Large Mail Attachment Affecting Mail Program
I have an IMac G5 and use the mail program that came with OS X. The other day I attached a very large movie file to an email I wanted to send to my sister but stupidly, I forgot to compress the movie. I sent the email message but it is now suspended in the "OUT" box and completely slows down my computer and renders the mail program unusable due to its size.
I've tried deleting the file and email, and even though it says I have, every time I force quit and come back, the file is right back in the "out" box. The little circle keeps spinning indicating that it's working but nothing happens. HOW DO I EXPONGE THIS MISTAKE FROM MY MAIL AND GET MY COMPUTER AND MAIL PROGRAM WORKING REGULARLY AGAIN?

With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes > Outbox.mbox.
Delete the Outbox.mbox folder and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and a new Outbox.mbox folder will be created automatically within the Mailboxes folder and this should resolve the problem.
Depending on the size of the pre-encoded file, the Mail.app uses MIME 1.0 for attachment encoding which is the internet standard. The encoding process increases the size of the pre-encoded file by 50% or so. A 5MB file (pre-encoded) will be roughly 7.5MB after the encoding process.
Most ISPs and email account providers have limits on the overall size of incoming and sent messages. As an example, a .Mac account has a 10MB overall message size limit for incoming and sent messages and most ISPs and email account providers have similar limits so you need to check on this limit with your ISP or email account provider and the same with the recipient's ISP or email account provider before sending such a large file via email.
Something else to consider which I'm sure you are aware but just in case, if you can send a 20MB file (encoded size) and the recipient's incoming mail server accepts a message this large for example (which isn't likely) but the recipient has a limited amount of available incoming mail server storage space and the 20MB message exceeds the recipient's server storage space limit, the message will be rejected by the server.

I know that Adobe Pro makes you chose one e-mail but I send regularly and daily several times a day from from several e-mails for several functions for work. It would be nice if I could use Adobe Pro X. Or am I destined to switch to SendNow?
I did notice that the free Adobe Reader XI, will let me send to as many different e-mails as I like if I don't designate a "home" e-mail as I had to with Adobe Pro. Pretty for free.

LibraryLady315It is not clear what you mean by several e-mails? Do you mean different e-mail clients? If so, probably not. The e-mail is sent to the default mailer specified in your system. If you mean something else, then please explain. When I select "Attach to email" in the file menu of AA8, it goes directly to my default client and opens up an e-mail with the PDF attached.

Have you upgraded to Yosemite? Then you could send the attachment using Mail Drop.
You can use Mail Drop to send files that exceed the maximum size allowed by the provider of your email account. Mail Drop uploads the large attachments to iCloud, where they’re encrypted and stored for up to 30 days.
If you have an iCloud account and you’re signed in to iCloud when you click Send, Mail automatically sends the attachments using Mail Drop. Mail Drop attachments don’t count against your iCloud storage.
If you don’t have an iCloud account, or if you’re not signed in, Mail asks you whether to use Mail Drop (select “Don’t ask again for this account” to always use Mail Drop).
If a recipient uses Mail in OS X Yosemite, the attachments are automatically downloaded and included in your message just like any other attachment. For other recipients, your message includes links for downloading the attachments and their expiration date.
You can turn Mail Drop on or off for an account. Choose Mail > Preferences, click Accounts, select your account, click Advanced, then select or deselect “Send large attachments with Mail Drop.” -
Mail in Snow Leopard has broken. Keeps resending a large file attachment. Make it stop!
Our 2009 iMac running Snow Leopard has hit a snag with mail. After trying to send a bunch of attached photos, Mail stopped receiving messages and continually tries to resend the large message, even though we have done our best to delete it. Even when we do, a few minutes later, it will pop into the outbox again and start all over. We are now using Thunderbird but would like to get Mail back as it has all our organized folders on it. I've called our ISP and the problem is definitely with Mail, not our account. What now?

The attachents add up to 34.1 Mb.
The messages appear in a Recovered Messages (Telus) folder that shows up at the bottom of our list of folders. That folder fills up with copies of the 34.1 Mb email. After about 15 minutes there are 34 of them. I can only delete them one at a time after clicking on them. Trying to select all or batch delete unread causes mail to slow down to a crawl and affects all other applications. "Edit Message" doesn't seem to be an option. -
My computer is running slow after Yosemite install -but in the Mail program, when I open an email and then open the attachment -all is good -when I close the attachment the Mail program goes away, and I have to reopen it in my Dock -every time.
I tried this, but no luck. I went to Previous System>Users. There is nothing inside the "Users" folder, so I hit a dead end.
I can find my new e-mails -- those that came in since I re-installed the system -- in my NEW system (which I did to see if I was correctly understanding the advice), by going to Users>Home>Library>Mail>POP account name>Inbox.
Let me add a new question: I am running PhotoShop C3. It opens OK, and I can use it, but when it opens I get this message: "One or more files for Adobe Application Support folder are missing. Please re-run the PhotoShop installer."
I don't like re-installing working programs if I can avoid it, because it always seems to lead to other issues. Any idea what files are missing, and where it/they might be in the Previous System folder?

Open Mail Attachment without having to save file
I'm pretty sure I should be able to double click the icon for an attachment in Mail and it should open with the program from my preferences.
I can't even right click the file, choose open with, and select what I want to open with. Mail just sits there ... no error message .. nothing.
I can view in place, or save to downloads, or drag it to Desktop.
Where the **** is this setting or how can I correct this. Driving me nuts.On my machine a single click on a Word document in an email opens the Word doc, no double click required. I can see the Word icon before I click on it, it is not just a generic icon.
I can also right click and select the application, like you suggest you should be able to do.
Not sure why it does not work for you though as there are no settings in Mail that I can see that would affect it. -

Error while Opening PDF attachment from Mail

We two Output Types created ZNEU and ZAUF. Two Smartforms are created for the same Output Types. The Issue now is, When ZNEU triggers and send a mail the document is properly decoded and gets opened but for ZAUF it doesn't. It says File damaged.

When you create post or reply, on right hand side all the markups are given...how to format text and all,
for code to be seen in readable format,
simply type the lines between

Can you create a pdf e-mail attachment with working hyperlinks?
I'm trying to figure out how to generate an e-mail with working hyperlinks where the recipient doesn't have to open the pdf for the links to work...in other words, when they open the e-mail and view the pdf as it is displayed, the links are visible and the viewer can click on them and go to a URL. I see this all the time, and can't figure out how to do it with a pdf (I've added the links with the link took in pdf and they display within the application window, but disappear when the file is an e-mail attachment) or with html. I've attached the pdf that I'm trying to make interactive within an e-mail message. Any help that can be provided is much appreciated!

The answer is more along these lines:
PDF's can be created with working hyperlinks.
They can be automatically be brought over from programs such as MS Word, Open Office, and such provided your on a PC Platform
they can actually be viewed and clickable from Acrobat or Reader PC Versions, if created from a PC Version.
they are not viewable or clickable if created from Mac version of Office.
They are viewable and clickable from a PC if created from Mac version of Office (Word/Excel)
The Mac can can not do so automatically you must do them Manually with in Acrobat.
in Past it has been a Pain to do so though may be different in version 9
If you use a browser Plugin such as Schubert's PDF Browser Plugin that works on Safari, fireFox, Camino, SeaMonkey Opera, OmniPage, iCab. Links you create in Mac version of Acrobat are viewable and clickable.
Finally MS and Adobe have been having this on going problem since the day's PDF's first hit the market. (Version 1.) and MS decided to support them. The hooks are there for both PC and Mac versions of Word. and either are capable of being created and acted upon on whether created by the Mac version of Office, or the PC version of Office, but only on a windows PC. Its clearly a problem of Acrobat/Reader on the Mac. Its either a problem Adobe won't own up to, or they can't solve or, this is one item they can't be bothered with to put in the Mac Versions.
Some of this information is based on my participation in the msnews. nntp newsgroups for Office Mac. The experts there for the most part (MVP's) use both Mac and PC's and have investogated the problem themselves and been give information from the MacBU (Mac Business Unit) at MicroSoft. The basic internal code of Office 2003/2004 is the same. The UI is different and key cobinations are different. And same for 2007/2008 except office 2008 don't support VBA and Macros, and neither 2004 nor 2008 have MasterPages, And thankfully according the the MVP's Thankfully the Robbonis not supported on 2008. -

Toad replyed try zip file (compress) I did and still got the same messageMany mail servers cap their message sending or receiving at 4MB. If you are sending your own work that you want distributed by someone else, check with your internet provider if they can temporarily raise that restriction and the recipient's mail server can temporarily raise those restrictions. Better would be for both of you to be able to access a webhosting site to share the material and use some FTP programs to send the file to each other. If it is an MPEG-3 of a commercial CD's music, we can't help you as such distribution is illegal.

Pdf file name in mail attachment
Hi All,
For sales order invoice, there is an output type configured which sends the output smartform as pdf attachment in mail.
The sending medium is 'External send' (Type 5). I want to know how I can give a specific name to this pdf file attachment.
Since there is no coding involved in generating this pdf attachment, i don't know how to achieve it.
Can I pass it when i call the function module of the smartform ?

In your driver program, the title for the pdf has to be provided in the import structure for the smartform with name "OUTPUT_OPTIONS" of type SSFCOMPOP.
In it, use try field TDTITLE or TDCOVTITLE. I don't exactly remember which 1 of these 2, so try both.
