Large cells managment

I'm actually using Pages'09.
(I have this same problem with many different versions of MacOS X I  use:
Mac OS X 10.6 → 10.9).
I'm working with tables and large cell contents (well in fact I would like to work this way).
When reaching the bottom border of the page, the text I type continue to go within my table cell.
But I can't see it anymore. I can't manage it. I can't even select it to put it in another manually created cell.
I expected that upon reaching the bottom border of the page,
my table would automatically create a new cell with same characteristics on the next page
and that my text would automatically flow on this new cell.
This isn't what happen.
From many discussions about this function I understood that this function isn't provided
within Pages'09.
How may I reach this expected feature?
I haven't been able to find in any Pages'13 advertising if this basic function is provided.
Before suggesting any improvement to Apple about this basic function,
and before trying to buy, install and check new versions I don't actually need,
could someone tell me if this function is provided by any more recent version of Pages?

Pages can't do what you want it to do. It isn't Word. Nor does Pages 5 have it. Pages 5 is a crippled version of Pages.
You need to split your text into more cells as cells can't split over pages breaks. The table has also to be inline. You have probably read this over and over and it is still that way.
I myself find it very difficult reading a lot of text in table cells. Using linked Text Boxes would be an alternative rout to go.

  • Large Cells Spread Over Different Pages

How do I have large cells spread over a few pages, rather than try to fit onto its own page?
Everytime I create a large cell it pushes itself to the next page, so that the smaller cells before it are left on the previous page (which now is only a quarter full now)?
    Thanks.

Pages can't split a large/tall cell between pages. Do not have that much text in one cell. Divide the text over many cells. Tables in Pages can only split between rows.

  • Large document management question

I've worked with InDesign since it came out, and have pretty much left Word behind for anything other than simple word processing. I've used the Book feature many times to co-ordinate and synchronize long documents, and find it extremely helpful.
However, for my latest project I need to put together a 32 document planning application (I don't know how many pages yet).
It will involve content from multiple consultants such as engineers (text+diagrams), accountants+surveyors (spreadsheets), planners (text+diagrams+photos). The final submission needs to be in PDF format.
At the moment I'm weighing up two options. Option 1: the consultants submit all the raw information, and I format it to come up with the final product. I would need to set and keep tight deadlines for delivery to me; receive 'raw' work as close to 100% complete as possible; and have good time management skills. I would be able to keep the look very consistent, as I have the power to change everything.
Option 2 would be the consultants doing all their own work in templates (with fairly loose style guidelines) that I setup in Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint etc. They would submit the work much closer to the deadline, and I would begin formatting before the final submission. This seems like it would be very efficient production of the information, allowing the consultants lots of control (and time) over their work. The look could be less consistent, as I won't have as much time to change anything that is 'stylistically' incorrect.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the better option?
Is it simply a case of Option 1:style vs. Option 2:efficiency?
Are there any other potential setups that might work?
Are Microsoft programs easy to synchronize on style - in the same way InDesign is?
    Any thoughts much appreciated.
This message was posted in the InD Mac forum, but I've posted here as I know there are some long doc experts here too.

Ashley, as an example of what I meant, I often set up a Word template for a client. I add a bunch of styles named according to my practice, but I don't care what attributes the styles have. I usually give the client a crib sheet as well that indicates what styles should be applied to the various parts. Then when I flow the file from the client into InD where I have set up styles and formating (using the same style names), the Word styles map to the InD styles and I am ahead of the game.
As for pricing, in this case I would either do as Richard does, quote a price for a certain amount of work, and then an hourly rate after that, or see if the client will pay an hourly rate to do a certain portion of the job, say 10% and then give a quote for the rest based on that. The latter has worked for me on some similar sounding projects when the client was willing.

  • Pages chart problem with large cells

I have some documents on Pages that include charts with lots of text.  If the text in a cell is longer than will fit on the page, it becomes hidden because the next page starts at the top of the next cell.  Making the font smaller isn't enough.  The document has been converted from a word document, although I would hope that wouldn't make a difference.

Oops I meant table not chart.  It's the text in a table cell that is too long for the cell on one page, and disappears behind the bottom of the cell.  It's like the cell is a window on the text, and I can't see what is below the window ledge.

  • Very large project management - need advice?

I am editing a 6 one hour episode series. I am doing this with a single library and about 20 events. Each event holds the footage keywords for the original Prores source files. I have the 6 major episode timelines created and also about 20 more timelines for interviews (I have 80 interviews that are subtitled). My FCP library files is 1.82TB size.
I am running a new Mac Pro and a new 8TB Raid 0 drive (2x4Tb). This started to freeze once or twice a day while editing.
I am now thinking to make this into 6 libraries - one for each episode and with just 3 or 4 timelines needed (sequences) for each episode. Would this help? I read that FCPX cannot handle a large project like mine and long timelines?
    Thanks.

Just to point out that FCP X should not allow optimizing of  iFrame media, which of cours Pro Res is,
Have you seen any info on splitting into smaller libraries - not seen anything on this?
I just recently did this to reverse course on an early organizational decision I'd come to regret. Basically created new libraries and moved events to them from within the app.
But I would definitely consider Luis' suggestion about consolidating and working with external media.

  • Print large cells without page break

I am trying to print a continuous spreadsheet. The print tries to keep a cell intact with tons of wasted paper in between. How do I turn off that "keep cell together when printing" concept?

I'm thinking there is something not processed in the report so forcing the report to process everything up to the last page before printing may help. Try the following code before sending the report to the viewer:
    Dim prc As New CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportPageRequestContext
    rptDoc.FormatEngine.GetLastPageNumber(prc)
This may slow down the time it takes for the report to come up as the whole report will need to be processed, formatted, etc.
Also, make sure you have SP 1 for CR 10.5:

  • Image resize in CS5 vs cell size in LR3 for large print quality

What is the benefit of image resizing(larger) with resampling in photoshop than creating a larger cell size and increasing the DPI in LR3 if the file is to be printed just out of LR3.  Is there a significant improvement in image quality if this is done in CS5, if so then what about the need for fractal program.  I am taking my images with a D3x and making prints up to 20x30 on Epson 7900?

Interoperation from LR is far superior to the basic in PS CS 4, whilst this may have improved in CS 5 I haven't tried it and wouldn't expect it to be any better than LR 3. The print module in LR can also make it all a lot easier to do than using PS. Some may still prefer Genuine Fractals (I have a copy), however I have felt no need for it since LR 2. Any resizing I require is done using LR

  • Merge multiple cells and rows

    Hello,
I am trying to merge multiple cells and have found that I can do thi easily by selecting the adjancent row cells and using the TABLE - MERGE CELLS command.  However, If I want to apply the same merge to multiple rows, I can find noquick way to do this other than selecting each set of cells and using the TABLE - MERGE CELLS command each time.  Here is an example of what I want to do:
Here is the Numbers spreadsheet as normal:
Here is cell B2 and C2 merged:
Now what I want to do is the same process for rows 3 to 10.  However, when I try to select the section and use the TABLE - MERGE CELLS command, I get on large cell rather than split rows of merged cells as seen below:
Any idea how I can or if I can accomplish this task?
    Thanks in advance,

Maybe you would have to create the folder Numbers and even the folder Applications by yourself.
Select the range of cells to treat
Go to the Scripts Menu, choose Numbers, then choose “merge_row_by_row”
The script merge the cells of every row included in the selection.

To make the Script menu appear:
Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
Select the “Show Script Menu in menu bar” checkbox.
    Under 10.6.x,
go to the General panel of AppleScript Editor’s Preferences dialog box
and check the “Show Script menu in menu bar” option.

  • Managing JSP files (.java, .class) size in working directory

Our new web application automatically generates JSP pages which
causes the working directory holding the JSP files to grow
too large to manage, does Weblogic have a alternate way to
compile JSP without permanently storing the .java, .class files
              on disk.
Maybe in cache were they can be managed, cleaned up similar
to how a database cache works.
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.
              THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Just don't look in the classfiles directory and everything will
              be fine.
WLS will only leave the .java files if you ask it to keep them (keepgenerated).
If you don't keep the .class files on disk then WLS will have to
recompile them every time it is restarted. If you have so many
JSPs you are having trouble managing them, you definitely don't
want to recompile everytime you restart WLS.
Last time I looked in our public_html there were 67000 JSP files.
We don't have any problems managing them.

  • Operations Manager - Site Role - Notification Server Windows Firewall Block Monitor

I'm getting this alert popping up in Opsman and was wondering what rule was triggering it. It seems as though the monitor lists rule:
    <RuleId>D07ACE61-FB84-4461-9F52-ABBA07C2EE3A</RuleId>
    but when I ask powershell:
    PS C:\> Get-SCOMRule -Id "D07ACE61-FB84-4461-9F52-ABBA07C2EE3A"
    PS C:\>
    I get no love.
At any rater I'm wondering if perhaps I'm getting this rule because the firewall is disabled? Currently (working on changing this) windows servers run with firewalls off. We have a large firewall managed by the security group who we submit rules to so traffic
    can pass.
I think this is checking for a port but i'm not sure. I read the following article and it mentions make sure that port 10123 is open. When I check the rules I see that we have a rule that allows TCP 10123, and also that we have clients making connections
to the site server over that port.
So, is it merely because the firewall is disabled?

  • How is the Cell Boundary Recommendations for 2.4Ghz Data survey in 802.11N

How is the Cell Boundary Recommendations for 2.4Ghz Data survey in 802.11N?

bYou can use N on 2.4GHz. You will have to use AES encryption or open SSID, 5.0 GHz channel bonding is to give 40MHz wide channels and double the data rate, plus a little as it can reuse the edge frequecies.
Basically you have upto MCS15 144Mbps at the top end per channel, don't bond 2.4GHz as there are not enogh non overlapping channels.
As for the low end it all depends. I would certainly disable the 802.11b data rates as a minimum but that means you still have very large cells and potential for interference. generally I would look at 24Mbps and switch everything off below that especially if you have very few 802.11b clients.
