Laserjet 1020 Won't Print Multiple Copies

I have a Laserjet 1020.  OS is Windows 7, 64x.  If I give a command to print any document multiple times, it will only print it once.  So, if the document is 1 page and I need 5 copies, it will print that one page one time.  If the document is 4 pages and I need 5 copies, it will print the four pages of the document, but only once.  So, the issue is with multiple *copies*, not multiple *pages*.  I have tried the simple stuff (turning the computer on and off; checking for updates; removing the printer and completely reinstalling it; etc.).  Nothing works.  I did see elsewhere somebody say that if you go to start; devices/printers; right click printer; and hit DEVICE SETTINGS tab, then you can change this "MOPIER" mode thing.  But that is the problem... THERE IS NO DEVICE SETTINGS TAB.  No, I am not crazy.  It isn't there.   So, the problem with that fix, which appeared to work for others in the HP Forum, won't work for me because there is NO DEVICE SETTINGS TAB.  So... How do I fix this?  Why don't I have a device settings tab?  Help!  :-)

Hi jnickelsen,
I understand the printer won't print multiple copies.
Thank you for your reply.
I will be happy to help you with this.
This printer doesn't have the Mopier settings.
What drivers are you using?
Did you download the drivers or are you using the Windows preinstalled drivers?
If you are using the Windows preinstalled drivers then I would download the latest drivers. Here is the URL for the HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor since it might resolve the issue automatically.

My LaserJet 1020 won't print the first document it receives after powering-up. Print manager shows that the document is being sent, the printer makes noise like it's getting ready to print, but the document is never printed and I don't receive an error messages. If I send the document again the document prints as does every document there after.
I'm using Windows Vista Professional and the printer is connected via USB 2.0.

  • Laserjet won't print multiple copies on Windows 8

No matter how many print copies I request, it only prints one at a time. Using Word 2010. I'm running Windows 8.1 and the printer is a 1320 PCL5.

The ABS PDF Driver v400 is not a Physical Hardware printer, it is the ability for you to convert a MS Word document by "printing" to an Adobe PDF file.
Under Devices and Printers, you should see an HP Printer (1320) Icon/Image OR

    Hi @BillBrody ,
I understand that you can only print one copy at a time. I can help you.
From the application your printing from, go to File, Print, Number of copies select 2. Uncheck Collate. You can now change the number of copies. Collate should now stay unchecked.
Try printing the multiple page document again.
If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

  • LJ1300 won't print multiple copies

Just changed my desktop base unit and now running Windows 7.  My LJ1300 refuses to print more than 1 copy of any document.  I've removed the printer in "Devices and Printers", unplugged the USB and reconnected it, allowing it to reinstall itself, which seemed to operate properly, but no luck.

Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? • Laserjet 5000 with windows 7 driver cannot print multiple copies unless disabling mopier

Customer has Laserjet 5000 that they have been using for approx 5 years. It is connected to one computer with the standard parallel cable and the driver is using lpt1. It is used mainly to print word documents and a multi page publisher document. The computer used to be a windows xp computer and all  worked  well with the PCL6 driver and that is the only driver that was used
They just bought a new Windows 7 32 bit computer and now it has lost some of the functionality.
The first driver that was loaded was the driver that Windows 7 used after you use the windows update button that you get during the add printer wizard. I think it was the pcl 5 driver as that is the driver that the computer will install if you remove the printer and then restart the computer. Using this driver, when you choose to print more than one page or multiple copies, it will just print the first page or copy and there will not be any errors displayed.
I have since downloaded the PCL6 driver, PS driver and PCL5 driver from HP's website and tried all of them.
The PS driver will print more than one page, but when it gets to about the 4th page the printer prints out an error page. The error is PCL XL error, Subsystem: Kernel, Error: Unsupported protocol, Operator 0x0, Position:0
The PCl 6 driver will print the same error page and not print any print jobs, even if it is just a single page, single copy job.
The pcl 5 driver prints one page and then stops printing, no errors.
When I disable the mopier under device settings, the pcl5 driver will print everything just fine. Only problem is, it will not collate. The collate checkbox is available and checked when we try the multiple page multiple copy publisher document, but it just prints out as if we do not have collate checked. If we could get collation to work, than we are good to go.
I have not tried the PS driver with the mopier disabled.
The PCL6 driver stills returns the pcl xl error with the mopier disabled.
The printer does not have any extra memory, just the 4 mb standard that came with the printer. I am wondering if this is a memory issue triggered by Windows 7and I just need to get more memory for the printer. (Computer has 4 gb of memory)
Anybody else have a similar issue and got theirs fixed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • 1300 suddenly stops printing multiple copies

My Laserjet 1300 suddenly stopped printing multiple copies. I am using the driver supplied with win7 and it has been working for the last year. I have tried installing PCL6 driver instead of PCL5 and I can print multiple copies for one job only and then the computer does not recognize the printer. Has HP sent an update that has changed the way win7 works with the printer? Any one with a solution or idea?  Thanks, John

HP Laserjet 1022nw running with Win7 64 computer printing multiple copies - won't stop until you shut off.  It resumes printing when you turn the 1022nw  back on
    Have renistalled Driver
It worked fine with Vista and XP

    Hello @Astronav,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the issue of  multiple pages continuously printing from your Windows 7 computer to your HP LaserJet 1022nw Printer. However, in order for me to provide you with accurate support I do need to know how your printer is connected to your Windows 7 computer.
Normally the continuous printing issues are caused by your router. When you send the print command to your printer from your computer than the print command goes from your computer to your router and finally to the printer. If there is a conflict with your router it may constantly send the signal to the printer to 'print' a job. Or, if the printed text is garbled information and weird symbols that your printer is printing it could be commands from the router to your computer that are improperly being sent to your printer and resulting in a page of weird symbols printing.
Therefore, it is very important for me to know how your printer is connected to your computer as that will guide us in the what direction we need to be troubleshooting.
Once I find out how your printer is connected to your computer I will be able to provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to resolve this continuous print issue. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • HP Laserjet 1022nw printing multiple copies

HELP!  Ever since I purchased my new laptop with Windows 7, my LaserJet has been going crazy.  I reinstalled new drivers and used the HP diagnostic tool and it says "all is working correctly".  However, when I print a document of any size (even if just one page), the printer keeps re-printing multiple copies until the paper runs out or I turn the printer off.  I have un-installed and reinstalled several times and the same issue keeps happening.  I posted on the forum and one other person related that he had the same issue, but to this date neither of us have been able to correct it.  I love my laser jet when it works, but have resorted to using my hp photosmart 7960 instead (higher cost of ink!).  And this sucks because sometimes I have 50-100 page documents that I need to print.  Laser is so much faster.  Thanks in advance for the expert advice I know you are going to give me and the solution that I KNOW that you must have.

  • Problem with 4250dtn printing multiple copies Windows 7 64 bit

We can't print multiple copies from within some, but not all, applications to a Laserjet 4250dtn from Windows 7 64-bit workstaitons.  Windows 7 32-bit ones work fine.  The printer is served from a Server 2003 printer queue, but even when we print direclty to the port we only get one copy. Setting copy count from the printer dialog works fine, but we need to have the applications invoke multiple copies. We are using the UPD 64-bit driver;  could not find a legacy driver for this printer for Win 7 64 bit. I've tried various tricks found elsewhere on this forum, including turning off mopier mode, printing directly to the printer, disabling advanced features, etc. to no avail. Help, anyone! Thanks. Jerry TurnbowUSBO

Thanks very much for the feedback. I was getting worried!
The command window opens when I double-click on the Developer Day VM and I get a few lines that scroll off the window about loading Linux .... These lines never come back and I can't scroll in the command window.
As soon as the above messages come into the command window the whole process stops. The window stays open but I get no response from it. I get no login prompt or anything.
Do you think it could be a VirtualBox setup issue? I downloaded and installed the product along with the extension pack with no apparent problems and when I start VirtualBox I see the Developer Day VM listed in the left panel. All I do at that point is double-click it like the download web site said but I don't get the same results, i.e. no chance to login. It seems all I can do at that point is close the window by clicking the 'X' and it asks me 3 things about what to do with the VM and I usually say to shut it down. None of the other options look any better either.
Any other suggestions are most welcome!!
    Thanks again!

  • HP printer will not print multiple copies of docs using new HP Pavilion HPE Series PC.

I purchased a new HP desktop computer with Windows 7.  I connected my existing HP laser jet printer to the new PC and the drivers installed successfully.  When I want to print multiple copies of a document the printer only prints one copy and stops.  I can print multiple copies on my Kodak color printer from the new PC.  I did not have this problem with my old PC.  The issue only exists between the new PC and the existing HP laserjet printer.  I have checked all printer preferences and settings to no avail.  Any suggestions for further trouble-shooting?

  • Unable to print multiple copies of documents on Win7 machine with Office 2010

Since upgrading to Windows 7, I have been unable to print multiple copies of documents in any MS Office 2007, 2010, Word Pad or Adobe Reader 9.  I also experience the same problem if I print from Word Pad.  The issue appears to be associated with the Collate Option in the Print Dialog box.  If the Collate box is checked, I only get one copy of the document.  If I uncheck the Collate box I get as many copies as I choose.   The problem is that with the Collate box unchecked, I have to collate multiple copies by hand, and with 10 – 20 copies of multi-page documents that can be quite a chore.
The ironic thing is that MS Visio 2003, on the same machine, prints and collates as many copies as I choose, with the Collate box checked.
I can print multiple copies of Word 2003 documents from my wife’s Win XP machine to the same printer, but not from my Win 7 machine with Office 2010.
My printer is an HP LaserJet 1320nw and I have downloaded and installed the latest printer drivers from the HP Web site.
Has anyone experienced this problem, and if so, are you aware of a solution other than unchecking the Collate box?

I have the same issues with my LJ1320. I have Office 2010 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.   However, my printing problem is more widespread since I have been unsuccessful at printing multiple copies of all types of documents, not just from  Office 2010.  For example, I have the same problem trying to print multiple copies from  Internet Explorer.
I also have other problems printing  from Office 2010 that you may not have discovered yet.  I cannot print Excel spreadsheet grid lines from Office 2010 if those documents were originally created in an earlier version of Office.  I tried saving them as Office 2010 documents and also using compatibility mode but nothing worked.  These same documents print fine on the same printer from my laptop which uses Windows Vista and Office 2007.  Also Excel spreadsheets originated in Office 2010 print nicely.
Looks like HP has a few bugs in their printer drivers.
I note that HP released a new Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5x64 on Feb 18, 2011 (Version 5.2.6).  Have you tried it yet?

  • Printing multiple copies in 1.3 and 1.4

    Hi,
I have a problem while trying to print multiple copies of a doc programmatically (without the Print Dialog)with 1.3 and 1.4, but nobody seems to know an answer.
In 1.3 you can set the nr. of copies on the PrinterJob with the setCopies() Method. But this just doesn't work...
    pj.setCopies(2);
    pJ.print();
    prints only one copy!
On the 1.4 you can use the PrintRequestAttributeSet to set the nr of copies, I tried this too, but it also doesn't work, I always receive just one copy (or the nr. of copies set in the Print Dialog...)
    PrintRequestAttributeSet attset = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
    attset.add(new Copies(2));
    pJ.print(aset);
This has to work somehow, nobody seems to miss it and it is part of the API. Is there some other trick that must be taken into account? The Bug List brings a few old errors, but under 1.4 there is no bug listed...
    Thanks for helping me!
    Maria

Thanks a lot for helping me, this just wasn't my problem; but at least I'am meanwhile a little bit wiser:
the problem seems to be the printer: I can try here on 3 different printers (one of them is the ADOBE PDF, where I mostly do the testing).
The Printer 1 returns the SupportedAttributeValues for Copies 1-2000 and prints the 2 Copies wished ( works properly!)
The Printer 2 returns the SupportedAttributeValues for Copies 1-999 but doesn't print more than 1 copy (Any idea ??? )
The Printer 3 ( the ADOBE PDF one ) returns the SupportedAttributeValues for Copies.class 1 and prints allways only one copy, which at the first view seems to be right...(I already have tried to change the MultipleDocumentHandling to SINGLE_DOCUMENT.SINGLE_DOCUMENT_NEW_SHEET but that doesn't help!)
But I don't understand, why all the printers print 2 copies if I do it through the Print Dialog: when I increase the number of copies in the dialog, the specified number of copies is allways printed!!!
It is driving me crazy! I cannot properly implement the requirement to print 2 copies of a document, because there is no information from the printer that this won't do it ( see the printer 2!!!) The information about the printer that the java API returns, seems to be less than the printer really can!!!??? I hope, I am wrong...
So, if you have solved such problems, please let me know how!
    Lot of thanks,
    Maria

  • 6110 All-in-one sometimes will not print multiple copies

I have had this problem for sometime now. I searched the forum and found the Mopier solution for laserjets, but the 6110 does not have this setting.  The same question regarding the 6110 went unanswered in the only post I found for it.
I am using the 6110 on WinXP Pro and connected by USB
Often times when I try to print multiple copies of a document (MS Word or MS Works as examples) I check 2 copies in the selection box but the printer only prints one copy. I then have to click Print again.  What is strange is, sometimes it performs fine and others it will not print more than one copy at a time.  Sometimes it SEEMS that if I change the "collate" checkmark it works, but proper functioning does not seem to be able to be recreated every time.
I do not get any error messages, the darn thing just acts like I have 1 copy selected rahter than two. I notice that when this happens and I go to print a second copy, the dialogue box has reverted back to 1 copy, but in those few times when it DOES print 2 copies, if I go back and select Print, it still shows 2 for the number of copies.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance
