Larger cursors in PS 7.0

I can change the default cusor in XP Pro but it doesn't carry over to PS. The preferences/display&cursors tab is limited.
What I need is a heavier cursor or full cross hairs. I'm running 1920 x 1200 on a 22 inch Sony LCD screen. With aging eyes it's too difficult to pick up the tiny cross cursor on various photo backgrounds.
Any ideas?
Chas.

What I don't understand is how Adobe still only seems to offer a single-pixel wide set of tool cursors. That was fine back when most people had 640 x 480 screens or with $ and luck 800 x 600.
When are they going to get with it??? Pixels are much finer on modern displays.

  • Large cursors for VI users

I would like to install large cursors for visual impaired Adobe Acrobat or Reader users. Microsoft Windows allows a range of options for large cursors, but these are not available to use in Adobe products. VI users effectively lose the cursor when it changes to a highlight icon, for example. Any suggestions?

What do you call a high number of open cursors? The database default is 256 I believe, but I have seen values of 500-1000 as a normal value too.

  • Very large cursor

Using most applications, Stickies, TextEdit, Quark, the initial display cursor is very large, 1.5". I can type and the text is the usual size, I think Helvetica 12 pt as default, but the cursor is still way too big. When I change the point size of the text either larger or smaller, the cursor eventually becomes a normal size.
Also, Mac Help menu displays the text of the help pages with gigantic spacing between each line of type, even though the text is normal size.
It's as if the default leading has become very large, although I haven't made that change that I know of.
Any ideas of what to do?

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
Open your System Preferences/Universal Access preference pane, check in "Seeing" to insure that "Zoom" isn't selected.
Also check the settings for "Mouse"- you can move the slider to change the size of the cursor.

  • Making a larger cursor??

Somewhere I once read about being able to set the cursor to a larger size? I've got too many screens going right now ... too much landscape to find that little cursor in.
    Any suggestions?
    All ears,

    HI Ben,
Open System Preferences/Universal Access and click the Mouse tab. Where you see:
For difficulties seeing the mouse... use that slider to increase the cursor size.

  • Larger Cursor on the Front Panel

    Hello,
I wanted to know if anyone knows how to make the mouse cursor on the front panel larger.  I looked at the Cursor VIs built into LabVIEW, but it seems none of them actually change the size of the cursor, but just the cursor image.
    Thank you,

Thank you for your help.  I am using Windows XP.
The link you sent does the same thing as the Create Cursor From File.vi that is part of the cursor VIs in LV, see the attached image.  The VIs you mentioned were written in LV 5 and I think that was before they had the built in cursor VIs.
It looks like you can use the Create Cursor From File.vi to create a custom cursor, but I think the size is limited to 16 X 16 image. So it wouldn't make the cursor any larger.  I think what I need to some way to scale the cursor itself not just change the image.
Any help you can give me would be great.

  • Please Help. Mom's Glaucoma Needs Large Cursor To Type With

    Hello!
I really desperately need help here. My mom has glaucoma and still trying to write long letters to her fam and friends. She prefers a black background and white lettering with Arial 72, bue still has bad trouble trying to see a cursor to move the mouse by. I'm trying to use Mariner Write and OpenOffice and Bean and Text Edit to find a program that can oversize the cursor or turn it into a thick block cursor and if possible change it to a red color for better contrast as well. I went through the docs and manuals of these programs but they don't seem to allow you to change the cursor much. Is there any way?
I'll be posting this at those text processor forum sites as well, but in case any of you here know any tricks I'm posting here too, hopefully in the right topic.
We'd appreciate any help at all!
    Thank you,

  • Large cursor pointer erases screen where touched

    Universal Access-->Mouse-->CursorSize
Setting larger pointer size causes moving pointer to erase presentation screen on Keynote 5.0.3. No problem on 4.0.4.
It is a serious problem for lectures if students cannot see the pointer, or if the pointer erases whatever it moves over. Has this bug been repaired on later versions of Keynote?

Ooohh, that's a NASTY one, and no, there doesn't appear to be a fix out yet. Be sure to send this to Apple via the feedback page.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/keynote.html
And, just to add, it seems like the sizing has no effect when set to the halfway point. When I pushed past that, pixel by pixel, it still seems to have no effect on the underlying presentation until I've moved the point 11 pixels to the right past halfway.

  • I NEED a larger cursor & TOOLTIPS because I am visually impaired. In use, the text is always covered by the cursor and as such is unreadable and therefore u s

Most comfortable AND practical cursor size for me seems to be midway between MAX and MIN. I like a minimum of 12 point text (14 is better) but some text is provided as an image in small type (useless) and many times editors allow 10 or even 8 point text. I don't want or need high contrast, I will not use flashing text, It would be nice to receive consideration and have this nightmare solved.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

For Windows users I may suggest tools and advice from the following site, and It may also be possible to get advice relating to Mac over there.

I know in Windows cursor size and features can be modified from the Windows control panel. It may be worth trying to ask on Mac sites to see it thy can help you.
Regarding modifying text of the browsers webpage content possibly the addon no squint would help you. Or for even higher customisation consider grease monkey scripts

  • Cursors in 8.1.7 db

Not sure if this is the right area to ask, but here goes anyway.
We have just swapped applications to a new solaris box and as part of the change have had to upgrade the dB from version 8.1.5 to 8.1.7.
Generally, this has resulted in an massive performance gain, but we are experiencing one or two strange things.
As part of our batch process we use two large cursors too select relevant records for pocessing.
These appear to work far more slowly in the new system, even though the explain plans have been improved as the optimizer seems to be working differently.
Our guess is that something has changed with the way cursors are handled in 8.1.7, but we cant seem to track it down.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks
    Richard

    Hi,
When you moved to the new box did you inadvertently copy both the datafiles and the indexes to the same drive? Access to these files run concurrently and quickly when set up on different drives.
Did you update your statistics recently? This may be part of the performance problem.
Do you have the log files and the datafiles and some other currently heavily accessed file located all on the same disk? This will increase your response time due to contention for disk head reads and rights. The log files should be kept on separate disks for continual archiving.
Check your shared memory structures. Are they adequate? If they are not large enough for your cursor then oracle has to write to disk to accomodate the for the lack of memory. This increase of temporary writes to disk only increases the response time for your answer.
    Hope this helps.

I am trying to build a cursor to fetch the records from the table. Table structure is something like this.

    distmgrfname VARCHAR2(40 CHAR) DEFAULT 'rfname',

    isoppstatusselected CHAR(1 CHAR) DEFAULT 'Y',
    oppcount NUMBER DEFAULT 0,
    oppamount NUMBER DEFAULT 0,
    oppquote NUMBER DEFAULT 0,
    Attribute1 VARCHAR2(10 CHAR),
    Attribute2 VARCHAR2(15 CHAR),
    Attribute3 NUMBER,
    Attribute4 NUMBER
But from the above table, I am trying to build a report for which I need a cursor which I listed in the proc. Is it not possible to build a cursor within a cursor?
Yes each individual cursor return only one row.

What is the maximum size of mouse cursor in Windows 8.1?

In Windows 7 all is OK. Cursor dimentions 1000x1000.
But there is strange thing - it scales on Windows 8.1 to 32x32 size. Enabling compatibility modes doesn't help. Is it OS limitation?
    Thanks in advance for response.

probably. 1000x1000 is a large cursor size!

  • How to make a custom cursor

How do you make a custom Cursor with the Cursor class, so that I can use it in my program.
And also, how do you make a LookAndFeel??

    To make a cursor use:
    createCustomCursor public Cursor createCustomCursor(Image cursor,
                                     Point hotSpot,
                                     String name)
                              throws IndexOutOfBoundsException, HeadlessException
Creates a new custom cursor object. If the image to display is invalid, the cursor will be hidden
(made completely transparent), and the hotspot will be set to (0, 0). Parameters:hotSpot - the X
and Y of the large cursor's hot spot. The hotSpot values must be less than the Dimension returned
by getBestCursorSize().name - a localized description of the cursor, for Java Accessibility use.
Throws: IndexOutOfBoundsException - if the hotSpot values are outside the bounds of the cursor.

  • Photoshop CS5 constantly changing my cursor

Photoshop CS5 is constantly changing my standard Windows cursor from a normal arrow to a very big arrow. This is really driving me nuts, because I have to change that over and over again. No other program does this. BTW. I`m also using an Intuos 2, if that can have anything to do with it. I`m using Win7 64bit Ultimate.

I've just started having this problem today. The cursor is fine when starting up my computer and using it, but as soon as I use Photoshop, the cursor becomes enlarged. Furthermore, I can't use any of the tools in Photoshop, it's stuck on paint brush! I can click on any of the tools in the toolbox (say, selection box), but the cursor still shows as a paint brush, and it will paint a brush stroke when I drag (mouse or tablet). Quitting Photoshop and the large cursor problem persists until I restart the computer. I can't get any work done until I find a solution.
    Windows 7 x64
    Photoshop CS5
    Intuos 3
There is a option on Windows 7 Mouse properties called Allow Themes to
change mouse pointers. That may effect the intous/photoshop.
Actually, this seems to have fixed the problem. No idea why it was suddenly causing a problem though, Photoshop CS5 has been working well for months. It's under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse > Pointers > Allow themes to change mouse pointers (turn off).

  • Mouse cursor size - SOLVED

I need a larger mouse coursor for visibility.
The wiki says to use "Xcursor.theme" and "Xcursor.size" in .Xresources. I cannot get either of these to work.  I can select the cursor appearance with "xterm*pointerShape" but that does not help with the size. Are there any larger cursors available anywhere?
~/.Xresources is sourced by xrdb in ~/.xinitrc
If it makes any difference, I don't use a desktop manager; just spectrwm as window manager.

cursor size, I believe, only applies to cursor files using libxcursor.  See the -xcf option of xsetroot to use it.
I just confirmed this works, though information on what an "x cursor file" is is sparse.  The simplest was to install xcursor-themes from [extra].  This includes many good cursor files in /usr/share/icons/whiteglass/cursors.   Once installed, try the following
    xsetroot -xcf /usr/share/icons/whiteglass/cursors/left_ptr 32
or change the 32 to adjust the size.
Note that some client windows (mostly terminals and text fields) define their own cursors; these will not be changed by this setting.
