Large .bpel file size vs performance

how does large .bpel file size affect performance, say that I have a process of .9 mgb size with around 10000 line how does this affect the instance creation ,fetching and message creation during the process life cycle.

MacDLS,

It's probably not a very fast drive in the first place...
I know that 5MB isn't very big, but for some reason it takes a lot longer to open these scanned files in photoshop (from aperture) than the 5MB files from my camera. Any idea why this is?
Have a look at the file size of one of those externally edited files for a clue - it won't be 5MB. When Aperture sends a file out for editing, it creates either a PSD or an uncompressed TIFF after applying any image adjustments that you've applied in Aperture, and sends that out. Depending on the settings in Aperture's preferences this will be in either 8-bit or 16-bit.
As a 16-bit uncompressed TIFF, a 44 megapixel image weighs in at a touch over 150MB...

  • Large folio file size

We are half way through a book that comprises 100 single page articles. However it is already nearly 500 MB and this isn't sustainable.
Does the following affect the file size:
Is the Folio file size affected by the number of individual articles, would it be smaller if we had stacks of say 10 articles each with 10 pages rather than 100 single pages?
Every page has a two picture (JPG) object state, the first image is an extreme elargement of the image that visible only for a about a second before the full frame image appears. Each page has a caption using Pan overlay that can be dragged into the page using a small tab.Does an Object State increase the file size over and above the images contained within it?
We have reduced the JPGs to the minimum acceptable quality and there is no video in the Folio.
Any ideas would be much appreciated?

800 MB worth of video sounds crazy.
Of course, a high number of videos can bring you to that.
I saw bigger dps apps. I think the apple limit lies around 4 gb (remember,
that is more than 25% of a whole 16 gb iPad)
The mp4 video codec does a really good job while keeping the quality high.
And the human eye is more forgiving to quality when it comes to moving
    images compared to still imagery.

  • HELP!! Very Large Spooling / File Size after Data Merge

My question is: If the image is the same and only the text is different why not use the same image over and over again?
    Here is what happens...
Using CS3 and XP (P4 2.4Ghz, 1GB Ram, 256MB Video Card) I have taken a postcard pdf (the backside) placed it in a document, then I draw a text box. Then I select a data source and put the fields I wish to print (Name, address, zip, etc.) in the text box.
Now, under the Create Merged Document menu I select Multiple Records and then use the Multiple Records Layout tab to adjust the placement of this postcard on the page. I use the preview multiple records option to lay out 4 postcards on my page. Then I merge the document (it has 426 records).
Now that my merged document is created with four postcards per page and the mailing data on each card I go to print. When I print the file it spools up huge! The PDF I orginally placed in the document is 2.48 MB but when it spools I can only print 25 pages at a time and that still takes FOREVER. So again my question is... If the image is the same and only the text is different why not use the same image over and over again?
How can I prevent the gigantic spooling? I have tried putting the PDF on the master page and then using the document page to create the merged document and still the same result. I have also tried createing a merged document with just the addresses then adding the the pdf on the Master page afterward but again, huge filesize while spooling. Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated :)

    SYMPTOMS
When you print a document that contains lots of raster data, the size of the Enhanced Metafile (EMF) spool file may become very large. Files such as Adobe .pdf files or Microsoft Word .doc documents may contain lots of raster data. Adobe .pdf files and Word .doc documents that contain gradients are even more likely to contain lots of raster data.
    CAUSE
This problem occurs because Graphics Device Interface (GDI) does not compress raster data when the GDI processes EMF spool files and generates EMF spool files.
This problem is very prominent with printers that support higher resolutions. The size of the raster data increases by four times if the dots-per-inch (dpi) in the file increases by two times. For example, a .pdf file of 1 megabyte (MB) may generate an EMF spool file of 500 MB. Therefore, you may notice that the printing process decreases in performance.
    RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, bypass EMF spooling. To do this, follow these steps:1. Open the properties dialog box for the printer.
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. Click the Print directly to the printer option.
Note This will disable all print processor-based features such as the following features: N-up
    Watermark
    Booklet printing
    Driver collation
    Scale-to-fit

    STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
    MORE INFORMATION
    Steps to reproduce the problem
    1. Open the properties dialog box for any inbox printer.
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. Make sure that the Print directly to the printer option is not selected.
    4. Click to select the Keep printed documents check box.
    5. Print an Adobe .pdf document that contains many groups of raster data.
    6. Check the size of the EMF spool file.

  • Large PDF file sizes when exporting from InDesign

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew why some PDF file sizes are so large when exporting from ID.
I create black and white user manuals with ID CS3. We post these online, so I try to get the file size down as much as possible.
There is only one .psd image in each manual. The content does not have any photographs, just Illustrator .eps diagrams and line drawings. I am trying to figure out why some PDF file sizes are so large.
Also, why the file sizes are so different.
For example, I have one ID document that is 3MB.
Exporting it at the smallest file size, the PDF file comes out at 2MB.
Then I have another ID document that is 10MB.
Exporting to PDF is 2MB (the same size as the smaller ID document)... this one has many more .eps's in it and a lot more pages.
Then I have another one that the ID size is 8MB and the PDF is 6MBwhy is this one so much larger than the 10MB ID document?
Any ideas on why this is happening and/or how I can reduce the file size.
I've tried adjusting the export compression and other settings but that didn't work.
I also tried to reduce them after the fact in Acrobat to see what would happen, but it doesn't reduce it all that much.
    Thanks for any help,
    Cathy

    > Though, the sizes of the .eps's are only about 100K to 200K in size and they are linked, not embedded.
But they're embedded in the PDF.
    > It's just strange though because our marketing department as an 80 page full color catalog that, when exported it is only 5MB. Their ID document uses many very large .tif files. So, I am leaning toward it being an .eps/.ai issue??
Issue implies there's something wrong, but I think this is just the way
    it's supposed to work.
Line drawings, while usually fairly compact, cannot be lossy compressed.
The marketing department, though, may compress their very large TIFF
files as much as they like (with a corresponding loss of quality). It's
entirely possible to compress bitmaps to a smaller size than the
drawings those bitmaps were made from. You could test this yourself.
Just open a few of your EPS drawings in Photoshop, save as TIFF, place
in ID, and try various downsampling schemes. If you downsample enough,
you'll get the size of the PDF below a PDF that uses the same graphics
as line drawing EPS files. But you may have to downsample them beyond
    recognition...

  • LV 8.2 Vs. LV 7.1 and large VI file size

    Hi,
I upgraded a large SW developed in LV 7.1 to LV 8.2. After some error corrections I saw that a large Vi in LV 7.1 (a Vi template .vit) that was 18 MB, in LV8.2 was 2.6 MB !
The editing of this Vi is very very very slow, and it's unacceptable. When I save it I can have a coffee break !!
Also, to open the reference to this Vi it's necessary 35-40s but in LV 7.1 2 seconds were enough.
Finally I see also a reduction of the file dimension of some Vi that in LV 7.1 had a large file size (5-8 MB).
Some suggestion about this big-big problem ?
It's possible that LV 8.2 compress (like ZIP) large VI ?
    Thanks and regards

The extreme difference in file size indicates that LabVIEW is able to "squeeze" your vi down much more than the typical %50 that ZLIB is capable of. LabVIEW 8.0 introduced compression of the vi. See this LAVA thread. If your VI contains items that are highly compressible, (BMPs, large strings of repeating text?) then the CPU must work more to "enflate" and "deflate" the file when loaded or saved (development environment slower). Your reported values lead me to beleive there is "SOMETHING" in your VI that could be improved.
The other solution is to improve the computer's effeciency; start by cleaning up the hard disk and optimizing it, then upgrade memory, then as a last resort upgrade the CPU. LV 8.2 takes more memory. If your physical RAM is not up to par and if your disk drive is full, you might be paging to disk alot and that would slow you down.
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T

  • Very large Keynote file size

One of my Keynote files has grown to 704 MB and now takes forever to save. How can I reduce the size of this file? I suspect some photos in the file are larger in MB size then they need to be.
    Thanks

You'd need to try exporting your images from iPhoto as smaller images before using them in Keynote. I'm not sure if there's a simple way to compress the images that are already in Keynote.

  • Unusually Large Song File Size

I've noticed some of my songs (protected and unprotected) have unusually large file sizes. At first I found multiple instances of 100MB sized files. I made a playlist to collect them and found more than 100 songs that are larger than 50MB.
All the songs are set at a maximum 128kbps bit rate, that usually translates to 1MB/minute, right? Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

You have a screen grab but don't show it. You need to show what you have as your description isn't filling in the blanks.
From the iTunes Help Menu with a search for 'protected'
<*Usage rights for iTunes Store purchases*
Many of the songs you purchase from the iTunes Store are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM). These protected purchases can be:
Played on up to five computers
    Synced with your iPod
Synced with or streamed to your Apple TV
Burned to audio CDs or DVDs (you can burn a song an unlimited number of times, and as part of a playlist up to seven times)
The iTunes Store also offers songs without DRM protection, from participating record labels. These DRM-free songs, called "iTunes Plus," have no usage restrictions and feature higher-quality encoding.
The first time you buy an iTunes Plus song, you specify whether to make all future purchases iTunes Plus versions (when available). You can change this setting by accessing your account information on the iTunes Store.
If you already have iTunes Store purchases that are now available as iTunes Plus downloads, you may upgrade your existing purchases. To do so, visit the iTunes Store and follow the onscreen instructions.>
As noted you can burn a iTS tune to an audio CD - you can figure out the rest.

  • LARGER Exported File sizes

I recently upgraded to LR V2 (also use PS CS3)
For some reason my exported file sizes have increased immensely
Typically I would convert from RAW to TIFF with the following settings:
    11" x 17" print size
    compression: none
    Adobe RGB1998
    16 bit
    resolution 300 DPI
These files would convert at about 90MB (manageable on my system)
They are now converting at a whopping 400MB (aging system can't handle this!)
Is this the new LR V2 standard, is there some setting I need to change?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Rich

No, you must be doing something wrong there. 300 ppi (NOT DPI!) at 11x17 and 16 bits uncompressed should be 90MB as you can calculate with simple math. If you enable compression (highly recommended for tiffs - it's lossless compression) you should be able to cut that in half.

  • Large TIF file errors/erratic performance

Sorry for the redundancy, but I can't seem to find any clear answer on what the max file size (either dimension or MB) is before Aperture fails entirely. I'm scanning medium format on a Nikon LS-9000, which is resulting in ~8500x10500 TIF files of ~180MB (for a 16-bit grey.) Aperture will import the file, but then typically crash a number of times immediately after import while generating thumbnail/preview. I'll then generally see the thumbnail go black after making any adjustments to the image, and it will stay that way. Lightroom handles these files quite handily; I like Aperture and the process of migrating my sizeable library would be onerous at a minimum. What's even more frustrating is that iphoto '09 will readily support the same image file that seems to be choking Aperture to death.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Matt.

    Yep,
There is no "answer" for this but I can validate your experience. My medium format scans are not viable in Aperture at 4000DPI 16bit. Way to painful when you can coax it to work and it doesn't work for very long. In other words Aperture uses so many resources trying to deal with this size file that it is either idiotically slow or then breaks.
The good news is that CS4 processes 500+ meg Tiffs way better than any other Photoshop ever did, even in 32bit mode - I cannot wait for the 64bit upgrade from Adobe when Snow Leopard comes out. I would imagine that Aperture will get the 64bit treatment sooner or later and all will be fine with massive files.

  • Premiere Pro CS6, large project file size - crashing etc

Working on a project in Premiere Pro CS6 - also incorporating after effects and using 2 external plugins (Beauty Box and Factory Pro FX).  Project is over 500MB, lots of comps, titles etc.  project seems to be corrupt on my machine. .The project crashes continually. I cannot save my work, I cannot export, I cannot create XML and media is linking incorrectly.  When I pull the project in on my laptop (separate machine) which has CC 2014 running, the project is FINE.  That said - I need to work off of the more powerful machine to do this job - so need to find a way to troubleshoot.  Note - project opens on my partner's machine, she can save + export, etc - however the media in still linking incorrectly on her machine as well (note partner does not have the 2 plugins, beauty box and factory Pro FX) - that said, it still links to the wrong media.
We have worked out a work-arond where we pull all of the AE sequences out of Premiere and into separate AE project which has made the project workable again but we know something is WRONG and we need to fix for future ASAP.
    please help!

  • Very large bdump file sizes, how to solve?

    Hi gurus,
I currently always find my disk space is not enough, after checking, it is the oraclexe/admin/bdump, there's currently 3.2G for it, my database is very small, only holding datas of 10mb.
It didn't happen before, only currently.
I don't know why it happened, I have deleted some old files in that folder, but today I found it is still very large compare to my database.
I am running an apex application with xe, the applcaitions works well, we didn't see anything wrong, but only the bdump file very big.
any tip to solve this? thanks

  • Image size becoming 30X larger in file size once on PDF

Hello all. I'm working with Adobe Designer 7.0. I have a PDF that I made that comes out to 1.25MB. But when I try to put our logo on it, which is 185k in size, it jumps to a total of 2.65MB. Then when we put on our 2nd logo, which is 550k in size, it jumps to 8.65MB! Why does such a small image file make the PDF so much larger? Am I doing something wrong? I've changed the images from jpeg to gifs and bmps, but the same things happens. It's as though the image is becomes 5X to 30X larger when going onto the form. The logos are important, but we need to keep the size of the doc small to have it accessible on our website. Thank you.

    Hi Chiefnet,
You have the wrong forum here. Adobe Designer 7.0 is part of the LiveCycle suites of products. The designer here is Output Designer and is part of Adobe Central Output Server.

  • Large PDF file size in Webdynpro JAVA

    Hi All
I have imported a PDF in Webdynpro JAVA using InteractiveForm UI element. During application execution the size of the PDF seems drastically increased and the application performance is very poor.
If I make the PDF form as readonly then the size seems normal.
Any suggestions on the size increase issue with interactive PDF forms in Webdynpro JAVA.
    EP 7.01 SP5
    ADSSAP 7.01 SP5 (1000.7.01.5.0.20090825153742)
    Thanks in advance

When I make enabled property to false in the UI element, then the size is less than 300KB
This is ok, it works this way.
I think some additions are happening at runtime to the PDF and the size is increasing.
Open the file in WD and save it immediately. Work with the form and save it again. Compare.
I am using lifecycle designer 7.1 for developments.
If you can, upgrade to 8.1, you´re efficiency will improve significantly. And of course.. your user experience will change;))

  • Large AI file size

I have a ai file that is very large. There are no linked files and everything is line art. If I copy anything from that file to another file it automatically makes the new file large as well. When I copy the artwork to the new file, numerous unused swatches also appear in the new file. Even after deleting all of the unused swatches the file is still very large. Any suggestions on how to find out where all of the swatches are coming from and what is making the file so large?

Define large. Tell us the dimensions of the artwork and the format you saved as.
You say there are no linked files, but are there any embedded files and are they any raster effects used, such as Glow, Feather, Blur, Drop Shadow, etc.?
You say there are unused swatches pasted it. I think that is not possible. The swatches will only paste in if they are used. You may have some straight lines with fills. The fills won’t show because there is no area in the object, but the fill attribute still exists. You may also have very thin lines which use a swatch. You might have stacked appearances on some objects which would only show the topmost fill or stroke, yet still have to save all the appearances that are obscured.
And you might just have a very complex file with a lot of paths and points. That can make for a large file, depending on your definition of large and the amount of data required.

  • Ways to handle large volume data (file size = 60MB) in PI 7.0 file to file

    Hi,
In a file to file scenario (flat file to xml file), the flat file is getting picked up by FCC and then send to XI. In xi its performing message mapping and then XSL transformation in a sequence.
The scenario is working fine for small files (size upto 5MB) but when the input flat file size is more then 60 MB, then XI is showing lots of problem like (1) JCo call error or (2) some times even XI is stoped and we have to strat it manually again to function properly.
Please suggest some way to handle large volume (file size upto 60MB) in PI 7.0 file to file scenario.
    Best Regards,
    Madan Agrawal.

    Hi Madan,
If every record of your source file was processed in a target system, maybe you could split your source file into several messages by setting up this in Recordset Per Messages parameter.
However, you just want to convert you .txt file into a .xml file. So, try firstly to setting up
    EO_MSG_SIZE_LIMIT parameter in SXMB_ADM.
However this could solve the problem in Inegration Engine, but the problem will persit in Adapter Engine, I mean,  JCo call error ...
Take into account that file is first proccessed in Adapter Engine, File Content Conversion and so on...
and then it is sent to the pipeline in Integration Engine.
    Carlos
