Laser pointer in keynote sporadically works,  presentation/projector?

I've used the ipad for a number of presentations in different contexts (i.e. projectors environments), and I really like it (but neeed the ability to show movies!). My first presentation, I got cheers when I held the ipad up to the students.
However, the laser pointer has really spotty performance, sometimes works, sometimes doesnt. Most annoying, is the apparent randomness of it. Some slides will show the laser pointer when you tap on the screen, others dont. Doesn't seem reproducible either.
The laser pointer is a really good idea, but needs to be improved so its robust.

I believe the answer to your question is no.
I use Keynote's Integrated Remote function on my iPhone 4S to control my Keynote presentation on my iPad Air. It works well over wi-fi and bluetooth (a touch of delay on bluetooth). However, I am not able to get the virtual laser pointer to work by touching the screen on the iPhone.
I have not yet tried using the iPhone as a remote while the iPad is hooked up to a projector.

Does keynote remote with a laser pointer option sound like a good idea? Is this already possible?

There is no laser style pointer built into Keynote, there are 3rd party applications that do this, Mouspose' is in the Apple Mac Store.

  • Keynote 2.1 - is laser pointer available for presentations on your mac

I love that you can now control your keynote presentations from my mac that are being displayed on an external monitor with the ipad (keynote 2.1).
However, I don't see how to use the laser pointer in this format. If I run a presentation from my iPad, I just touch and hold to bring up a laser pointer. But, when I am remotely controlling the presentation from my iPad, I don't see a way to do that. Is this possible? Am I just missing something?
If this is not possible, please add to the next update!

  • I would like to know if there is a wireless presenter with laser point and vibrating alerts that is compatible with MAC?

I would like to know if there is a wireless presenter with laser point and vibrating alerts that is compatible with MAC?

Any device that Palm manufaturers currently should be able to get the data from the older device.
Although Palm doesn't make handhelds anymore you can get a smartphone and transfer the data over to it without issue.
If you go to the new WebOS you can transfer the data over it just might take a little work.

  • Kensington Si600 Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer

I have bought a Kensington Si600 Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer and and I have a problem. When I press the laser pointer button with a powerpoint 2003 or 2008 on my macbook, it goes to the All Windows screen as well as turning the laser on. What can I do to avoid this?

Hi Mark, Not sure you got my first reply to this thead. I had the same problem, which occurs because the Kensington presenter is hardwired to send an 'F5' to the system when the laser pointer is activated. By default 'F5' is set as 'All windows' in Mac OS X, but this can be changed in 'System Preferences -> Expose'. If you disable or change this setting it has no influence on the action button on you keyboard (you know the one with the rectangles).

Hi guys, I have the same problem. The solution seems to be to redefine the 'All windows' short cut in System Preferences -> Expose. It seems Kensington SI600 is sending an F5 to the system. This is apparently hardwired and can't be changed.

  • HT3325 Can the remote be used with the laser/pointer?

The latest update of keynote support wireless remote control with mirror display on hand, which is great. But, this would be perfect if it would allow to remotely (wirelessly) use the laser/pointer available in keynote presentation mode. Is that possible?

Thanks. I understand, but my question referred to use 2 iPads to make the presentation, one connected to the projector and the other in  hand.

  • Satechi Smart Pointer with Keynote 2.0

Allegedly, the Satechi Smart Pointer (http://www.amazon.com/Satechi-Bluetooth-Pointer-Presenter-Control/dp/B00A3WRM5G/ ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1385994304&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=satechi+smart +pointer) is supposed to work under iOS7 with Keynote 2.0 to control presentations, using the Accessibility/voiceover mode. I have not been able to get this to work, and am getting confusing feedback from the comments on the Amazon site, where there are people who claim that it does, and others that claim that it cannot. I have not been able to get a clear answer from Satechi, and in the meantime I cannot get it to function properly.
Has anyone succeeded in getting this (or any other!) bluetooth remote to work with the most recent Keynote, under iOS 7.0.4, on the iPad? If so, how?
    Thanks!

I have the same pointer and it used to work but it stopped working with Keynote 2.0.
    Take a look at http://www.satechi.net/index.php/bluetooth/bluetooth-remote/satechi-bluetooth-sm art-pointer
and scroll to the bottom of the page.  Looks like the ball is in Apple's court ...

  • Keynote for Windows Presentation

I have just upgraded to Keynote 3.0.1. I would like to create a slideshow in Keynote for a presentation. The church that will show the presentation uses Windows. I tried last year using Keynote 2, and tried upteen different exports to Powerpoint, but had a variety of issues which are too numerous to mention. So....does anyone know if Keynote 3 has a new solution? Right now I use iPhoto slideshow (which has improved to be honest), but I then have to create a QT movie which obviously loses some of the quality of the images.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

the two biggies for me are soft drop shadows, and images that have transparency placed INSIDE (or as a fill) to a ppt auto shape.
I ran into this second one when I exported a theme I'm working on into PPT 2004. All my photo cutouts are actual Keynote shapes, and I created shadow images that actually sit inside a shape, so you get a nice hard edge on the cutout...but when I opened the PPT file, these shapes (which came over as PPT shapes) which should have shown a shadow with transparency around it ended up with solid white backgrounds.
Then I tried to just use a standard PPT shape and add an image into it, and got the same effect. Transparency INSIDE a ppt shape just isn't supported.
You might also want to look at the transitions and effects to see if they've caught up to Keynote at all.

  • Can i capture laser pointer events in Flash?

    Hi.
I have some people who are doing a medical presentation. Of course they are using PowerPoint and a couple of flash movies. When they launch their Flash movies from within the powerpoint they want to slide the flash presentation using the Laser Pointer.
I made the flash files to slide at click on the stage. But that laser pointer doesn't have a click, It has two buttons wich launch somekind of event though USB of forward and backward which the powerpoint recognizes.
So can flash recognise those, do any of you have any experience with this things? Can i listen globaly to all event that are triggered in flash to see if any of those come up?
    Tnx.

FMLE will not directly mux audio connections from different sources. You could try possibly using a "Virtual Audio Cable", which is a outside program. Search Google for it.
If you want to have more control over what you broadcast, I suggest using a 3rd party program such as Telestream Wirecast, or Xsplit..
Xsplit is a realtively cheap alternative to Wirecast which is pricey.
    Check them Out..

  • Pages numbers and keynotes not working on handoff, but everything else is?

Pages numbers and keynotes not working on handoff, but everything else is, map, mail etc. Am I alone?

Really appreciate your help with this. I am a bit of a novice here.. but.. After some more searching on this issue I notice your comments (cut/pasted  below)  with respect to this router and bridging mode. You mentioned that I should update my firmware on this router and that this would (if I am interpreting your reply correctly) facilitate my LAN to LAN connection and of course using this router simply as an access point and more to the point -  having the use of the guest network. So my question is even if I did update firmware,  seems I would still require 3rd party software to make this work? (re your last sentence in your comments below)  Just need to understand the process and determine whether or not it is worth it (or maybe I should upgrade the router) but I don't want to change the configs of the network wired router at this time... and need to use the E2500 or facsimile as  simply an access point with  guest network functionality,  Thanks much appreciated.
"Again: some E series routers already support wired bridging in firmware, i.e. to use the router as simple access point.
This is and was always possible using a LAN-LAN setup instead.
The problem with the LAN-LAN setup is, however, that you have some limitations accessing the network storage or network printer, e.g. the router doesn't have the correct time and you cannot access the storage from remote using port forwarding through your main router.
These limitations have been overcome with the wired bridge mode (internet connection type = bridge mode).
But again: this has absolutely nothing to do with wireless bridging. That's something completely different and is not supported on Linksys routers in any firmware version so far. To do wireless bridging (i.e. the Linksys routers connects wirelessly to another main router) you need 3rd party firmware."

  • Right stylus (mainly for note/annotation): Targus 3-in-1 (stylus/laser pointer/pen) or Wacom bamboo solo?

After reading several good reviews about Wacom bamboo stylus solo ($30), I deceided to buy one for my iPad 2. But today, I found Targus 3-in-1 (stylus/laser pointer/pen) for just $20 (original price around $40). Now I am bit confused.
Can the users of these styli please suggest if Targus 3-in-1 will be better buy than Wacom bamboo stylus ($30) in terms of quality and value for money (as it is on sale now)? I know that only laser pointer costs around $20. Do you still suggest that for $20 Targus 3-in-1 (Stylus/laser pointer/pen) will be unworthy (compared to Bamboo) on quality & durability aspect!

Version 15 added driver side support for d6 and d7 models, that means CTH-460/K and CTH-461/S aka Wacom BambooPT 2FG 4x5 and Small. They should be fully working out of box now.

i bought one wacom cth-460 today       "056a:00d6 Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch (CTH-460)"
i have tried all drivers in aur + standard archpackages
    no one works
the drawingboard works just fine  in windows

  • How do i get keynote to work on powerpoint ?

how do i get keynote to work on powerpoint i exported it to ppt andthat didnt work now what

Are you using Keynote on a Mac or iPad?
Keynote on the Mac allows you to export your presentation as a Powerpoint document.
Once exported to Powerpoint format, you can open the document in Powerpoint on Mac or PC.
Look over your slides as the formatting sometimes gets messed up.
