Large email stuck in my outbox

My Mail program has frozen!! I tried to send an email with a file attached to it. I accidentally attached the entire folder the file was in instead of the file itself. The folder is 250Mbs. I realised what I did, and tried to stop it sending, the only way was to force quit Mail. Now Mail seems to be trying to send this folder and wont receive any emails. The activity monitor is stuck half way, I have left it for a while but still no joy.
Can I reset re install or something else to get Mail working again.
I use a .mac account and this works fine on my other mac.
Thanks for any help.
Alf

Sounds like you constipated your email program!
Here is the Ex Lax:  Go into the Outbox and swipe Left/Right on the message.  A red DELETE button should appear.  Tap it to clear the message.

Very often emails stuck in my outbox, sometimes it can go 1 or 2 and leve the otheres in the box. Big problem for me help

Try to force close the mail app. Double tap the home button. You'll see the app icons and previews line up on the screen. Scroll sideways if needed to get to the mail preview. Flick that preview up and off the screen then single tap the home button to exit that mode. See if your mail will send.

  • Emails stuck in Mail outbox

Emails are stuck in the outbox, probably because the SMTP mail server is stuck on "Gmail (Offline)", with no online option. How do I get emails in my outbox to send? There are no emails with attachments in the outbox and this issue applies to my MacAir but not my iPhone.

    Hello camalama,
Thank you for all the information you provided about what is going on with your email on your MacBook Air.  You have already taken some good steps to isolate the issue to your MacBook Air.  I recommend following the steps in the following article to continue isolating and troubleshooting the issue you are experiencing with Mail:

  • Cant send emails stuck in my outbox?

Hi, have read just about every query and reply regarding messages stuck in outbox, and have tried just about every suggestion and tip going, but my mail still sits there stubbornly refusing to go.
I tried rebooting; I tried refreshing; I tried going into settings and verifying the email account; I tried re-entering the default account; I tried closing the app and restarting it; I tried double pressing the home button; you name it I tried it, but nothing works. Those emails are just sitting there refusing to budge.  I am at my wits end!
Please can somebody give me some more things to try?!  Thank you.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Why is email stuck in my outbox?

I keep getting this error message and can't send emails. Please help!!
Connections to the server “smtp.me.com” on the default ports timed out.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.

Switch iCloud Mail off (in System Preferences, then switch it back on)
smtp.me.com is an incorrect address, forcing iCloud to set Mail up again may fix it.
Just noticed your profile says Snow Leopard, is this what you have or did you upgrade?

Now everytime I go into my account, I get a little status bar on the bottom which looks like it's trying to send the email, but it never goes anywhere. How can I clear this email or just delete it? I don't even get an "Outbox" where I can go in and delete an outbound email.
    Help!

Thanks very much for the tip...I tried it, but I still get the "Sending 1 of 1" message.
    Any other suggestions?

Kindly need your assistance in below problem

There are lot of possible causes for this, the easiest thing to check however is to run Outlook in safe mode for a while and see if you can reproduce the issue. To launch Outlook in safe mode, either hold the CTRL key while pressing on the icon, or type
"Outlook /safe" in the run box.
Here's an article listing other common causes:

  • After migration from Xp to Windows 7 Email is getting stuck in the Outbox.

We are using USMT 4.0 with all requisite patches for Office 2010 to migrate users from Windows XP to Windows 7. Some of our users are up and running but after a day or two they are unable to send emails and everything is getting stuck in the Outbox.
At this time the only work around is to recreate the entire local profile. Once we do this the user is up and running without issues. Any assistance on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hi,
If the new profile was created, would the issue occur again?
There are several reasons that may cause the email stuck issue, such as Outlook or the mail server is offline, An antispam or antivirus scanner is scanning outgoing mail, Wrong or bad password, or not authenticating properly with the mail server, the message
    is too large to send...
We can learn the troubleshooting steps from this link below, which was written by our MVP, Diane Poremsky, who is a well-known expert in Outlook:

  • HT3748 Messages sent through my Exchange Account with large attachments (10mb) get stuck in my Outbox.

I use Mail and icloud except at work. The wi-fi network at work won't allow icloud through so I use my work email setup on Mail as an Exhange account. When I have a large message (10mb) to send through this account it gets stuck in my Outbox and won't 'send'. It actually appears in the 'On my Mac' Outbox and not in the Exchange Outbox - even though i sent it using the Exchange account. IT at work are puzzled. This problem is only when at work - I can send through my Exchange account when I'm at home. Please help...

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
This action will delete any custom Mail stationery that you have created. If you want to preserve it, ask for instructions.
If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Email stuck in outbox if sending mail from a shared mailbox

    Hi,
Some user mailboxes have recently been migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.  Shared mailboxes are located on Exchange 2003 still for the time being.
Some users have send as permissions to a shared mailbox.  In Outlook the users are logged in as themselves and using the from field send an email from the shared mailbox.
The email is sent and delivered to its recipient.
The email is however stuck in the outbox of the users mailbox.
I have tried recreating the Outlook profile, windows profile and using a different PC, but the mails still get stuck in the outbox.
If outlook is changed to use cached mode then the emails are delivered.  We don't want customers using cached mode though.
If I migrate the shared mailbox to Exchange 2003 I still have the problem.
If I migrate the users mailbox to Exchange 2003 then the problem goes away.
On the Laptop I am testing this on it is Windows 7, Office 2003.  I have also tested on another computer with Windows 7 and Outlook 2007. Outlook safe mode doesn;t help or turning off windows firewall.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
    Regards
    Matt

    Hi,
Based on your description, I found this kb below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2703723/en-us
This problem occurs when all the following conditions are true:
Your Outlook profile is configured in online mode (not cached Exchange mode).
You have the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value set to 1.
There is no resolution to this problem other than to either switch your profile to cached Exchange mode or set the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value to zero (0).
Note If you set DelegateSentItemsStyle=0 in the registry, email messages that you send from a shared mailbox will be copied to
your Sent Items folder and not the Sent Items folder of the shared mailbox.
    Important
This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the
registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry
    1.Exit Outlook.
    2.Start Registry Editor.
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search
box, and then press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click
    Allow.
3.Locate and then select the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\Preferences
(Note In this key path, the placeholder x.0represents 15.0 for Outlook 2013, 14.0 for Outlook 2010, 12.0 for Outlook 2007, and
    11.0 for Outlook 2003.)
    4.Select the DelegateSentItemsStyle value.
5.On the Edit menu, click Modify.
6.Type 0, and then click OK.
    7.Exit Registry Editor.
    8.Start Outlook.
