Large Value problem with Oracle Provider for 9.2.0.7.0 and 10.1.0.4.0

Hi,
There is table having single column "SCORE" as shown below.
| SCORE |
|9.0000E+33 |
|8.0000E+33 |
|7.0000E+33 |
|6.0000E+33 |
I am trying to fetch column SCORE from above table in database. The type of column SCORE is NUMBER. With Oracle Provider for OLE DB 9.0.1.0.1 everything works fine.
But when I use 9.2.0.7.0 or 10.1.0.4.0 , Recordset::rawGetRows() returns -2147217845. Is there is any limit on value retrived using Recordset::rawGetRows() in newer versions of Oracle Provider for OLE DB?
Please help.
Thanks and Regards,
AC

Hi,
Yes, i've take it off but i still have the same error...
Anyway, like the, the people from hardware, were able to recover the 32Bit Oracle9.2 system, what do you think of use the old system to make the export, and then import into the new one 64Bit and Oracle10.2 ?
Homogeneous system copy by r3load method?
Is it possible right!?
More easy and a cleaner installation?

    A Problem With Oracle-Provided 'Working' Example Using htp.formcheckbox
    I followed the simple steps in the Oracle-provided example:
    Doc ID: Note:116534.1
    Subject: How to use checkbox in webdb for bulk update using webdb report
    However, when I select a checkbox and click on the Update button, I get a "ORA-01036: illegal variable name/number" error. Please advise. This was a very promising feature.
    Fred
    Below are step-by-step instructions provided by Oracle to create this "working" example:
    How to use a checkbox in WEBDB 2.2 report for bulk update.
    PURPOSE
    This article shows how checkbox can used placed on WEBDB report
    and how to use it.
    SCOPE & APPLICATION
    The following example to guide through the steps to create a working
    example of this.
    In this example, the checkbox is used to select the records. On clicking
    the update button, the pl/sql procedure is called which will update col1 to
    the string 'OK'.
    After the update is done, the PL/SQL procedure calls the report again.
    Since the report only select records where col1 is null, the updated
    records will not be displayed when the report is called again.
    Step 1 - Create Table
    From Sqlplus, log in as scott/tiger and execute the following:
    drop table chkbox_example;
    create table chkbox_example
    (id varchar2(10) not null,
    comments varchar2(20),
    col1 varchar2(10));
    Step 2 - Insert Test Data
    From Sqlplus, still logged in as scott/tiger , execute the following:
    declare
    l_i number;
    begin
    for l_i in 1..50 loop
    insert into chkbox_example values (l_i, 'Comments ' || l_i , NULL);
    end loop;
    commit;
    end;
    Step 3 -Create SQL Query based WEBDB report
    Logon to a WEBDB site which has access to the database the above tables are created.
    Create a SQL based Report.
    Name the report :RPT_CHKBOX
    The select statement for the report is :
    select c.id, c.comments, c.col1,
    htf.formcheckbox('p_qty',c.id) Tick
    from SCOTT.chkbox_example c
    where c.col1 is null
    In Advanced PL/SQL, (REPORT, Before displaying the form), put the following code
    htp.formOpen('scott.chkbox_process');
    htp.formsubmit('p_request','Update');
    htp.br;
    htp.br;
    Step 4 - Create a stored procedure in the database
    Log on to the database as scott/tiger and execute the following to create the
    procedure.
    Note: Replace WEBDB to the appropriate webdb user for your installation.
    In my database, I had installed webdb using WEBDB username, hence user webdb owns
    the packages.
    create or replace procedure chkbox_process
    ( p_request in varchar2 default null,
    p_qty in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr ,
    p_arg_names in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr ,
    p_arg_values in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr
    is
    i number;
    begin
    for i in 1..p_qty.count loop
    if p_qty(i) is not null then
    begin
    update chkbox_example
    set col1 = 'OK'
    where chkbox_example.id = p_qty(i);
    end;
    end if;
    end loop;
    commit;
    /* To Call Report again after updating */
    SCOTT.RPT_CHKBOX.show
    (p_request=>'Run Report',
    p_arg_names=>webdb.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(' '),
    p_arg_values=>webdb.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(' '));
    end;
    Summary
    There are essentially 2 main modules, The WEBDB report and the pl/sql procedure (chkbox_process)
    A button is created via the advanced pl/sql coding which shows on top of the report. (The
    button cannot be placed at the bottom of the report due to the way WEBDB creates the procedure
    internally)
    When any button is clicked on the report, it calls the pl/sql procedure chkbox_process.
    The procedure is called , WEBDB always passes the parameters p_request,p_arg_names and o_arg_values.
    p_qty is another parameter that we are passing additionally, This comes from the checkbox created
    using the htf.formcheckbox in the report select statement.
    The pl/sql procedure calls the report again after processing. This is done to
    show how to call the report.
    Restrictions:
    -The Next and Prev buttons on the report will not work.
    So it is important that the report can fit in 1 page only.
    (This may mean that you will not select(not ticked) 'Paginate' under
    'Display Option' in the WEBDB report. If you do this,
    then in Step 4, remove p_arg_names and p_arg_values as input parameters
    to the chkbox_process)

    If your not so sure you can use the instanceof
    insurance,
    Object o = evt.getSource();
    if (o instanceof Button) {
    Button source = (Button) o;
    I haven't thoroughly read the thread, but I use something like this:if (evt.getSource() == someObjRef) {
        // do that voodoo
    ]I haven't looked into why you'd be creating a new reference...

    My platform is AS 10g (10.1.2.0.2) with Adapters (10.1.2.0.2) on Solaris 10. I am connecting to a Siebel 7.8 instance running on Windows 2000 SP4.
    I would be very grateful of any help you could give.
    Regards,
    Mark.

    Hi,
    There could be couple of possible reasons for this. Please see below:
    1. When you configure a adapter target for Siebel 7.7 or 7.8, do not supply a value for "Siebel Server" field. Please see details related to this in the "Defining a Target to Siebel" section of the Siebel adapter user guide.
    2. If the adapter is installed in the UNIX platform, then necessary encoding should be added to the Application Explorer and the Application Server. Please see the details for this in the "Establishing a Connection (Target) for Siebel" of the Siebel adapter user guide.
    Let me know whether this sorts out the issue or not.
    Regards,
    Kris

    Hi Chhayank,
    the problem is not the exported xls. If you have a look inside with Notepad or something like that, you will see that your leading zeros are exported correct.Excel-settings occurs this problem, it is all about how to open the document. If you use the import-assistant you will have no problems because there are options available how to handle the different columns.
    Another solution might be to get familiar with ABAP2XLS-Project. I got in my mind, that there is a method implemented, that will help you solving this problem. But that is not a five minute job

  • Problem with ORACLE database

    Hi all,
    I am facing some problem with ORACLE database while configuring one JDBC scenario in the receiver side. I have configured one JDBC scenario like FILE TO JDBC. As JDBC is at receiver side i have provided the input file with the following format ,
    <root>
      <StatementName1>
         <dbTableName action="INSERT">
             <table>employee</table>
              <access>
                    <flag>NO</flag>
                    <ID>567</ID>
             <NAME>134</NAME>
                 </access>
         </dbTableName>
      </StatementName1>
    </root>
    But in the ORACLE database all my columns are in the uppercase.
    So when i have tried to send this input file to process through JDBC receiver side then i have faced the below error :
    FATAL ERROR: Column 'flag' does not exist in table 'employee'
    Then I have tried to check with sender side processing of JDBC adapter. By using the SQL statements as
    SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE flag='NO'
    UPDATE EMPLOYEE SET Flag='YES'  WHERE flag='NO'
    Here it worked fine.
    Now my question is,
    If the same adapter is working when we are writing a query directly(sender side), then we must also allow case independence in the auto generated SQL part(receiver side).
    The JDBC drivers for both SQL server and Oracle, supports the same java code, for accessing the DB, irrespective of the case of the column names.
    Please clarify this doubt as soon as possible.
    Thanks,
    Soorya.

    Hi Dharmaveer,
    When I go with the following input file,
    <root>
      <StatementName1>
         <dbTableName action="INSERT">
             <table>EMPLOYEE</table>
              <access>
                    <FLAG>NO</FLAG>
                    <ID>666</ID>
                    <NAME>SSS</NAME>
                 </access>
             </dbTableName>
      </StatementName1>
    </root>
    I will get the following query with succesfull processing.
    INSERT INTO  EMPLOYEE (FLAG, ID, NAME) VALUES (NO, 666, SSS)
    when i go with this input file,
    <root>
      <StatementName1>
         <dbTableName action="INSERT">
             <table>EMPLOYEE</table>
              <access>
                                    <flag>NO</flag>
                                   <ID>777</ID>
                        <NAME>TTTT</NAME>
                        </access>
                   </dbTableName>
      </StatementName1>
    </root>
    Then i am facing this problem,
    Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'EMPLOYEE' (structure 'StatementName1'): java.sql.SQLException: FATAL ERROR: Column 'flag' does not exist in table 'EMPLOYEE'
    Here I cant get any SQL statement as it is not successfull.
    I have gone through your link but it also says to modify the column in the input file which is not possible for me. Can you please help me in this regard?
    Thanks,
    Soorya

  • ORacle provider for OLEDB

    Hi,
    I've downloaded and installed Oracle client. I can connect to the database using SQLPLUS. Tnsnames.ora file is in place.
    My question is how do I activate Oracle Provider of OLEDB?
    I tried to create a udl file can be used to test the connection (referred in the link provided below). To create a udl file on the desktop choose to create a new text document and name it with the .udl extension. But on the Provider page I can't see the option for "Oracle Provider for OLEDB" .
    https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html#tab=KBHome(page=KBHome&id=()),(page=KBNavigator&id=(viewingMode=1143&from=BOOKMARK&bmDocTitle=When%20Logging%20into%20FDM%20Receive%20%22Error:%20%20ORA-12154:%20TNS:%20could%20not%20resolve%20service%20name%22&bmDocType=PROBLEM&bmDocDsrc=DOCUMENT&bmDocID=597375.1))
    I can see that OLEDB folder exists under <ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME>\oledb
    Any pointers will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Gaurav,
    Well the installer is not running on MS windows 2008. It just terminates abnormally with some UNknown error.Then please read below thread carefully, try to follow around it. If still problem then I think post the question on dedicated forum [url https://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=148&start=0]Oracle Provider for OLE DB

  • Oracle Provider for Membership and Roles not running

    Hi Everyone,
    I ran the ASP.Net Configuration and select the 'Provider' tab.
    When I choose 'Select a single provider for all site management data', only AspNetSqlProvider is shown.
    When I choose 'Select a different provider for each feature (advanced)', I see the Oracle Provider for Membership and Roles. I select both then try to enter 'Security' tab. It will hang then come back with this error:
    "There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store. "
    Any solutions to this...........

  • Oracle Provider for OLE DB Error

    Hello all.
    Can anyone help me understanding why using a statement like
    select * from openquery( linkservername, 'select * from table' )
    fails with
    Server: Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
    OLE DB provider 'OraOLEDB.Oracle' reported an error.
    [OLE/DB provider returned message: ]
    OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'OraOLEDB.Oracle' IRowset::GetData returned 0x80004005:   ].
    On the sql server side, when using the Oracle Provider for OLE DB, but success when I change the linked server to use Microsoft Oracle Provider for OLE DB? It makes no sense to me. Sometimes, when I add a rownum <= 100 it does work with the Oracle OLE DB Provider. As you can see, I installed Oracle Client 10g on the sql server running version 2000, and created a linked server to an Oracle server running Oracle 10.2.4.0. The queries work fine with the Microsoft driver, but fail with the above message when using the oracle native driver.
    For your information, here's the select @@version from the sql server database.
    Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86) Dec 17 2002 14:22:05 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
    Just wanted to know what might the problem as using the Microsoft driver the session doesn't seem to use FCF.
    Any other information you may need, just let me know.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I'm not familiar with that particular error, but if you're not already using 10204 oledb/client, I'd certainly do that as a first step. There were lots of issues fixed in our oledb provider since 10201.
    Hope it helps,

  • Oracle Provider for OLE DB 10.1.0.2.0

    Hi,
    I installed 10g client on my local PC to get access to an ASP application using 10g database. The select always returns no row for a username, therefore, I could not login to the application. But the sqlStatement in SQL*Plus did return a row. More strangely, one script also uses Oracle Provider for OLE DB 10.1.0.2.0 works without any problem.
    In Oracle Provider for OLE DB 10.1.0.2.0 documentation, it has the following as system requirements:
    System Requirements
    The following items are required on a system to use Oracle Provider for OLE DB:
    1.Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows Server 2003
    2.Access to an Oracle database (Oracle8i or later)
    3. Oracle Net Services
    4. Redistributable files provided with Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.1 or higher are required by the provider. These files are available at the Microsoft Web site:
    http://www.microsoft.com/data/
    5. Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server release 10.1 or higher. This is required for consumers using Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) or COM+.
    I think that I might need to download the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). I went to Microsoft web site, and the latest version for MDAC is 2.8. Anybody has any experience with this? Am I on the right track? I don't want to mess up with my machine by installing MDAC 2.8 if it does not solve the problem.
    Thanks, and your early reply is greatly appreciated.
    Jane

    Well, if some of the required componets were missing, I would imagine you getting an error when trying to connect?
    Where is this ASP application actually running?
    Is it running on your localhost IIS web server?
    If not, any setup on your computer will be irrelevent.
    If it is, you need to install MDAC components, and 2.8 is the latest.
    If running on your local IIS, did you try to create a very basic ASP page which just creates a connection to the database in question? Does that work?
    Do you have ON ERROR statements in your code to bypass any/all SQL errors?
    If you create a simple UDL file on your desktop and specify the server/user/password (ater selecting Oracle OLEDB driver), does the connect button work?

  • Unable to add a stored proc through Oracle Provider for OLE DB

    I want to bind an oracle stored procedure to a report. This oracle stored procedure returns a cursor.
    Problem Definition:
    When I use the "Oracle Provider For OLE DB driver." to bind the store procedure with the report, I am getting the following message.
    Description : ORA -06550 Line 1 Column 7
    PLS 00306 wrong number of types or arguments to the "Strored Procedure Name"
    But When I use "Microsoft OLE DB provider for oracle" driver, I can bind the stored procedure to the report successfully .
    Please help me in resolving this problem.
    My Stored procedure is something like this.
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE GroupsPackage
    AS
    TYPE CURSOR_TYPE IS REF CURSOR;
    PROCEDURE usp_SelectGroups (int intInputI IN ,Dresults_cursor OUT CURSOR_TYPE);
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY GroupsPackage
    AS
    PROCEDURE usp_SelectGroups (int intInputI IN ,results_cursor OUT CURSOR_TYPE)
    AS
    BEGIN
    OPEN results_cursor FOR
    SELECT GroupID, GroupName, GroupDescription, LastUpdateDate
    FROM Groups
    ORDER BY GroupName;
    END;
    END;

    I think the following SAP Note would help you
    Symptom
    You create a BusinessObjects report and call an Oracle stored function through an object defined in Designer. The stored function name contains a number (like MyFunc2). You refresh the query and receive the error, "Connection or SQL sentence error (DA0005)" followed by, "ORA-06553: PLS-306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to '<function name>' 6552."
    You see the incorrect SQL when you open the query panel in BusinessObjects.
    Cause
    The function defined on the database has several parameters, each separated by a comma. BusinessObjects replaces this comma by a concatenation operator ('||'). Thus the database does not understand the SQL statement.
    Resolution
    ****CONFIGURATION*****
    Business Objects version 5.x
    Oracle database version 8.1.6
    *********RESOLUTION*****
    Here are two workarounds for this issue:
    Workaround 1
    Modify the SQL generated in the query panel.
    1. Replace the concatenation operators ('ll') with commas.
    2. Check the option "Do not regenerate SQL."
    Workaround 2
    Rename your Oracle function to a name with no digits or numbers.

    I have a RHEL4(Linux) 64 system I can test and post my notes here as an edit.
    For Java based web applications to work, the Firefox 3.6 browser requires you to run Java SE 6 Update 18 or later.
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u22/index.html
    jre-6u22-linux-x64.bin
    As root
    cd /usr
    mkdir java
    cd java
    With a copy of "jre-6u22-linux-x64.bin" in /usr/java/
    Change the permission of the file you downloaded to be executable. Type:
    chmod a+x jre-6u22-linux-x64.bin
    Run the self-extracting binary Type
    ./jre-6u22-linux-x64.bin
    The license agreement is displayed. Review the agreement.
    Press the spacebar to display the next page.
    At the end, enter yes to proceed with the installation.
    Did not display on mine
    Double check of mozilla install
    find / -name mozilla -print
    /usr/share/mozilla
    /usr/lib64/mozilla
    cd /usr/lib64/mozilla/
    mkdir plugins
    Exit Firefox browser if it is already running.
    Create a symbolic link to the libnpjp2.so file in the browser plugins directory
    ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_22/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
    Restart and test firefox
    about:plugins (works)

    MORE
    The application less happy until I changed these lines in my formsweb.cfg
    jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0_22
    jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0022-ABCDEFFEDCBA
    Seems it wanted the exact JRE version that was installed.

    ur problem is that u install latest version and now u trying to installing old version.
    now u need to uninstall 10g and delete oracle from services, if the probleme presist then u should
    install fresh windows 7.

    SaqibNo need to install a fresh OS. That's like tearing your house down just because you wired a lamp wrong and blew a circuit breaker.
    There are MeaLink notes on how to eradicate an Oracle install from Windows, but it boils down to this:
    Stop all Oracle services
    In the registery:
    - Delete all oracle services from the register (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
    - Delete the entire Oralce folder from HKLM\Software
    reboot
    Delete the ORACLE_HOME directory and any other Oracle related directories/files. Offhand, it seems like there is an Oracle directory under Program Files.
    reboot
