Large Pointer size using RDP

When I am using Microsoft RDP for Mac, I am having a problem with my mouse pointer size. It is HUGE. The resolution is set to 2880x1800 with 200dpi. Now when I use the computer locally it does not occur, when I use it remotely from a Windows machine it
does not occur. It only happens when I am using it from the Mac RDP Application from Microsoft.

Hi,
If you use 100 dpi, will the issue also occur?
Meanwhile, would you please provide us screenshots of the issue.
Thanks.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M425dn won't print text at 72 point size or larger

    My workplace recently purchased an HP LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M425dn all-in-one printer. It works excellently with the exception of the fact that it won't print text that's 72 points or larger in size. I've tried numerous fonts that're pre-installed with Windows, and all of them print properly at point size 71.5 or smaller; anything else simply doesn't show up in prints. The content that's sized at 72 points or higher *does* affect the flow of other printed content on the page, however. It's like the 72-point or larger text is occupying space, but it's completely invisible on the printed page. I've tested this using Microsoft Word 2002 on three separate computers, two of which have Windows 7 installed and one of which has Windows Vista installed. The problem is identical on all three computers. The printer is connected via ethernet cable to our wired network. I've installed the included printer software, and I don't believe that there are any updates to it that weren't installed up to this point. Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?

    hello, i only made an account to solve this for you guys because it has been a headache for me also.... let me apologize before hand for terrible grammar and punctuation i am in a huge hurry  Now this may not work for everybody but i fixed it on my machine with the following   now before you print ...use (ctrl+p) in your word processor to open the print window click on (properties) then navigate to the (advanced) tab now, I have a section called printer features under this category there is an option to "send truetype as bitmap" enable this and see if it can help any of you, for me, with this ENABLED I can print any size font my word processor will allow me to type  specs of my machinedell d6420win7msoft word 2007 printer itself is hp laserjet 200 color m276 printer driver is HP LaserJet 200 color MFP M276 PCL 6 i understand that this printer and driver is not identical to yours per se  but the nature of these drivers makes it highly likely that this solution will work for most of you  if this helps, have somebody else post it more noticeably because i will probly not be signing back in to this website i created this account just to post this and hopefully solve this annoying issue for many of you ...no kudos needed

    I've just discovered that different typefaces seem to have different auto-leading in Pages. I am used to default leading being 120% of point size (or some consistent rule), but it seems this is not so any more. The same text in 10pt Times New Roman, which I would expect to line up with 10pt Palatino, for example, doesn't. I've tried using the inspector, at least to get both faces to behave the same for given settings, but I haven't been able to. How much control does Pages allow for this type of settings, and are there any hidden secrets as to how to do so? Many thanks

    If you set the line spacing in the inspector to Exactly and 12 points for 10 point type, it will work the way you want.

  • Using large block sizes for index and table spaces

    " You are not using large blocksizes for your index tablespaces. Oracle research proves that indexes will build flatter tree structures in larger blocksizes.
    Is this a generic statement that I can use for all tables or indexes? I also have batch and online activity. My primary target is batch and it should not impact online. Not sure if both have common tables.
    How to find the current block size used for tables and index? is there a v$parameter query?
    What is an optimal block size value for batch?
    How do I know when flatter tree str has been achieved using above changes? Is there a query to determine this?
    What about tables, what is the success criterion for tables. can we use the same flat tree str criterion? Is there a query for this?

    Is this a generic statement that I can use for all tables or indexes? This is a generic statement used by some consultants. Unfortunately, it is riddled with exceptions and other considerations.
    One consultant in particular seems to have anecdotal evidence that using different block sizes for index (big) and data (small) can yield almost miraculous improvements. However, that can not be backed up due to NDA. Many of the rest of us can not duplicate the improvements, and indeed some find situations where that results in a degradation (esp with high insert/update rates from separated transactions).

    1) stop using generic tools to analyze specific problems
    2) define you problem in detail ()what are you really trying to accomplish - seems like performance tuning, but you never really state that)
    3) define the OS and DB version - in detail. Give rev levels and patch levels.
    If you are having a serious performance issue, I strongly recommend you look at some performance tuning specialists like "http://www.method-r.com/", "http://www.miracleas.dk/", "http://www.hotsos.com/", "http://www.pythian.com/", or even Oracle's Performance Tuning consultants. Definitely worth the price of admission.

  • My jpeg file sizes are much larger than they used to be.

    Just recently the file sizes on my .jpeg files have become excessively larger than they used to be just a week or so ago. Where I used to go almost a week to need to archive to DVD a bunch of saved images, I've now got to save to DVD almost daily.
    For example, a 300x300 pixel image which shoud be about 32 Kb reads 383 Kb in the finder. I'm not doing anything to these images, just draging and droping.
    Where I used to get 7 K files on a DVD, I'm now getting less than 2 K files to each disc.
    Any thoughts on what's changed and how to fix it?

    What App & JPEG compression rating are you using, some apps can reduce file size by dropping colors for instance...

  • Using my iMac, how do I customize the point size of the text on Office365

    I have this beautiful iMac monitor.  I just upgraded to Office365 Home Edition and now I have navigation bars and columns that have text that is hard for me to read.  I simply want to move from 8 pt type, or whatever they're using, to 12 pt type size.   Is there a way to increase the point size on the font and otherwise customize, for this particular application?
    Thanks very much.

  • Why is my stroke so bumpy when I use large brush sizes?

    I always have to erase a ton around the edges in order to make it smooth.  Any way to fix this?  I'm using a Turcom tablet on Adobe Photoshop Elements 8, but this happened with all other tablets I used, too (Wacom).  I can never get a smooth line with large brush sizes.  I usually only have size checked in my brush tablet pressure options.

    Just to clarify, I mean closer together. When you draw with a brush in a program like PSE you are actually putting down many repetitions of the brush cursor itself. You need more overlap to avoid seeing the edges of each outline.
    Or you could try a softer brush.

  • Any reliable cases where larger block sizes are useful?

    So I did some googling around to read up on 16kb or larger blocksizes. I found a series of articles by Jonathan Lewis and Richard Foote (plus other DBAs whose posts I trust ) debunking the usage of larger blocksize. I have not been able to find a single article, blog post, forum post, with a legitimate case where a larger block size actually improves performance. Its hard to google this stuff because the good stuff is buried beneath all the trash.
    So have any of the Oak Table people and other guys who write articles where they do quality testing find cases where larger block sizes are useful?
    I don't have a specific need. I'm just curious. Every time I  look this up I get buried in generic copy and paste blog posts that copy the docs, the generic test cases that were debunked, by the guys above, and other junk. So its hard to look for this.

    Lurking in the various things I've written about block sizes there are a couple of comments about using different block sizes (occasionally) for LOBs - though this might be bigger or smaller depending on the sizes of the actual LOBs and the usage pattern: it also means you automatically separate the LOB cache from the main cache, which can be very helpful.
    I've also suggested that for IOTs (index organized tables) where the index entries can be fairly large and you don't want to create an overflow segment you may get some benefit if the larger block size typically allows all rows for a give (partial) key value to reside in just one or two blocks.  The same argument can apply, though with slightly less strength for "fat" indexes (i.e. ones you've added columns to in order to avoid visiting the table for very impoartant time-critical queries).  The drawback in these two cases is that you're second-guessing, and to an extent choking, the LRU algorithms, and you may find that the gain on the specific indexes is obliterated by the loss on the rest of the caching activity.

  • Cannot print using RDP, with a custom page size ,on HP Laserjet M1217nfw MFP

    Dear Team,
    i have on the server win 2008 R2 standard , i have installed the drivers of HP Laserjet M1217nfw MFP printer ,
    on the client i have win pro 7 SP1.
    i need to print through RDP the documents generated in my application which i access remotely using RDP.
    i know the printer drivers are installed on client and server both.
    the issue is of creation of custom pages to print the document in proper format so that it prints in the client PC with proper formatting.
    we are currently successfully printing on HP Laserjet P3015 printer but at a different location. and i have 5 branches still to be able to print this document from the application,
    I need you advise and assistance as to how do i go about achieving my objective with this printer,
    Thanking you in advance

    Hello JBC666,
    I understand that you are having an issue with printing wireless from your M1217nfw. I can understand how frustrating this can be. I would like to confirm a couple of things with you to get better understanding of your setup.
    1) How far away from the printer is the router?
    2) Has there been an recent changes that could have caused the issue?
    As well printing a network test report, is an excellent option to find out if there is any issues with the connection at all. I have included the following steps to print the test.
    1) Press the wrench button
    2) Press the right arrow until you see Network Config
    3) Press Ok
    4) Press the right arrow until you see Network Test
    5) Press Ok
    1) Does anything fail on this test?
    2) What is the signal quality?
    3) Are you able to view the printers embedded web server?
        Steps to accessing the embedded web server
        1) Open up your internet browser
        2) Type the IP address (from the test report) into the address bar
        3) Press Enter
    Thank you.

  • New FAQ Entry on JVM Parameters for Large Cache Sizes

    I've posted a new [FAQ entry|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/faq/je_faq.html#60] on JVM parameters for large cache sizes. The text of it is as follows:
    What JVM parameters should I consider when tuning an application with a large cache size?
    If your application has a large cache size, tuning the Java GC may be necessary. You will almost certainly be using a 64b JVM (i.e. -d64), the -server option, and setting your heap and stack sizes with -Xmx and -Xms. Be sure that you don't set the cache size too close to the heap size so that your application has plenty of room for its data and to avoided excessive full GC's. We have found that the Concurrent Mark Sweep GC is generally the best in this environment since it yields more predictable GC results. This can be enabled with -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC.
    Best practices dictates that you disable System.gc() calls with -XX:-DisableExplicitGC.
    Other JVM options which may prove useful are -XX:NewSize (start with 512m or 1024m as a value), -XX:MaxNewSize (try 1024m as a value), and -XX:CMSInitiatingOccupancyFraction=55. NewSize is typically tuned in relationship to the overall heap size so if you specify this parameter you will also need to provide a -Xmx value. A convenient way of specifying this in relative terms is to use -XX:NewRatio. The values we've suggested are only starting points. The actual values will vary depending on the runtime characteristics of the application.
    You may also want to refer to the following articles:

    First of all please be aware HSODBC V10 has been desupported and DG4ODBC should be used instead.
    The root cause the problem you describe could be related to a timeout of the ODBC driver (especially while taking care of the comment: it happens only for larger tables):
    (0) [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]MySQL server has gone away (SQL State: S1T00; SQL
    (0) Code: 2006)
    indicates the Driver or the DB abends the connection due to a timeout.
    Check out the wait_timeout mysql variable on the server and increase it.

  • Scaled text point sizes different.

    If i do a text box and put say 16 point text in it, then (as part of a group or folder) scale that text box (say 200%), i get irregular point sizes.
    If i use the text tool and select the enlarged copy, the character palette tells me i have 16 point copy still (even though it plainly isnt).
    If its a single point size and not larger headings, i can use the move tool and it will tell me the faux size - but thats no work around.
    So in short, how do i scale (using the transform tool) copy and it enlarge the actual point size of the copy.
    Hopefully that makes sense.
    Thanks for your time
    Warren

    So (in Photoshop 13.0.4 x64 Extended) i create some text:
    You can see its 24 point. I then use the transform tool to enlarge it (in this case 200%) and then when i select it, the text says its stil 24pt - when it clearly isnt.
    Does that not do it with yours then?
    Thanks for your time.

  • Can we expand OCFS2 mount point Size by adding additional LUN?

    can we expand OCFS2 mount point Size by adding additional LUN?

    Looks like it should be possible....see if this helps:
    extract from:http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2/dist/documentation/ocfs2_faq.html
    # Can OCFS2 file systems be grown in size?
    Yes, you can grow an OCFS2 file system using tunefs.ocfs2. It should be noted that the tool will only resize the file system and not the underlying partition. You can use fdisk(8) (or any appropriate tool for your disk array) to resize the partition.
    # What do I need to know to use fdisk(8) to resize the partition?
    To grow a partition using fdisk(8), you will have to delete it and recreate it with a larger size. When recreating it, ensure you specify the same starting disk cylinder as before and a ending disk cylinder that is greater than the existing one. Otherwise, not only will the resize operation fail, but you may lose your entire file system. Backup your data before performing this task.

  • How do I find, at-a-glance, the sample size used in several music files?

    How do I find, at-a-glance, the sample size used in several music files?
    Of all the fields available in a FInder Search, "Sample Size" is not available. Finder does offer a "Bits per Sample" field, but it only recognized graphic files and not music files.
    Running 10.8.5 on an iMac i5.
    I did search through a couple of communities but came up empty.
    Thank you,
    Craig

    C-squared,
    There is no View Option to allow display of a column of sample size.
    For WAV or Apple Lossless files, it is available on the Summary tab (one song at a time, as you know).  For MP3 and AAC it is not available at all.
    You can roughly infer it from the files that are larger than expected for their time.
    99% of the music we use is at the CD standard of 16-bit, so I can guess that displaying it has never been a priority.  However, if you want to make a suggestion to Apple, use this link:

  • How do I set up iPhoto '11 version 9.2.1 to send emails with medium/Large/actual size? I try sending photos to a publisher and iPhoto automatically shrinks them to about 40 kB.  Publisher needs between 0.5 and 7 MB.  My ISP has a limit of 12MB

    How can I get to email photos at higher resolution?
    My "iPhoto" or "Mail" automatically reduces photos to about 40 KB .
    My photos, taken with a  common Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 include flora which I send to a publisher.
    I am fairly new to my MacBook (Mac S X Version 10.6.8).  I have been using it for a year.
    I found I could not successfully send Large or Full size photos.
    A few days ago I downloaded a new version of iPhoto (iPhoto '11 version 9.2.1).
    Again, although I get the option of choosing to send small/medium/large//full size photos, it actually only sends them as "Small" (ie about 40kb) which is useless to publish.  If I drag a picture onto the desktop (where my EXIF tells me it is full size) then attach it to an email by dragging, againg the sent email is at "small" size ~40KB).
    My ISP (Westnet) tells me that their maximum accepted size is 12 MB.
    I suspect that I have failed to set up iPhoto for this purpose.  (I am well into retirement but, although geriatric, did study University Physics about half a century ago)

    I am trying (and failing) to utilize large page sizes on a Solaris 9 machine.
    # uname -a

    and
    "Taming Your Emu to Improve Application Performance (February 2004)"
    http://www.sun.com/blueprints/0204/817-5489.pdf
    The machine claims it supports 4M page sizes:
    # pagesize -a
    8192
    65536
    524288
    4194304
    I've written a very simple program:
    main()
    int sz = 10*1024*1024;
    int x = (int)malloc(sz);
    print_info((void**)&x, 1);
    while (1) {
    int i = 0;
    while (i < (sz/sizeof(int))) {
    x[i++]++;
    I run it specifying a 4M heap size:
    # ppgsz -o heap=4M ./malloc_and_sleep
    address 0x21260 is backed by physical page 0x300f5260 of size 8192
    pmap also shows it has an 8K page:
    pmap -sx `pgrep malloc` | more

    (The last 2 lines above show about 10M of heap, with a pgsz of 8K.)
    I'm running this as root.
    In addition to the ppgsz approach, I have also tried using memcntl and mmap'ing ANON memory (and others). Memcntl gives an error for 2MB page sizes, but reports success with a 4MB page size - but still, pmap reports the memcntl'd memory as using an 8K page size.
