Large Library Consolidation - What happens if I need to "Stop?"

Hi - I have a large (in my opinion) music library of 23k songs and just set up a home server. Here is the problem, I have all of my music on one drive on the server (don't ask how long that took), I want to consolidate my current library on the same drive to a singe location so I can delete the multiple copies of the songs and have a nice clean library in one folder going forward.
My issue is the time it's taking to do consolidate the library (about 45% after 35 hours) - I am going to take my computer to work with me Monday morning and I know it won't be done consolidating. What will happen if I stop my consolidation and come back and restart a consolidation Monday evening? Will all the progress that was made over the weekend be lost or will it resume where it left off?
Any suggestions on how I could possibly speed up the process?

Well unless you get the "blue flue" Monday morning, it doesn't sound like you have much choice!
If you have to stop Consolidate in the middle, the files already consolidated will stay consolidated. When you restart Consolidate, it will find the rest of the files that it didn't get the first time. So, nothing lost.
One thing to be careful of, however, is that since Consolidate does not have a graceful way to stop, the one file it is working on at the moment you stop it may get messed up; I can't say for sure.
For future reference: It is not necessary to consolidate the whole library at once. You can highlight a range of tracks, right click, and choose "Consolidate Files..." It will only operate on the selected files and will then stop.

It depends on how bad your iMac sh**'s itself. If you can boot into the Recovery partition, then there is re-install option which will automatically download Lion from the store and install it. If you can't boot into recovery then you would have needed to create a bootable Lion dvd or thumb drive to do an install. In this case you would need to create the bootable image after downloading the Lion installer and before performing the install as the installer gets deleted upon successful upgrade to Lion.

As the Adobe AS3 SDK for Facebook are supplied in precompiled class libraries, in .SWC files, they are closed.
What happens if I need to make changes to the classes, extend them etc? I've noticed that you can also download the Source from:

Is it possible to use the uncompiled source isntead of the .SWC?And if yes how would I go about doing it?
Just asking as the SWC also has some graphic compiled into it, which isnt present in the Source folder.

If i just simply include the classes from the Source, then i get the following error:

Lost photos after iPhoto library rebuild - what happened?

After noticing that there were albums entitled Recovered photos in my iPhoto library, I deleted those albums. As expected, i got a message that i was not really deleting the originals, just getting rid of such albums. There were about 5 of those "recovered albums": one contained about 30 photos; three had zero and another had over 1000 photos. Subsequent to that, thinking of making this library totally clean, I decided to do a "libraty rebuild" using the option-command rebuild procedure of iphoto. I checked all the options presented for that procedure. To my surprise, when the process was finished I had less events, and less photos. A careful visual check of the display pane of events and photos confirmed that i had lost actual photos. I tried to reclaim those lost photos with another rebuild -- this time using iphoto library manager, but without success. What happened? Is there any way to reclaim those lost photos?
I do have a backup, but would prefer to correct the problem in the original library to avoid having to assemble and clean up duplicates that i had before.
I'm using the newest version of iPhoto: 8.1 and OS X 10.5.8 on a MacBook 2.4 Ghz - 2Gb Ram - 250 GB HD, 42 GB available. My iPhoto library has over 12000 photos

Why these things happen is always difficult to answer. My experience with iPhoto is using it since v1 on with a single library that's upgraded each new versions and migrated from G4 iMac to G5 iMac to Intel iMac and then a second Intel iMac. I load photos in, my wife does and my 12 year old does too.
And never had a problem.
The database gets corrupted when the app is interrupted when writing to it. The usual causes of this include a crash, a force quit or a lost connection to the Library on an external disk. More rarely minor disk or directory damage might be a cause.
I wondered when I read your report
Subsequent to that, thinking of making this library totally clean, I decided to do a "libraty rebuild" using the option-command rebuild procedure of iphoto. I checked all the options presented for that procedure.
The options presented for that procedure include various items that require the app to read the database file plus this one
Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
+I Wonder+ - I stress, I wonder, no more - if reading to rebuild various thumbnails from a file that is being vacuumed +while at the same time+ is being replaced by a backup is what caused the issue.
If it is, then the Rebuild from Back Up option should be sandboxed and not possible while the other events are going on.
But that's just a guess.

I have to interrupt a 2-hour backup that I initiated on Time Machine. Will backup to that time be discarded or will it resume when I re-initiate the backup?

Yipes - My iTunes Library Disappeared - What Happened Here???

I have a very large iTunes library on an external drive. Today when I went to work on my collection there were no songs listed when I clicked the music tab in iTunes. I proceeded to restart my heart.
When I went to preferences>advanced it showed the correct location of my music on the external drive.
I am now in the process of adding my iTunes music from the drive into my library
And ideas what might have happened? and how I can prevent it from happening again? And anything else I should be doing?

A crash when the library database file was being updated is one way. Just restore the backup you take regularly. Ah, OK.
It sounds like you are well on the way to rebuilding your library however this will have erased data such as ratings, play counts, playlists etc. If none of this matters then carry on as you are, otherwise here is how to restore the correct library...
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes. In the *Previous iTunes Libraries* folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename *iTunes Library* as *iTunes Library (Rebuild)* and then rename the restored file as *iTunes Library*. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.

Managing a large library across multiple external HDDs (advice needed)

Here's the rundown. I have an extensive media library, and I've found that satisfying my storage, editing, and convenience needs at the same time is difficult.
Setup:
Mac Mini - 120GB
Mini Stack - Partitioned 500GB (120 backing up main drive, 380 for iTunes Music and misc.)
FreeAgent - 320GB (backup for Music)
2x MyBook 1.5TB - iTunes Movies (1 backs up to the other)
2x MyBook 750 - iTunes TV Shows (1 backs up to the other)
I'm operating right now with about 160GBs of music, music videos, and podcasts, about 950GBs of Movies, and about 500GBs of TV Shows and other misc Video that I organize in the "TV Shows" section of iTunes.
I have all of my content nested within iTunes folders on each drive, and when adding or editing content I change the preferences to point to the appropriate folder.
The problems I'm running into are that iTunes keeps wanting to update my library each time, and if a edit a file that is not in the currently selected iTunes folder the edits are only reflected in iTunes (not to the file itself).
This comes up most frequently when I'm adding ripped TV Shows, as iTunes always adds them first as Movies, which I then change. I also rename the files and add artwork. If I'm pointing to the correct folder the files will move from a Movies folder to a TV Shows folder, reflect new names, and retain episode and other info. If not they don't update.
So I want to know if there is a way to set my itunes folder permanently to the music location, add movies and tv shows from locations without copying to main folder AND retain the same editing abilities that you have by selecting "keep iTunes folder organized."

iTunes hasn't really caught up with Apple's seeming trend towards devices that are smaller and smaller and the glut of media that requires large storage. I guess in the end it might be expected one goes to cloud storage of some sort.
I have never bought anything from iTunes Store but I guess it will still download to someplace indicated in preferences for your media folder location even if you have turned off copy to for other methods of adding media. Two options then. Either make that place your internal drive and move files to the external as you download them, or make it the external drive and work with special handling of music files on the internal. You can override iTunes copying items if you hold down the option key while dragging the item to itunes.

Please check the settings under Firefox > Options > Tabs if this is happening when you click on an article in a new tab.
If this is happening on the same window please try Firefox in Safe Mode or Reset Firefox. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]] and [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] for reference.

Two iTunes Library - hmm what happen? should i merge them into one?

i remmeber when i bought new additional hard drive to to my intel macpro . i changed itunes folder to there.. becase my main HD( HD1) memory is almost full..
i remember i reloacted my itunes folder there.. all music ,data,purchased item and art work etc..
and not sure since when i see who itumes folder with different music content.. HD3 has itunes folder i re created and now i see my home folder (original HD ) has itunes fomder again (under Home/User/Music ..) why? it's happen after i downloaded new itunes? new latest itunes ? computer automativcally create new itunes folder to under music folder?

You can make iTunes point to the external media folder.
Go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced tab, change the iTunes Media folder location.
Keep iTunes Media folder organized CHECKED
Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library CHECKED

Which model of the player do you have ? You could go to the Recovery Mode (no software needed) and then do a clean up and failing which do a format all. then start from fresh.
It is possible that you have songs in there without ID3 tags and thus it does not show up on the player.

No longer says "Bookmarks" at the top of the screen, when I go to Firefox. What happened? I need it back.

Just a few days ago the word "Bookmarks" disappeared from the upper left area of the screen.Now in the upper far left is the word "Firefox". The bookmarks list is on one of the menus under the word "Firefox". But I can't use it that way and want it back the way it was. Can someone help me to figure out how I did this and how to fix it?
And what is the green box for, below. It says automatically add, but does say what would be added.
