Larger Document Appears Black and Displays Incorrectly

Hello,
I have just purchased Web Premium CS4. Photoshop CS4 Extended was included with the package and I installed and ran it. Sadly any large document I tried to open appears black and sometimes when I zoom in partly displays with random black lines through it. I have checked my system's specs and they all match up with the requirements. I am running Vista SP1 on a Dell computer. I have read all the knowledge base articles relating to this matter and have done everything they said (including disabling OpenGL, etc.) but still the problem continues. Is there any way or patch/addon to fix this?

Do they open up in other images manipulation software packages? Try CS3 if you have it.
What size, format (psb, tiff, etc) are they?
I've only experienced what you say with corrupt files...I hope that's not the case here.

iPad mini all of a sudden fades to black and displays the silver Apple logo. It resets itself, but continues to do this after I open it back up.

Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't help - you should try restoring the iOS software. You want to backup the iPad first, restore to factory settings, restore the backup and then sync with iTunes in order to sync your apps, photos, movies, TV Shows, books, etc., back onto the device.

Help! How can i print a color document in black and white?

I have tried some of the other solutions found on Google but i still can not figure out how to print a color document in black and white on my macbook pro...can someone help me?

One of the print dialogue options is for a black-and-white draft, for both Safari and Word.

I use iOS 6.0.1 and I use AirPrint on my iphone4s to print documents wirelessly to my printer. The problem is that if the document that I am printing has ANY color on it at all, the printer will print that part in color. Sometimes I actually want the document in black and white only. But AirPrint doesn't give us the option to do this , like OS X for Mac does.
Color ink is way too expensive to just be using "willy-nilly".
Apple , give us a black and white option on AirPrint !

It might be a problem with your printer's color profile. Did you try to set the color profile in the print dialogue to "black and white" (choose: "more options" in the print panel) ?

I have an older version of imovie. After I change the photos using the Ken Burns effect and save them, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' to change the zoom, the picture appears black and I can't change the zoom?

Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.

Videos Appear Black and Jagged

I need help in playing AVI videos on Quicktime.
Ever since I upgraded to Quicktime Pro, my AVI videos have not been playing.
At first I got a white screen and audio only.
And then I installed various components but it only made it so that the screen became black with choppy colors here and there, like so:

Nothing I do seems to get rid of this jagged coloring and black screen.
I tried downgrading quicktime but that didn't work either.
I tried reinstalling as well.
Please help.

It used to play fine on this mac but now...
I tried perian, and the preview of the video in the file columns appear fine, but the actual video is still black and jagged.
I've tried to import it into imovie and it doesn't improve.
it plays on VLC fine but... I need to make edits in imovie...

CS6 document flashes black and checkerboard

I purchased an update for PSCS6 disc. Whenever I use a slider in editing (such as adjusting hue, contrast, etc.) the background on my screen flashes back and forth between black and grey/checkerboard! It does this as I slide the slider in all adjustments! It is impossible to edit with this flashing! I have set the background to black, but it will not stay there. I have downloaded all the current drivers for my computer. Nothing works! Can anyone please help?

Sounds like a video card driver issue. If you have the latest driver. go to the option and find the setting for the video card and lower the setting. It may be trying to use a feature your card does not support or that driver has an issue with.

Why do some documents appear blurry and unreadable?

i opened the text on my power engineering website (which suggested firefox as the best browser) and the text all appear blurry and i cannot read it.

Are you zoomed in?
Hit Ctrl + 0 (zero) to reset the zoom
Hit Ctrl + + to zoom in
Hit Ctrl + - to zoom out

Large images appear black

Large images may appear as black blocks. I've used 9GAG as an example because it happens quite often on 9GAG (so it was easy to find an example), but it happens on some other websites too. The images are displayed correctly in other browsers.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

Pictures Appear BLACK and then as Negatives

I just finished scanning approx 100 photos, all .jpg. They appear in finder and quick view without a problem. I dragged them into IPhoto. Half appear fine, the other half are black-- no picture, just the outline. When I click on any of them they appear as a negative. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
iPhoto only supports RGB profile images* and this issue usually occurs when a greyscale or CMYK image is imported. The solution is to change the colour profile to RGB. It won’t affect how the photo displays.

I've noticed that iMovie sometimes gets confused with my iPhoto movie clips appearing along the bottom of the screen; a number of the movies all look like one of my shorter 4sec clips, and when I drag and play them it plays the actual file but only for 4secs. Any one else seen this?

PDF Presets and Large Documents (High Page and Link Count)

I created an 824-page book using InDesign CS3 (577 image links - all photoshop or illustrator CS3), all in a single file. When I try to use the PDF presets to create a PDF file(doesn't matter what quality), InDesign crashes. I checked all of the links etc. and everything is okay. If I separate the file into three separate books, I can create a PDF from each. Is there a limit to the number of pages that InDesign can handle? Is it possible that my laptop doesn't have enough resources?
Any help would be appreciated!

It would be nice if there was a log file created during a failure. But that would require more resources and compound the problem.
There is no doubt that the corporate issued Dell is a low-resource machine.
In the end, this book will be modular so chapters can be added or subtracted as required by the audience. I'll just create three separate mini-books or I'll transfer everything to my machine before processing.

Large blotch appears on display

I have an iBook G4 which Apple replaced for my G3. The G3 was part of the extended logic board program; they tried to repair it three times but were unsuccessful. I've had the G4 for less than 12 months. I've never had a problem with it until today. When I turned it on there was a very large blotch of black and white in a free-form design covering 3/4 of the screen. I tried to restart, then shut-down and restart but nothing got rid of the blotch. I can see the outline of the blotch when the machine is off. Is this another logic board problem? I wrote to Apple and am waiting for their reply.

Hmmm... Interesting concept. According to the
Customer Relations person who sent it to me
originally, it was new. According to the Customer
Service guy my husband talked to today, the only way
to get a refurbished laptop is to actually purchase
one (and he said he couldn't look it up by the S/N
because once it was registered to us, all he sees is
our info.)
Then this is an even better reason to buy from Apple. In the electronics industry, it is standard practice to use refurbished components when repairing/replacing defective one. That is what is written on the fine print of every RMA I have ever seen. That doesn't mean they can't or won't give you new parts for a repair or replacement. It just means if they do, they are going above and beyond anyone else. And, for what it's worth, I would take a refurbished Apple over a new PC any day. I am a proud owner of an Apple-refurbished iPod - works like a charm.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. I just think that if you had one of the lemon G3 that had to be repaired 6 times and finally replaced, and the replacement screen cracked, they should give you a new machine. You've suffered enough.
We would have purchased what instead?? A PC? And

How do I set my printer to black and white ONLY?

I have an HP Photosmart All-In-One C4480. I don't want to have to buy color cartridges, because I only need black and white, and I have three black and white cartridges already. How do I set the printer to print my documents in black and white only?

Hi,
Follow the steps below to print using Black Ink only:
1. From the application used to print, click the File menu and select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized: Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
2. To access the color options, click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
3. Select Paper Type/Quality from the drop-down menu.
4. Click the triangle next to Color Options to expend the settings.
5. Set the Color field as Grayscale.
6. Set the Grayscale Mode as Black Ink Cartridge Only.
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...
Any used preset will remain default so simply select teh standard preset to print in color.
