Glad you got it!
Photoshop never did like skins, especially this latest version.
(I have to confess I once skinned Windows to look like the Apple Aqua interface but that was a long time ago.)

Are you currently Syncing the iPod's with their own iTunes Library? Since the iPod Classic has to get it's content by this method, I assume that you are doing so for the 120GB iPod and I take it that it is a Classic.
If you are, then simply connect the iPod to the other Library.
If the content of the iPod Touch (which I assume is what the 64GB iPod is) is not all in an iTunes library - i.e. you purchased music and Apps on the Touch and have not yet Synced those to an iTunes Library, then you need to do that first. Bear in mind though, that the Apps cannot run on an iPod Classic.

Sorry to hear that, but this forum is for us, users, and what you need is someone from Xperia Care to find your motherboard and send it back, I don't think it'll be possible to retrieve any data from a broken motherboard.

• Configurator panels(even empty once) are slowing down Photoshop CS6 significantly

After updating java this morning, in some cases Configurator Photoshop CS6 panels(even empty once) are slowing down Photoshop CS6 significantly.
I noticed this when i got complaints about hotkeys not working when custom panels were open, the behavior was similar to holding down the hotkey for temp access to tools
I found a workaround where i made the panels not persistent and therefor they load everytime i expand them (slowing photoshop).
Is there a better workaround? and/or is this issue a known thing?

I Had a problem with Configurator slowing down photoshop and what I found on another thread here worked for me. What I did was to exclude Photoshop from my virus software. Once i did that my issues went away.

• Bug? Large horizontal grey area btween toolbar and inspector+browser?

Hey!
Since a few days back a large grey horizontal area has emerged between the toolbar and the inspector+main viewer/browser. Has anyone else experienced this? I think it emerged first when I was switching between different main viewer/browser, show/hide toolbar etc., but now it won't go away no matter what I try to show or hide!
can anyone help?
Regards /bc

I have the same problem. I tried to hide the toolbar once and was really happy to gain lots of screen real estate. Then, the next time I started Aperture 2 I found the grey space. Now, it doesn't matter if I hide or show the toolbar, I get the wasted space (Ironic, as I was trying to save space in the first place).

• Any reliable cases where larger block sizes are useful?

So I did some googling around to read up on 16kb or larger blocksizes. I found a series of articles by Jonathan Lewis and Richard Foote (plus other DBAs whose posts I trust ) debunking the usage of larger blocksize. I have not been able to find a single article, blog post, forum post, with a legitimate case where a larger block size actually improves performance. Its hard to google this stuff because the good stuff is buried beneath all the trash.
So have any of the Oak Table people and other guys who write articles where they do quality testing find cases where larger block sizes are useful?
I don't have a specific need. I'm just curious. Every time I look this up I get buried in generic copy and paste blog posts that copy the docs, the generic test cases that were debunked, by the guys above, and other junk. So its hard to look for this.

Lurking in the various things I've written about block sizes there are a couple of comments about using different block sizes (occasionally) for LOBs - though this might be bigger or smaller depending on the sizes of the actual LOBs and the usage pattern: it also means you automatically separate the LOB cache from the main cache, which can be very helpful.
I've also suggested that for IOTs (index organized tables) where the index entries can be fairly large and you don't want to create an overflow segment you may get some benefit if the larger block size typically allows all rows for a give (partial) key value to reside in just one or two blocks. The same argument can apply, though with slightly less strength for "fat" indexes (i.e. ones you've added columns to in order to avoid visiting the table for very impoartant time-critical queries). The drawback in these two cases is that you're second-guessing, and to an extent choking, the LRU algorithms, and you may find that the gain on the specific indexes is obliterated by the loss on the rest of the caching activity.

we have recently upgraded to windows 7, how do i make the toolbars and panel pane larger. They are too small to view

A larger monito is only helpful if the resolution is the same as your current monitor, and they tend to have higher resolutions as you get larger, so don't rush out an buy a larger monitor and expect miracles. If you have a 22" now and it's "HD" (1920 x 1080), you'll see some change as you go up in size, but you'd probably need at least a 27" screen at 1920 x 1080 to notice a real difference.
Right click on the desktop and choose Screen Resolution and you can see the current settings (probably the maximum value which is recommended) and other settings you can use. Lowering the resolution will make everything on the screen larger, but less stuff will fit. Used to be, too that ID did not work will at less than the maximum resolution setting for any monitor.
I did not mean to use the larger fonts feature, by the way, as far as I know that doesn't affect the ID user interface.
The point I was making, rather badly, is that those of us with declining eyesight are getting shafted because there is no way to make use of all the monitor potential and adjut the user interface to make things visible. I just bought a 30" monitor to replace my old 27" which had 1920 x 1200 resolution and was pretty usable, things were about the same size as my old sony 20" running at 1600 x 1200, but even though it is larger in terms of screen size, the new monitor is even higher resolution and things are actually smaller. The only reason I can use it with ID is I know where everything is.

• HT1752 Hello, I updated my MacBook with OS X and lost all my photos (about 7 years of photos) on iphoto (now empty). Are they completely lost or is there a way I can retrieve them from my computer?

Hello, I updated my MacBook with OS X and lost all my photos (about 7 years of photos) on iphoto (now empty). Are they completely lost or is there a way I can retrieve them from my computer?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

• Empty Strings are converted to NULLs

We are developing a Java application intended to work with multiple databases. We want to store empty strings but oracle converts this to NULL values. Is there a way to tell the Oracle Database not to convert the empty string to NULL and to store it as an empty string?
Thanks
Joaquim Franco <[email protected]>
GEDI, SA

Our project started with a MySQL database and the code is full of built queries like "Select Field from table where field = var" where var can be an empty string. It would be easier for us to turn a switch in the database then to look for every query in the application and add code to test is var is empty a change the query to "Select Field from table where field is NULL".
Best Regards
Joaquim Franco
> It is a quirk of Oracle that it regards empty strings
> and NULLs as being the same thing. This behaviour
> has been built into the database forever. Oracle
> keep threatening to change but I suspect they are
> scared of the impact, not least on their own code.
> As Oracle increasingly embrace Java they may decide
> to revisit this - I don't know whether the behaviour
> is changed in 10G.
>
> What sort of problems does it cause you?
>

• Empty files are getting created at receiver FTP server

Hi Experts,
I have an Idoc to File scenario where I am sending an XML file to receiver FTP server.
Scenario is working fine but sometimes an empty file is getting generated at receiver FTP server.
I have already selected ignore empty file at receiver channel so issue is not within PI system configuration.
When I checked the message log I can see that almost all the files are getting created successfully without any issues, but
for some files/messages I can see that there are below error logs.
"Transmitting the message to endpoint <local> using connection IDoc_AAE_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections"
"Exception caught by adapter framework: Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections."
And after there is again success message log in the same message and it creating a file successfully during that time stamp.
but the third party is sometime receiving empty file which I am not able to find in any trace or log (my file name is SD_timestamp.xml).
Can you please let me know what is the solution and what adjustments FTP server need to do in order to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rahul Kulkarni

The error you are getting that says "Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections" has probably nothing to do with the empty files problem.
I second Hareesh Gampa that you first should try "temporary file creation". You might also need to tell the FTP owner that he should only pick up files with that are written completely and that do comply with a negotiated file name schema. The temp file should have another schema of course then. He should not pick up just every file that is written. See here for details

• "Large" Mail Attachments are Too Small in Yosemite

Since using Yosemite (10.10.1), when I attach a photo to a Mail (8.1) message, and then choose one of the options to change the Image Size from Actual Size to Large, the photo shrinks way too much. For example, an 8.4 MB .jpg file shrank to 285 KB when selecting the Large option. Before Yosemite, the reduction was not as much, and the resulting image was far more useful to the recipient. These are practically thumbnails. How can I adjust the size of "Large" Image Sizes to make them bigger?
I have not found any other reports of this problem. I recall once learning how to change the size of the Quartz filters used to reduce Preview images, and I image something similar is going on.
Tom Cooper

This isn't an issue with Mail, it's those people who are using a PeeCee and Outlook, which is set to render all email as HTML, even if it isn't. Apart from having your recipients set Outlook to treat everything as Plain Text, you should create .zip archives of the files you're sending and send those instead.

• Empty Lines are not taking

Hi all,
I am doing the scenarios File-File with FCC. My source file is as follows. But it is not picking the Empty lines which are there in the source file
So My structure as follows:
MT_BNK01 1..1
RECORD 0..Unbound
--Record_data 0..Unbound
So in the Sender CC i written as follows
Recordset Structure:: RECORD,1
FCC paramtetrs as follows
RECORD.fieldNames RECORD_DATA
RECORD.fieldSeparator '0x0D''nl'
ignoreRecordsetName true
What i need to do extra to capture the empty lines from my source.
Thanks in Advance,
Best Regards,
Vijay

Hi Rajesh,
I did that one also. There is no effect. Currently i am using all the these FCC paramters:
RECORD.fieldNames RECORD_DATA
RECORD.fieldSeparator '0x0D''nl'
RECORD.endSeparator '0x0D''0x0A'
ignoreRecordsetName true
RECORD.fieldContentFormatting nothing
RECORD.enclosureConversion YES
The problem here , we given the 'nl' as the fieldSeparator. So if 2 consucutive 'nl' comes then there no value between them so it is suppressing. How to overcome this.
Warm Regards,

• Importing large WMA files are truncated

Every couple of weeks, I get a large 5 or 6 hour WMA file that I import into iTunes. Naturally, it has to convert them. I usual convert them to MP3 files. The last two files I tried this with were truncated to about an hour and a half. The most recent file I tried this with was truncated to exactly 1:21:33. The interesting thing is that I tried converting it using AAC to see if that solved the problem and it stopped at exactly the same spot to the second. I might have guessed that there was a problem with the file, but the last file I did this with did the same thing. There is no error, in fact if you weren't paying attention, you might think everything was fine. This has been working fine for more than a year, so I'm not sure what changed. Any ideas?

Spaces and Expose are definitely not the ideal answer, but it might work for you. What you need to do first is tell Keynote to allow the use of Spaces and Expose.
Then in the System Preferences set up whatever your preferred keystroke is to activate either Spaces or Expose, whichever you choose to use.
For example, you could use spaces and have the Keynote open in one space and the quicktime movie open in the space below it. Then when it is time to show you movie, press command down arrow key and it will change spaces for you. Then you can play your movie.
Or you could set it up with Expose where F3 shows all windows and then you just have to click to the Quicktime movie.
Does any of that make sense?
