Using a single ext drive for both Snow Leopard and Mtn Lion?

I still have no iOS device (gasp), and I frankly don't like the differences I keep reading about the iOSsy Mtn Lion, as contrasted with Snow Leopard (on my 08 MBP). But yeah, I know I have to make the jump eventually. Meanwhile I'm thinking of getting a new 2TB external drive, creating a 1TB partition for each system. (The present Snow Leopard drive is about 740GB). That way I can get to know Mtn Lion while I still have the long-term tried and true personalized folder hierarchy in Snow Leopard—until I'm ready to give up SL completely.
(I know I could just put Mtn Lion on the external; I prefer two partitions simply for the convenience of adding another external backup for the SL system.)
Does this make sense? Does it seem practical? I welcome any suggestions or concerns. Thanks.

Yes, you can partition any drive into two volumes and install Snow Leopard on one and Mountain Lion on the other. If you don't yet have Mountain Lion then you need to install Snow Leopard on both partitions to start. The volume on which you will put Mountain Lion needs to be updated to 10.6.8. Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
You can then run the App Store application to purchase and download Mountain Lion to install on this volume.
To save time you do not have to install Snow Leopard on the volume being used for Mountain Lion. But you will need to install it on the other volume so you can get the Mountain Lion installer unless you already have it.
Purchase and download Mountain Lion. When the Mountain Lion installer opens click on the Install button. Select the Other disks link in order to select your blank volume, then click on the Install button to put Mountain Lion on the blank volume.

Well, I think actually you can try this *PDF converter*.
It could convert PDF to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Epub and 2 other format.
Extremely easy to use and really friend interface.
Only 1 thing I want to complain is it just support 50 files in a batch.

Exchange alternative for Mac Snow Leopard Server

I was wondering what are some good alternatives to Microsoft's Exchange service for use in the new Snow Leopard Server that will be coming out. I am aware that Snow Leopard Server offers open source for mail server, but I would like to go with an actual GUI interface with a third party software. Any suggestions would be great!

You will not be able to do any extensive management of Active Directory from with Mac OS X natively,
and considering the technology, it's best managed using the native Microsoft tools & technologies anyway. There are products that offer options for Mac management from/via AD - beyond what Apple provides and/or is possible by extending your schema, but that's _another matter entirely_.
"Closest thing" is really for you to decide, you will need to investigate the products and if they will meet your needs.
As I have stated, what we know will be available in & via Snow Leopard is what Apple has made known on its own preview pages.
If you needed to seriously know more you would have invested in a ADC Developer account and extensive testing but with the understanding you would be dealing with pre-release technology.
Past that, the two products that offer the most in terms of feature-set(s) are as I already noted:
Kerio
and
Zimbra.

Photoshop elements for Mac (snow leopard)

Hi all. I recently upgraded my computer to a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. Previously i had a windows running acer. Just before my acer crashed i bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. Unfortunately this is not compatible with my Mac. I was wondering if there is anyway to get a download which will make it compatible (I don't even know if such things exist) or if i'm able to download a Mac compatible version and use my old serial number? or am i stuck having to fork out to buy another copy? Please help....

Need a previous version of Flash 10 for mac (snow leopard)

For some reason the unified player 1.6.4 is not working properly, when I use it on a specific site (the site is confirmed working for everyone else). The player plays for a few seconds, then turn black, and audio continues to go. This worked on this computer before but last week I upgraded flash to the latest version.
I need any previous version of flash 10.1 that has flash unified player 1.6.3 or less. Perhaps Flash 10.0 would suffice as well.

Manually installing ACR latest version on CS4 for Mac Snow Leopard.

I cant see the Raw thumbnails or the raw previews on Bridge, and neither can open the raw files in photoshop CS4. Guess i need to install the ACR (5.6), i am new to mac OS world, zould like to know the following steps to install the ACR for raw reviewing and editing. Thanks a lot for your help.

Just updated to 7.0.1 for Mac Snow Leopard, but the icon in my dock isn't the firefox symbol, it's a "document" icon. How can I get the firefox icon in my dock again?

I was given an auto-update message from Firefox, which asked me to restart the program to initiate the update. As soon as Firefox restarted, I got a weird document icon in my dock - in the place where the Firefox icon was moments before. The new update of Firefox seems to be working just fine, but I would like the Firefox icon in my dock and not this unrelated icon. Can you help, please?

I had this problem. Re-instal Firefox. After you drag the Firefox icon in to the Applications icon it is going to ask you if you're sure that you want to replace the version that's there - say yes. Then go down to your dock and remove the Firefox icon - drag it off the dock so it "poof!s" away. You can now put the icon on your dock again from your newly updated version. If that doesn't fix it drag it off the dock again, probably no need to re-update for the third time. Fixed it for me anyway. GL!

Web browsers for Mac Snow Leopard

This weekend I upgrade to Snow Loepard and then version 10.6.3. I now experience high cpu usage (and slowness)with Safari. An Apple rep told me there have been reports of this issue, but no resolution.
As a result I need to use a different web browser. I have tried Chrome (Java apps don't work at all) and FireFox (crashes every time). What other suggestions do people have that I can use as a web browser?

Have you "reset Safari" from the Safari Menu?
Also try Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If your apps function correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to Users/(yourname)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
EDIT: In the case of Safari look in Users/yourhome/Library/Internet Plug-in items and
/Library/Internet Plug-in items.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.

I have Sling Player on my Mac desktop and it will not support Firefox 8.0, only versions 6.0 or 7.0. How do I download these older versions. I upgraded to 8.0 and my Sling Player application will not work.

Tried to update and even buy a new application but message is that it is damaged or sent by email--you know that one. Thing is my existing iPhoto won't email for me so something must have happened since I last used it which was probably a year ago. I have a Macmini OS X 10.6.8. Any suggestions?

Sorry but know we do not "know that one" - we need the exact error message in order to help as well as the correct informatio on the version of iPhoto and of the OS (you state two different versions of the OS - 10.6.8 and 10.3.x)
And what exactly is the problem you are having?
So to get hlep you need to answer questions
what is the exact error message - and what email client are yhou using?
