Laserjet 1300n drivers on Windows XP-32 or 32-bit drivers to the Win7-64 server

A customer of mine lost the capability to print to the shared printer on a Win7-64 box (on a parallel cable).  I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers on the Win7 server and a Win7-64 box.  Both work great.
I am unable to re-install the driver on an XP-32 box and I can't get them installed as additional drivers on the Win7-64 print server.  Tried every download HP has to offer and even the original CD.  Every one says "windows could not find a driver for your device" or "a severe problem has occured".

I had creative cloud installed in a parallels deskto virtual machine on my mac, I delete the virtual machine without deactivate the creative cloud. after reinstall a new VM running windows 8.1. pro 64 bits, I downloaded the creative cloud installer but it does not install ang give an Error code 72, it is assuming that I already are using the Creative cloud in 2 computer, but itis no the case, how to solve this situation?

Dave: I did the Microsoft Update two days before this happened, and rebooted as required.  I just created a new restore point and lauched Creative Cloud.  Now I get the famous white screen:
It just sits and spins (been 10 minutes now).
Fortunately, I saved away this command (which I've had to use 4 or 5 times already):
    del %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE\opm.db
Unfortunately now, I get this (even after closing the above window):
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
So I killed everything that said "Adobe" in the task manager and this time, the command succeeded.
Fortunately, the current apps seem to still work.  I can't seem to find the "Creative Cloud" app in the applications on my system, but I launched Photoshop CC, told it to look for updates, and got a list of the 5 prgorams that need updates in the Adobe Application manager:
I will proceed with the updates, holding my breath.

  • Can't boot into Windows 8 Single Language 64 bit or access the BIOS screen with the F1 key

I have in my possession right now a Lenovo E49, Model name: 3464
I am unable to access the BIOS settings at POST by pressing the F1 key.  Neither does it respond to the Enter key when it displays the message "To interrupt normal startup, Press Enter".  I am also unable to boot into the installed OS Windows 8 Single Language 64 bit.
For your informtion, these are the events that led to this issue.
I accessed the BIOS settings at startup using the CHANGE PC SETTINGS option in the CHARMS menu in Windows 8 Single Languge 64 bit followed by GENERAL and ADVANCED STARTUP.  Then I chose Restart Now.  Windows restarted to produce the startup screen where I chose Troubleshoot, followed by Advanced Options and UEFI Firmware Settings, followed by Restart.  This took me to the BIOS settings screen. Once there I changed the boot settings in BIOS so that SECURE BOOT was turnned OFF.  It was in ON state prior to that.  I also changed the BOOT MODE to LEGACY ONLY.  I also changed the BOOT ORDER to boot from DVD drive first followed by the Hard Disk and USB Hard Disk.  I saved the changes by pressing F10.
Now the computer is able to boot from the DVD Drive.  I tested this by inserting a Windows 7 Repair DVD and also a Linux Live DVD.  Mind you, I didn't mke any changes to the Hard Drive.  I'm also able to boot from a USB Hard Disk.  This too was tested by inserting a bootable USB HD that had both Windows 7 and Windows 8 OS installers.  I used only the command prompt feature in the Repair option on the Windows 8 installer to ensure that I could access the partitions on the HD.  I did not in any way install Windows 7 or 8 on the HD.
If there is no bootable DVD or USB HD inserted, the laptop is involved in a loop that restarts followed by a message that says the following:
    "Intel Undi, PXE-2.1 (build 083)
    Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
This product is covered by one or more of the following patents:
    US5, 307, 459,  US5, 434, 872,  US5, 732, 094,  US6, 570, 884,  US6, 115, 776 and US6, 327, 625
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series v2.41 (06/08/11)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM."
I am positive that the current state of the BIOS is such that it does not accept any input keys like F1 and F12 at POST so that the BIOS can only be accessed through Change PC Settings in Windows 8 as I had done prior to the occurence of the issue.  Since I cannot boot up Windows 8 I cannot use this method to access the BIOS.  And since it is not possible at this stage to access the BIOS settings through the F1 key, I believe Lenovo must have surely provided another alternative to enter the BIOS.  Can you kindly tell me what other way is there to do this.  In earlier days, one could reset the BIOS by shorting the BIOS through pins on the motherboard.  Is that possible now?  Or is there some Lenovo BIOS utilily that enables me to change the BIOS setting to boot with Legacy and UEFI?  Or do I have to install Windows 8.1 64 bit in Legacy mode?

I'll see if another member of the team can jump in here and offer more help...
What I might imagine is that you can only access BIOS from a cold boot. Windows 8/8.1 have hybrid shutdown and don't completely shut down the machine normally, so even when it powers off, it isn't fully off and the next boot is not really a cold boot.
Please see this KB.  I realize this assumes you can get into windows.
As you suggest, it also seems as though you have set legacy vs UEFI and that may be why your drive is not currently booting.   Can you remove the battery on your system?  If not, is there a reset hole on the bottom?  Removing battery and AC and pressing and holding the power button several times, then re-attach AC and Battery and try to restart and press F1 to get into BIOS.  (Not familiar with models that use enter for BIOS).

  • Windows update could not check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.

I restarted my computer but still have this issue.
I changed the setting from "install updates automatically"  to "never check for updates". clicked ok and then changed back to "install updates automatically". Tried to check for updates and still receive the same error.
Windows defender was turned off. I turned it on updated it but still receive the same error message.
The background intelligent transfer service and windows update are set to "automatic delayed start" and the status for both is "started".
I'm running windows 7 home premium 64 bit
I ran the MGADIAG tool and here is the report (windows tab)

  • Laserjet 4200 drivers for Windows 7 64bit

ok...ive upgraded to Windows 7 64bit to test on our network and come to find HP is lacking on the drivers for my laserjet!!!
I need a solution for this.
    thank you

In Windows 7 Prof 64 bit I got my HP 4200DTN to work kind of. In Windows install a network printer, have it look for the driver in Windows 7 prof 64 bit. Now with that said it will make it print, duplex  BUT if you have an envelope feeder like I do you are SOL, THANKS TO HP. Their solutions is to buy one of their cheap Chinese printers. I will not do that because the HP 4200DTN will print and does a good job in my network. Before I buy one of their cheap Chinese piece of crap I will get rid of Windows. Still trying to find a work around. The HP printer driver web page has a Universal Printer Driver for the HP 4200 but a lot of features are not supported. Tray 1 envelope feeder ( no support ) you can take the feeder off and feed tray 1 by hand to print envelopes HANDY!!! Just like starting your car with a crank!!! Would not hurt HP to provide drivers for the HP4200DTN, with the envelope feeder. They are so busy trying to SELL, SELL, SELL the new Chinese cheap crap. HP had a problem with their DeskJets in the 90's, paper feed rollers and gears broke. They talked me into a HP 8600Pro Premium, going to send it back. I am going to try my hand at fixing my HP OfficeJet 7310 All-In-One that quit working. It has been a good printer since purchase 6 years ago.  I puchased a parts machine today. With any kind of luck I will have the needed parts to make my HP 7310 live. Don't need their cheap Chinese Junk. They don't want to have the service they used to provide. Spend all day on the phone and get transfered all over the world and back again, no help. Sick of it!

  • Installing x64 and x86 drivers for a HP Laserjet p1505n printer on Windows Server 2008

How do you install both x64 and x86 drivers for a p1505n on a 2008 server? I have now managed to install 64 bit drivers but can't install x86 drivers in the normal way using Additional Drivers from the Sharing tab. I am also trying to do similar for a laserjet 1022n printer.

On the 2008 Server x64 I installed the FULL driver package 163mb.
I installed the HP P1505n on Server 2008 and made sure that was working.
Then I went back in and did the Additional Driver thing and when it asked for the driver for x86 I went to the
C:\hp_P1000_P1500_Full_Solution folder and scrolled to the bottom and there was the x86 XP driver.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • HP LaserJet 5000 support in Windows 7 64-bit

I recently purchased a Dell Laptop that has MS Windows 7 64-bit OS and I  have an old Dell Desktop 4400 w/Windows XP I have a HP Laserjet 5000 printer connected to the LPT1 Port.  I have the printer shared and I can connect to it with my other laptop that has the MS Vista OS.  I can not get my Laptop that has Windows 7 to connect to it and I have tried everything that I can think of. I logged on to my Laptop with Windows 7 and downloaded the latest driver from the HP Web Site.  The drivers for the LJ5000 are called Universal Drivers.  The drivers are installed on my W7 System and then I go to the Start/Devices and Printers and "Add a Printer" option.  I select the "look in the network option" and Windows looks for the Shared Prnter and finds it.  I select the printer and it starts looking for the driver.  I think it looking on the computer where the printer is connect to anyway, it cannot find the driver.  I get a dialog box that says it can not find and gives me the option to browse.  I then browse to the Universal Driver that I downloaded for HP5000 and I go the folder that has the ".inf" files.  The program tells me that it can not find the driver for HP5000.  What am I doing wrong?  Does Windows 7 support the HP Laserjet 5000 printer.  I sure hope so because I can afford to buy a new 11"x17" printer.  Can anybody out there help me?  Thanks.

Try the following: on the Windows 7 machine go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a Port, Local Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the computer and printer), OK, then click on Windows Update and then select the appropriate driver.

  • HP LaserJet CP1525nw drivers

I'm trying to install the 64 and 32 bit driver for the HP laserjet 1525 printer on a server. I can get to the page where the download is found, I extract the files and put them on the desktop of the server. When I go through the wizard in windows server 2008r2 to add the driver, I point to the folder where the driver was extracted, after digging through the folders, I cannot find the driver, or the .inf file. What am i doing wrong? Is HP providing the proper drivers for this printer on the website? Operating system is windows 7 64 and 32 bit. I was able to install the printer on the 2008 r2 server by allowing windows updates to install the driver. I want to add the 32 bit driver, and I also would like to update the 64 bit driver with the latest one from HP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

hi . I had the simalar  problems of my HP b209a-m printer not being seen on my wireless network> I could not add the printer and could not get the printer to join my network,  I found this post at HP discussion and it worked!
Each printer has different options/settings but it seems like the general idea should work ok if you can reset printer back to factory settings and find Printer IP Adress.
    This is for HP printers
    1. On the printer navigate to the Wireless or Network menu.
    2. Select Restore Defaults.
    3. On your computer look for a wireless network named 'hpsetup' and connect to it.
    4. Print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer to see its IP address. (on my b209a-m Printer the IP info was found by pressing the Wireless Icon)
    5. Type the IP address into the address bar of a web browser to see the printer's internal settings.
    6. Click on the Network tab and look for the Wireless Setup Wizard and run it.
    7. The Passphrase is the password you use on your wireless connection.
    8. Now change the network name on your computer back to your wireless network.
The printer will now be connected to your network.  With your the computer backyour wireless network network, you can re-add the printer from System Preferences.
Hope this works--- it did for me.

  • Unable to install HP Laserjet P1005 on a Windows 7 64-bit OS system

I have attempted to install both the full package and just the driver for an HP Laserjet P1005 local printer to my personal PC which I updated the OS to MS WIndows 7, 64-bit version numerous times and I have been unsuccessful each time. On each attempt to run the installer, whether it be the full version or just the driver, and you come to the point in the installation process where you are to plug in your local printer's USB cable to your PC I keep encountering an error message indicating that the USB device is not recognized. A further investigation reveals that there is in fact an unknown device. I click on this and I encounter a Microsoft generated message which indicates the following information - Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
The following Microsoft web site - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123
    has the following Recommended resolution
One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.
If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem.
Well, I went through all of the above recommended actions and I got nowhere. I went back on the web and did some further research. This time I found the following information at the following HP web page -http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-59850-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=1060&product=3435668
This was a link to an HP web page which pertained to a so-called repair utility software that was for an HP Laserjet P1000 and P1500 Series Plug and Play Recovery Utility.I tried this but it has not rectified my problem installing the driver for my local printer. If you have the magical solution to this problem I would appreciate it if you could provide it to me. Thank you.

WendyM: I seem to have EXACTLY the same problem...
    - New Sony Vaio with Windows 7 Home Basic 64bit factory installed
    - HP LaserJet P1005 as a local printer
    - P1005 was first installed on the Vaio using the original install CD and sort of worked
    - worked OK for the installing user but only intermittently for the other user
    - both users had problems with the printer queue locking up in various situations (only solution was to reboot)
    - decide to try and update the installation of the printer
    - downloaded both the driver files you speak of from HP
    - small Plug and Play file (c4Mb) got into endless loop when trying to pre-install drivers and had to be killed
    - large full installation file (c167Mb) also failed to install properly
    - tried uninstalling and rebooting various times after various failed attempts to get this full package to work.
    - situation now is that the P1005 is simply uninstallable on the Vaio but continues to work fine on two XP machines (see below)
    - a detail: when the P1005 is plugged into any machine (Vaio or XPs) USB reports that it could run faster if it was on a USB 2.0 port
    - this seems to be a strange message on a 2010 Sony Vaio which obviously has USB 2.0 ports
    - stranger yet, the XPs are completely unaffected by this message, and print to the P1005 normally, as they always have
    The XP machines:
    - One XP machine is an old 2006 HP Pavilion
    - The other XP machine is a 2009 Acer netbook
    - both machines with their original factory installed XPs, and both regularly updated
    - the P1005 is a local printer on all machines
    - each machine is plugged into it when printing is needed and the 2 XP machines always connect and print, regardless of the USB speed message
    - the P1005 even works from the XPs via an unpowered USB physical hub with a USB mouse connected as well
HP really seem to have gotten themselves into a rather shameful mess over their printer drivers. In the year 2010 it seems insane that plugging a printer into a computer is so stunningly complex.
Indeed HP seems to be going rapidly backwards. The Vaio was bought to replace the old 2006 Pavilion (an excellent machine which has never put a foot wrong despite the most intensive use, and which continues to work fine if a little slowly in comparrison to the newer machines) because when we saw the HP replacement we were so repelled by its awful ergonomics, physical appearance, and ragged construction (raw metal edges round the front corners!) in comparisson to the Pavilion that we didn't need any convincing to buy the wonderfully constructed Vaio. Now we discover that a printer that works fine on XPs is unusable on Windows 7. A strange form of progress indeed.
For many years I revered the quality of HP products. No longer I'm afraid. The Pavilion became a Vaio. I wonder what will take the place of the P1005 (I am actually being extremely restrained about the P1005 because it compares miserably with its sturdy predecessor: our sadly missed HP LaserJet 1010),

  • HELP! Problem using HPSCAN.exe or TWAIN driver for HP Laserjet Pro cm1415fnw using Windows 7

I have been using the HP Laserjet Pro cm1415fnw for over a year without a problem.  At the time when I first purchased the unit, I was using a Dell desktop with Windows XP and connected the printer via USB port.  I was able to print and scan from my computer, including from within applications that use TWAIN scanning driver such as Word, Acrobat, etc.
I have since upgraded to an HP slimline s5-1160 computer using Windows 7.  I installed the Laserjet software from my installation CD's without a problem.  The printer is connected to the computer by USB port.  I can continue to print without a problem.  However, I no longer am able to scan using the HP software (HPscan.exe) nor from within applications that use TWAIN scanning driver such as Word, Acrobat, etc.  When I attempt to do so, it takes a long time before it asks me what TWAIN scan driver to select.  When I select the HP cm1410 MFP series, the program either crashes or reverts to the state it was before I attempted to scan an image into a document from within the program.
I can however scan successfully using the Windows Scan and Fax wizard or if I choose "Devices and Printers" from the Start Menu and select "Start scan" from the menu after right-clicking the HP printer icon.  However this option limits my use of the scanner -- I cannot scan to a PDF nor can I scan multiple pages into an OCR application.  I'm forced to scan to either a JPG or TIF or PNG.
As for attempting to resolve this problem I have done the following with no success:
Uninstall and reinstall the full software and drivers (and using the most recent version on the HP website)
    Change USB ports and/or cables
Run the HP scan diagnostic utility, which seems to show an error at the WIA scanning step and then recommends that I uuninstall and reinstall the full software.  When I skip that and allow it to check for TWAIN scanning, it gives me a similar error, suggesting that I use the most recent version of the drivers (the driver that I am using is v 3.0 dated 11/12/2009)  Therefore in this case the HP scan diagnostic utility does NOT provide a fix for this problem other than uninstall and reinstall, which I have done several times to no avail
Contact HP support both for the computer and the multifunction printer (which as I understand are different support staff).  The printer staff claims it's a software problem and that the computer staff should be able to resolve it (something about not having "launchpad" installed properly.  When I contact the computer staff, they claim it's a printer driver issue.  So I am at a standstill
I researched the HP support forums only to find from this link - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02661093&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4089468&tmp... - that if you cannot scan from HP software that you can use the programs that rely on WIA drivers (Windows Fax and Scan) which I already know I can do but implies that HP does NOT have a solution for how to scan using their own software!
My gut tells me that this is one of those problems that many others may have but for which there is no workable solution.  It's possible that during the course of uninstalling and reinstalling the software, remnants may remain behind that prevent proper functioning of the drivers, but without knowing how to specifically "clean" those remnants before reinstalling the software, I am at a loss.  Oh and by the way, I've also tried using CCleaner and Norton Registry Cleaner in an attempt to clean those remnants, but that effort didn't help.
My question is basically this... does anyone know of a fix around this problem or must I resign myself to using the Windows Fax and Scan wizard to scan in documents and images and forget about using TWAIN programs as HP seems to be suggesting?  I would think that given that I am using an HP printer/scanner along with an HP computer with Windows 7 that this problem should NOT be a problem!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Before attempting to install the printer on my computer (HP slimline s5-1160), I had been able to successfully install the printer previously on two other computers: a Lenovo T-410 laptop (work computer using Windows XP) and an HP Pavilion Elite HPE (wife's computer using Windows 7).
On those computers, I can use the TWAIN driver from within applications without a problem, and the HPSCAN.exe file works as well.  Both computers connect to the printer wirelessly.
It is while trying to install the printer on my home computer via USB that I am having all sorts of difficulty. I have also tried to connect my s5-1160 to the printer wirelessly from my computer. I also checked the Windows Services, and all seems fine there.  I also tried switching USB ports and cables.   Again, no luck with the scanning using TWAIN driver.
One other point: when I use the original installation CD that came with the printer to install on the s5-1160, the installation seems to stop when it says "Checking requirements for installation"  That didn't happen with the two other computers.   However, that problem doesn't happen the s5-1160 when I used the more recent version of the full software from the HP website.
Let me reiterate.  I have never had any problems with printing from any computer.  The scanner works fine from my s5-1160 if I resort to using the scanner and fax wizard using the WIA drivers.  What I am unable to do is to get the scanner to work from within an application using the TWAIN driver or if I use the native HP application (hpscan.exe).  Nothing seems to happen.   Because of that I cannot scan directly into a PDF.
And the only fix that the HP scan diagnostic utility continues to recommend is that I uninstall and reinstall the software.  It shows errors in the WIA scanning step and TWAIN step.
Is it possible that because of behind-the-scenes Windows updates that my s5-1160 is receiving that a software conflict is created that prevents the TWAIN driver from functioning properly?  Other than that I am at a loss to figure out why this is happening.
