Largest file size able to be used in compressor??

I brought 2 quicktime .mov files into final cut pro with the following specs:
29.97 Vidrate
720 x 486 frame
NTSC
Uncompressed 8bit 4:2:2:2
interlaced
I applied the following plugin filter:
Magic Bullet Frames 1.0 (formally Magic Bullet 24p)
settings of the filter:
mode: deinterlaced only
input field order: lower
field interpolation: motion
field smooth: 14
cropping: supper 16 (1:66:1)
shift: 0
mix: 95
This filter gives interlaced video the 24p look of film.
Also a color correction filter was applied.
When I export this file from FCP as a quicktime the file size is roughly 135GB with the time line being 1hr 54mins.
I then take the quicktime into Compressor to create MPEG2, after inporting it into compressor, compressor then quits unexpectedly no matter if I restart the program or entire computer.
Does anyone know the maximum file size that compressor can handle of a quicktime file? Or any suggestions on what should be done differently??
Please help! Thanks!

try exporting a few shorter test sections of the file from FCP ... see if Compressor still chokes when trying to convert them

  • Why do file sizes change when I use "Process Multiple Images" to add watermarks?

    Hi,
I'm using Elements 11. In order to add watermarks to many JPG pics at once, I use the function "Process Multiple Files".
I select a source folder and a destination folder, and adds a three digit serial number to each file. I do NOT tick the checkbox marked "Change picture size". After that I define the watermark I want printed on my pics and hits OK. All the files in the source folder are processed and saved, with a new name in the destination folder. Fair and square.
But. The file size of the new file is heavily reduced, compared to the original. It goes from 10 MB down to 500 KB (in general). Why is that? Is there any way I can prevent it?
    Regards,
    /Mikael Lindgren

Or you can uncheck the convert files box to save them in their original format, or select one of the lossless formats PSD, BMP, TIF. What is most appropriate depends on what you intend to do with the watermarked versions.

  • Any way to change file size display to NOT use GB or MB notation?

I'd like to see exact byte counts for file sizes from time to time in the windows listing files (without having to Get Info). I've searched for options to change how file sizes are displayed by finder but have come up completely empty. Any chance this choice has not been completely co-opted from me by Apple's omnipotent designers?

    Welcome to Discussions.
I believe there are 3rd-party applications that do it, such as [WhatSize|http://www.id-design.com/software/whatsize] and perhaps also [Path Finder|http://www.cocoatech.com].

  • Flash File not Able to Display using ADF Trinidad components..

    Hi All,
I am trying to display a flash file using ADF trinidad component for one our project but not able to display when embeded inside the code.
However I am able to directly access the flash file using http://localhost:7101/test/pages/test.swf
The below Object code is included inside the tr:panelHorizontalLayout tag. I also tried using tr:media but doesnt display anything on the browser.

    Hi Ramandeep,
I tried that option early but did not work. Not able to understand why.
    Below is the code snippet.
    <tr:panelGroupLayout layout="vertical">

And as I mentioned it works fine when I directly access the flash file by using http://localhost:7101/test/pages/test.swf.

  • Picture jpg file size is small when using Preview?????

When I connect my camera and iphoto opens, I use it to save the photos. All fine. They go into a folder within the '2007' folder.
Then when I click to open the file using Finder, the picture is 1/4 the size of the original I was just looking at with iPhoto. ???? I can not figure out what's going on. Why is the picture with Preview so small?
    Thanks a lot!!!!

Allan has posted some good resources. I would add that if you have additional questions in the future it's best to post them on the iPhoto Disscussions forum rather than the OS X Tiger forum. Here's a link to the iPhoto Discussions forum:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=143
There are a number of iPhoto experts there to field questions associated with that application.
By the way, you can learn a lot by just playing around with iPhoto. iPhoto keeps a copy of your original no matter how many times you change a photo. So, generally speaking, you don't have to worry about doing something you can't recover from. It's only when you access or change photos in the iPhoto Library folder from outside the application that you run the risk of screwing something up.
    Have fun.

  • Using "done signing" increases file size 3 to 5 times !

The new feature in Acrobat Reader 10.1.2 onwards is great - I can add a signature and a date.
BUT if I use "done signing" the file size increases 3 to 5 times the original file size !  So I used File Save - and that worked well.
Then I updated to 10.1.6 - and now the signature that I added is not "fixed" - it can be deleted or moved !
We don't want to use digital signatures !!
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks

When you click the "Done Signing" button, the signature appearance and any text you added is flattened and becomes regular page contents and it won't be able to be moved or deleted as you describe. I also don't see a file size increase as you describe. Are you using an image for the signature and if so, how large is it (in bytes)?

  • Get the file size of a file on the server.

okay.. for my download manager i need to get the file size. I tried using the available method of inputstream, and the getContentLength() of URLConnection, which worked but only for webpages. so does anyone know how to do this? Sun does it in SDM, but i dont think the source is included. ill download it again and check.
    thanks.

content-length is not guaranteed to be anythingi dont think so. correct me if i am wrong..
    http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec4.html#s
    c4.4 states -
    " When a Content-Length is given in a message where a
message-body is allowed, its field value MUST exactly
match the number of OCTETs in the message-body.
HTTP/1.1 user agents MUST notify the user when an
invalid length is received and detected."
this sort of guarantees that if a file is being
downloaded the content-length gives the size of the
file. i am able to confirm this by sniffing the
traffic of my download manager. This is only guaranteed if the content length field is present. :-)
    However, looking two paragraphs up:
'All HTTP/1.1 applications that receive entities MUST accept the "chunked" transfer-coding (section 3.6), thus allowing this mechanism to be used for messages when the message length cannot be determined in advance.'
There is mechanism built in for cases where the size cannot be determined.

  • What is the largest "manageable" size for a captivate project? (I think I've passed it)

    Problem:
It used to take perhaps 5 minutes for the Captivate software to open and the project to actually load. Now, Captivate loads (menu screen) but the project does not open - it just sits there. When I close the software it asks if I want to save changes to my project, as if it had opened.
    Background:
The captivate project that is roughly 260MB. This is after having copied and pasted all the slides to a new project to reduce the file size (several times) -- because of unexplainable ballooning of the file size. I am using a computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.35 GHZ processor with 4GB or RAM.
    Questions:
What is the largest manageable file size for a project?
Is there a limit to the number of slides a project can contain (i.e., 200)?
What can I do to get my project to actually open?
    Thanks!
    Dan

    Hi there
Normally we advise that a Captivate project should fall into somewhere between 50-65 slides as a general upper limit. Occasionally reaching as high as 100 to *MAYBE* 120 slides. Depending on a number of factors.

  • Why have file sizes in Pages increased since upgrading to latest version?

Hi, I use Pages to compose a monthly newsletter for my yacht club. For that purpose I preferred it to Word because it was so easy to add, resize and position photographs. Before circulating the newsletter to club members, I convert the file to PDF format using the print as PDF option. Last year I was able to put 25 or so photos along with text over 5 pages and finish with a file size of less than 5 MB, which is about as big as I can send without dozens being bounced by members' email filters. Since upgrading my Mac to "Mountain Lion" (and then to "Mavericks") and upgrading Pages, I can't include more than 7 or 8 photos on 2 pages without going over my 5 MB limit. The finished file size seems to be two or three times the combined file sizes of the photos that I include.
Any suggestions for reducing file size? I already use as low a photo resolution as I can.

Peter - thank you so much for this very helpful reply. I had assumed that having "upgraded" I would be condemned to putting up with the Pages 5. I would never have thought of looking in the iWork folder for an older version. Needless to say I can't use Pages 09 to open documents written in pages 5 - but that's no loss. I note that January's newsletter was a hefty 15.5 MB in size, whereas December's, which contains more pages and many more photos was only 2.5 MB.
    Thanks again.
Fruhulda - I look forward to reading more of the discussion of the last few months. Being new to the forum it may take me some time to find it.

  • CFX_Image seems to resize ok but the file size is too big??

    my host uses CFX_IMAGE v1.6.6.11 (
    http://80.79.138.227/cfximage/index.cfm
which does a perfectly good job of resizing images except for
the fact that the resultant file size is too large. i found that
compared to resizing images locally, resizing using this tag
resulted in file sizes of double the size.
i have tried tweaking the "quality" paramater but without
success, i could get the file size down but then the quality was
    poor.
so i am forced to resize images locally using macromedia
fireworks or MS paint before uploading them.
ideally i need to be able to resize images server side but
    without inordinate file sizes.
does anyone else use a cfx_image tag that's more efficient?
or does anyone else know how to get this tag to perform better?
any help would be very gratefully received.
    thank you

  • I Photo Book Design and File Sizes??

I Photo ? for any photo buffs out there-- I  cant find what the largest file size i can import for an iphoto book-
Also--i am making my own photo page using another program and then I guess i will then import them to iPhoto so i can import them to a book-
also-- when it says ful page bleed--  it appears that iphoto still puts a grey border around--thus making your photo page smaller-- any work arounds this??
I want all my pages to have photo end to end-- complete bleed to the page edges -Thanks for any --All Help!! T Hopkins
I have Lion operating system-- do not see it as a choice to select here either?

From what I've observed in my books full bleed was just that. Have you checked out a sample book at your nearest Apple store?
The page dimensions are 8.5 x 11 for the standard, hard cover book. Photos should have the sRGB color profile (NOT the Adobe RGB profile). Since iPhoto creates a pdf of the book at 300 dpi for uploading and printing photos don't need to have a dpi resolution any higher than that.
An easy way to get the page from a 3rd party app into iPhoto would be to do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto. This will create a jpg file of the page and import it into iPhoto.  If you don't have the Save PDF to iPhoto option in the PDF menu you can download the file, a 300 dpi version, Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow from  Toad's Cellar and place it in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder.

  • Get the largest file in directory

    Hi All,
how do i get the largest  file in directory.?
    using labview 7.1

    eyal.

I don't have 7.1, but here's one way in LabVIEW 8.2 (looking for largest VI in this case). Not sure if "List Folder" and "Get File Size" are in 7.1:
This is a sample only, has no error handling, and looks in the given folder only (doesn't recurse sub-folders).

  • Edit File Size?

Is it possible to edit or modify the (file) size of a photo using iPhoto? Thanks.
    Background Notes:
I've uploaded a couple of photos to my .Mac site, but when I view them on my website, the photo takes up the whole page rather than just a small part of it.
I hand-code the pages I upload to my .Mac site using.
I know I can do this using Adobe Photoshop but that's an added expense I really can't afford right now.

  • Question about reducing PDF file size on export

I have a large file that is generates a PDF about 75MB when exported with the "[High Quality Print]" preset. However, I can reduce the size down to to under 5MG in Acrobat if I use the Tools>Flattener Preview>[Medium Resolution] setting (image attached). Is there a way to generate this smaller file directly from InDesign? I couldn't figure out how to do this with InDesign's Flattener Preview or Export options, but it is very likely that I missed something.

    Eugene Tyson wrote:
When you choose Smallest File size, it is still using the PDF 1.6 setting.
Change this to Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3) this will automagically flatten the PDF - which means you shouldn't have to do it in Acrobat.
That should get you a nice small file size, I believe.
Flattening transparency in InDesign will not necessarily yield a smaller PDF file size. Transparency flattening will not automatically convert placed vector artwork to raster images unless that vector artwork is actually involved with transparency. And even then, whether you end up with a smaller file depends on a number of factors.
If the reason for the very large file size is indeed very complex vector artwork and you are willing to sacrifice quality, conversion of such vector artwork to raster might yield a significantly smaller exported PDF file. To accomplish that conversion, I would personally suggest converting the most offensive (in terms of file size and complexity) of such files in Illustrator (assuming that they were .AI files) and exporting them as .TIF files (to avoid the potential imaging artifacts of JPEG compression).

  • Reducing PDF File Size - Adobe SDK C#

    Hello and Good Morning,
What i am wondering, is if there is a way to use the function from the Adobe Acrobat Pro Software "Document >> Reduce File Size" programatically in C# using the Adobe SDK 8.2 ? I already have it so i can retrieve adobe documents/pages i just need to apply this method from the software. If this is possible or you know how to reduce file size it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

    Regarding to this question http://forums.adobe.com/message/4261273#4261273
Is there a way to make Batch Processing to save/commit after each file is processed?
Currently it processes all files in a specific folder and then saves them to the output folder, the save part occurs after all files have been let's say OCR for example, but not after each file is done OCR. This process cannot be automated as with this functionality as when a an error ocurrs in one of those files, it displays an popup message that actually prevents the other successfully processed files to be saved.
