing problems

I am not very tech savvy but work from home and have used Macs for about 18 years, so know the basics. Have had iBook G4 for almost 5 years, it came with Panther Discs and later added Snow Leopard. Never had even the slightest issue until about 2 months ago. Kept getting "browser no longer supported" on websites and eventually could no longer edit my own Jimdo website or publish on YUDU, so downloaded Mountain Lion and installed it on my iBook.
Straight away it was much slower to start up,  wasn't that keen generally, but used it for 6 weeks hoping I would get used to it. At that point my older Mac Mini (also running on Snow Leopard) died and as I wanted to continue using my printer and scanner (neither had drivers to work with Mountain Lion) I went to Time machine and restored my iBook to the day before I installed Mountain Lion.
iBook was better immediately and started faster again, everything fine for about 3 weeks and then last wednesday my iBook would not come back on. The grey start up window showed the apple and whirly wheel for between 5 to 10 minutes, then just a blank blue screen. I could move the cursor but that was it. Tried to start up again many times, eventually the grey apple was taking up to 15 minutes before the blue screen. Refused to go beyond that blank blue screen when holding down C and starting up from either Panther or Snow Leopard discs or from Disk warrior disc. Disc Warrior and Utilities said nothing was wrong with the hard drive but always showed the HD icon with a yellow exclamation sign over it.
Because of work pressure, after 48 hours with no improvement, I wound up buying a new iMac, so can work but still would love to have my iBook back, plus use of my Printer and scanner again. Last night finally managed to Panther reinstalled after erasing 4 times and many failed attempts at install. Everything seemingly fine but Snow Leopard first reinstall failed so erased once more. Second time SL installed but gave a warning in red saying something to the effect that as I am installing an older OS over a newer one, there will be issues. This leads me to believe that somehow, despite Time Machines and now 5 separate Hard Drive erasures through utilities, Mountain Lion is STILL on there? How on earth can I get rid of it and return just to Snow leopard. Any help really welcomed as I am at the end of my tether but don't want to give up on my old faithful (until now) iBook
PS: Sorry if I post in the wrong section

First, that cannot be an iBook G4 as that machine cannot run Snow Leopard let alone Mountain Lion.  To run Snow Leopard it has to be an Intel processor, not a G4.  What does it show as the Model Identifier in About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Model Identifier?
Second, if you have erased the hard drive there should not be remnants of any prior content.  Even though Disk Warrior is saying nothing is wrong with the hard drive, it sounds as though there are problems.  You may want to consider simply replacing the hard drive so there are no questions about faults.  A good source is OWC, http://www.macsales.com where they also have on-line videos showing how to do the replacement.
Third, you could also try again to restart using the Snow Leopard DVD/CD and use Disk Utility on that install disk to erase again, and do it a couple times, then try to install.  If it continues to refuse, then it sounds as though there is a fault with the hard drive.

  • Large number of federated contacts causes problems with client

    Hi,
We have added a large number of federated contacts to our Lync clients (using Vytru Contact Manager) when we do this the behavior of the client is bad, presence information is not updated for internal or external contacts, messaging is sporadic sometime
message go through sometimes they don't.
Is there any limit / recommendation for the number of Federated contacts? we have added around 230 contacts.
    Andrew.

Solved problem of synching iPad with desktop containing large photo library (20,000 photos): In summary, solution was to rename, copy and live iPHoto Library to XHD and reduce size of library on home (desktop) drive.
In the home directory, rename "iPhoto Library" to "iPhoto Global" (or any other name you want), and copy into an external hard drive via simple drag and drop method.
Then, go back to the newly renamed iPhoto Global and rename it again, to iPhoto 2010. Now, open iPhoto by holding down the Alt/Option key and opening iPhoto. This provides option to choose library iPhoto 2010. Open the library, and eliminate every photo before 2010. This got us down to a few thousand photos and a much smaller library. Synch this smaller library with the iPad.
Finally, I suggest downloading a program "iPhoto Library Manager" and using this to organize and access the two libraries you now have (which could be 2, 10 or however many different libraries you want to use.) The iPhoto program doesn't want you to naturally have more than one library, but a download called iPhoto Library Manager allows user to segregate libraries for different purposes (eg. personal, work, 2008, 2009, etc.). Google iPhoto Library Manager, download, and look for links to video tutorials which were very helpful.
I did not experience any problems w/ iPhoto sequencing so can't address that concern.
    Good luck!

  • Bitmap Join Indexes Still Causing Problems

    Hello again,
I thought I had fixed this problem in a previous post, but it turns out I was incorrect. Once again, there is an issue with bitmap join indexes in Oracle 10g EE. I'm getting an empty result when I shouldn't be. Below I've pasted the output of a SQL session to illustrate the point, but here's a summary of what's in the trace:
I run a query and get an empty result. Then I drop a bitmap join index and re-run the query and get a result. Then I recreate the bitmap join index and run the same query again, but get an empty result. Then I show the explain plan for the query.
This is clearly wrong behavior, so I'm wondering if there are any restrictions, perhaps not well documented, on when it's ok to use bitmap join indexes. For example, what's the maximum length allowed on a varchar field that the bitmap index is on? Is there some cardinality threshold? I'm aware that bitmap indexes are intended for columns with low cardinality, but even if that's not the case, it shouldn't affect the correctness of the result, only the computation time. Does anyone have an idea of what exactly is going wrong here? Do I have any chance of fixing it?

Well, I didn't finally get an execution plan that uses the bitmap join index. The following statement with hint will use it, but I'm somewhat surprised that the optimizer doesn't choose this index without a hint. I'm still looking for more knowledge on this issue, so if you have any experiences to share regarding these bitmap join indexes, please do post.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Error 1714 & 1603 - Still causing problems despite some great posts!

    Help!
Although this is not a new problem I'm posting it here again as a new thread as I have yet to find solution (and it's driving me crazy!). When attempting to install iTunes, I get the following dialogue box:-
Error 1714. The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. (OK that message box and another message box appears) Error 1603. Fatal error during installation (OK that message box out) and the setup wizard then rolls back.
I have searched through nearly 50 other threads and followed every instruction to the letter (but to no avail).
    So far I have attempted the following (and more);
Deactivating antivirus and spyware using msconfig.
Installing and uninstalling Quicktime separately (I have tried this with versions 6 and 7).
Downloading a fresh version of iTunes.
Cleaning windows folders of any undeleted program files etc.
    Cleaning temporary directories.
Installing the latest version of Windows Installer.
Automatically cleaning the registry using a registry cleaner.
Manually cleaning the registry using Regedit.
Downloading + using Windows INstall Clean UP
+ anything else that the other threads suggested.
    Can anyone help me?
I'm using a HP Pavilion notebook with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 and SP 2. This came pre-installed with ITunes 4.7 which I subsequently removed.

After several hours of frustration with this I finally gave up and opted for a reinstall of Windows (fortunately I have an external hard drive to back up to).
This solved the problem and iTunes installed perfectly without hitch.
If you encounter this problem I hope you have more luck than me!

  • Safari can't connect to the server - still causing problems

    Hi
I have read through several topics relating to this problem - but have yet to be able to resolve the issue. So apologies in advance if it has already been answered in one of the many threads.
I have 2 computers both working off the same broadband hub connection.
Both have the same version of the OS and the same version of Safari: OS 10.4.11 and Safari 4.0.4
I have checked that the network settings are the same and all parental control settings are the same.
The laptop will access sites that the desktop will not.
Can anyone shed some light as to why numerous sites I try to access on the iMac result in a Safari message "Safari can’t connect to the server".
Same applies when I attempt the same sites with Firefox.
I have emptied caches, resolved all font issues, addressed terminal and plists etc. etc. - all to no avail.
    Help!!!

Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.
You could also try these codes as well: 4.2.2.1 & 4.2.2.2
If you use a Router, make sure it has the latest firmware installed.

  • Korean language pack causes problems with Outlook email width

This has been an ongoing problem for me for some time now and I'm hoping someone can provide a resolution to it.
I had to install a Korean language pack in order to read Korean Word documents.  The problem is that after installing this language pack, it causes some of my emails to appear a lot wider than they should and wider than they appear for others receiving
    the same email.
There seems to be a trend in that it happens with emails that contain Chinese or Japanese languages.
I uninstalled the language pack and the problem went away.  Then recently I reinstalled the language pack and the problem returned.
Does anyone know why this would happen and if there is any way to fix it without having to uninstall the Korean language pack?

Well, I tried installing all updates (including optional ones), but that did not fix the issue.
    Any other ideas?

  • Acrobat causing problems with Outlook/Word

The following sequence generates an error
Open an e-mail message in Outlook using Word as my editor
Close the message and close Outlook
The error is "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."  If I disable Acrobat in Office and Outlook (when Acrobat is installed), I don't get the error.  So, the error seems to be Acrobat related.  The computer is running Windows XP, Office 2003 and Acrobat Pro 9.2.0.  Windows and Office have all the most recent service packs and updates.  Previous versions of Acrobat have been installed on this computer at one time (version 7 I think and perhaps other versions).  The computer also has Adobe Reader 8.1.7 installed.
What can I do to get rid of these error messages without disabling Acrobat in Office?
    Thanks for your help.
    Curt

I had noted your comment about earlier versions, but it has been a problem for several versions. I had not heard about it lately, so it may have been an issue with WORD 2003 and not WORD 2007. WORD 2007 and Acrobat have other problems, but I have not heard about the Outlook issue.
The message you listed is posted in the MS knowledgebase and one of the items (not necessarily related to Acrobat) recommends an update to OFFICE. That is something that is often overlooked and may be is the fix you are looking for. At least it would be a good idea to run an update on OFFICE and see if that fixes the problem. Even if it does not, the update is probably a good idea (most folks never seem to think about updating office, though Windows updates almost daily at times). Bill

  • ICloud causing problems with Outlook 2010

Every time I select an email in any of my accounts an html file download box comes up, the only way to stop this is to disable icloud in Outlook  file>options>add ins then manage addins. I can't be bothered with this so will disable icloud completely - waste of time

  • HD space problems - scanning all mailboxes for large attachments

    Hello Exchange experts
I have only 5 GB left on a database that has 150 MailBoxes.Until I connect some external storage to the server, i was wondering if there is some way on the server level to scan all the mailboxes for large attachments and delete them to save some space. I
    have exchange. 2010.

First make sure database is consuming the space. This command will show you the database file size and path
    Get-MailboxDatabase -Status | select ServerName,Name,DatabaseSize,EdbFilePath
Please take an exchange known backup if edb file size is not consuming the database drive space..
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876854(v=exchg.150).aspx.
I suggest you create a newdatabase and move all mailboxes to the newly created database.
You could attach a HDD and create a mailbox database in that and move all mailboxes and delete the default database (after check this) and create new one in the
place of default database move back all your mailboxes back from the newly connected HDD to this database. You can use this command to move mailboxes in bulk. Please check
    this
    Get-Mailbox –Database ‘Mailbox Database 001’ | New-MoveRequest –TargetDatabase ‘Mailbox Database 002’
If you dont have enough space you could try defragmentation. But you make sure you have white space or no
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/rmilne/archive/2013/08/20/how-to-check-database-white-space-in-exchange.aspx
Or this script remove all attachement that size >1000 KB
first creat mailbox called it test , send many attachements to this this mailbox , in the code below change the line Get-Mailbox yourUserName to Get-Mailbox test
    Import-Module -Name "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange\Web Services\1.1\Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll"
    $credentials = New-Object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.WebCredentials(ADMINUSERNAME, PASSWORD)

    $folderId = New-Object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.FolderId([Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.WellKnownFolderName]::MsgFolderRoot, $mailbox.primarySmtpAddress.ToString())
    $folder = [Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.Folder]::Bind($service, $folderId)
    $folders = $service.FindFolders($folderId, $folderFilter, $folderView)
    foreach ($subFolder in $folders.Folders)
    write-host $subFolder.displayName

    foreach ($item in $items.Items)
    write-host $item.subject
    $item.Load()

I once created a new field (with ID as TestID1) in a certain region through personalization. Later after deleting it, when navigated back to the page where I did my personalization, the webpage started showing error indicated something like:
    "...failed to load, missing TestID1..."
Can anyone please explain me why the deleted TestID1 causing problems?
    Regards,

Did you chage something else to reference the fiield? If you set the profile '%Disable%Personalizations%' you can get back into the page to investigate.

  • Problems with Outlook WebAccess after 3.0 update -anyone else?

I updated to the 3.0 iphone software and now I am having problems using Outlook Web Access. I can read emails, but anytime I try to reply or forward an email, I get prompted for my username/password, and even if I enter ir or not, nothing happens, it just brings me back to the email I was trying to reply or forward.
What is even weirder is that a draft is actually created when I go into drafts, but it is not formatted correctly to begin typing (it brings up the text of the old email as the top of the message), so this is not a viable workaround.
I have tried this on two different iPhones that have updated to 3.0, and get the same results.
I never had this problem before I updated the software and this is a critical issue as this is the only way I can access my work email on the iPhone.
any help would be much appreciated. thanks

I had problems with our company OWA on my new iPhone 3g - Safari would crash (close) each time I tried to create a new message.
Found this thread and others, so went to Settings / Safari and cleared cache, cookies, & history. Also temporarily turned off pop-up blocking AND turned on the developer debugging to see if I could get an error.
Went back into Safari & OWA, and can now send emails. Turned the pop-up blocking back on, and can still send & receive emails fine with OWA. Turned developer debugging off, and can still send & receive emails w/OWA.

  • I deleted the 4oD app from my iPad but it still appears in the list in Settings. How do I get rid of that? It is causing problems when they issue updates as it apparently thinks I still have it when I don't.

Can any one help me get rid of a deleted app 4oD that still appears in the Settings list. I deleted it from the home screen and Spotlight search confirms it has gone. It is causing problems because I get notified of updates and I cannot get rid of them either. I have tried re-downloading via my MacBook because there isn't a download option from the iPad (App Store clearly think I still have it when I don't) then deleting again but the listing in Settings remains.
    It is really irritating me.
    Thanks.

Have you tried deleting the App within the Settings menu (rather than from the Home Screen)?
    Settings>General>Usage>
From the Apps list, find the App (press "Show all Apps" if the app is not in the immediately shown list), tap on the app you wish to delete, then tap "Delete App"
