Large 'Mini Player' in 11.0.3.42

Hi,
I just downloaded the latest iTunes update.  Now when I double click the album art to get the 'mini player' up it comes up small and can only be slightly resized.  Previously it could be resized to fit to the screen height/width.
The screenshot below shows the maximum size I can make the album art.  Is there a way to make it as it was before?
thanks

This downgrade appears to have been Apple's attempt to reduce desktop clutter for some, but they've effectively taken away the option for others like us to enlarge the artwork to our preference.  I was very angry when I found this out.  It doesn't make sense either, Anders, that it is so small.
I spent a lot of time downloading the largest sizes of album cover artwork I could find (usually 1000x1000) after the previous version of iTunes allowed you to fill the screen with it, but now they've defeated the whole purpose.  Apple, if you're listening, please bring this feature back in the next version of iTunes.  Some of us like enlarging our album art to fit the screen

  • Mini player does not work, can only switch playlists by closing and restarting iTunes

For the last few versions of iTunes, my mini player does not work, only choices are large window and larger window.  Also, if I am listening to a playlist and hit the pause button, then switch to another playlist, the old playlist keeps playing when I hit play.  The only way I can figure out to switch playlists is to quit and relaunch iTunes.

    try rebooting the ipad
you know holding down the on button and the home button until the slider comes
and turn it off and start it up again

  • What happened to the little icon that let you switch back & forth from mini player?

In earlier versions of iTunes you could easily switch with from full window to mini player by clicking a small icon on top right of large window. iTunes 12 makes you use a key board shortcut...any thoughts?

You open the MiniPlayer by clicking the artwork in the top central status area.
You close the MiniPlayer by clicking the small X at the top left.
The tool below that shows or hides artwork.

  • Mini player icon-switch eliminated from iTunes

In the (numerous) recent changes to iTunes desktop application, the icon to switch from/to the mini player has been eliminated. The ease of access to the master screen is now complicated by increasing the number of steps. This makes no sense. Focusing on an icon-switch for large or small art work is ridiculous. Get back to core simplicity of operation. Leave the design factor for those that want to twiddle with the view screen.

The switch to activate the mini player will appear, when you hover the pointer at the upper left corner of the display.

  • Dock the Mini Player (just a good idea)

It would be nice to dock the mini Player like the one in "Windows XP" so you can use the "auto hide and show” on the dock and not have the mini player show on top of other windows and get in the way. I just wanted to share my thoughts and see how you felt and if you have and programming skills to make this possible it would be great, or if some one from apple read this and put it in a update but I guess I can keep dreaming.

I haven't noticed any slowdown since upgrading to iOS 5.1.
I think some of the slowdown issues may have to with things like what capacity iPad you have?
I have an iPad1(soon to be a New iPad owner) that is the 32 GB model and have not had any type of
performance hit. I make sure not many background applications are running. I only have notifications turned on for certain apps and not globally. My iPad is a WiFi only model. Unless I need it, I, also, turn off Location Services.
If anything, I have less app crashes, too! Especially either in my browser of choice or Safari.
Many apps are more stable now, but also many app updates are bloated up larger now to accomodate to New iPad's Retina Display which the old iPad's can't take advantage of.
IMHO, the update is very much worth doing.
Have had this iPad for two years and this will get handed down to my girlfriend once I receive and setup my new iPad.
The original still works great, but with all of the improvements and the fact that I really need the max storage capacity of the 64GB model for my creative and media watching/listening needs.
It is ironic that a device and technology that is still evolving that the very first iPad would be now considered obsolete only after two years.
At least the OS can still be updated and can run on the "original" iPad. That's gotta say something about how useful the original iPad still is.
I figure my girlfriend will get, at least, another two years use out of this before she'll have to take the plunge and get herself her own iPad.
My "older" iPad will be my girfriend's first introduction to Apple. She has never used any Apple product or computer in her past.
I am hoping she'll like the iPad, over time.
    Sorry. Got a little off-topic.

  • When I click on itunes to open it up, all I get is the mini player......

when I click on the box to expand mini-player, it says there is an error and disappears. If I hit the play button, it starts at the top of my list, but I have no access to the library or the playlists.
I originally downloaded itunes, and everything worked fine for a week or so. than this problem showed up. I un-installed itunes, quicktime...everything that came with the download, and re-downloaded the software, all to no avail. Still the same problem.
I presume this is an issue with my computer, and not the software. I called apple support, and they were NO help at all.
does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

I also had issues with my 4S. I just got the 5S and can't get it to read my phone. It did it once and I was able to download my music, but can't get my ringtones and i have 25 ringtones that I can no longer get to after paying for them!!! Please HELP. It no longer sees my phone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled I Tunes mltiple times.
    Thanks,

  • How do I turn off controls in the mini player?

Hello, I have a question about the mini player. When I first installed iTunes, the mini player would only display the control icons when I moved the cusor over the player, with only the artwork displayed while the player was in use. Now, however, every time I use the mini player it always has the contorls on display. Is there a way to toggle the controls on and off so that they are only visible when I want them to be? For reference, the mini player always looks as it does below. When I first began using it only the artwork would be on display. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, but the player still looks the same (I did not do a full uninstall/reinstall however). Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    Hello moeszyslak,
I would recommend testing to see if the issue is system wide, or user specific as the troubleshooting for each is different. Use this article:
iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717.
    Create a New User Account
When troubleshooting a variety of issues, it can be useful to determine if the issue affects a specific Windows user account or all accounts. Follow the steps below to create a new user account in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
Open Add or remove user accounts (If using the Classic View in Windows Vista, open User Accounts. Then open Manage another account).
Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process.
Once the new account is created, choose     Log Off from the     Start menu.
Log into the newly created user account.
Open iTunes and determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in this new user.
If you see the same issue in the newly created user account, proceed to the System-wide troubleshootingsection below. If you do not experience the same issue, consult the User-specific troubleshooting section below.

  • How can I show album art in the mini player when playing songs from a plugged in iPhone?

How can I show album art in the mini player when playing songs from a plugged in iPhone?
When I play from my phone and switch to the mini player it's always showing the music notes in the thumbnaill. It'd be nice if it could get album art off of the phone.
    I'm on iTunes version 11.0.4.4

    He @mracole,
it is very nice that you post a solution to complete the library with artwork for album's that do not have an artwork. Your solution perfectly addresses the problem for assigning artwork, BUT this thread is about CHANGING artwork for albums already uploaded into iTunes Match. Just try to replace for example a blue artwork cover for an album with a red one. If you made it in a simple way (without deleting the album from iTunes Match and local changes on the files with an external ID3-Application or 2 or more iTunes libraries on different Mac's) this is the right place to give a solution. I really tried for hours to change the artwork to make them visible in landscape cover flow mode on my iPhone5. In rare cases I made it, but then the covers sometimes where restored to the old onces - exacly how it is mentioned by Starhawk
As long as there is no simple way to change the cover of an iTunes Match stored album (you can change title, artist and so on without hitting "update iTunes Match" over all distributed Library on different devices - this date will be synchronized almost instantly) I considered the behaviour from iTunes as BUGGY! For me the local artwork cache (and if there is any iCloud artwork cache - I don't know) do not interfere with iCloud. Even when I delete the whole local cache (album artwork music - everything) I do not manage to change the artwork.

  • How can I play a movie in iTunes mini player?  (Progress bar button broken?)

It took forever to figure out how to get iTunes to even OPEN a new window for movie playback, but once I finally found instructions (click the button with movie art to the left of the progress bar to open in new window) they only partially worked.  A new window opens, but movie playback continues in the main window.  The new window shows a freeze frame of the scene displayed at the moment I clicked the progress bar button.  The new window looks just like the mini player, and its control buttons work, but they effect the main window's movie playback not the new window/mini player where I want to watch the movie.
Is it my progress bar that's broken?  I'm all updated with iTunes version 11.1.5.  Does this version not play well with my OS X 10.6.8?
Ultimately I just want to be able to play a movie in the mini player while using other applications; surely that's possible.
[Also, on the "Operating System" dropdown menu below, I just selected OS X 10.6.8 and then the dropdown showed "No operating system selected" and the selection arrows no longer work.  Any ideas what happened?  My MacBook Old feels so janky right now.]

You need to convert the AVI file to MP4.  Here is just one of the many converters available (via Google) http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/oca/mp4-converter?gclid=CJnqnpaF37gCFc fJtAod8RUAeg

  • ITunes always opens in Mini Player?? Help

Can't go into much more detail except that every time I open my iTunes, it opens in the little mini player. I should clarify by saying this by saying that by "open" I mean run iTunes after it has been QUIT after the last usage.

    Hey,
I am facing the same problem. Everytime i open iTunes on my mac, it always opens as the mini player on the left top corner of my screen(its never opened at any other position). Then i change it to the normal player with <shift>+<command>+m. Later, when i quit and reopen it, the normal window appears.
I've tried reinstalling it but the problem persists. Is there any way to fix this bug?
Using OSX 10.7.1 and iTunes 10.4.1.

  • Where has the song information gone from the mini player?

I also hate the new iTunes 11. I could probably get along with its user unfriednlyness if they'd left the mini player alone. I like to keep this on top of my other windows so I know what's playing and how long a song has left to go. The new version removes this useful information in favour of a uselss mini LP cover that's too small for anyone to see. Does anyone know if there's way of getting back to the previous version without reverting back to iTunes 10. I tried this but it wouldn't let me because its linked iTuines with OS X.
I\'ve never complained about an upgrade before but this looks like it was put together by a bunch of idiots.

The new miniplayer also shows songinfo, but shows the playback controls on mouse-over (and hides song info) However! If you have one of the controls 'selected' (blue highlight) then the songinfo won't come up anytime. Try selecting the miniplayer and pushing TAB a few times.
Probably because you have this selected: (old screen, but same option)

  • Meta data (song information) not updating in mini player for radio stream

I notice in the mini player view, the meta data does not update for radio streams.  This is a big deal for me because I listen to radio stations all the time, and I don't want to have to switch between the mini player and full player to see the song information.  This wasn't an issue in iTunes 10 (and previous versions as I recall), where I could just click to toggle between the name of the station and the meta information.

I understand your concerns, but regarding the headphone jack, this is standard procedure. While you may have checked these things, and know more about the player, a lot of people will not check the basic things before contacting support. The Advisors have to check these things with you first to make sure they've been checked.
As far as transferring data goes, it is true that unfortunately we cannot transfer data over for you or make a back-up. Doing this for all the returns for different players would require a lot of resources, time and money, making the RMA process a lot longer for everyone. In some cases, it's even necessary to replace the harddri've or the whole player.

  • How do I have ONLY THE MINI PLAYER open when I click an Mp3 or M4a file? (Windows PC)

I don't want the entire iTunes interface opening when I just want to listen to a song. How do I go about setting iTunes to open in JUST the mini player?

Just to expand on Frank's answer: that's how Aperture works.  Stacks travel together.  You will see the same behavior regarding filtering in the Album that you see in the Project.  (Album is a container.  As with a Project, you can filter the Album container to show only items that meet your filter criteria, but the contents of the container don't change by being filtered.)
This is why Album picks are so useful.  In Projects, the Stack Pick is the left-most Image in the Stack, and is the Image that shows when the Stack is minimized.  In Albums, you can specify an Album Pick.  (The default Pick is the Stack Pick.)  When a Stack in an Album is collapsed, the Album Pick is the Image that shows on top.
    Added the following paragraph:
So you could have a Project with Stacks of bracketed exposures (an excellent use of Stacks), you could make the best of these the Pick, and then you could make an Album showing, say, the second best ones by putting them in an Album and designating the second-best Images as the Album Pick of each Stack.
You should have no trouble creating an Album of your selected Images (in this case, you are selecting by "is flagged").  With Stacks collapsed, you should see what you seem to want, which is a group of the Images you selected to be in the Album.
    denke wrote:
I want to make an album inside the project showing only the photos I uploaded, but I have not found how to do this.
That the rest of the Images in the Stack are there shouldn't be a concern.  Why is it?

  • Mini Player Won't Stap Open In All Spaces

How do I keep itunes mini player open in all spaaces?  Checking "keep player on top of all windows" doesn't seem to do it.  Haven't found another way to do this since upgrading to Lion 7.2.

Captfred, you're the man!  Thank you, it worked.  Just a note, when I looked there, "Assign to All Desktops" WAS already checked.  I unchecked it by choosing "This Desktop" and then re-cheecked the former and, indeed, it worked.  Thanks again.

  • Mini Player Issues

I've been using iTunes 9.2.0.61 and no matter how many times I try to drag the mini player to the lower right corner of my screen; anytime I maximize iTunes and re-minimize it to the mini player, the player re-centers itself in the middle of my screen. Any ideas as to why this would happen.

Why don't you describe the issues so we know what you are talking about.
