Larger icons on firefox homepage

All toolbars at top of firefox homepage are really small type including bookmark icons........How do I change these to larger font?

There are three choices I can think of
# Use the large icons
# Fiddle with preferences to change settings
#use a software extension to make changes for you
Large Icons. <br />
If you have the small icons choose the big ones instead.
* right click on an empty part of a toolbar, use the customise option and choose large icons
* see [[Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars]]
Use software extensions <br />
* see [[Use themes to change the look of Firefox]]
* look for them here [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/appearance/]
* also note that ''no squint'' affects the web content and is popular <br />https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/
* if you or someone else needs more help in improving Firefox's accessibility see<br/>http://www.accessfirefox.org/ <br/> very large icons and screenreaders etc.
Preferences<br/>
This is not entirely straightforward. You change advanced settings by going into ''about:config''
# type ''about:config''into the address bar and hit the return key
#* see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
# accept any warning
#You are looking for the preference ''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx'' start keying that into the search bar then select it when you find it
#use the Modify option and experiment with SMALL changes to the value. It will be set as -1.0 or 1.0, try 1.2 , 1.4 , 1.6, 1.8 & 2.0
P.S adjusting the preference may produce minor problems with which tooltip hints displayed for instance in the bookmarks sidebar (Bug 644952)

  • Firefox homepage changed. Lost Icons for Gmail, YouTube, etc that use to appear on the home page. How do I get them to appear back on the Firefox homepage?

A week ago, my Firefox homepage changed and I've lost the ability to have Gmail, YouTube, etc appear at the left top of the homepage. I tried to reset by going to settings and set the default but still can not figure out how to get Gmail, YouTube, etc to appear on the homepage.
    Thank you,
    Julia

Is your home page now https://www.google.com/ ?
If you are missing the traditional "black bar" at the top of the page, that has been replaced with an application button on the right side that looks like a grid of small squares. Some creative developers have posted add-ons to restore the old bar. I haven't tried these myself:

  • How may I change the height of the menu bar to allow my large icons/buttons to maintain their size?

I recently updated from FF28 to FF31. Totally different UI, I get that. I waited to update until I could psych myself to try something different. I have the Default Australis Theme and Noia Fox Theme, which is designed with larger icons/buttons for those with visual needs. On my screen at the moment I have the title bar, menu bar, tab bar, and url/addon bar with the "hamburger" menu to the right. I placed icons in the menu bar, kept the home icon on the addon bar, and then there are the default icons in the menu popup. When I enable the Noia Fox Theme, the icons look great on the url/addon bar, even in the menu popup; clear, large, easy to see. However, the icons in the menu bar (not the menu popup) are less than half their original/intended size. So I switch to default Australis Theme, restart, and same issue, though not quite as dramatic since Default theme is smaller to begin with.
My thinking then is that there is a setting within the menu bar which resizes the icons/buttons to a small default size. Can this setting be changed to allow the icons to retain their original size (or close to it) and if so, how? I like the location of the menu bar on my screen, below the title bar, above the tab bar. Works nicely with the new The Fox Only Better addon which attaches to the tab bar and hides the url bar, a "new" feature for me and I'm liking it. I know I can get CTR with an additional bar, and I did try that. The issue then is that the additional bar appears below the tab bar and is not movable to above the tab bar and below the title bar.
At the moment, I have just the two themes, security addons added and The Fox Only Better. I've not added other appearance addons yet so as to keep potential conflicts/issues to a minimum. I've not tinkered with internal FF default settings other than to say don't track me (I think that's all I did). So to the best of my limited understanding, I've kept changes and customizations to a minimum. And yes, per your educated guess feature for questions posted, I am running Win 8.1 and FF 31.
I think I've offered enough detail so others can try to duplicate the issue. If not, let me know and I'll try to respond as soon as I can. Thanks so much for any help offered.

You can double the height of the menu bar area using a custom style rule. I couldn't immediately find an icon that would take advantage of the space so I'm not sure this will solve the problem, but you could try it.
The custom style rule could be as simple as:
    @namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);
/* double height (from 2x to 4x the 13px base font size) */
    #toolbar-menubar{
    height:4em !important;
(Result shown in the screen shot, using the preview feature of the Stylish extension.)
You can apply custom style rules to Firefox's UI using either of these methods:
    (1) Create or edit a userChrome.css file. This article has more information: http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css
    (2) Use the Stylish extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stylish/
Since I don't have this theme to test myself, if this doesn't work well, you might contact the theme author using the theme's support thread, which is on an independent forum: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=2230157

  • Can not see all the clips in large Icon view in my bin

I arranged my clips in a bin in large Icon view but i can not see all the clips in the bin while in that mode. I see the clips when in list mode or when i drag them out of the bin into the main bin. As soon I drag them back in large icon view bin they do not show up, when going back in list view they are there.
    Any idea
Also my daughter accidently pulled the electrical plug, which turned my external hard drive off. So the media was off line. I hit reconnect the clip but the clip does not show as connected in the bin it keeps the Media offline icon but putting the clip in the viewer or time line it plays it. So the clip is reconnected
hope anybody can help with those two issues thanks

    Nick
thanks for your message it helped to show the clips. Here how I solved it. I put the clips i could not see in large Icon view, to the Project folder. Even in the project folder I was only seeing the clips with Thumbnail in list view. When i hit large Icon view the clips disappeared, and they could not have been lower down as i only have about 5 folders in the project. I then clicked arrange the clip by name and they showed up again. Like that i dragged the clip back in to its bin and it showed up. The reason for going back and forth I arranged the clips manually in the bin before and when hitting arrange by name it spread them to far apart and put the clips not in a sequence I liked.
for the second part I followed Neil's suggestion it worked.

    Tania

Atualize o sistema operacional que o problema será resolvido, o problema na verdade é com o Windows XP e infelizmente ele não é mais suportado.

  • Is there a way to put the bluetooth icon on the homepage?

I pair my iphone with my car when I'm driving. Is there a way to put the bluetooth icon on the homepage so I don't have to go through settings to turn the bluetooth on and off?
I don't like to leave the bluetooth on all the time because it drains the battery, but it's kinda a pain to have to go through settings everytime I want to use this feature.
On my last cell phone I could assign a "hot key" to automatically turn the bluetooth on and off. I really liked that. This bluetooth system seems a little dated to me.

    No not yet, hopfully soon.

  • When i first open firefox homepage (opens with google) after 3 seconds page freezes and cannoct be closed. i have to open seconed homepage to shot pc down. this has only happened since i installed firfox 4. what do i do to fix this

when i first open firefox homepage (opens with google as set by firefox) after about 3 seconds the page freezes and cannot be closed or minimised. i have to open second homepage to shut pc down or continue to use pc. this has only happened since i installed firefox 4. what do i do to fix this

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Why can't you change the .html/.htm filetype icons for Firefox?

**Before you read this question: NOTICE I am talking about Firefox Icons on Windows, NOT ON FIREFOX BOOKMARKS/PROGRAM!!!!! Read the question then please, please visit the link so you have a better understanding of what I'm asking with this question!!!!**
I've been trying to change the FileType Icons for the Firefox Documents for weeks now and there's no solution that I can see. I tried using Filetypes Manager to change the .html/.htm filetypes icons with no luck. Why does Firefox force this change on users when most users that use Firefox do so because of it's ability to be customizable? Even Microsoft Word .doc file icons allow you to change them! Microsoft!!! Why is Firefox forcing everyone to use their ugly filetype icons? &____& I've yet to see this issue not only addressed but solved. Why does Firefox ignore this issue? I'd like my computer's icons to all be top-notch, and Firefox is preventing me from making my weeks of hard work go to naught. Please, please address this issue... if anything, tell your users why your program is forcing the icons on them in the first place when monopolies like Microsoft allow their users to customize program filetype icons.
If this cannot have a fix, why can't it be a new feature/addition to the newest versions of Firefox?
Edit: And because people are starting to get 'confused' I've included a screen shot of what I'm talking about because, for the love of god, people, I'm *not* talking about using favicons and bookmarks!
    http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c231/arcanetheorem/example.png

The only thing I changed about the question was to add an image and to try and make it more understandable since everyone assumed I was talking about Favicons/Bookmark Icons....
As for it being a Windows 7 issue and not a Firefox one... if it were just a Windows 7 issue I wouldn't be able to change other application icons or filetype icons on the Windows platform using FileTypes Manager. Firefox, from what I've been able to gather, is not one that can be changed. If I change the filetype icons for Word Documents any other extension (like .mp3/.mp4/.avi/.mkv), I get the changed icon I wanted. However, when you try to change the Firefox .html/.htm filetype extension icons, it doesn't work. Have you tried going through changing your icon filetypes using FileTypes Manager to see this issue? If it were a Windows or FileType Manager issue, then I'd have trouble changing other icons on that platform, no? So what I'm asking with my question is why this is. Why, if you use FileTypes Manager to change Windows7 icons, is Firefox's icons the only ones that won't be changed? Doesn't this fall under Firefox's problem if their icons are under the 'can't be changed' category under Windows? And using shortcut icons is no good for me. When I browse a folder of .html files, I want to see the icons I changed it to, not make a shortcut to every .html file I have just to have a better-looking Visual Style. Defeats the purpose, doesn't it? As for clicking on Properties to change it... Windows 7 doesn't allow this feature anymore, which is why I've been using FileType Manager to change all filetype extension icons.
Hope that helps clear things up a bit, though I have a feeling I'm just confusing everyone more with what is a simple question/problem....

  • How do I restore a previous session when the Firefox homepage does NOT have the "restore" button and it is grayed out in the menu? menu

My Firefox homepage had a "Restore Previous Session" button but it has disappeared. SO when my Firefox crashes I lose all my tabs and tab groups, and this is very inconvenient. I have checked through all the "Options" seeing if there is some button there to enable this feature, but to no avail. I am frustrated as after a crash I spend hours revisiting all my links in my History menu to reset my tabs. Can you help?

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Browsing History
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies that have an allow exception and cookies from plugins.

  • When I try to go to a link from my e mail it does not go there but goes to my firefox homepage instead

Trying to press links and instead of going straight to it as before, it is now going to my firefox homepage and not to the link I wanted

You can also try Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Then restart the iPad and try Safari again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Firefox does not open when clicking on the icon, the firefox.exe process consumes 99 % of the CPU and my computer runs slowly.

I have been a happy user of Firefox for many years. Around last April first I opened Firefox and was offered an update to v 4.42.0.0 which I accepted. Installation seemingly went well. I forget now exactly what happened but the result has been that ever since April 1 I haven’t been able to open the Firefox browser when clicking on the Firefox icon. My computer now was running very slowly. I tried to uninstall Firefox, but a popup told me I couldn’t because Firefox was in use. This confused me because I couldn’t see it being used. Only now I have found that on Task Manager processes that “firefox.exe” was consuming 99 % of the CPU. After removing firefox.exe by clicking End Process my computer ran better. I uninstalled Firefox I had on my computer and installed Firefox 5.0. Unfortunately I have the same problems: Firefox does not open when clicking on the icon, the firefox.exe process consumes 99 % of the CPU and my computer runs slowly.

Born2die! Brilliant. I am a desktop clicker and never knew Firefox had a safe mode.
    Thank You!
I was unable to start in safe mode initially. The second time I disabled all of the Add-Ons and she started up just fine. I enabled them one by one hoping to track down the culprit but the problem seems to have gone away.
BTW I am running ver. 3.6.8 (in response to cor-el's earlier post) and
Firefox is in the process of downloading 3.6.10 (which I am starting to think may have been what caused this whole problem to begin with)
Incidentally, whats up with all of the Java Console Add Ons?
    I have:
Java Console 6.0.11, Java Console 6.0.13, Java Console 6.0.15
Java Console 6.0.17, Java Console 6.0.20, and Java Console 6.0.21
What are they? Do I need them? Can I uninstall them? Is this due to using Open Office?
Also, .NET Framework 0.0.0 Should I uninstall it?

  • Firefox 31 changes all PDF icons to Firefox HTML icons that I can not seem to change back, can this be rectified? Using Windows XP.....

Once Firefox 31 is installed it sees all PDF files as Firefox HTML files and changes all of the PDF icons to Firefox HTML icons. This change can not seem to be reversed without uninstalling Firefox.
Only the icon is changed, not the .PDF extension.

Thank you for your reply but it's not that simple:
Windows now thinks that the default file type for .pdf is Firfox HTML Document.
I can change which program opens .pdf files but I can't change the icon.
    Not a Firefox problem? Really?
    EDIT:
Let me explain further so that you can understand. In folder options / file types I can scroll thru and choose any file type / advanced and change the icon...every one of them except (now) .pdf. There is no advanced tab. Only the message about "restore" I mentioned before.
Firefox changed the file association for .pdf files and now I can't fix it.
    And from another thread:
"Firefox 31 is not converting or renaming your files. All it is doing is registering with the Windows OS as an application that is able to open the files and Windows then changes the file's icons accordingly.
This should only occur if no other application has already registered your .pdf files."
Well I guess that's not true is it?
